Infinity music video (52,465)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Oh my. She premiered the video in Vegas, I can't copy the clip but if you all go to The Voice Is Mariah Carey page on facebook, there is a small clip there. (Tuesday 28 April 2015; 12:17)

The single has gone from 21 to 29. I think they should release the video soon followed by some good remixes and appearance. By the way there is a rumor she will be performing at the Billboard Awards. It's also included in the wiki page for the 2015 BBMA. Although wiki can't be trusted but I have seen it in many places. (Tuesday 28 April 2015; 12:11)
Friendly reminder / Stacey (52,463)
by Licia from USA
Some of these posts really reminded me of why I kind of stepped back from Mariah sites and forums. I miss the days where you could have opposing opinions and you were still able to discuss it as adults without all this you're a hater or you're a bad fan. I feel like I'm back in the third grade and someone is going to start calling people poopy heads next. We have to do better. Lol Stacey I get what you are saying. (Tuesday 28 April 2015; 11:33)
Infinity (52,462)
by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Cons: 1) A third of the lyrics are delivered in such a rapid-fire manner that, although works for the song and sounds good, makes it a bit of a challenge to figure out what she's singing. 2) Her voice sounds the driest it's ever been. I mean it still sounds outstanding, but just more labored than usual. Straining is especially obvious during the chorus. Must've been either a bad vocal day during recording or that she wanted to keep the vocals imperfect and gritty to convey emotion. I'm hoping for the latter. 3) The stitching of different takes of her vocals has never been more obvious. The overall production is great, it's just the vocal production that sounds a bit patchy. 4) Some may deem the lyrics "too young" for her. 5) It sounds quite difficult to perform live especially during the belted chorus. Pros: 1) While not exactly the most radio friendly, at least she didn't have to resort to top 40-caliber songs that are so easily digestible (looking at you, Katy) even she's aware that is kinda what her career needs right now. She didn't have to compromise her artistry for an easy hit. 2) The song has hooks that are more memorable than half of the material from MIAMTEC. 3) The throwback thing still works wonderfully for her, classier than any other artist. 4) It's quite melodic and keeps the listener's interest thanks to Mariah's varied delivery. 5) It's like a very neatly wrapped/packaged gift, it ends the same elegant way it started. Wrapped up, ribbon with a bow on it. (Tuesday 28 April 2015; 11:27)

Being positive (52,460)
by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
I think it's interesting, the generalizations that can get made about people who come here to discuss Mariah. There seems to be a constant push and pull positive vs negative. I tend to be a very positive person but it doesn't mean I have adored every single Mariah track full on. Nor does it mean that I think MC is perfect or that I endorse every choice she's ever made. She's a human being. I see no value in picking anyone apart for their choices. Especially, when I have zero control over someone else's free will. There's a poster on here gets blasted a lot, but I quite enjoyed their take on Infinity even though it was very different then mine. Yes, I love the song, and I was surprised with how mixed the reactions were today. Infinity is probably not my favorite Mariah song ever, but I do think it is lovely. I admit, sometimes my optimistic nature just wants to see everyone happy and enjoying themselves. Lol. I am positive, but I can also think for myself and be objective as well. One of the things about being online is that there is so much public anticipation for things before they arrive. It's so different from the days where we couldn't hear anything or discuss it before you bought it on release day at the store. I do think discussing and dissecting everything can be detrimental. I mean is measuring everything really all that important? At the end of the day, imusic is meant to be enjoyed for the fun of it all. (Tuesday 28 April 2015; 10:24)

I just checked her position on the US iTunes chart and she has fallen from #21 to #29. Lambs, should we be concerned? (Tuesday 28 April 2015; 9:38)
Infinity press reviews (52,458)
by Ethan from United States
