Infinity (52,758)

I saw some snippets of the music video and she looks fab. This may be her 19th if everything goes well. I'm happy that even non-lambs seem to like it. She needs support not just from lambs and it being universal (plus a cool video to accompany it) she'll make another history. Yasss.

I don't get it (52,757)
by Jon from Netherlands
| |
|

I don't understand why when someone doesn't include quotes when mentioning a song it gets censored but when someone uses violent imagery it doesn't. Clearly the person using this kind of speech doesn't know better so it would be pointless to argue with her. It's up to the webmaster to censor it. Maybe it went unchecked. I hope so. We can all have different opinions but violence is a bit too far.

Infinity / Edward (52,756)
by Licia from USA

This will be my last post about Infinity. I've been a fan since the beginning. I know that she us capable of songs better than Infinity. It's not the words that I don't like, it's just that the song seems like it's missing a lot and incomplete. I've supported her for 25 years and I will continue to support her as long as she puts out music I enjoy. If not liking one song makes me a bad fan then so be it (I'm still going to post my thoughts either way). I won't be bullied into liking or supporting anything I don't like. I respect anyone who likes the song. That's your choice. I won't bash anyone who likes the song, but some of you have went out of your way to bash people who've expressed that they don't like it. Edward I hate to see you go. I've enjoyed reading your posts. You tell it like it is whether it's good or bad and you do so respectfully. Hope you return sooner rather than later.

"If there’s any confusion, they’re welcome to come to my house and sing in the shower with me. It’s not a problem." - Mariah Carey Here is a little video I found of MC singing in the shower as a gift to B. Scott on her birthday. Sounds lovely.

First Stephen, now you Edward? Noooooo. Us level-headed fans have to stick together. Don't stay away to long. Marissa, your post (52,749) is one of the most well written posts of what I've also tried to explain for years. Maybe i'ts an age thing being 37. I just don't get bothered if someone disagrees with me. I don't take it personally if someone loves a song I can't stand. I don't call them out with a post. I don't get bothered when a faceless person says crap to me. It ain't that deep. Anyways, always enjoy your posts. Some will never "get it".

Infinity and Vegas residency (52,752)
by Emmanuel from Canada
| |
|
|
Overall, I am happy with the song. Is it among her best work? No. Is it the worst song ever? No. There are moments in Infinity that I love such as the "Ouh ahh, ouh ahh"s and the "Infinity, loving me more and more" chant. However, her voice sounds tired and strained in some areas. Also, I feel like the verses are poorly written. In any event, I will support the song because Mariah needs the lambily. I give her A for effort. In terms of the residency, I believe she is going to kill it. She really knows what the people want and I think she is smart to do the setlist in chronological order. Mariah season is coming people.

Question (52,750)
by B from USA
| |
|
|
On Mariah's acclaimed album TEOM she was singing her house in Capri, owning a G4, and that Benz with the doors that lift up from the floor. Mariah Carey has always had fun with her lyrics. It's not that deep. It's a catchy song with a strong chorus and clever verses. Either you love it or you hate but I think our efforts would be put to better use promoting Mariah's single and residency than infighting. Just a suggestion. Mariah's smart, this song has received rave reviews from critics and the lyric video is nearing three million views in less than a week.

Why are people acting shocked by the same old, same old? (52,749)
by Marissa from USA
| |
|
|
I don't understand why people act shocked at how the board divides the minute Mariah releases something new. That's what happens when you're dealing with hundreds/thousands of different people. Some people like it, some don't. Scolding and bullying people out of the fanbase is useless. We need to learn how to coexist, because this board is never going to be the utopia that some of you are hoping for. If your mood or happiness depends on a "negative" lamb fleeing the board then you are giving your power away. The world doesn't change to accomodate what you want. You have to make a change within yourself and consciously choose to be happy regardless of what someone else is posting. Also, just because you don't like a damn song doesn't mean that you don't support Mariah and you need to hightail it out of the fanbase. It really ain't that deep. If people can get over "Boy, I Need You" than this song will eventually be a distant memory to those who don't like it as well. Next.

I love people and have had a difficult life than most people in their entire lifetime. I appreciate my knowledge and understand the meaning of respect and love by faith. This board is completely off my text radar for now. Like I said yesterday, the balance is completely off. Its always one sided on both sides and it's just a waste of energy posting on here. I just feel tired of staying the positive one and also understanding the truth, while everyone else acts like children. I am an adult who is a lot younger than most of you here. I am 23 years old. I might not have known or understood Mariah Carey until mid 2000 unlike most of you 90s folks, but I am a true lamb. I will accept change needed for her and I will agree to disagree. However, I will not subject my character nor positive attitude to the trolls on this messageboard anymore. Abraham you know I agree with you on everything and will not judge what you say or argue like you and Bill are currently doing. The same goes for you as well Bill. You make excellent points as well. You both should realize your views are different and move on as the lambs I know you both are. Everyone else I hope you all enjoyed my posts and I really enjoy most of you. Try not to argue with each other as much and maybe I might come back. Shelly stay positive sweety and I love all people regardless of what happens. It's a trait I feel you and I, Shelly, have as well. I will check back every 2 to 3 weeks but now I must leave.

"When I say that I'm okay, well, they look at me kinda strange" (52,747)
by Dove from USA

Most people are afraid to show their uniqueness. They try to be popular or likable, to fit in with everyone else. It's a fact that it is impossible to have everyone like you, there are always people who will find a flaw in you or something to comment about. It's better to embrace yourself than pretend to be someone you aren't to please others. MC, just do you. On a side-note: I also need to take a break.

