No Mimi L., you don't get it. Ok, let me first say I was never one of them lambs attacking JD with the whole MIAM fiasco. Sure I was frustrated and never agreed to their manager/client relationship. I love him as her producer though, I still want them to create great music together. If Jermaine likes it, then I like it. You know how you get on LA's case about turning M into a legacy artist or not scoring another #1. Well JD is basically telling Mariah to hang up the towel, retire, fade into the back, give it up old woman, without saying the words. I didn't even think of him as being salty or butt hurt, but it was really disappointing to hear him to say that. He lost faith and belief in Mariah - that's the biggest takeaway. I think that's why Giovanni went on a tangent. I tried to keep it cute in my initial post but whatever, JD is halfway there to Walter land. That's how bad it is and left me feeling so weary for Mariah's next album. Or I'm just being dramatic.

Obsessed. She's all up in Mariah's business again. She uses Mariah to stay relevant by pretending to have inside information. She probably goes through Mariah's trash.

Reluctant or not, the woman sang. She let him have his moment, which for a fan is a dream come true. She let him lead the song and then joined in parts. If Mariah would sing one line to me personally, I would faint right there or get a serious case of shivers. Can we blame her for being reluctant? This woman is written off every time she misses one note (and that too when even her misses are better that most peoples best). She can give days of great vocals and we won't get one article but the day she has a bad moment, headlines spring out like mushrooms. So no I don't blame her for usually being reluctant to sing on spot because people have hammered her so much about her voice that she seems to doubt it herself when she is put on spot. The only complain I have of her interviews is that she gets quite stiff, as in her body gets stiff during interviews. I wish she was more relaxed like she was just a few years back.

Wow she sings so beautifully. It not often I get moved by Mariah covers but she is wonderful. It makes me think what if Mariah done something similar? Just really strip back her songs and sing them at her own pace but composed in a way that it still sounds the same. I'd love to just see her sit down at a mic with a guitar player sat next to her. Thanks for sharing that.

And I'm sure he was grateful for the thing he forced a reluctant singer to sing. And I'm sure she enjoyed it also, judging by the horrified look on her face. I wish I could live in the land of unicorns. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, people are praising an article about a "white" person not being able to dance. All is okay.

Jermaine (59,611)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

|
|
What's with all the meltdown over Jermaine. I didn't hear the podcast but judging from the gist, I am assuming he was annoyed about the question or he just didn't want to make a comment about her. As for her making new music, isn't it true that Mariah's kids now are her primary focus, and now more than ever because she is divorced and probably has to put in twice the effort to cushion the blow for Roc and Roe? At least he isn't going around painting Mariah as a legacy artist like L A Reid did even recently on the Wendy show. When asked about how he feels when older artists wants to put out new music and say "let me play my new song for you guys", "that's the time to go get the popcorn". This is the man Mariah went to in hopes of getting her career back on track. If Jermaine is a little salty, it's slightly understandable because after basically being given up as the sacrificial lamb during the MIAM era (where the delays were not his fault yet the lambs tore him down for it bringing up stuff like how he is bankrupt and leeching off Mariah and saying a lot of crap) he was subsequently dropped from Mariah's team. Then Mariah went to L A and I think it's known that L A and Jermaine don't gel well together. The songs he were responsible for on that album was great and I don't think they sound dated. If MILG was sung by Beyonce or Adele, it would be on the top of the charts by now, sitting there for weeks straight. YDKWTD would have been a huge summer song if it was given the right treatment. "Supernatural" is probably the only song that sounds a bit dated but Mariah wrote it for her twins. Even his last song with MC before MIAM, the H.A.T.E.U remix was fire. I don't regret saying that I do want her to work with Jermaine in addition to her working with new fresh producers. Because they understand each other musically. As for whether Mariah can make a big comeback or not, that won't depend on what anyone says. That will only depend on Mariah herself. When she gets her fire back and when she is inspired to write again, and then back up that body of work by going all out with promotions, then no one can stop her.

I do believe it was a gesture Andrew because rather than saying "oh boy..." she could have excuse herself and say "I have to reserve my voice" or "I'm on vocal rest", after all, she is doing Vegas. In a radio interview once she said in a joking way (but perhaps a very true one) after being asked to sing that singing was a different "cache", as in, they had to pay extra if they wanted her to sing something. I wouldn't care if it was like that anyway, her voice is her instrument, her working tool, she has all the right to decline. Let's focus on the positive, she did sing, she sounded like an angel and she was all smiles by the end. I think that's great.