The single has been getting a lot of rave reviews of 90s throwback from Vanity Fair, MTV, EW, USA Today, etc. It's been steady on the iTunes chart but declining a bit. Hopefully, the AC/Pop radio additions, music video, and other streaming devices will help it remained in the top 30, 20, or 10. Mariah and her team should release the video soon to keep the momentum. (Tuesday 28 April 2015; 7:43)
Infinity is not radio-friendly (52,457)
by Tommy Phan from United states
I was really hoping that "Infinity" would be a great catchy pop r&b song that had a great hook and catchy melody. And it ended up to be actually the complete opposite of that. I have no idea what happened here. Why LA Reid and Mariah's team would want to release a song like this is shocking. Sorry to say but as much as I love Mariah and want to support her new single, it's hard since it just doesn't sound good. I listened to this song over and over at work today, hoping the streams played online would help boost the song. But somehow I just don't like the song and can't vibe to it. It doesn't sound anything fresh or hot. It sounds more like a filler for her past r&b albums, not a single. I was hoping for radio-friendly songs like Taylor Swift's "Blank space" or Ellie Goulding's "Love me like you do" where the regular public can relate to it. This song is more for her fans who listen to her albums, not the general public. Not trying to sound harsh but it sounds like an unfinished demo tape. Her vocals are all over the place, the "infinity" hook is too stretched out and sounds like she's screeching, and and the melody is weak and not catchy. I bought the single just to support Mariah, but this release will not help her comeback like it should. On iTunes, it has dropped from #21 to #28. I really hope her team will realize Mariah needs something hot hot hot to get her back onto the radio again. (Tuesday 28 April 2015; 7:29)
Infinity - second review (52,456)
by Jono from USA
So I will say, my disappointment has faded and the song has definitely grown on me. No it's not my favorite of hers, but that doesn't mean it's bad because we're talking about a legendary discography. I unfortunately didn't get to watch the live stream because I was at work, but I did get to catch a clip where Mariah said she wrote Infinity as an encore for the show, because she said starting with Vision Of Love and ending on Touch My Body just wouldn't feel right. And I completely agree. For her objective, she completely nailed it, and made me appreciate the song even more. It is totally a show closing number, and works amazingly in that context. I'm sure if Mariah was aiming for a massive radio hit, she would have done something different. Like some posters have said, when Mariah does her next record, she will definitely do material that will be a bit more mainstream. But for now, she is truly about connecting with her fans and creating music that celebrates our relationship with her. Records can be broken, but legacies are infinite. (Tuesday 28 April 2015; 7:20)
Infinity / Andrew and Dennis (52,454)
by Music Lover from Canada
Firstly, I cannot get into the song. I think it's the chorus (specially the repetition of infinity) and lyrics. I understand what Andrew is saying. Songs don't go to number one by appealing to only one or two demographics. Music is universal and a song turns into a hit when nearly any and everybody can enjoy it on the radio and sing along to it. That's why it's called pop music. Pop as in popular, it's catchy and will be stuck in your head regardless of your gender, sexual orientation, age, ethnicity, etc. Dennis, do you think OSD or WBT remained at #1 for months due to the support of one or two specific types of people? Sex sells and perhaps Beyoncé and J.Lo's songs are aimed more toward a female audience, but Rihanna, along with Adele, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Céline Dion, and many others have straight male fans. Claiming that they can't enjoy music sung by a female voice is absurd and stereotypical. It's like saying that all gay men exclusively listen to female singers, when some don't even care for any of them. Throughout her career, Mariah's diverse catalogue has allowed her to touch multiple demographics across the world, which makes it difficult for her to please everyone every time she releases a new song. My take on the new single (first lesson) (52,453)
by Anthony Basco from Cardiff, Wales
This song is magnificent. I absolutely love it. It is so full of empowerment, full of strength, full of hope, you can hear that there is a bittersweet sadness there, however, the song promises you can and will overcome this. Whatever trial you are going through in your life, I know it is a love song, but for me personally, it is a song that I will listen to whenever I feel broken, because it speaks to my heart and breathes one word, triumph. This song could not have come at a better time for me. Thank you Mariah. Still ruling my heart after all these years. (Tuesday 28 April 2015; 5:28)
