LA Reid (59,307) by Lee TS from USA
Dude, this guy is so sketchy. The way he's portrayed in TLC and Toni Braxton's biopics gives me the whatever. He's going to bankrupt you Mariah, leave him.

I did too. It's so weird because it's Mariah and Ariana together haha. I'm just like swiping on my phone and then I saw this clip that they are in, they are both wearing red gowns and it's like a teaser for their upcoming collaboration haha. They are like into each other, super close and it's so glamorous. I wish it's true because until now I'm hoping for a diva collaboration.

Mariah/James the latest Hollywood power couple (59,305) by safe from jamaica
I am super excited to see Mariah happy again, her last moments with Nick was like hell for her. Nick brought about a lot of down moments for Mariah he was a definition of bad luck, RocNRoe are the compensation Mariah got from the pains she went through with Nick. But now she's met her perfect match in James, he treats her as a queen which she is and that diamond/platinum engagement ring is what I tag "end of discussion". Nick didn't know what he had until he lost it, if he knew Mariah will get a billionaire husband after the divorce he wouldn't have made that silly mistake. So happy Mariah's life, family, voice and career is in a perfect state now I wish her and James a long lasting marriage filled with multiple blessings once they walk down the isle.

Re: Tennessee (59,291) (59,304) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
Well, the thing is for those that put forth the "mocking" energy you are speaking of, it really doesn't matter what she's doing, for those who want to mock her, they'll find a reason. Read any media coverage on Mariah's lifestyle, the way she dresses, her performances, how much money she makes and you'll find it. Hallmark has a way smaller draw and audience, so those that watch will likely already be fans or supporters, or those looking to take a swipe in her direction. Everything I came across for "A Christmas Melody" pretty much understood what the film was and took it that way, which to me is not a bad thing. For me, the Glitter era to this day is overblown, because of what was going on in her personal life and how the media ran with the coverage of some of her appearances. Could the movie be better? Absolutely. Everything can in retrospect. Now, I think even Mariah is too hard on the project with how much she says she hates it. You aren't always going to bat 1000. It's far from the worst movie ever made, contrary to how the media makes it sound. And the soundtrack album is amazing in my humble opinion at least. I actually think it's rather grounding for her to try smaller scoped things that don't reach huge massive audiences. You have to be able to learn and try things. There's not typically a lot of cross-over for singers and film. If she really felt Hallmark would be another "Glitter" I really don't think she would do it. But, at the same time, I think she's also quite aware that there's always going to be people that don't like her choices, and she's still got to live her life for her.

Surprises (59,303) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
So since around the end of last year Mariah has been talking about how she has many "surprises" coming in the following months. We didn't get any in 2015 so I assumed 2016 is when it'll start. I know it's only January but seriously what are the surprises? Or is it just one of those things Mariah thought she'll do and then just discarded as time went by? Even though I was criticized the production of "Why You Mad?", I don't understand what ultimately made her scrap it. If she didn't plan on releasing it then why even bother leaking it to TMZ and promising a video "soon". I think I read somewhere that Justin and his team were not happy that it got scrapped. That was yet another missed opportunity (of course granted they made the necessary changes). Anyways moving on, I really wanna know what is going on. I hope this isn't a MIAM situation again. I remember she went to Paris and was seen shooting for something and it was rumored to be the video for "Thirsty" but that never happened. (We even saw her pictures of her dress covered with a towel.) Then there were rumors "Thirsty" would be used in her commercial, that was gone. I won't even begin to list all the other promised surprises that ended up in nothing. If she needs a break, take it, but don't keep us poor lambs hanging on high hopes of surprises and then just scrapping them.

Dreaming of Mariah (59,302) by Natalia from Italy
I had the best dream this morning. I was standing in line with a bunch of fans waiting to meet Mariah. It was the Mariah from the Emotions era. I was chosen to meet her. I walk up this fancy stairway and into a huge royally decorated room. There she was lounging on a fainting couch. She was so sweet, and offered me a pina colada to drink. How funny is that? It felt so real. I have had many other "Mariah dreams" over the years, and they are always so real and awesome. Have you ever had a dream about her?

