New music and past era (55,678)
by Carol from Spain
| |
|
|
Everyone is so concerned with JB appearing on the photo and her new music. Well why are you so worried? We know nothing about the song (or songs) and we should be happy she is in the studio again. If I could suggest something, I wish Mariah would do a ballad next. Forget the club bangers, forget the cute lyrics, I want a tear dropping tune, with a strong lyrics. And she is happy with James, so why not ? Can't wait for this new era and, despite all the drama surrounding MC this last year, I loved MIAM and I totally understand why she didnt promote. I accept the outcome but I wouldn't call it a flop cause for me, it's one of her best works and in time I'm sure people will understand how majestic this album is. Bring on new music Miss Mariah Carey because your lambily can't wait.

Tomorrow it's August 5, it's the day she gets her so awaited and well deserved star in Hollywood. I don't care it took 25 years, I only pay attention to the fact that she is getting it. Am I the only one who wonders about the wardrobe choice for tomorrow? A goen for sure lol, but how will she kneel next to the star? Lol the drama of not knowing.

My point exactly. You're delusional. How many times have you posted "she is slowly but surely losing the weight"? "In recent pics she looks slimmer." Just stop. I thought so too but she hasn't. I too agree with Lee about missing her Barbie legs. But Mandy girl, no. Aside from Mariah's weight, her voice has improved. And she's still the best voice today.

Eminem (55,672)

I don't think Eminem ruined her. If anything "Obsessed" got Mariah a lot of new fans. Teenagers and all who thought the song was cool. She got more street cred with that song and people thought that she was cool to come up with such a flawless diss. When Mariah used the line from "Mean Girls", that line became a household line. People used it and back and forth and even now it's still used and Mariah is credited not the movie. Mariah's fandom has been getting smaller ever since she ditched what people call her "classic" sound and moved towards R&B. Some of her older listeners slowly left her. I don't think it has anything to do with Eminem. Obsessed cracked top 10. It went to #7 and would have climbed even above that because it was truly a catchy pop song. What ruined Mariah was one bad decision after another with her release strategies until a point came where everyone just thought that it's too late now. She jumped back up with #Beautiful but yet again due to unfortunate events it died. This is not a shade at Mandy, this is just my opinion.

Thickriah. Are you serious? It is very mean-spirited, hateful and hurtful to call her that. You should be ashamed of yourself. Imagine how poor Mariah would feel if she ever read that. Please send us a picture of your perfectly proportioned body in your next post.

Mariah now / Eminem damage (55,670)
by JAXGH from United States

|

Mariah is still pretty nonetheless, her face is just getting a little chubbier. She needs to lose the face weight. Her figure really isn't that bad. She looks full and thick in night gowns. She still got that awkward tummy from the pregnancy but that be can be easily covered with patterns and curve hugging dresses (example: red dress on her insta 5 weeks ago). So yeah I'm okay with her weight. It's harder to lose weight now since she's 45 and her metabolism isn't as strong so she has to work twice as hard. I'm worried about her voice. It's not as pretty as before. Sounds old and hoarse. I don't know if the magic isn't there. Vocals are there but the voice is not. She actually sounded relatively pretty til E=MC2 then around Memoirs the voice changed. (It was still better than now.) You can tell by the Christmas album she started using auto tune a lot. Also does anyone else think she's remixing Obsessed? She posted a pic 3 days ago. I hope not. Speaking of, after Eminem's diss track, people just started to drop Mariah. And her downfall started to happen. Like a lot of people just started seeing her as "a liar, fake and a [censored]". Nobody even cared about Memoirs. She actually took the hardest diss record in the industry ever. It's sad, Eminem totally murdered her. It even hurts me just listening to it. Eminem really ruined her reputation. It's like heartbreaking. Whatever though, still talented, still successful. 200 million sold and 18 number 1s. Can't take that away.

Weight gain (55,669)
by Billy from England, UK

I really wish she was slimmer again like in 2008. I thought she looked at her best then or even when #Beautiful was out she started to look fab again. I'm not hating just want my idol to look amazing. Also I was thinking if she is depressed she may be on antidepressents which I read can make you gain weight when taking them, but who knows? She is a rich woman and should have the best fitness instructor to keep her in shape.