iTune charts? (52,452)
by Matty from Vancouver Canada
I love the whimsical fairytale vibe of "Infinity". It's so catchy, the lyrics are hilarious, and the song really sparkles. How's it doing on iTune charts around the world? What has it peaked at in the USA? In Canada it's peaked at 49 so far. (Tuesday 28 April 2015; 5:15)
Through The Rain remix (52,451)
by Rene from US
I am real surprised about Infinity. I liked it more than I expected. I have listened to it non stop. I was at work and I would listen to it on my breaks and lunch. All day, I kept thinking "Infinity" sounds like another of her songs, much more than YME, WBT. It does have the "Music Box" sound literally. Then it hit me though, it sounds like the "Through the Rain" remix featuring Kelly Price and Joe. It's the harmonizing of the vocals and the distinctive bass. How she speeds up on different parts. That's just me though. (Tuesday 28 April 2015; 5:11)

My message didn't require for you to tell me to shut up. I have always been polite and respectful of others on this messageboard and I may not post as much as some of you but I'm still entitled to having an opinion as long as it is expressed in a polite way. Next time, don't bother replying with that kind of comment, I am not here for this. On another note, I like the song, I am not in love with it but it definitely is a grower. And as a lamb for the past 17 years, I'll support Mariah as long as she continues to release music that's close to her heart. Fingers crossed that the general public will like it, I really want to see Mimi back on top where she should be. (Tuesday 28 April 2015; 4:38)
I don't even know what to say (52,449)
by 123 from USA
Licia, you're comment is spot on and you are one of the few that have the guts to be honest while remaining articulate. Abraham, I have a new found respect for you. I know everyone categorizes you as a positive lamb, but you are honest enough to give your opinion that the song isn't that great because you feel same among other fans that care about Mariah and her music. Shelly, I love you but you can't say people are not fans if they don't buy the song because they don't like it. You become just like the yes people that she has had around her. Stacey, you are one of my favorites but you and I know that Mariah was working her butt off to make ISB go number 1. She was everywhere promoting, multiple remixes and remix videos, which we know the remixes helped her songs in the later 90s songs go #1. Ardis, so someone is a hater because they don't love everything she releases? What does that make Andrew then because he gets like 1000 likes for his visceral comments? B, those vocals sound very processed. Compare them to Cry, they are overly processed. Better than anything on MOAIA? Not better than BGK, It's A Wrap, or Angels Cry. Definitely not better than Love Story, which I though was ok. Darryle, you are the one making yourself look like an ass, we are comparing a new song from a year ago, not 1993. (Tuesday 28 April 2015; 4:38)
Arrival / live stream (52,448)
by Darryle from USA
This live stream is incredibly frustrating. It keeps going out and the camera man has shaky hands. Mariah was 40 minutes late to her own Vegas arrival. When she did arrive she was just got out her car and took some pictures. So far this arrival is not worth the hype. I was expecting it to be much more glamorous and over the top. (Tuesday 28 April 2015; 3:59)
Overproduced? (52,447)
by juan from Dubai
Come on people. This is how Mariah shows off her genius musicality. Layers of her voice, selection of changing beats and instrumentation, clever sassy lyrics and so many good elements. You don't expect her to sound like early 90's because those were the times she was under the control of Motolla. Though Tommy/Columbia's direction is successful in reaching commercial success, it was not Mariah's wish. She always wanted to produce r&b/hiphop music not just sweet melodies and belting notes. Infinity is genius. No one sounds like her music right now. (Tuesday 28 April 2015; 3:38)

