Article: Underrated '00s pop songs you need to hear asap (57,640) by Lee TS from USA
Can't nobody tell me nothing about this gem. I remember being embarrassed for her when it first came out, I wanted my beautiful innocent Mariah. But I've definitely grown to appreciate this over the years. I totally love it, it's so ridiculously silly and campy. It's her having a good time, along the lines of re-Christmas-ing in February and not give a flying f*ck who has an opinion about it. The song is so fun and bouncy, I love it. I need a new stuff is starting now moment. Hurry babe.

Re: Mariah and the Adele debate (57,634) (57,639) by May from Denmark
It's a good point regarding the late songs having something too over the top. Her music always had lots of layers, that's what makes Mariah, even layering herself as part of the chorus or creating a whole chorus just out of her voice. The difference is that before used to be subtle. The most subtle I can think of is the album Daydream, where most of her songs felt like just her voice flowing and simple music in the background, being dominated by a piano. Now at days her music has too much production, some of her songs feel like they are filled with stuff, bells, rings, electronic sounds, a male voice repeating a word or two in the background, lots of chorus here and there, effects, auto tunes, this, that. I think it would be wise to put some of the stuff out, not everything can fit in a song. I felt this particularly with "Supernatural", which itself is a beautiful songs, but somewhere along it was too much.

Re: Single release strategy / Hello (57,629) (57,638) by JC from USA
I completely disagree. I find it ridiculous that a lot of lambs attempt to compare Mariah to whatever song is really hot right now. "Hello" and "The Art of Letting Go" are nothing letting go. Mariah doesn't even belt until 2:57, where she kills it. "Hello" has much more simplistic lyrics, and surprisingly, a lot more melisma.

Sorry, Ariana, but I don't think anyone was asking for Problem 2.0. Lightning don't strike the same place twice. Especially not with Adele around.

Fortunately TAOLG is that type of track that has classic timeless vibes so if ever Mariah realized TAOLG's full potential, she could easily rewrite its chorus. Still crossing fingers that she would do that.

Bad Blood yet again (57,635) by Lee TS from USA
A diva needs protection at all times. Why Selena? I bet Mariah's feeling really insecure right now. But seriously though, just for laughs.

Mariah and the Adele debate (57,634) by Myles from CT, USA
Honestly I love Adele. I love her lyrics and the emotions in her voice. I am just going to add my two cents on why Mariah's recent songs are not translating well on radio. I feel like the productions of Mariah's latest songs are just too much. Don't get me wrong, I love Cry, I love One More Try and I did like TAOLG. The problem with her recent releases is that there is so much vocal layering that it sounds messy at times. Just like the last chorus of IWTKWLI, it is way too much. I want to hear Mariah and a simple production with minimal or no vocal stacking. Mariah your voice, whether some say is broken or not, is still full of emotion and still beautiful. Less is more.

Re: Hidden notes (57,610) (57,633) by Bill from the UK
That YouTube channel is great, thanks for sharing. I never knew of the whistles in AIWFCIY. Amazing. No artist ever perpetually surprises me as much as Mariah. Her music is honestly inexhaustible. No matter how many times I have played a song, and I have literally played AIWFCIY thousands and thousands and thousands of times since 1994, the fact that I still discover nuances within a song I thought I knew inside out is just brilliant. What a gift MC has. What musicality she was gifted with. I am forever grateful to her for sharing her gift with us.

I hate that kind of unprofessional and insensitive behaviour. Love you Mariah, but that's just silly.

Queen of Christmas (57,630) by Jono from USA
Now that we've reached the last two months of the year, I am excited for radio to be filled with Mariah again. I really hope she does another performance this year to "make up" for last year. She's in a much better place now, and I think that fiasco last year really made her wake up and realize she can't just wing it and rely on her legacy. The times have changed now, my generation and younger don't respect those who came before their idols. It's all about relevancy and apparently, being an older act means you're "irrelevant". It's sad, really. But anyway, I'm not delusional and I know that even if she started rehearsing now, there is no way she could replicate her 94 vocals on AIWFCIY. It's just not going to happen. Her voice is deeper and less flexible. So I'm hoping she does something like she did with TGIFY in Vegas, and really strip it back from the bells and whistles. Let the diva sing with just a simple piano arrangement. Mariah's writing and composition is so genius that she could take this uptempo track and turn it in to a beautiful ballad. I think when she has time (and confidence), she really excels. Clearly Macau shows that her voice didn't "disappear" like it did last year. This year has been all about repairing her image after the media completely witch hunted this poor mother going through a divorce. Ending the year with a stellar performance, with her current capabilities and not trying to replicate something from the 90s, will be the cherry on top.