It was really nice to read your story Mara. Really sorry your daughter didn't got the teddy but she still got something, that if I were her, I would never wear those socks, I would put them under glass along with the tickets of the concert. It's a nice piece of memorabilia, overall knowing that she was with mommy, how much more sweet can that be. I agree with the J-Lo stuff, it's tiresome, I've been also seeing her everywhere in columns of random talk. In Latinamerica she is so highly regarded and I never understood why, her singing is so average, her voice is not awful but it is so limited, all people only talk about are her "assets" if you know what I mean. Maybe they like her because her Latina side and that she made that role of that famous singer in the movie. Her music lately is so repetitive yet she is still in all medias. Why. Mariah is doing great and except for the DailyFail I hardly see her many places. And I only visit that newspaper only to write in the search "Mariah Carey" for the pictures. Many times it has been irritating reading the shade thrown at her in what they try to make pass for a positive comment by the article authors.

Re: Toni Braxton / Mariah Carey mini series (59,594) (59,608)

I saw the Toni Braxton movie and I thought it was nicely done. I thought they got Babyface down almost more than Toni. Her story was interesting as I have similar health issues and have been a fan of hers since The Boomerang soundtrack. However I don't see Mariah doing it although it would be one way for her to get her story out there straight from the source. I always wished she would. I feel like I have followed this woman since day one and almost feel like she is a sister I never see so to speak, and yet we really don't know all that much about her life in a way. Mariah always puts more in her songs. In the Toni Braxton movie, she was right there behind the scenes and it was so nice to watch something that the star was 100% behind. I would settle for a nice either documentary or sit down interview though. It feels like we as fans got more behind the scenes of Mariah years ago. I miss those sort of things. I think with this day in age celebrities use social media almost like a crutch and I don't mean any disrespect in saying that. I just mean like, before a fan of Mariah's in the 90's didn't have this social media frenzy to stay connected with her so we saw her more. I agree with you too that MC's people should focus and stress her genius songwriting ability now more and I do feel that would be positive for her. She has such an amazing ability to craft beautiful songs on so many different levels and it would be awesome if she shared more of that side as well.

Jazmine Sullivan: singer mentions Adele while disc (59,605)
by B from USA
| |
|
|
"There's a little injustice in how black soul artists are received. May not be as many people (who) listen to Adele, there are people who are listening," Sullivan told The Associated Press. Mariah is a black soul artist. She not only has to overcome that obstacle to succeed but ageism and sexism as well. She will always do well on the R&B charts but R&B is no longer the dominate force it once was.

Exactly, I kind of lost respect for him. In fact now I regret mentioning him in my post about Mariah working with him again. I remember in 2014 he said that he would love to make hit records with Mariah. But obviously he doesn't feel that way anymore. It's whatever now. I hope she goes platinum without him, lol.

Hey RJJ12. I personally am not in favor of MC doing a mini series of her life or a biopic and I don't think she is up for it either. Toni has even released a memoir, which is somewhat early in her career for that. We love Toni though, c'mon. What I did want to mention though in the first place is this: guess who directed the Toni Braxton biopic? Mr. Glitter director himself, Vondie Curtis Hall. Yep.

How do we know that the sales would have been different if the album was released earlier? That's just speculations. The fans buy the album anyway, and the rest of the world, I guess, didn't know about the delay.

They have this love/hate relationship it's so bizarre. For Wendy to stop being so shady to Mariah, Mariah would have to be the bigger woman and go on her show first. Only then will Wendy praise Mariah for the goddess that she is. Look at JLo. Did you know her flower ring that she "must" wear all the time like a good luck charm was somewhat inspired by Mariah's butterfly ring? Anyways, I want Mariah to wed Jimmy just to prove her wrong lol. No, I actually hope she pumps the brakes on that but it looks like this engagement won't be a long one.

Yes, you're so right. That's what I got from him too, that he doesn't believe in her anymore. It's as if he became the "they" who's written her off. If anything, Bow Wow and Usher are not gonna happen JD, stop trying to make them relevant again. Anyways, that's why I really hope Mariah's team is super tight and have faith in her. LA needs to be on board and stop trying to push Mariah to be an old lady doing classics. People still want new music from her, again, these next moves they make are super crucial. I've only read headlines but if Mariah is the most influential artist LA has worked with, she needs to be top priority.
