She is an amazing dancer and she has a very unique baby voice, I honestly don't listen much of her music because I feel that most music sounds alike, so I've never been devoted to her career but I enjoyed some of her stuff in the late 90s. I agree that the way the public received her album and Mariah's was completely different and we speculated much in the past the reason why Mariah's album didn't do well, I mean, debuting in the third place while having such strong songs, #Beautiful itself was such a big success and a fair amount of the songs in the album were catchy and had wonderful lyrics and suddenly the fall. The reviews by critics were almost as equal as Janet's. To me it was the lack of videos and promo. Janet's album is like an anticipated comeback while Mariah released hers under stress and pressure, not only her personal life being on a turmoil but also the management area, it feels like she decided to just "let it go". I won't put down Janet in any way because I think she had a steady career but I do think Mariah is bigger in terms of singer and songwriter. (Friday 9 October 2015; 22:58)

Her last major album was in 2008 (I believe) I was going to mention that in my last post, but didn't. Yet if MC goes off the radar for half that time, people freak out. Lol. As fans, we're lucky Mariah has such a large body of work, and that she still chooses to put herself out there. One day that could change and we might be looking at 7 year breaks between albums. I don't listen to Janet's music, as it's not my kind of music, but am I right in saying that it's been a while since her last album? She's been out of the limelight rather than Mariah who has been in the tabloids for one reason or another. And I think there is an important lesson to learn here. You don't have to be in the public eye 24/7, like I think most of us thought for Mariah recently, for the public to remain interested in your work. Janet has kept a low profile and worked on her album privately, without announcing anything until everything was ready. She released her album, classy videos (I did watch NS) and the results speak for themselves. If the music is good, the videos are good, and you have no delays, then you can have great results. She has defied the age thing in the music industry with this album and even though I'm not a fan, I'm pleased for her success. (Friday 9 October 2015; 21:12)

Success of other artists (57,182) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada Mariah herself gave Janet a shout-out on twitter after the release of "No sleep". I wholeheartedly agree, that "Me I am Mariah" deserves all kinds of acclaim. It was overlooked, absolutely. It's a breathtaking album. But, it isn't Janet's fault that the general public and the critics didn't embrace the album. I just don't see any value in begrudging the success of others to "defend" Mariah. I know it's frustrating, but we can't change what happened. I know we all wand Mariah to be successful (I do too), but it just seems like lambily sour grapes, to me to be upset that Janet's album and tour are getting attention. When I listen to Unbreakable I'm not comparing it to MIAM and Janet's latest effort doesn't detract from what I feel about Mariah's album or Mariah period. There is no comparison. Infinity I told you so (57,180) by MIAM from United Kingdom Remember when Infinity got released and people were saying it will be her next number one, yet myself and some others on here disagreed. I also said it will be put on the same pile along with YME and IWKWLI and sorry to say but it has. Sorry guys that's the truth, no shade intended. Janet Jackson and the likes (57,176) by May from Denmark Why should it matter if Janet Jackson wasn't nominated before Mariah? Mariah has been much more influential in music, her voice can't even compare to Janet, who as sweet as she can be, her voice pales in comparison. Even when it comes to music writing and changing pop/RnB music itself Mariah has done that. Mariah has always been mega international while Janet has been very well known in the US but outside the US she wasn't that huge until the 2000s when she started doing more MTV and tour appearances, before her fame and her sister's La Toya was more dependent on her brother's one. Nominees and inductees should be those who have been very well influential, those whose people just can't forget because they were too big (and some still are) and those who are supposed to be very talented in the music area and not just the business. It shouldn't really matter the "who was born first". That sounded like a rant haha but in all honesty Mariah was and still can be too big of a singer compared to most, overall these days. Rock and Roll HOF (57,175) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter While I would be super happy if it did happen (because I love me some Mariah recognition/accolades), but it's fine really. Mariah is (all caps) the music industry. We can say that alteast 50% of the current music industry artists have been influenced by Mariah's style/voice/songwriting. New celeb lambs are popping up every now and then. If the Walk of Fame happened after so many years, the HOF will happen too. Even if it doesn't it's fine, we as lambs should be used to having Mariah not getting enough credit. Do I want the HOF accolade? Hell ya, I want Mariah on the Hall of Fame, the Walk of Fame, Stair of Fame, Mall of Fame, whatever there is. But it'll probably take time and that's fine. Best of luck to the current nominations. I hope Janet gets it. She is a terrific performer and an icon in her own right. Her choreography, her music style, her fashion have all been iconic. Mariah-Janet collaboration petition (hashtag). Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (57,173) by Jono from USA I would have been surprised if she had actually been nominated, let alone inducted, in her first year of eligibility. To me the RRHOF and Mariah don't seem to match. Just look at the inductees. Those are very different artists from Mariah. Is she just as influential? Absolutely. However I wouldn't be surprised if it took at least another 5-10 years for her to even be considered. I think if anything, Mariah would be far more proud to be inducted in to the songwriting hall of fame (and she damn well deserves it). (Friday 9 October 2015; 3:45)

So many basic, lesser artists getting nominated and awarded. But legends like Mariah get ignored and treated as if she's nothing. I don't care anymore. All I want is for Mariah to have another successful era. She needs amazing songs and videos. As well as one or two good collaborations. I also need the cover art of the album to be decent and nice. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (57,166) by B from USA Unlike Madonna and Janet, Mariah's voice is amazing. She's considered the best singer ever. Google the best singer in the world and the results are Mariah, Elvis, and Ms. Dion. She is also a talented songwriter and producer. She's also a pioneer. If Rolling Stone magazine is an indication of how people at RRHOF select their nominees, then Mariah must wait a few good years to even be considered. Did you read that article posted here? it seems Mariah must wait until other fellow snubbed R&B divas (Janet, Whitney, and a long etc) get inducted first, lol. How was Madonna inducted as soon as she was ellegible (25 years of career)? It seems it takes a good lobby and US $ to get "lucky". Sad yet predictable. (Thursday 8 October 2015; 22:23)

I view the whole thing pretty much the same. He's a good friend who loves and respect her, and will tell her things straight forwardly.