Looking at recent pictures of Mariah it's obvious she's losing weight. I don't think being able to see the difference between a photo taken months ago and a photo taken this week makes me delusional, lol. Oh well.

Weight (55,667)
by Philipp from Switzerland

I personally also think it wouldn't hurt if Mariah would loose a little weight. I feel like she is wearing sexy clothes, but she doesn't come across very sexy or "erotic" so to say in these clothes. During the Butterfly/Rainbow era she also wore a lot sexy clothes that revealed a lot, and back then I got a sexy-erotic-vibe from her/her style. These days she just doesn't look as hot, because her clothes are always so tight that she looks unconfortable in it. This is just my opinion. In case I sounded like a pervert, I'm gay (just saying lol).

Hey, is anyone of you a member of Mariah's official fanclub Honey B. Fly? I just signed up and I'm surprised that it seems to be for free. Am I doing anything wrong or does it really cost nothing? I want to go see her Christmas shows, that's why I hope that fanclub members will get a early pre-sale or something. I will fly all the way from Switzerland to New York.

Fashion post (55,664)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

Mariah actually looked great in the jeans-black tank top-cream cardigan thing she wore just 2-3 days back. Although I could do without the cardigan but she looked great nevertheless. She also looked great in the gray tank top and jeans she wore to the beach the other day. But that silver shiny top she wore 2 days back was bad. I am with B, Licia and Marissa about how Mariah's fashion choices are what's mainly wrong. Ditch the long gowns. Go for knee length dresses, jeans-tee combos and less of the boobs. We have established that the boobs are nice and shapely, now they can rest covered in expensive material. I'd give more fashion advice to Mariah but then "one of us has got to pick the phone up" and/or Edward is going to fashion-post shame me again. Haha joking.

Lol, no one said Mariah wasn't good looking. She is. I really like you B. You're a real, loving dedicated fan but sometimes you can be a bit delusional. I have been reading this board for years now before I started posting. And I can't tell you how many times I have seen "she is slowly losing the weight". How long does it really take to lose weight? Mariah isn't obese, just a few pounds heavier. So what's the problem?

Thanks. I too had at one point this year put behind the hope of another hit so I get where you are at right now. We have all been through multiple hypes of the next #1 only to be frustrated with the roll out and messy unsure plans. But I do believe, (as I'm sure you do too) that Mariah still can get hits if she really tries. Honestly if a song like JLo's "Booty" can crack top 20, and Britney's "Pretty Girls" can hit top 30, don't you think YME and "Infinity" could have charted higher if they were given more exposure? WBT would not have been such a big hit no matter how beautiful and brilliant the song is had it not gotten the exposure that it got in 2005. And to think that it was 10 years back when people still bought music and people were rooting for a comeback and now its 2015 when current artists are struggling and people have small attention spans, it is absolutely essential for the promo to be on point or else it's difficult to chart. Plus the song needs to be refreshing and the video needs to be good for it to manage to climb into the top 10. With her current team, she may be able to achieve that, but the planning needs to be done well. Let's not have a major roll out for an album cover and then wait for a month after the song to release the video.

Her weight (55,661)
by Licia from USA
| |
|
|
She looks OK to me. I actually prefer her with a little weight. Regardless though she's gorgeous skinny or bigger. As B said it's not her weight that is the problem, it's what she chooses to wear. Some of her clothes as of lately have just been plain old unflattering. There were a couple of outfits from her vacation that were to die for and she looked fabulous. She worked that extra weight in those dresses (especially that silver one). I'm not going to stay on this subject too long because it's hilarious that one poster got mad because we keep saying her wetsuits were ugly, unflattering, and made her look bigger than what she is, yet every other post he's dogging her about her weight. Lol.

Thanks and girl don't even get me started on the re-release marathon. Haha I think we already went on a rant session about the re-release of the original Christmas album a while back. I am still not into re-release because it already got re-released a couple of times and secondly it's clear that this album is the last album that the GP needs to be reminded of because if one Mariah album consistently sells for sure every year, it's the Christmas album. L.A. is living in the past. I can't deal with this man.

