Mariah (57,247)
by B from USA
| |
|

Mariah is, was, and will always be The Voice. Even with the supposed decline she's still untouchable. Her voice is a gift from God. She's a songbird in human form. I was watching the Oprah interview during the promotional campaign for Butterfly and Mariah said she was medolically driven. She was coining catchphrases even then.

I think she'd congratulate herself for a job well done and tell her herself to go to the Rockefeller tree lighting this year and redeem herself and remind the world why she's earned the right to be a first class diva. Beyone [sic] doesn't compare and sorry Arianna it's never going to happen.

She would probably say something silly like "How she has that hair? I must get her stylist darling." Haha. I thought of this because every time someone shows her a picture of herself from the past she says something about the hair, she wouldn't be Mariah if it wasn't about the hair.

Hmm, I think she'd be proud. Look at how far she's come and what she's accomplished and is still going strong. Once upon a time 90's Mariah hoped for "some success". I like how some people here act like they wouldn't consider lipsyncing after 25 years of vocal acrobatics.

Am I the only one feeling like these "how would 90s Mariah feel about 2015 Mariah" posts are shady as hell? Lol. Both versions of MC are good in their own way.

I'm happy for Janet. She deserves all the love. Her new album is her best in a long time. Mariah will have her time as well, she could have had it with MIAMTEC, but she'll have it when the time is right. No need for any comparison of anything because the bottom line is that they're both legends in their own ways.

Hey Randy, good question. 2015 Mariah talking to 1990 Mariah? A scene from Friends comes to mind: "Shutup, the camera adds ten pounds." "Yes, but how many cameras are actually on you?"

The Janet love is shortlived. The Mariah love is eternal. Therefore Mariah can't get love everyday like it's nothng. Mariah love is of great value, and doesn't happen to everyone.

She probably would have said: "Why do I lipsynce so much, I must be sick a lot, and who the heck is Ariana?" At least I still have my looks.

'90 MC would probably say something like, "I don't think we can be categorized as singers because I don't lip sync my performances. Where some artists are more image based and overtly sexual, I want to be recognized for being a singer-songwriter. I like her heart necklace though, very cute." Lol I don't know just for laughs.

Great post May. Everything you stated is the truth. I like Rihanna but she's just not the artist or singer who should be the one to tie or break Mariah's number ones record. I agree that Mariah needs the best producers for her next album.

Such an amazing performance. The way the music was arranged, so good. The intro was very 70's. She literally slayed every female singer who was relevant that year. Hell Mariah slays anyone today lol. When she belts she shows just how amazing her voice is. It's simply untouchable. When I watch performances like this I need all the current artists who are in the music industry today to have a seat. They could never. (Ariana girl I'm mainly referring to you. You too Beyonce.)

I agree, it would be awesome if she did that. Surely there has to be one or two songs from the 90's unreleased that could hit number one of the charts. Mariah is just two more number ones away from breaking The Beatles' record. With everything that's happened in her life, she deserves some more hit songs to her name. I have a feeling her next album will be epic. I need another "The Emancipation Of Mimi" era. Great songs, videos, performances and promotion. I want Mariah to slay all her haters. If she releases amazing songs, records great videos and promotes she'll surely score some more number ones. I think the first step is to write with good producers. I have no problem if she works with Jermaine on one or two tracks.

Ah ok, it's the letter from 2013. I thought there was a new letter (how awesome would that be). No I'm not new, but I open the site from my phone and the format here doesn't show me the history (neither the discography).

G, I agree. I think when she writes a new song she should compare it to one of her 18 #1's. If it as good or better she should start over. I'm sure she used to do so in the 90's. Imagine all of the songs stored in the vault at Sony that she now has access to. Mariah release a song from any era during your Sony years. Please.

I agree. Instead of recording a standards album Mariah should make a Gospel album. I think she should cover hymns and write songs of praise 50/50. LA Reid should have suggested she do a Gospel album instead of suggesting she record a standards album of songs from the Classic American Songbook.

Now knowing what she was going through, the injuries and divorce, I applaud her for always taking time out of her hectic life to give us updates like this. I agree with what she said about the album, MIAMTEC, and Roc being featured on a classic. Supernatural is one of my favorite songs on the album and of every pop stars that's written or recorded an ode to motherhood Mariah's is the best.

No worries May. The topic wasn't directed at anyone specifically. More something I have observed countless times over the years anytime another artist who is successful is being discussed. It's all good. I respect everything you said.

Gospel album (57,220)
by Jonathan from United States
| |

|
I was listening to Mariah's faith based tracks and I thought when are we going to get a gospel record? I want her back on the charts so her focus should be on pop, r&b, whatever but as a side project I want a gospel album. It would open her up to some older fans again and it could do really well in the gospel world considering she is Mariah Carey. However, if she does a gospel album I'm going to need all new songs and maybe a collab or two like with CeCe Winans or Mary Mary.