Re: Single release strategy / Hello (57,629) by Lara from Middle East
The Art Of Letting Go has a lot of similarities with Hello: their titles rhyme together (lol), both start with minimal production, talking about a old relationship. TALG could use an easier to remember chorus and it needed a video quickly. Another gem gone to waste.

Re: Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade (57,617) (57,627) by Warren from Trinidad & Tobago
B, I am from the Caribbean so I don't know, hence my asking, but are Christmas songs part of the Thanksgiving celebrations in the US? I have never seen the parade on tv so I don't know what exactly it entails.

Ariana interview (57,626) by Billy from Greece
I really couldn't care less about Ariana (not a fan of her music or singing), but I was watching an interview she gave on Powel 106 FM where she really shut down a lot of misogynistic commentary from the two male hosts who were acting like university lads (with all bad connotation of the word), so kudos to that. However, what struck me was her body language and mannerisms which reminded me a lot of MC, as if Ariana has now started studying Mariah's interview techniques as well. I've never seen her like that before, but this time I could see an influence, or I'm just reading too much into it, I don't know. Here's the interview.

Re: Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade (57,617) (57,625) by Leito from USA
I'm not sure if she will be on a float or a main stage. If she's on a float, those performances are usually lip-synced.

Eric, I showed a group of people the Halloween pictures posted (uploaded) to her social media accounts and they said that [censored]. I don't agree with them. I do think [censored] and at certain times [censored]. I would never insult Mariah or you and I'm so sorry if my message came off that way.

Re: Adele's Hello and the 3-minute something songs (57,599) (57,623) by B from USA
Edward, I also love songs that tell stories. Charmbracelet is an album full of lyrical masterpieces like Subtle Invatation and Lullaby. Mariah is a vivid lyricist. I agree that One More Try is one of her worst covers however I think it's better than IWTKWLI.

Every time I listen to a Mariah Carey song I learn knew background vocals and ad libs. Her music is a gift that keeps on giving.

Re: Witchy woman (57,614) (57,620) by B from USA
She looked stunning as a good witch. My friends all agree [censored]. I think they [censored]. I think she needs [censored] if she ever wants to make another epic comeback. She does look better with less makeup. Doing so would help change the publics perception of her. I love how fresh faced she looks in the Always Be My Baby video. [Webmaster: You wrote a really nasty message.]

Oh the humanity. What dancer leaves Mariah for I don't know her. I would die if Mariah and Taylor wrote a song together. Taylor's 1989 is an excellent pop album it reminds me of a countryfied Daydream.

Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade (57,617) by B from USA
Mariah is headlining the 89th Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, this is exactly what she needed. She needs to give a stellar performance of AIWFCIY and the vindication of Mariah Carey will be complete. I knew she wanted to redeem herself after last year's debacle. Did you really think she wasn't going to be singing on our tv's this holiday season? How boring and not festive would that be.

Bad Blood v. 1902 (57,616) by Lee TS from USA
Case in point, the TMB dancer is now team JLo for her Vegas residency. Isn't this what birthed Taylor and Katy's feud? I believe M now has to hit up Taylor and write a song together. Actually, I'd imagine M being more like Silk, "They're just back up, they don't matter." Haha just being messy here.

Re: ET Halloween interview (57,611) (57,615) by May from Denmark
It was obvious Mariah didn't want to talk "Nick" haha. I wished the interviewer asked her for Packer instead, I would have loved to see her face and what she had to answer. She seems really happy and carefree lately. Maybe he is her match but too early to tell.
