Re: AIWFCIY #11 on Billboard Hot 100 (58,729) (58,734) by Lee TS from USA
Wow this is amazingly incredible. If this was its chart position last week, I'm sure the lambs would have gone crazy to make that final push. And team Mariah could have even joined in on the fun, like a surprise performance on GMA or something. Awesome.

AIWFCIY #11 on Billboard Hot 100 (58,733) by Travon..SweetSweetFantasy from USA
I have paid attention to shopping trends the past few years. I have made statements on this site that Mariah Carey is still potent on the Billboard charts and some thought I was crazy. This is Mariah Carey's 4th top 15 hit in the USA since 2008 (Obsessed, #Beautiful, and Touch My Body are the others) and she has 4 top 5 albums since 2008 too. I noted several posts of how AIWFCIY was making extreme gains before the last week in November compared to last few years and most were still stuck on 2014. Mariah Carey, although busy, was way less busy promoting in the public eye compared to last year and did much better on the Billboard charts than last year. After the unfortunate performance last year, some fans on this board questioned and ridiculed other fans for being blindsided and said we were not helping her career by being in "denial". As always I am happy to say that I was right once again. AIWFCIY sold over 200,000 copies in the USA this year and Merry Christmas sold over 70,000 copies in the USA. This proves Mariah is still very relevant regardless of what time of the year it is. She lost the weight and let her name do the talking. To those mediocre fans that do-nothing but criticize, [censored] and [...].

Re: AIWFCIY #11 on Billboard Hot 100 (58,729) (58,732) by B from USA
I wish it had cracked the Billboard Hot 100 Top 10. However, #11 ain't bad for a song that was released in 1994, twenty one years ago. I think AIWFCIY is Mariah's signature song. I think the positive press from her Las Vegas residency and her annual Beacon concerts added to the momentum but the song is a timeless classic that is engrained in our culture. It isn't Christmas until you hear those sleigh bells and Mariah angelic vocals.

Mariah the immortal chanteuse (58,731) by B from USA
Mariah Carey's list is short: all she wants is immortality

AIWFCIY No. 11 (58,730) by David F from Mexico
Guys I am actually crying because Billboad says the song could not enter the top ten. Maybe my family downloads were needed, but we spent the holidays this time in Mexico. She had the chance if she had her team do more. Those rich men are also helpless. Maybe next year.

AIWFCIY #11 on Billboard Hot 100 (58,729) by enwar00 from usa
This pisses me off. It was so close to being Top 10. If the chart week went though Christmas, no doubt it would have been Top 10. Still an amazing fest, considering it is a 21 years old. Seems like it was extremely strong this Christmas for some reason.

Superstar (58,728) by Martyn from England, UK
Where is everybody getting this information from? I've googled and I can't find any news about it? Somebody said Instagram, but where? Sounds like another rumour to me.

Something Different (58,727) by Ardis Logic from Earth
I agree with Andrew, that something different is needed here. I think along the lines of "Meteorite" whatever was happening the night she made that song, it was magic.

You're right. They look very similar though.

Re: Bathing suit (58,724) (58,725) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
The MIAM cover monokini was a crocheted monokini. This seems to be her bathing suit from the "Say Something" video. It even has the little bedazzled detailing in front, so I am guessing its the same Louis Vuitton monokini she wore in the music video.

Bathing suit (58,724) by Giovanni from USA
Is it me or does it look like the one she wore on the "Me I am Mariah" album cover? Regardless, she looks so good.

Re: Superstar (58,718) (58,723) by Giovanni from USA
Yes to more Happy Perez and Miguel songs. Mariah would surely easily score another hit. If the song is good, I think the next album will be epic.

EDMariah (58,722) by Andrew from UK
Mariah fans seem to label EDM a "bandwagon" as if, somehow, people who venture into it have no integrity. Music moves in trends and over several years EDM has risen hard and fast. It's, oh my word, "popular". Does Mariah want to make popular music again? Yes. Would it be a massive leap? No. She needs to do something different as the last few albums sound tired even now. Enough Infinity and You're Mine. It ain't infinite and nobody really wants it anymore. If she's brave enough to finally do something different, everyone should back her for it.

She is a "superstar" (58,721) by Ardis Logic from Earth
It's good to see the board back to life again with some very exciting news. The latest pic of MC in the gold bathing suit. Wow. That rocking body is back. She might take a break now and then, but she's not going anywhere. MC started this music game with a bang, and the hits keep coming. It reminds me of one of my favorite quotes of all time by Rudy Tomjanovich: "Don't ever underestimate the heart of a champion." I can't wait to hear some new music.

Stop playing (58,720) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Guys stop playing with my heart seriously. It can only take so much excitement. I thought we won't get any Mariah music anytime soon so to think there might be a song lurking out there is uber exciting and to top that off, if it is in a genre we never got from Mariah, it's even more exciting. But the report as of now is not that strong so I don't want to get sad later when it turns out to be false. I think an EDM track with Mariah influences can be quite nice. Justin recently has done a good blend of EDM and RnB so let's see.

Electronic Dance Music (58,719) by Terna from Nigeria
As the name implies is dance music which Mariah has done for years (16 number 1s on the Billboard dance charts) so how is she not staying true to herself? The only difference is they were remixes but if this rumour is true (which I do hope it is), this would be the first time she's making a dance genre lead single. I have a good feeling about this.

Re: Superstar (58,714) (58,718) by B from USA
I hope her work with Calvin is similar to her work with C+C Music Factory. I didn't mean Adele records EDM music just that I hope Adele's success inspires Mariah to write straightforward ballads with big chorus.

Re: Superstar (58,715) (58,716) by darrian liu from taiwan
I've been suggesting Mariah to incorporate elements of EDM to update her signature sound for quite a long time now, I think she can definitely pull it off. However, like you said, I'd rather see her flop but stays true artistically to herself than scoring hits with music she doesn't love. But I'm still excited and hoping she would do it because it's a new thing for Mariah. However, as long as the new song is good, I'm more than happy.

Re: Superstar (58,714) (58,715) by Bill from the UK
Indeed. But Adele hasn't jumped on the EDM band wagon. If Mariah and Calvin are working together then I hope the style remains true to Mariah. Something in the vein of Meteorite or YDKWTD would work. I'd hate for MC to compromise her integrity for the sake of a hit. Especially if she does venture into EDM and it fails. She managed a hit with Beautiful which was a fresh, well executed track, so she's still more than capable of pulling it out the bag on her own.

Re: Superstar (58,705) (58,714) by B from USA
I hope this is true. Rhianna, Beyonce, and The Weekend have all incorporated EDM into their music, a hybrid of EDM and R&B. I also hope she's working with Miguel Frank Ocean and Happy Perez. She needs to update her signature sound by working with the moment producers without selling out like her peers. She needs to stay true to who she is and experiment a little. Adele's success proves a well written song can succeed.

Lamb support (58,713) by Zachary from Croatia
I know some of you will think that this is lame but I just opened my twitter account and I am trying to figure it out and to get some followers so I decided to write here also. I am a huge Mariah fan and it would be a great pleasure for you to contact me on twitter so that we can talk about Mariah and her music, old and hopefully brand new soon. You can find as @zacharaja. Big hug from Croatia.

Re: Superstar (58,708) (58,710) by Sarah from Netherlands
Calvin Harris implies a dance-y track, right? Can't say I'm excited about that. But knowing Mariah, even if it is true (although she's spoken out against the EDM bandwagon) she'll come out with an R&B/Hiphop version as well.

It's really happening? (all caps) I'm really excited for this. I pray that this will be a hit single. Damn, the second coming of Mimi, anyone?
