New wig (59,645) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Lord yes. This new wig is so much better than the old one which was really bad. This looks closer to her real hair and this dress is also better than the previous opening number.

Re: Wendy Williams (59,644) by Lee TS from USA
No you got it right. I believe Wendy ate crow when Kimye got married and made it past the 70 something days of her previous marriage. But of course she goes on to say that doesn't mean they're happy together. So even if Mariah makes it down the aisle, Wendy will be ready with something shady to say. I don't know, maybe like her sister and brother weren't invited creating family drama.

Re: Jermaine (59,625) (59,643) by May from Denmark
Haha yes Mimi, I completely forgot the time he was being called a leech. Then again, to me, it didn't feel like he was doing much effort with the promotion of the album and such. In the interviews for MIAM he sounded so lazy and gone, I don't think he has the "manager spark", that thing that makes managers sell their product. He is great doing music but definitely wasn't good in the whole promotion area and getting Mariah good gigs and appearances. Most were radio interviews that are only heard in the US, there wasn't much of an international perspective from him. I guess then all just simply rolled and died with addition of her divorce and moving home with the kids. Guess no one had the energy to even bother to do anything anymore. The end of last year is a great contrast with all that it happened through the 2014.

Re: MC sings with the interviewer (59,612) (59,642) by May from Denmark
I do agree Andrew that he did somewhat force it, the whole situation seemed contrived, perhaps he thought there was no other way to make Mariah sing, he obviously didn't discuss this previously with her manager/publicist or Mariah herself, and I don't believe she looked horrified, she looked surprised because it was clear she wasn't expecting it. I'm usually very objective, I love unicorns but I know they don't exist. I just simply don't think Mariah is a stuck up b*tch.

Article: Will Mariah have a statue of herself at her wedding? (59,641) by B from USA
A circus themed wedding? This engagement has the bloggers and journalists working overtime quoting inside sources.

The articles to be let go (59,640) by Andrew from UK
Dear Mimi L, the stiffness is part of what makes it awkward. Compare MC doing the same thing with Andi Peters during the Rainbow promotion, singing AYNAF over the closing credits (I think it was oZone). Massive difference. She was happy, cheerful, fun. This looked reluctant, awkward, uncomfortable. But then Andi Peters was black, wasn't he? Oh, cheer up, everyone. But I don't get some people here. They kick off about the smallest thing, and things which are purposely reconstructed to fit their righteous indignation. But a racist article about Mariah's fiancé and now an absurd article about her son wearing a pacifier both go unnoticed. I don't agree with any children being used as promotional tools. Before Rene Angelil's funeral I could not have picked Rene-Charles out of a line up. But this article seems to actually pick on Mariah's kid and his development. This isn't journalism. He will no doubt read that when he's older. And as daft as I think Mariah J.Lo'ing her life and public persona with seemingly silly marriages is (you asked me last week to clarify the intent behind a (rather wine- and emotion-fuelled) comment, so there it is), Packer hasn't really done anything wrong. He supports her and always has great big, fat smile on his face. The article is genuinely wrong and people online really ought to have sided with him more vehemently. Mimi L., I love how you love Mariah and the respectful, thoughtful ways you approach it. So I send you much love.

Should Mariah "ban the binkies"? (59,639) by Ardis Logic from Earth
This article just came out, about one of the latest pics that MC posted on her social media. This is the photo in question. If you look closely, you can see what appears to be a green pacifier in Rocky's mouth. The article says that once this picture was posted, many fans started saying how Dem kids are too old to still be using binkies. If you ask the "experts" they say children who use pacifiers are almost twice as likely to get multiple ear infections as children who don’t. After the 2-year mark, problems can start. Your baby's top or bottom front teeth may slant or tilt, and the problem can worsen as time goes on. Pacifier use after age 4, which is when permanent teeth start to come in, can have major long-lasting effects on adult teeth. What do you guys think? I say it's time to "ban the binkies".

Mariah Las Vegas (59,638) by Anthony Carey from U.K
Hey guys. I wanted to ask if there is anybody on this board who has been to see Mariah in Las Vegas this year (2016)? I am interested to see if there is any additional merchandise at the store or have they changed the couple items that had 2015 to 2016?
I bought everything when I was there last summer and will be returning next week before flying back home to the UK ready for the Sweet Sweet Fantasy Tour in Manchester and Leeds. Have fun guys.

