Hypocrisy of "Lambs" (52,690) by Ethan from United States
"I came to have a party, open up the Bacardi, feeling so hot tamale. Them chickens is ash and I'm lotion." "Just like the Calgon commercial." "Then I'd best not catch this flick, on YouTube (YouTube), 'cause if you run your mouth and brag about this secret rendezvous, I will hunt you down, 'cause they be all up in my business like a Wendy interview." "Speed dial connecting me to Rae-Rae (hey), click in Shawntae and Mae-Mae (hey). Fellas be grabbin' at us like yo, tryin' to get us going off the Patron, we sippin' Grigio... slow." "I'm like the lottery, hot Bentley with the keys. Take me for a ride." "But you in LA, and I'm out at Jermaine's. I'm up in the A, you're so so lame, It must be the weed, it must be the E, heard you get it poppin', you get it poppin'. Got you all fired up, with your Napoleon complex. Seein' right through you like you're bathin' in Windex." So what's the deal with Infinity?

Infinity (52,689) by B from USA
I have been searching for reviews for Infinity and I haven't read one that's been negative. The only negative remark was that her vocals sounded strained on the chorus but the reviewer was still positive about the song and the lyrics.

Can we stop name calling? (52,685) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
People that aren't feeling infinity shouldn't have to get labelled absolute Mariah haters, and those that do love the song shouldn't get labelled "delusional" for not being objective or truthful that the song is a "joke", and therefore anyone who actually likes it is also labelled "foolish". I admit that I was surprised by the split reactions intentionally, but I really truly hope that nothing I have ever said on this board has come across as an attack on someone else here. Have a beautiful day, all.

That woman child (52,684) by Dove from USA
I love Infinity but I can be objective and see why others wouldn't. People who say it sounds "girly" and "Disney" are right. It does. But that's how I am too. Maybe that's part of the reason why I like it. When I hear Infinity, it makes me think of the movie Enchanted. That's also how I see my life. I am 32 but I feel younger. People always say that about me when they meet me, too. They think I'm 22 and right out of college. I think it has to do with my child-like aura. I'm not saying it's a good thing but it is what it is. I feel like I didn't have a childhood, so when I was old enough to choose my own path I chose Disney. I still watch cartoons, I don't watch scary movies because they scare me, I like to draw and paint, I collect Barbie's, I wear bright pink a lot, I love glittery things, pretty shoes, I cover my eyes and mute it during the sex scenes in OITNB because I'm sensitive to the graphics but I like the storyline, on Christmas I wear the most over-the-top sparkly gowns to visit the kids at the hospital as a magical princess. (I don't wear make up every day so they don't even know it's me.) I also love to dress up on Holidays and I've even been Santa when no one else wanted to. When she does those festive things people call corny, I relate to it. It doesn't mean that I'm not an adult or that I'm dumb. I have several degrees. I know that a person doesn't necessarily need to be a genius to get a degree but you have to be "smart enough" and competent. I've always worked with kids, first as a babysitter, then at CPS, and now at the hospital. Maybe that has something to do with my child-like aura too. My point is, I think that, like me and many others, Mariah sees her life as a Disney movie. When you find humor and magic in painful situations, it makes life bearable.

Ardis (52,683) by Abraham from USA
Whether or not she was aiming for a hit is besides the point. "Infinity" is weak and a joke compared to all her hits. She could have put a better song on the album. I just can't believe she recorded and listened to it and said "This is good." You think older people would listen to it?

Am I racist? No (52,682) by Jared from USA
Orkun, Lamb_o_Chop, Licia, and everyone who's condemning me for what I said to Matini, allow me to try to dig myself out of this hole. First off, I have a lot of respect and admiration for many African American people and I count a few as my friends, not just acquaintances. For one, I worship Mariah Carey, a woman who is not only open about her racial background, but celebrates her black identity in her work, most of which I adore including many of her hip hop collabos. Yes, slang terms are used all over the world, but let's admit that Mariah leans heavily towards colloquialisms that are from the black community. I was wrong to specifically state that I found the "AA colloquialisms" in "Infinity" to be grating. I suppose that if it were any kind of slang that makes Mariah sound immature (for a 45 year old) and uneducated, I would find it grating anyway. So sorry Matini for phrasing it that way. Having given it more thought, I guess my true problem with "Infinity" is that I feel like Mariah's songwriting is regressing towards heavy use of slang and poor song structure instead of progressing towards a mature and respectable place. To me, she sounds desperate to connect with a younger audience, and desperate to maintain her "street cred" as the queen of thug love duets that she pioneered. So I want to offer my apologies to anyone who may have been offended, but I truly meant no offense and I did not mean to insult the black community. To the fans who love "Infinity", good for you.