French/Justin collab (55,659)
by 123 from USA

I’m not going to judge until I hear it. Not worried though, she hit a sweet spot on that last album and even though Infinity was a miss step, there are always songs on each album that I love, but they never end up being singles. Gone are the Def Jam days of no LA, no promo, and poor single choices. Sony always knew how to push her and her new team was just what she needed. She probably had Justin do backgrounds and do the bottom end of the harmony like James Fauntleroy did on Dedicated with her. Having a male voice sing harmonies with her is always a complimentary contrast that I hope she continues.

Mariah admitted that she's struggling to get back to her Touch My Body weight but she is slowly but surely losing the weight. Recent pics show just that. Saying she isnt good looking is absurd, even at her heaviest she was still stunning. I agree her ensembles of late have been lacking but that can easily be fixed. Poor Mariah, people love to complain.

Weight (55,656)
by Nick from Maryland

|

As for her weight, I believe she has gained some weight due to some type of medication for her vocals in Vegas or from the effects of the divorce (drinking/depression) because we know that she does care about her appearance. But I think she will have to lose weight for the Game Of War commercials she's going to be doing. The other day there was a picture of some guys bringing exercise equipment into her place in Malibu so that's great.

Mimi L / new era (55,654)
by Marissa from USA

I loved your post. You are so right. For the next era, not only the music and songwriting, but the promotion needs to well planned also. That's always the part that falls flat, but ultimately that determines how successful the material will be. I personally have let go of my desire for Mariah to get another #1. I don't care anymore. I have been through enough eras getting hyped for songs that had mediocre chart success at best. I'm over that. Now all I want is for her to have good press, stay humble and continue to make stellar music (hopefully she's get it together with the lackluster videos too). As far as her weight, I want her to be whatever weight she is because she chose to and would prefer to look that way, not because she just gave up or got lazy. That's all I will say on that. She doesn't look bad though.

You've said a mouthful and I couldn't agree more. I'm all for her taking whatever time she needs to get stuff ready. Her and LA Reid need to just give us a 3 disc compilation of unreleased tracks to keep the fans quiet until she's really prepared to release new material. No re-releasing albums that already make money every year.

Dear Mariah (55,651)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
I've said this before but I'll just say this again in the hopes that if Mariah's team reads this board, they will take this into consideration. Please don't jump into another era until you are sure that you can give it your all and by "your all" I don't mean that just the writing and singing but what comes before and after the making of the album too. The last few eras have been really messy and we can trace it back to 2009-10 with the "will she, will she not" release the remix album for Memoirs. Two remix videos released but not pushed. Bad single/video choices. We can even go back and say that the decline started from post TMB 2008 when Mariah eloped, but I'll leave that out since she did start trying again from the initial stages of Memoirs. Things went bad after L.A quickly left behind "Obsessed" instead of pushing it more. Since then (with the exception of MCIIY) we had one bad era after another. Each era getting the fans excited with hopes of the next chart topper only to leave them frustrated with delays, absurdly bad single choices (it's like they intentionally are leaving out singles the public are demanding) and extremely bad album/single roll out and promo plans. I won't even get into the disastrous videos. With 2015 we again went crazy with hope for "Infinity" which was apparently going to be the next WBT (not musically but success wise) at least that's what everyone thought when the hint was dropped with the two song titles side by side. But then we ended up with a bad roll out and a video that came over a month after the song and a song which although is good, it was never #1 material. Anyways, I just want to say other than "infinity" Mariah's new team has proven to be very competent and great at turning her image around so I hope she takes advantage of it. I just want to say please, please, please have all your ducks in a row before you announce your next project. If you need time, take it, but continuously taking up projects and dropping them when they don't succeed is going to only cause more harm. Just to clarify, Vegas is not in my list of projects that has gone wrong. I think Vegas did her a lot of good and improved her voice and confidence. I am writing this plea as a fan who loves you and adores you and wishes to see you back on the top of the charts where you belong. I need you to shut people up one more time. I need the Mariah who said "if they counted me out, they'll just have to count me back in".