Master Class (59,637) by B from USA
I think Mariah's career and life deserves a play like Master Class. Master Class is about Maria Callas holding a voice master class during which she retreats into recollections about the glories of her own life and career, culminating in a monologue about sacrifice taken for art.

Yes, it does. It samples Always Be My Baby, I'm surprised more people haven't spoken about it on the board. I posted it a few weeks ago but nobody seemed to care ha. It's my jam, I love it. It's very European though, not sure it'd be enjoyed in America.

Re: Toni Braxton (59,623) / "A Christmas Melody" (59,634) by Billy from Greece
Hey RJJ12. I did see the movie yesterday (thanks for the link) but I can't say I enjoyed it. It was (expectedly) full of showbiz cliches, but I agree with everything you said about the film being a vehicle for Toni to tell her own side of the story. The acting was pretty cringe-worthy too in my opinion, and as another person on the board here said, the girl who played Toni could not lip to save her life. That being said, I have been rediscovering Toni's catalog the past couple of weeks. Apart from "Secrets" which is a total classic from top to bottom, her recent duets album with Babyface is also amazing. Finally, speaking of cringe-worthy movies, and even though they are not really comparable, I can't see how the Toni biopic is any better than "Christmas Melody". I watched it after I had read all the comments about it being "Gliter Pt. II" and I find it way more decent than I thought it would be, and MC was just fine in it. And that's my two cents.

The pink dress (59,633) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
So turns out Mariah/Stella wasn't trolling us when they wrote they are waiting for the pink dress. They probably meant this pink dress. It's a beautiful dress and Mariah again looks like the TEOM era, but I wish she'd keep this for a red carpet event. It's a little too simple to be a concert costume, especially a Vegas concert costume, where things are supposed to glitter and shine and be over the top. If Mariah would wear this to a red carpet, man she'd look gorgeous.

Re: Toni Braxton / Mariah Carey mini series (59,608) (59,629) by 123 from USA
Yes Mara, I agree, it was nice to see her tell her story. Did you see the 1700 dollar royalty check? I felt bad that she funded her tours with her own money and then took out loans. One thing about Mariah, is her tours are always simple. Say what you want about how simple Mariah's Elusive Tour appeared, Mariah was able to recoup more of the earnings for herself instead of having to pay to have a grand show because you're expected to. It would be nice for Mariah to be completely behind the scenes, guiding the story. I would love to see the story play out during the Butterly/Rainbow/Glitter era. I would to see her tell her side of the story regarding the sabotage and watch it all go down.

Re: Jermaine (59,619) (59,628) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
Wow. I listened to the podcast interview and to me JD didn't say anything remotely equating to her career being over, or that she couldn't achieve another "hit" again. In fact, he seemed very open and willing to working on music with her. (The part about Mariah calling like getting on a bike, if she wants to go in the studio and work, he's like "let's go".) To me, the interviewers wanted him to comment on the drama in the media around Mariah's voice and he wouldn't. He kept saying "I didn't hear about that, I don't know about it" as if to say, "I'm not going to talk smack so don't ask me to." He very clearly stated Mariah has never gone anywhere, so whenever people talk about a comeback with her it doesn't make sense to him. He said he wasn't expecting WBT to be as big as it was, and that he didn't listen to people when he said her career was over at that time and he doesn't listen to or know what people are saying about her voice now. I think that the generalization he made about artists who have been around a long time being "like your first hit of a drug that you can never get the same hit off of" is more referencing the general public and their expectations on artists who are deemed "legends". To me he's not saying Mariah "can't" have a hit again just that it can be harder when you have been around 25+ years. He said she doesn't need to keep touring at this point of her career, but she does anyway. That to me was a nod to her as a legend. That's why when they brought up the 18 Beacon shows he said "Who does that?" Anyway, I really think his comments about Mariah were complimentary and positive rather than writing her off as some has been whose career is over or something like that. He just wasn't willing to predict the future. He said now that Mariah has two children, her life is in a different place than it was at the start of her career. That to me is true. As a fan I don't respect MC any less. She's not the working machine she was for the first decade, but then I don't think expecting that of her is realistic, either.

Re: Article: Wendy Williams: Mariah won't make it down the aisle (59,618) (59,626) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
For Wendy's sake I hope she doesn't go ahead and make a bet that she will eat crow like she did with Kim and Kanye haha. I think the bet was something like she will eat crow if Kim and Kanye actually walk down the aisle or if their marriage lasts longer than a certain period she mentioned (I forgot which it was, Lee TS would you help me out?). And then when she lost the bet she had to actually eat crow on her show which was hilarious. So yes, she is very close to betting the same for Mariah and I'll basically have a "on the bathroom floor" moment if Ms Williams is left to devour another crow.