Nate from Boyz II Men / the voice (52,681) by Randy from USA
Nate is totally wrong for his comments in public. My problem is that the voice was a problem long before the Rockefeller performance. That was just when the masses found out. I'm a school teacher in GA and when I ask choir students what they think of MC: "She's great, she just can't sing anymore." I want her to address/fix it. Sing songs in current range without those studio created high full voice belts she can't do live. And what's the end game? I was let down when I heard Infinity, not because of the lyric or production like some of you but because she has no chance in hell of singing that live without smoke and mirrors. And for those stuck in the sand with the "bad vocal day", "sick", "earpiece" excuses, I challenge you to do this: watch her sing 1995 "Vision of Love" at Madison Square Garden and then watch her sing "Vision of Love" 1998 at "The View". That's not a bad day. They don't even sound like the same woman.

Candy Bling (52,680) by B from USA
Candy Bling is one of the few song off of MOAIA that I like. I also like Obsessed and Languishing. I don't understand why some fans aren't liking Infinity. The chorus is classic 90's Mariah Pop and the verses are 00's Mariah. In my opinion it's a great song and it has the potential to be a hit. It's already received more press and promo than #Beautiful did. It hasn't even been serviced to radio and radio is already playing it. I saw a clip of the video which was played in Vegas and she looks stunning. She's at a vanity wearing a red robe applying perfume and she looks as good as she did during TEOM era. When this video is released you'll all be changing your tunes. Praising the song, Mariah, and the video. I don't know what you people want from Mariah, she delivered a strong single that incorporates all of her trademarks in a modern way and you're disappointed?

Abraham (52,679) by Lamb_O_Chop from Australia
I feel the same about the people who don't like song. Everything people claim to not like is exactly what I enjoy about the song. The lyrics are fun people, lighten up. You all act like she didn't just give you all Camouflage, Cry, Mine (Eternal) and Faded. Yes at 45 she's allow to be playful and light hearted. She can pull it off in my opinion and she always keep a good balance. I love the switching of the paces, it like a musical roller coaster ride. We know her voice isn't at its peak now, but it still shines on this track and she has great vocal moments in the song. C'mon now how could you not get your life from the way she sings "close the door lose the key". Singalong with me Abraham.

Are you kidding? It's one of my favs. The melody, the voice, the lyrics. Just perfect. I play that song all over again and again. "I'm the same Mimi, fame ain't changed me." (That part makes me crazy.)

Re: Abraham (52,676) by Ardis Logic from Earth
Just a thought. Maybe Mariah was not aiming for a #1 hit song. She wrote what she felt needed to be expressed at this moment in her life. Just like when she released the #1's album the first time around and "I Still Believe" was released. It was not a #1 hit but it was a nice bonus. There will be whole new albums in the future and I'm am sure when that time comes MC will be writing and aiming for a #1 hit. Until then it's a good idea to just chill out and take each moment as it comes. Much love.

"What's not to love about this song"? Are you joking? Everything about it is bad. From the music to the lyrics. Along with Mariah's voice. The whole thing is a mess. I honestly believe that some fans are just saying they like it because they're loyal and love Mimi so much, when really they hate it and are embarrassed. Mariah is 45 years old. She should be writing like one. Everything George posted is the truth. Mariah isn't in a good place musically. "Beautiful" has been her best single so far. It was fresh and decent. And very appropriate age wise. Also her voice sounds great. But "Infinity" is a whole another story. Mariah should get out of la la land and come back to the real world. Write some better and mature lyrics. If she wants a hit, it can't be anything like "Infinity".

Who else loves this song? Listening to MOAIA today had "Candy Bling" on repeat. Absolutely love this song. It just sounds amazing to me.