To Vegas and Infinity (52,746)
by May from Denmark

I love you Edward, you're such a grounded person. I will be taking a break from the board, because while it is my guilty pleasure to read it, the vibe and tone hasn't been great lately. I have a happy life and I much rather enjoy my art, my garden, my daughter and husband in this vacations of hims than coming here to read unpleasent posts. My husband yesterday gave me the surprise that we will be going to Las Vegas, after we visit part of his family in the US, which was a trip planned last year. I won't let anything spoil this amazing feeling. I will probably be checking the board in a week or so to see how people are enjoying in the early stages of MC's show. While I was going to take the break before the trip (which is scheduled slightly end of this month) I will be taking an early one. I'm hoping for Mariah to do nice, just like in her last Vegas show. But I feel this one will be a special one.

Again, that's your opinion. What can't you comprehend about somebody having an opposing view to you? Newsflash, you're not always right. I think Infinity is better than several of her songs, and one of the freshest compositions she's put out in a while. It's my opinion, and liking a song is subjective. You can't claim it to be a bad song as a "fact" just because you don't happen to like it. I couldn't stand Uptown Funk, yet I appreciate thousands and thousands of people loved it. I'd never claim any song is bad or awful as a fact. Except Boy (I Need You) of course.

Time for break (52,742)
by Edward from USA
| |

I've been posting here for many years now, but now I'm also taking a break. For those going to Vegas, I hope you all have a great time. For those who aren't afraid to state your opinion (positive or not so positive), don't let anybody bully you anonymously behind a computer screen. It is very easy being "Super Heroes" wannabe's when nobody sees you and when the "Save the World" superpowers are just schizophrenic voices inside their heads. Have a great summer.

The hype (52,741)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
One of the reasons I think some fans are disappointed about "Infinity" is because it didn't live up to the much hyped up publicity behind it. Since it was going to be only one new song, many fans thought it would be pure brilliance, not just an OK track. Mariah hyped up "Infinity" as she did "Obsessed" back then, both tracks are dissing tracks, but "Obsessed" had a better beat/hook and structure. The difference is that had "Obsessed" tanked, we still had a whole album to look forward to. It isn't the case with "Infinity". Now we have to wait for another two years before Mariah comes out with a decent album. Taking a risk with a track like "Infinity" without a great video to compensate wasn't a good idea. Obviously Mariah hasn't shed the pounds for a Honey-like type of video, so let's not expect that magically she's going to come with a Hearbreaker/Honey type of production, but rather something rushed like "H.A.T.E.U.", "Bye Bye" or "You're Mine (Eternal)". I'm just disappointed that such a potential title went to waste like that. I hope the laryngitis, lack of sleep, earpiece, divorce won't turn out to be an excuse once again should her Vegas debut don't go right.

The board has gotten way too heavy. I'm sure I'll be back at some point, but right now, it's just not been pleasant (for me). Mariah is an inspiration. Thanks so much to everyone I've met here, the friends I have made, and the sharing of music by fans of a great artist and a wonderful generous spirit. Love to all.

Randy, Gisselle / I guess (52,736)
by Edward from USA

|

I guess we got hooked on Mariah when her music and delivery were pure quality, so we keep expecting what she got us used to. You can't just experience the 90's euphoria about Mariah without having lived those days, not matter how many times you YouTube it or listen to her back catalog. It was a moment in time that those who didn't experience it won't be able to fully understand it. The complain was about great music that she couldn't replicate live, now it is no so great studio music she can't still replicate live. So where do we go from here? Well, I guess the faster we realize that things aren't going to get better, the easier we could let go off those high expectations and just buy her music and support her when the music is at least good. At this point I feel that it is pointless having to defend her by being in denial about what we clearly know. When people think that Mariah is trying to imitate Ariana, then there must be something very wrong. Putting them together in the same sentence is considered acceptable. Mariah might not be as relevant as the super lamb thinks she is. And for those cursing out loud, having a big nasty mouth won't necessarily make your point of view any more valid. Take a chill pill, it ain't that deep, you might suffocate in the middle of your diatribe. Peace out.

Thank you so much for that message. I literally choked at "go choke on a bag of Fritos". That was great. I respect you so much for the entire message. I also wish people would stop with the negativity. Just because you think it's a terrible song, doesn't mean everyone does. Let's just be positive. Let's be grateful that after the mishandling of such an amazing album as Me. I Am Mariah, Mariah, her management, and her team seem pretty on top of things. I'm just happy that as a young lamb, I can finally see an era where Mariah will be on TV and in magazines and (hopefully) on the radio just like so many of you have witnessed multiple times. I wish that instead of bashing her, we just hope for the best and help Mariah to make her comeback. She needs her fans now more than ever. I hope you all feel the same.

The public vs lambs (52,732)
by Jono from USA
| |
|
|
I think the reason why the public seems to love Infinity more than lambs (which I don't think has ever happened in this history of ever) is because most of them are unaware of the brilliant but overlooked works that Mariah has put out. To them, it has been Touch My Body, Obsessed, Beautiful, and now Infinity. Of the four, I would say Infinity is the "showiest" so obviously a lot of people are going to say it's a return to form. The general public, unlike us lambs, didn't hear MIAM so it's understandable that some of us may not be as behind Infinity as the rest of the world is. Tbh, I was surprised to see the amount of positive press for the single, considering it's not even her best work in the last 7-8 years. However, I will reiterate what Mariah has said, this song was written specifically to 1) promote the Vegas residency and 2) provide the closing number to her setlist. If Mariah wanted a true radio hit, she would have done it. Infinity has that show closing feel. I'm not concerned with how Infinity does on the charts. I'm more concerned about how Mariah will do on opening night. Considering how the promo has gone for this era, they are making sure that everything is on point. And I am expecting Mariah to be on her A game opening night when the whole world is watching. No excuses. Sending positive vibes for the big day on Wednesday.
