This is something I have felt for a long time now. The articles always made me feel like the writers have definitely been sneaking around in the forums. The only time I can buy them actually writing the stories from their own is when MC clearly messes up on stage or like the isolated audio incidents. Other than that 80% of the time, Mariah's fans are unknowingly bringing her down. The articles are usually going to only pick up the negative things posted and then run with it without bothering to fact check or see if other fans are feeling positive. So please, it's fine to criticize here and there but be a little considerate about what you post. I can assure you that MC's team and the hungry media (especially ones trying to bring her down) are always reading what we write especially on this board. So let us not kill our own idol's career. Mariah has made a lot of changes recently some directly from suggestions we all have discussed. Let the lambs not be the reason for Mariah's fall.

The wig and the pink dress (53,102)
by Elena from The Netherlands
| |
|
|
The wig didn't really bother me, but it does make her look huge. I like that she started with curls to accompany her songs from the early 90's, I think that was the idea and I like it. That dress does indeed look like a giant fish ate her. I also can't imagine it being comfortable for her and too hot. On the other hand, with 50 shows she's going to wear tons of different dresses I believe, so a few flaws here and there is alright.

MC is total control, not the other way around (53,101)

It doesn't matter what anyone says here or in the media, it's all up to Mariah. As long as she keeps putting on a great show, the good reviews and fans will keep coming. Everyone here just needs to take a chill pill. Seriously, everything is going to be ok. Mariah is doing awesome. Let's support her with love instead of this petty arguing with each other. Please, snap out of it.

I am so glad you posted that about the media lurking on this message and the lambs doing their job for them by backing up their hate with "facts". That's exactly what I meant in my previous post. Everyone is raving about her opening night in Vegas, even her haters. It shouldn't fall down to the lambs to bring her down again. Enough is enough. Give the woman a break. It's ok to be critical but some of you are just vile.

The pink dress (53,099)
by Luke from United Kingdom
| |
|
|
I actually like it haha. I wasn't keen on the silver and pink number but the layered one kinda reminded me of something from The Hunger Games, something Effie might wear. Anyway we should be used to Mariah's experimental personality, especially when it comes to her dresses. "I do not think I reinvent myself. Wearing my hair differently or changing my style of dress is playing dress-up. I don't take it too seriously." - MC

Debut performances live (53,098)
by Bill from the UK
| |
|
|
I cannot stop watching the performances of the #1s from the debut album. Love Takes Time was breath taking and heart breaking and it was so good to hear it live again after so many years. Someday was sassy, fun, and full of the same amount of energy and gumption as the Unplugged rendition. And as for I Don't Wanna Cry, all I can say is wow. So gritty, so raw, so much emotion. These songs, written in the innocence of youth by a young and determined teenager, now take on a whole new meaning considering poor Mariah's recent circumstances, and that is evident in these incredible performances. In the early days critics said Mariah's voice was impressive but not expressive, now emotion carries each performance. Truly she has mastered and fine tuned her art over the years. What a singer.

So we hating on the webmaster now? (53,097)
by this_is_qhm from the Philippines

Really? Like really now? Could the situation have been handled better? Probably. But we can't fault a site owner for reacting to negativity and probably snapping in the process. Let alone a fansite owner for well over a decade. Freedom of speech can only go so far. If we don't like how things are run around here, then we're probably on the wrong site, or better of creating similar sites of our own. We should be happy enough that the webmaster allows us to post a myriad of topics around here, even comments that blur the line between criticism and bashing. Since this is a fan site, admiration should always, always outweigh criticism on this board. Because more of the latter messes with the balance and overall vibe of the site and renders it pointless, not to mention uninviting to new fans. Negativity - that is what the rest of the internet is for, so why dump an excess of it here. Thank you, webmaster, for creating a site that has been a home for a lot of lambs for a long time.

Giving Mariah a break? (53,096)
by JC from UK
| |
|
|
Ive just watched a few clips of her first night in Vegas and must say she did well. She tried so hard on Someday and she still got it, just inconsistent I guess. Gotta give credit to her where its due though. Ive come to accept that the climax of WBT will never be live haha. But I do want to say one thing, I've seen comments on YT that people, lambs or not, should give her a break for not singing the 20+ year old songs perfectly and to give her time to get into it. Sorry, isn't that what rehearsals and vocal training is for? I would personally accept it if it was for a one off performance on national TV but this is a residency and something more important, if not the most important. Id like to think opening nights are the only chance you get to attract more audiences, not to progress throughout the show. In that case, would it be better to buy tickets to her later shows then? I'm happy with the way Vegas has gone for her, she's clearly becoming more confident with her voice.

Oh what has happened to the lamb-dom (53,095)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

When shows like Wendy Show and TMZ (two shows that have consistently dissd her for years now) and even the GP start to rave about Mariah and her show while her fans keep tearing MC apart, I think we can say we have hit rock bottom. I was waiting for Wendy to say "but" and add a snide comment to compensate for all the praises, but she didn't, instead she went on to rave about her outfits, her body and her confidence with her body and her voice. Even going as far as to say that MC probably cracked her voice on purpose all these months to fool people which lead to discussions about her. Now while we know MC did have vocal problems a while back so the struggles weren't on purpose, but still at least a semi-hater is coming up with excuses to suggest that her voice was never gone.