I wasn't trying to generalize everyone wanted a #1 song. I like many of her songs better than those that did hit #1. Anyways, there is something missing from Infinity for me too. However, before the song came out, I wasn't expecting a powerhouse hit. I don't think that was the purpose of Infinity or I Stiill Believe for that matter. And it's why I didn't feel this let down upon hearing the song. I bought up ISB because both songs were used as a way to promote the new compilation album. Mariah is going to save her powerhouse hit songs for a full commercial album release. Once Mariah got in a place of personal momentum forward, we were blessed with a amazing album (Rainbow after #1s, TEOM after CB, and ??? after #1 To Infinity). I wasn't trying to generalize every fan was expecting a #1 hit. That wasn't why I wanted to respond. I wanted to maybe bridge the gap of expectations so to speak and maybe remind folks MC is always going to save her best stuff for a full album release. Plus, this song was more about her moving on from Nick. I'll take it an enjoy it as much as I can. And if not, I have so many other MC songs, remixes, galore to listen to, lol. Infinity and it's potential (52,443)
by D.D. from USA
I personally love love love this song. I think it's unexpected of Mariah and it has great potential. I can't wait for the video to come out and if there are remixes released I'll be the first in line to buy those as well. You guys just don't know how big this song could be with the right promotion and it's great lyrics and vocals, perfect for a club remix by some hot DJs. Day one and I can't wait to see what else she's gonna release for this single and era. And even though I stopped buying CDs because I prefer digital downloads now, I did order my copy of the new #1s and can't wait to get it. Wether you like Infinity or hate it, it is what it is, as someone said earlier if you don't like it, close the door and loose the key. Bye bye. Enjoy. (Tuesday 28 April 2015; 2:09)
I've been trolling YouTube (52,442)
by Lee TS from USA
And like this board it's filled with a lot of different feelings. But here's my message on the video: I love the song and it's not just because I'm a lamb. But I actually get what she's trying to do here. This song is a break up anthem but instead of wallowing in Bobby Womack songs hoping for him to come back around, she's saying she will be ok on her own. A lot of people are going in on the lyrics like the Fritos line. If you really knew M you know she's poking fun at herself and making light of the situation with her humor - and she's fulfilling her MC rapper fantasy by rapping the verse. It's slick. But what draws me is the chorus and she's sangin' on it, and I get why she's singing the word "infinity" in that key, it's like soaring and leaving it all behind. Now no shade to Ariana but she might actually appreciate this song at this point in her life. Infinity for all. (Tuesday 28 April 2015; 1:47)
Infinity (52,441)
by LC from USA
I think it's really interesting and surprising to see the overwhelmingly negative reviews of the song on here. So far, blogs, major news publications, and the general public (non lambs) have been raving about its "nostalgic", "throwback" sound and Mariah's "signature vocals". They're even calling it a return to form for Mariah. It's top 25 on iTunes, with no promotion, #1 on Billboard's Real Time Trend Chart, #1 on Twitter's worldwide trends, and #4 on YouTube's trending/popular now videos, which means it's definitely getting buzz from the public. I never thought I'd see the day when the public likes the song more than the lambs. Not saying it's a bad thing. I mean, personally, it took a few listens for me to start liking the song because I was thrown off by the overwhelming production and Mariah's enunciation, but I never thought it was a bad song. I really don't see where some of you are hearing "terrible" vocals or "horrid" lyrics, though. That is a mystery to me. I think that it will definitely be a song that grows on me and I can see it being a hit. I hope that we can all still support the song, though. Don't we all want to see Mariah on top again? (Tuesday 28 April 2015; 1:26)
Infinity video (52,440)
by Giselle #1 Mariah Critic from USA
I think she and her team have got to come out great with a fun concept for a video. I'm not even going to lie lol, I wish, Mariah would have had snuck one of MIAMTEC tracks on #1's lol. I remember her and Nas hadn't yet finished "Dedicated" and she hadn't finished "Meterorite" either she should, have held out on those and snuck them as "new" on here lol no shade. I like Infinity, each time I play it I get to love it each more. But I don't know, I just feel like why can't she focus on her building her acting career? I think the problem is we all love the song, we just don't love it for Mariah Carey. (Tuesday 28 April 2015; 0:59)
