This is a proof that a song can touch some people, but not everyone. I never understood how this song could reach the top of Billboard.

I happen to like Out Of The Woods. It has this sense of urgency. I get the sense that if it succeeds, Tay's so gonna milk the 1989 high by releasing a seventh single. I hope she releases Clean or You Are In Love. Say what you want about TS, but the girl definitely has a way with choruses. Which is why I love Blank Space and Style. Especially Style. Definitely the best song in 1989. That should've gone to #1 and not Bad Blood. I understand hype and how it works, but that song just reeked of desperation.

While it's true that Rihanna is the current artist who has the most potential to break Mariah's record (she has 13 #1s and she's only 27), I wouldn't count on her releasing an album within this year. It would be wise of her not to, especially not with Hurricane Adele in full force. Judging by the under-performance of the singles that she released last year, I think she'll be going back to the drawing board as something obviously wasn't clicking. Adele's comeback put the fear of God in a lot of artists - One Direction, Justin Bieber, Sam Smith, Ariana Grande. Rihanna definitely followed suit. I believe she released the cover art for ANTI days before Adele dropped Hello. That was a total momentum killer. If I were her, I'd start from scratch. At her age and with her popularity, she's already experienced such slump. It's hardly a MIAMTEC moment, but it seems to be shaping up like one, and at least Mariah had hers at 44 in an ageist industry.

I've also wondered that. Do you recall when she says that she was not happy with certain translations of her songs. Hero in Spanish sounds a little weird as far as the translation.

That song is awesome. The video is so simple yet so beautiful. There are quite a lot of MC songs that can be released now and still sound fresh. Shows what a great writer she is.

"Bad Blood", "Out Of The Woods", "Shake It Off" are the songs I find lame. I enjoy "wildest Dreams", "Style" and "Blank Space".

As far as I know, I think that she recorded My All, Open Arms and Hero in Spanish. They are all available on YouTube.

Don't forget about us (58,963)

I don't remember if I posted about this song, but it's been awhile since I last heard it. It still sounds as fresh as it did when it was first released. And this is why Mariah is "the queen" and hit maker. She knows how to write and produce a song as well as delivering musically. "DFAU" is probably one of her best hits ever. Would still make it to number one today had she never released it. The video is also nicely done.

I always wondered why Mariah never recorded a whole album in Spanish. It would have been perfect in '96 or '98. I'm really surprised Tommy never had Mariah do it for the purpose of crossing over to Latin market and making more fans. I love Thalia but Mariah obviously has a better stronger voice. JLo's Spanish albums were all flops lol. Too bad Mariah never did one. It would have been successful, especially with great songs. Whenever I hear "Mi todo" and "Hermosa" I'm so blown away on how amazing she sounds.

Exactly, there are factors that determine chart positions that the public does not know about. You have to be a really strong artist inside to take on certain people in big corporates to fight for your number 1. That is why Mariah succeeded so far in getting the most number 1 hits. She was not afraid to take on certain people in the industry. Another example, both Mariah and Celine started with Sony in 1990. Celine was a follower and not a leader. Mariah took control and became a leader and not follower and pretty much did what she wanted to. Had she been a one dimensional singer what Tommy wanted her to be, then she would not have 18 number 1 hits by now. She had to fight for it and work twice as hard to assume creative control.

Great observation Lee. I just knew the photo was recent and I couldn't put my finger on why I believed that so strongly. It turns out that I had seen the picture that you linked and subconsciously I must have noticed that the hair looked the same.

Bikini moment (58,956)
by Lee TS from USA

Now I love me a Mariah in a bikini moment, love it and love them all. But her in that red wetsuit was so freaking sexy. Like she still stuns me as if I'm seeing her for the first time. The hair flip moment, magical. But that festive version of her doing TAOLG pose and her hair flowing with the slight head tilt, oh my gosh, I literally can't even.

I don't know I thought it was obvious that the bikini shot was new, maybe because I saw this other photo of her with some people, where she was wearing that long black Letterman dress under a kimono thing. Weird. And she was wearing the same makeup and hair. I usually look at her photos by the makeup she wears, and her makeup was not the best. One obvious go to would be her belly button post birth. But hey, if people think the picture is over 10-15 years old that's a huge compliment.

It's definitely new. The people saying it's a throwback picture are confusing it with this photo from 2006 and this photo from 2003. That's why they think they have seen it before but it's just that Mariah is posing in a similar way. The photo is new and was possibly take the same day as this photo, judging by the hairstyle.

So finally we get the much requested bikini moment. I have seen some article post the new bikini shot Mariah posted and people are swearing up and down that it's an old picture and they are sure about it. Haha haters having a hard time believe that Mariah has actually lost so much weight. At first even I thought Stella is at it again, posting the 2006 famous bikini shots of her in the emerald bikini. But wow Mariah, she looks gorgeous. I am sure most people are thinking of the 2006 photos or 2003 photo (from Lee TS avatar) when they saw this picture and so they think it's old. Others are saying it is edited but come on it's not like she is stick thin in the pictures. She looks the same size she did in the paparazzi shots. So the queen is back. Now I want a music video.

Dear Mimi L. I think that you too have misunderstood the point that I was trying to make. You need not sing praises of other singers on a Mariah forum. I have clearly stated my opinion and you fail to understand that and misinterpret it as a fact. If you cannot comprehend that I used the other singers as a point of reference to provide examples then you need to read my posts again until you understand it. You are using emotion and not rational thinking in your statements. I again maintain that Rihanna's 13 number 1 hits is still not a threat to Mariah. I am not revealing my real name or location, but what I can say is that I have inside information as to how a number 1 hit is awarded. It is based on many factors not just the age, sales and airplay only. Knowing this, I am certain that Rihanna won't take over our queen's crown. She may get at least 2 more hits but it becomes very difficult then because of certain factors that are determined by the industry and Billboard. That is why, despite having a good album with MIAM, Mariah was not able to get a number 1 hit. Part of the reason has to do with industry politics and many other factors that ate confidential. Now that Mariah is back with Sony, I am certain that she will get another number 1 hit for reasons that I cannot explain. Employees of Billboard, especially senior management are usually not allowed to show favouitism to any artist or be part of fan clubs so it is difficult to get information from them but trust me, senior management at Billboard knows how the formulae works.

Just for your information, Katy Perry is definitely in her prime: Her last album debuted atop with 200k units sold and it produced 2 #1 hits. Her last world tour is her most successful to date and it is the highest-grossing tour by female artist for 2014. And she is the "Top-Earning Women In Music" for 2015, which our queen placed at #9. I'm saying this just to have a right and equal information about other artists because it's unfair for them and to their followers. Lastly, please stop abasing other artist especially when it's not even true and as I read your message, I think it's too far for being an opinion because you are clearly stating your facts.