Re: Mariah and Whitney battle (59,298) (59,301) by B from USA
The Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston rivalry resurrected an argument as old as music, namely, beauty of sound versus the expressive use of sound. Mariah's voice is beautiful and Whitney's voice was expressive. However, as she ages Mariah's voice has become more expressive. The years of wear and tear have made her voice more expressive and when she goes for it you feel it. I think Mariah held back at the Oscars because she respected Whitney. Plus Mariah's parts are whispery and high and Whitney's are guttural and loud.

Re: Academy Awards (59,290) (59,300) by darrian liu from taiwan
Possibly because Mariah has a naturally smaller voice than Whitney's. Mariah's a lyric soprano, which can be powerful, but Whitney was a mezzo, which is bigger than the lyric soprano. Mariah has a loud and resonant voice but Whitney has the bigger voice. Both have loud resonant belts though, but Mariah's voice still has to slice through the loud instrumentals and/or orchestra while Whitney, having a larger voice, she kinda "overflows" over the loud instrumentals. That's my theory so idk.

Re: Mariah's next album (59,296) (59,299) by May from Denmark
She has been really jazzy lately, and converting some of her songs into really nice pieces of jazzy-ballads. I somehow expect something like this if there's a new upcoming album close by. I don't mind, she is really great at that, she has the voice for such type of music. I just wouldn't want a full jazz album though, I leave that to Diana Krall and her sweet breathy voice.

Mariah and Whitney battle (59,298) by Ty from USA
The Oscars Whitney tried to destroy Mariah at that bridge. Mariah holds back too much why no do like she did with Patti and go for it. The Oprah show was better and she looked more at ease. Whitney tried her.

Mariah's next album (59,296) by Giovanni from USA
Now that Mariah has found love and is in a much better place than she was 2 years ago. I can't imagine what the next album will be like. What will she name it? I agree with B about wanting Mariah to more mature lyrics. Her working with Diane Warren makes me excited because Diane is one hell of a songwriter. I can't imagine what they could come up with.

Money (59,295) by Tory from Australia
So what if her ring cost millions? They can do whatever the hell they want with their money, it's not their job to feed all the starving children in the world. I doubt you would listen to random strangers telling you how to spend your paycheck so why expect other people to? Just because they're rich and famous? You don't even know them well enough to say they should be giving back more, they probably already do.

You're mine (59,294) by Giovanni from USA
I never thought I'd say this but, just recently I've had a change of heart for "You're mine". At first I hated it, but now it's grown on me. I always thought her voice sounded kinda dry on this song. And I also did not like the video. But anyways, I'm digging "You're mine" for the moment.

I prefer a blue diamond they're more rare (59,293) by 123 from USA
Was what Mariah's response was when someone's pink diamond engagement ring was all the rage. Now she's got one bigger than than B and Kim's combined-lol. The whole relationship, let alone engagement seems way to soon, but from what I've observed from afar, she seems to be in a really good space. She seems happy, has lost weight, and taken an interest in her career and voice again. I wish them both well and hope it lasts this time and hope the make each other happy.

Lmao I can imagine (59,292) by JAXGH from United States
Mariah doing her little make up for the day singing "Well at first I didn't know but now it's clear to me, you would cheat with all yall freaks and lie compulsively so packed up my Louis Vuitton jump in your ride and took, you'll never ever find a girl who loves you more than me." Shake It Off really is just an empowering anthem for girls to walk away. "Gotta make that move, for somebody who, appreciates all the love I give, gotta do what's best for me, baby and that's mean I gotta, shake you off." It's such a feel good record. Someone has mentioned he saw Nick cheating in France back in 2012. Mariah must've had really hard time letting go since they already have a family and she loves the twins so much. But I'm really happy for Mariah. Fingers crossed Packer treat her like the queen she is.

Re: Tennessee (59,285) (59,291) by Malcolm from Asia
I get your point but what all I'm trying to say is whether it's a small role, serious role or whatsoever, she must be effective 100%. I just felt sad that after Precious, she gave that type of acting that is cringe-worthy and I know they are far different from each other but you know what I mean (the glowing effect when she is on, the scenes when she's like in a different set and all that), but it happened already so what else can we do and at least it's on Hallmark Channel. After all, I wish they learn something about it because consistency and credibility is everything. I don't want for Mariah to be mocked again because of her choice of acting projects.