Boyz II Men (52,670) by Bill from the UK
What David said. The thing is, it was an incredibly low move, Mariah was getting it from all angles after the Rockefeller isolated microphone leak, including many posters on here, and Nate waded in and publicly and condescendingly more or less said she was in need of help. Any real friend, who had those sort of concerns, would address them privately with the individual, not air them for all to see on his damn Facebook. Even if they had lost touch over the years, a call to her management company asking for her to contact him was all it would have taken. It was an awful and insulting move on his part, and if Mariah is willing to forgive him and remain friends after that, then she is a better person than me.

David from Australia (52,669) by Will from England
During one of the post extravaganza interviews, Mariah was asked about potential special guests. Boyz II Men came up and she murmured something like "I don't know if we're friends."

Stuck (52,668) by CHAZ from USA
Hi fellow lambs. Obviously, Mariah is stuck in a rut. "Infinity" sounds exactly like a combination of her previous songs. Not uberly excited after the first listen. She does not think outside of the box and does not consider today's current trends (stuck in the 90's). I will continue to support her, but will no longer promote her. Sorry about it.

Mirror man (52,666) by George Golden from UK
I wish Mariah's news single was Ella Hendersons "Mirror Man". Something more classic and mature than "Infinity". I dont understand where she is at musically. She is really letting her fans down. Great songs like "Meteorite will be left as album cuts and then she releases "Infinity" as a single? I'm tired of defending her when she is bent on ruining her legacy. I give up.

Boyz II Men (52,665) by Licia from USA
That whole issue with Nate really threw me off. Although I agreed with some of what he said, I didn't like him taking it to Facebook. I thought he was cool with Mariah so I don't understand why he needed to post it on Facebook and not go directly to her. If you are my friend and you feel the need to hit me with some truth, I'd rather you come to me instead of trying to embarrass me publicly. Futhermore does he really think that people believe they perform night after night live all the time during their residency? Even the greatest singers need to give their voices a break. This is actually the only situation where I expect lip syncing every now and then.

Jared (52,664) by Lamb_O_Chop from Australia
Honey you're digging yourself into a deeper hole with the race comments. Just apologize and drop it, don't try to explain or justify what you said. African Americans aren't the only culture of people that use slang by the way. So if Mariah said "it's the scoop though" (which is a phrase coined by white people) instead of "it's tea though", would that have been more acceptable to you? Would you have spoken about it in the same derogatory context? It's a slippery slope my friend, be mindful of the thoughts you project on to others.

Andrew (52,663) by Orkun from The Netherlands
Don't leave. I'd read your message half way through and gave you a thumbs up. Continued reading and saw you wrote "give me a thumbs up if you want me to leave". My bad. It's so true what you wrote about the music. I have the same issue with the music she puts out. Mariah is way better than this. Do not leave. I need to be reminded sometimes that Mariah fans have a good ear. You are one of them. At the end of the day, of course the choice is yours. Just know that I "get" the things you say agree with most. I think of you as an artist too actually.

Infinity (52,662) by Lamb_O_Chop from Australia
I don't care what none of you all say, I love Infinity from the opening "oooh ahhh"s, to the flowing rap singing at the beginning, with that killer hook, all the way to that sweet note at the end. Really what's there not to like about this song? Its empowering, hilarious, cool, she giving vocals, it's a stone groove. I love the way she been handling her current interviews as well, she finally owning her legacy and no apologizing for being imperfect. I love it. She been getting those reporters together Whitney Houston style honey *snap snap*, but still with style and grace. Oh and I'm gonna need Brett Ratner, Lee Daniels, Nick Cannon or somebody to finish the Infinity video pronto.

Re: Boyz II Men question (52,660) by David from Australia
Basically, Nate wrote a long rant on Facebook about Mariah's bad "habits" because she messed up a few performances. I guess Mariah can't afford a phone, so he felt the only way to make his opinion known was by posting it publicly for the world to see. "So many I considered closest to me, turned on a dime and sold me out dutifully." You'd think he'd be aware that as with any other artist (including himself), there are going to be bad days. Also, he somehow neglected to mention all the other amazing performances she did that year. Go figure.
