Madonna had say that BBC radio is not playing her music because ageism. I'm surprised about that comment because I thought that she was a smart person and knows the rules of the game. I don't think that is about an ageism thing. This happens with everybody that has been in the music business for several years. It happened last year with Mariah and will happen with other singers. You have your glory days and your music is everywhere, but as time goes by new singers, styles will come to the crowd and radio give them your place. It's really hard for a singer to remain in this industry for so many years, they have their peak but then they are not as relevant as they were years ago even if you have a great album out there. I think she started to embrace the LGBT community after her divorce, especially starting during the Charmbracelet era. She is more like "gay friendly" than "activist". I loved it. It's great how she talks about how she does not consider herself a pop artist and that even though she may look ambiguous, she loves to make black music - hip hop/r&b/soul music. For those on the board who want to white wash her and watch her sing MOR ballads for the rest of her life. I loved how she talked about her voice and how she needs a special mic to her creative approach and how much she used to love dance/techno/house/edm music because it was so freeing and how she throws shade at it now because it became so watered down and mainstream and colorless. I hope when she comes back that she does more interviews where she discusses her creative process. It shows how much of a musician she is. Like Fantasia said, "Mariah is music." I am so excited to go see Mariah in May and July. My boyfriend and I are going because of the HRC performance. We were discussing about Mariah's involvement with her gay fans. Just because all of Mariah's competition and colleagues have left the industry does not mean we have to compare her to Madonna in any way. They are not from the same era. Mariah's era was people like Tony Braxton, Shaniah Twain, you get the idea. Lol. There's no one to compare her to since she's the only one still going. Mariah has her market all to herself. It's her fault for not using this to her advantage tbh. I think Mariah is going through mental situations, possibly borderline personality disorder. I've been really studying her ever since I took the course (I'm no expert). One can not explain the current state she's in, from the way she acts to the way she dresses, she has too much baggage from the past still lamenting and fermenting in her brain. The woman Mariah today is not the same woman Nick married 6 years ago and certainly not the Mariah from 10 years ago, and so forth (has nothing to do with wisdom or age). Guys stop being closed minded and realize she probably is going through something more serious that we make it out to be. My theory on her right know is that she's discovered that she is "old" now, there for she has let herself go just to come to terms with it. That interview was everything I needed in life from MC. It is her best interview anyone's ever done. She is articulated, interesting, and covers a wide range of topics from her ethnicity to how she preserves her voice and what she thinks of different producing partners. Everyone whether there a lamb, fan, or hater needs to hear this interview. I thought I knew everything about her and yet she revealed herself to be much more introspective and reflective than I ever thought she was. MC details everything about her voice from performing uninhibited when she started out to holding back now vs the variables of performing live that can shape how she sounds across different scales of her voice. She also talks about David Cole encouraged her to show off her upper range on her second album and how she hired a lamb, Teresa who works for her team who also serves as a realist for her to know how she is perceived among her fans. This interview was so special and made me miss MC so much. I want to come back swinging and get her mojo back to how she was around the time of this interview. She clearly is hurt right now and I believe in her talent to spin that hurt into musical magic a la Butterfly. I hope she gets inspired again from her Butterfly room and the love of her fans on this board who love to post about her on a daily basis to push on and succeed. I agree with the person who posted that Mariah sometimes drops hints in advance, like about the collaboration with Miguel. The hint that she was moving to Epic was dropped years back, way before MIAM released and even before the original release date of TAOLG. It was a twitter conversation between MC and LA Reid, where LA Reid wrote something about something being "epic" and Mariah tweeted back with (again I can't remember exactly what she said) and it also had the keyword "epic". Her VIP packages are sold out and in true MC fashion her most expensive and cheapest tickets are selling out fast. Some are only down to single seat availability. Other than that all mid-section seats are available for all dates. But, it depends on how many you are buying. There's only so many seats available together in so many sections. As we get closer to the concert dates the tickets will start selling more quickly. As much as this board likes to dwell on the negative, her Jamaican concert did also receive good reviews and some fans really enjoyed it. As a result her Las Vegas concerts received a bump in ticket sales. This impromptu performance she's going to put on tomorrow will speed things up even faster. Even more so if she's on point. You might want to hurry. The site might give you some trouble saying there's no tickets available on the diagram, but you can try clicking on another section and it may display possibilities there.