Re: Jermaine (59,619) (59,625) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Lee dahlin' I wasn't going off at your post, in fact I found yours to be quite well balanced, logical and neutral. My post was more of a defense for JD because I think a lot of time we forget that he was out in the front, shielding Mariah when fans were basically throwing tomatoes at him and dragging him through mud for the delays. I too am not a fan of Mariah hiring close friends as managers (that includes Randy Jackson) and while JD is a great producer, he was not cut out to manage someone as big as Mariah. Haha the poor guy basically broke down and said "go ask Mariah why the album is being delayed" after being verbally abused and bruised by everyone calling him a leech. But he always told it how it is to Mariah and even Mariah admitted that. So yes definitely a bad decision to hire him as a manager but losing him as a friend and collaborator is quite a sad loss. He pushed Mariah to belt her heart out in WBT when she wanted to sing-rap the whole thing. I feel like he was one of the last people to genuinely care about her and not like the other who just took and took from her. He seemed to care and he gave back to her too in the form of beautiful collaborations between eh too. I am not saying Mariah "needs" him because no she doesn't. She can get others to write with but I just feel that they understand each other so well musically, and both of them admits it. Why I am still defending JD even though I went off on L A for chalking Mariah up as a legacy artist is because I feel like he might be upset that he was basically thrown out of her inner circle after having to take hits for his friend but L A on the other hand had Mariah running back to him and trusting him with her career and the first interview he gives after getting her back he blatantly talks about how she is past her sell date and should resort to singing her back catalog and covers only. Haha me defending JD is probably how people defending Walter feel. With JD, it's just that she was making the type of music she loved. But oh well, like you mentioned he now seems to be in the same deep well with Walter, Randy Jackson. If JD meant Mariah is done then I am sad that it has come to that but like I said Mariah's win or defeat depends solely on Mariah. A lot of people might now call me out as being a "goat" (not you Lee) but I am just saying what I think. I am and will always be a lamb but this is one of Mariah's lost friendships that I will genuinely feel bad about.

Re: Jazmine Sullivan: singer mentions Adele while disc (59,605) (59,624) by 123 from USA
Jazzmine Sullivan is an amazing vocalist/songwriter. I'm still obsessed with Lions, Tigers, and Bears. I wish I wrote it. Have you ever heard her sing Round Midnight. Her runs are sick. Definitely underrated, and overqualified. Adele should duet with her. She is singing after all singing soul music.

Re: Toni Braxton / Mariah Carey mini series (59,599) (59,623) by 123 from USA
Hi Billy. I think the reason Toni put out a movie about her is because she saw the mockery that was Whitney's and Aaliyah's where the families, let alone the artists were not involved. I do respect your opinion, but did you get a chance to check out Toni's movie? Hopefully the link will work for you. I love Toni as well. I can't believe the same director that did Glitter did Toni's movie. What a difference. What lacked with Glitter was a good script. The story... lacked. What did Mariah say, "It didn't even have a script." Toni put the movie out to finally tell her story. Like Mariah, she too was painted as a lavish diva, overspending and going broke. She signed a bad deal and explained that they put a gag order on her for 10 years in order to be paid her just dues. Toni is re-branding herself as she is coming out with more music and is going to re-enter the music world. The movie received top ratings and I'm sure she got a nice chunk of change for it.

Re: Toni Braxton / Mariah Carey mini series (59,594) (59,622) by enwar00 from usa
I actually really enjoyed the movie. I thought it was nicely done, especially in comparison to the horribly trashy and generic biopics that channel has been doing that I won't even name. Mara pointed out that Toni was involved in the project, and I think that made a complete difference. Like you I also loved that her songs, music and singing were featured throughout, and you better believe I pulled out all my Toni Braxton CDs through the next week. As Billy pointed out Vondie Curtis Hall directed it (I'm a Glitter fan, I don't care), so that made a difference in quality as well. It was cool that she herself appeared in the last scene. Toni has had a dramatic life so it worked as a movie. With that said, I would not want a Mariah biopic at all. A documentary made well like Amy sure, but definitely not a bioipic with someone playing her. Too weird for me.