Media catching on the tricks (53,094)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
Well of course they will catch up. No, not because they observed her and found out, but because they lurk in Mariah fan forums and since some fans write all her tricks down in such vivid details, you all make their works really simple. I swear, I feel 80% of the times, everything bad caught on about MC is because her own fans details those in fan sites. I didn't read the NYT articles because I heard it's really harsh, but I can bet the cushion on my couch that they read a fan's post and picked up on this. Because no non-fan would know this. They covered whatever back up or lip sync was used very well this time so it seems seamless.

Re: Eric (53,079) (53,091)

Remember, this is a fansite for Mariah Carey. I have this website because I love her. I don't mind if you critizice things she sings, does or wears, but if you insult her, I will get pissed. So no, I won't apologize to MC1985 and other fans who always criticize everything she does, instead they should apologize to Mariah for always being so negative. It makes me sad that some fans leave this website because the mood is always so negative. It's like Mariah can do no good to some "negas" ("negas" are people who are always negative, just like "haters" are people who hate everything Mariah does). So in the future, if you insult Mariah, your message won't get posted. If you critize her, that's OK, but the criticism has to be fair. E.g. you may say you don't like Infinity, but if you call Mariah a cheater, your message will be deleted. Freedom of speech is a good thing, unless it hurts others.

Outfits / Mariah's voice (53,090)
by Ethan from United States
| |
|
|
I'm glad that some people here thought the pink dress is hideous. In fact, both are. Mariah has a blue dress in there and I don't know when she is going to switch it up. If you look at the ABC segment, you saw it in her closet. There's an IG pic of it as well during dress rehearsal. For her voice, fans like myself are not delusional. We did't say her voice is like the 90s. No one really sounds exactly the same since they started, especially for Mariah who sings very hard and technical. We have acknowledged that she can still sing. Not a 100% but at least 70% and 80-90% on good days. She's been touring for most of her albums so she's on the road. Unlike other artists, they haven't sang for a while or gone on tour so don't even compare them to Mariah. In addition, the NY Times review was kind of bullying and mean. The Guardian review was fair and gave constructed criticism. Now that's the difference. In addition, most of the critics have not really followed her tours. I think. I think she's damaged her voice a bit after the Charmbracelet tour. It was very extensive and she sang hard. She hasn't been singing that way since TEOM tour. She sings all her old songs sound a bit huskier and lower. The only best version of VOL since 90s is her performance of it on BET in 2005. In the end, most reviews are fair and positive except for one so far. Overall, she can still sing. Also, it's so much different being in-person at the theatre than watching clips on IG and YouTube. It's true.

Beautiful angel (53,089)
by David F from Mexico

Mariah has great reviews from Mirror, ABC etc, but the main thing is to understand she is there working like any other person, doing what she likes, ''singing''. It's her escape maybe to her personal troubles. A big artist like her needs to feel the connection with the people but directly, you know the applause and hear them singing along. She is a musician too, so she is super sensitive otherwise could never had written her big songs like Hero or ''Trough the Rain. And she seems tired of always fighting people her entire life for the reasons we all know. It's not easy to remain in these musical business, so she is trying to bring something she thinks we may like. I think radio plays are very important to call somebody's attention but from what I see it's obvious the money it's what turns them on. I miss the old days when a hit was based upon talent, big voice artists or at least good melodies. I said this because I lived in Anaheim a big period of time, I remember entering those records stores full of CDs, buying the singles and then the album. Those feelings are unique, people have changed so much, something way darker is ruling the world. Let's enjoy Mariah as she still is with us.

I am very proud of Mariah. She finally got a stage with the right props and decor that she deserves and gets to celebrate her 18 #1's properly. It's an emotional ride for her. This is 25 years of hard work and dedication. In every song there are memories for her how she created them and where she was in that time of her life. There must be a lot of that coming back, the good and the bad, then starting with a clean slate. I love how after the Daydream songs they did an interlude of Butterfly. It's clear why she wanted that in the show, because that album was a major turning point for her and I love how this was used before she started Honey. I love the set up of the show and I was really looking forward to my favorite MC song, IDWC. I accept her current state of her voice, and I think she slayed that song. It was a real treat. I loved her little acapella of TGIFY, wonderful. The screen behind her with Fantasy, superb, that's how it's supposed to be done. The guitar intro of My All, Dreamlover remix, all good stuff. The end high note on Infinity, where the violin run kicks in, chills and tears it gave me. So proud. The one critical point I have is her not moving around that much. When she does, it gives so much energy. She used to do that and it's important to own that stage to the maximum. It's really a simple thing that she can do something about and nobody will bother about her raspy vocals. Don't be harsh on her. She deserves this.