Academy Awards (59,290) by Andrew from UK
Old school subject. Watching Celine and Whitney. And then Mariah and Whitney at the [...]. General consensus is that Mariah kicked [...] ass on Oprah but at the [...] won. I recall being pissed at Whitney for her obvious battle at the [...] and seeing in Mariah's face that it was a losing game. I believe that Mariah loses to both on some levels and wins on others. Oprah was to me the definition of a singer vs an ego. I've shown everyone who will listen and they agree. But although Whitney and Celine have deep resonant voices and Mariah's a stretch vocal, I compare Oprah to the Academy Awards: why when Mariah holds the mic to her mouth during the high notes is she difficult to hear when we know that Mariah's high notes or head voice pierce? I watched Whitney live in 1999 and then Mariah in 2000. Mariah has a loud voice. It craps out the microphone. She mentioned it in Wembley in 2003 and laughed (it makes the lip sync vs live easy to hear). I'm confused by this. I'm not crapping on Whitney because she can sing shit better than Mariah. And Mariah sang shit better then her. Same with Celine. And therein lies the respect (but Mariah could sell). Essentially, I know Whitney has a belt and gospel, but Mariah is loud and requires adjustment. All I hear at the [...] is Whitney. I don't understand. Oprah was equal. Mariah has a pop voice. Why can I not hear Mariah at the Academy Awards?

Of course she does. She knows you made a mistake in typing quickly. Don't apologise. She knows you meant no insult or harm. Ignore the guilt trip. Don't validate it.

Re: Mariah and James (59,287) (59,288) by Lee TS from USA
Yes, I hope she had her eggs frozen if she ever decides to have more babies. She doesn't have to carry the baby herself. But it seems very unlikely since they both have young children already. Unless their love is so strong they want to create a little billionaire baby together, lol kidding. But yeah, I can't imagine Mariah wanting to have another baby.

Mariah and James (59,287) by Natalia from Italy
I am happy for them both. Who knows how long this engagement will last. They are both still married to other people. It could be years before they actually tie the knot, but something tells me this marriage will last a long time. I wonder what their child would look like, if they decide to have one. That would be interesting.

Angry face (59,286) by Tiina from Finland
I totally didn't mean to put that angry face there, I was going for the laughing one but accidentally got the other one. My bad. At the end of the day, I'm just happy that she's happy. It's all good.

Re: Tennessee (59,284) (59,285) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
I want to make very clear I'm not passing judgement on your post whatsoever. I respect your point of view I simply see it a bit differently. It's amusing to me that "A Christmas Melody" would even get compared to "Tennessee" or a Lee Daniels project. ACM is not trying to be anything more then a simple children's film for the holidays within the confines of the Hallmark Channel genre. Mariah knows the mood of the work she did in Precious and Tennessee is very different. I don't think her choice to work with Hallmark is as serious as it is sometimes made out to be. People try new things, experiment, and move on to the next thing. She will move on from Hallmark. Sure, yeah some may say doing three more projects for Hallmark is a "bad move". We'll see what comes to fruition. I can kinda see the attraction both for the small scale experience, and being motivated by the twins. Whether people agree or not, it's her choice.

Tennessee (59,284) by Malcolm from Asia
So I just watched Tennessee for the first time and Mariah is so natural and great in there and I'm like thinking to myself "So what happened with A Christmas Melody?" She's doing great when Lee Daniels is her director, I don't know what magic or something is Lee doing with Mariah when they are working together but it's so excellent. I wish the Empire appearance will push through or in HTGAWM even better. Mariah only need that consistency in acting like what she did in The Butler, Tennessee, and Precious then she's okay, she will not be poked fun when it comes to acting anymore. I don't need another ACM type of acting when she's like so into herself when she has the ability to become a serious, great, and respectable actress.

The crib (59,283) by Lee TS from USA
I think Packer should buy the 15th floor of Mariah's building to add to her home. Need to make space for him and her new stepchildren when they visit for summer lol. Demkids now have new siblings to play with.