TGIFY Vegas performance (53,086)
by 123 from USA

Wow to this performance. I need her to embrace her darker, smokier tone. The way she played with areas of her voice from low and husky to whispery, to these soulful belts. You even hear people reacting to her singing. The ending is why she is Mariah Carey. I need some songs on the new album with these types of vocals and song direction.

I agree. Guys, please please please. Remember that this is a public message board. It's funny how things we discuss here turn up in some anti-Mariah article two days later saying fans are upset about this and that. Mariah has been serving the lambily with lipping since Butterfly. Her voice is not like it was in the 90s. Her high chest notes are only there on a good day, not every minute of every day. You either get that or you don't. But please don't bring your frustration here. It is you people who will destroy her career with the hateful things you post, not her lipping which she's been doing for well over a decade now. I can only advise you to stop being delusional and to face reality, this is what her voice sounds like today. The studio product is obviously much better than all her recent live performances combined as she can do several takes and pick the one where she sounds the best. I am content with that. She is a legend. If that doesn't do it for you anymore then don't listen to her new material, don't go to Vegas, don't support her. But don't bash her either. We are all so tired of hearing it. She is on the verge of silencing all her haters and yet you so-called lambs come here to destroy her. Keep it to yourselves please.

I like what I am seeing and hearing from MC alot. The clips, the promos, everything. As for Infinity, I do think that video should have been out already, but I assume her new people know more than I do since everything in this new era seems to be working. I will say this though, I don't hear her on the radio at all, and on Tuesday I heard Infinity on the local radio station. I never even heard #Beautiful. Granted I am from the Caribbean and from an island of 1.3 million people, but it says something about the market penetration and what's been happening behind the scenes. I hope to see it climb the charts.

I was just listening to the Heartbreaker (remix), it's so fire. It's been forever since Missy Elliott has had a new album out, and now that she's healthy again, I think it would be amazing if her and Mariah worked together again. They teamed up 15 years ago, and dominated 2005 together. A new record together would be hot. Queen of R&B and hip hop.

Negativity (53,080)
by Mara from United States

Ok so I've read through all the comments on all the websites, twitter, facebook and especially here. Most are praising Mariah for a fantastic opening night. All the review headlines read "She hit all the high notes." The GP see this as she is redeeming herself from the past year. Real fans that have followed Mariah know her Chantuse shows improved the further into them she got and her Christmas shows at the Beacon were pristine. I was there to hear for myself. Now I am a fan that agrees everyone has a right to their own opinion, but people come on. This is Vegas and as Mimi L stated before, everything should be on point in Vegas and therefore lipping is necessary, especially due to the frequency of shows and especially an artist of Mariah's calibur and catalog. It's not like she sings Katy Perry type songs and just stands there. M's catalog is beyond acrobatic and add in there 25 years later and it's silly to think there will not be lipping. Mariah Carey is a vocalist yes, but she is also Mariah Carey The Entertainer. And I for one am just happy to watch that live in front of my eyes. I am totally ok with backing tracks if I can see that living talent in the flesh. I don't know, am I alone here. I am never a negative lamb, but maybe some lambs are just never happy or satisfied? Can't we be happy she didn't just decide to walk away, raise her children and live on an island somewhere never to be heard of again? She certainly is more than capable to do that if she pleases.

I've always have this feeling that in this board, although with all of your sensoring, we were able to express our ideas and sometimes being insulted by certain members, you know, the real fans as they proclaim themselves but it was really sad to read you insult in a harsh way a our friend from Spain who rarely agrees (hope you're not censoring my Spanish phrase) someone who has the right to write his mind off to not penalty of being bad-mouthed from not other than (and in this case than is right not in yours that'd had been then) the webmaster himself. I just hope this board does not becomes what MariahDaily did when taken by Mariah's staff. On another topic I won't say anything about her vocals in Vegas until hq feeds are available and will actually applaud her for how she's handling interviews. She still needs to step back a bit to those days when she was clever, mature and presice but so far so good. She's kinda letting the boring diva behind and that's something even thouth the bitchy I am, I really have to recognize. I don't wanna end up being negative so I won't talk about three or four of the things she wore. Perhaps she just needs a full-body mirror and that's it. So please Eric imo you'd apologize to oops is Javier his name? Or at least re-think, read-twice before addressing members of your board, because members are the ones that make your site succeed.

With all the negative comments and certain people on her lately, I can't believe I'm saying this but I rather read the TMZ or Wendy Willams comment sections, they seem to be more positive about Mariah than some people on this board. You might not like everything, like I hate that pink dress but don't beat the woman up when she is trying to please everyone. I'm so grateful to be able to hear LTT song by her even if it's only 98% live. Mariah has sacraficed her most precious gift for us. her voice. It's still good but imagine if she would have left the game when she was on top, she still will have her 96, 97 voice, but she toild away and song for us her fans. At the end of the day we will still have her cds and videos, but she will have her voice and what's left of its past glory, so be thankful she is willing to still try to shine for each one of us. All that gliters is truly gold.
