Re: Daydream (50,691) by Abraham (50,768) by Dove from USA
IMO the magic from the Daydream album has never been recaptured. Each time a new album of hers comes out, even if I think it's very good, it can only be as good as Butterfly for me because Daydream was perfect IMO. (Music Box and Butterfly are tied for second.) I always hoped there would be another album someday as good or better than Daydream. Maybe with an up tempo, pop/rock, acoustic sound and MC's lyrics, melodies, and voice singing songs with more evolved themes giving us a mature insight into her life and experience.

Covers album (50,767) by Dove from USA
It would be super awesome if MC did a cover album of really great songs from different genres. (Happiness is a warm gun?) Maybe she wouldn't love the songs but how long could it take to just go in and record them? Then she can save her energy to write for the type of album she truly likes, loves, and connects with. She's already rich, she doesn't need the publishing royalties for every single song. Right? (Sidenote: my suggestions for covers is in post 49,866.)

I'm just curious, when will you be satisfied with anything Mariah does? I'm only saying. Last year, she released an album. She toured Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. She came to the US to do 6 Christmas concerts. Now, she will be performing at Las Vegas. There is an interview where she says she has been singing those whistle notes since she was like in 5th grade. That was 35 years ago. I would recommend you to look up what happens with vocal nodules. On YouTube, there are good videos that show their effects on the voice. For us to think she can sing the same as in the nineties is just wishful thinking. She has vocal damage and sings through those nodules.

Nick Cannon (50,764) by jaker20 from US
I said it when they got (secretly) married, I said it when they had babies, I said it when MC's career was flopping and I'll say it again now. Nick Cannon is a user and he was in it from the very start. And you all attacked me back then in 2008 and have been called a hater all throughout their marriage, which I always thought was a sham he got MC to buy. There's no love there, just fools who believe he loved her. This man is a social climbing loser. No one knew who he was, and MC was instrumental in getting him ATG and a career at all. Without her, he'd still be a nobody. I guess now you should all give me an award, I can smell a social climbing user from a mile away.

Vegas promotion and PR (50,763) by Emmanuel from Canada
Alright so there is a couple more weeks before she hits the stage. When will she begin to promote it? She needs to be on Jimmy Fallon, Letterman, Ryan Seacrest, The View, Good Morning Amerca. It's time to hustle. Convince the general public why you still are the greatest who ever did it.

TheVoice (50,761) by Luis from Spain
Have I just read that MIAM sold well? Sorry, but that's not true. It was a flop everywhere. Both Mariah and Def Jam let it die because they predicted it would flop so badly. Good album, though. Anything else is fiction.

Hi lambily (50,760) by Hana from
Huge Mariah fan here. I've recorded a short cover of "Love Takes Time", I hope the lambily like it enough for me to record a longer video version. Cheers, do check it out.

Divorce (50,758) by Lee TS from USA
Oh dear it's getting ugly. But how does one sell a house without the other one knowing? Doesn't Nick have to sign off on some papers or something unless Mariah bought the home herself. Now this makes Nick look bad because it's clearly about the money, what a jerk. I hope Mariah has an iron clad prenup and protects herself.

Nick suing Mariah?! (50,757) by B from USA
What the hell? Is he serious. Like he hasn't enjoyed the perks of being Mr. Mariah Carey. Didn't she sign her NBC deal shortly before or right after Nick was chosen as the new host of AGT? She also performed on AGT and let him use her name for publicity. Before his relationship with MC he was a d-list celeb who was fading fast. Hopefully WildNOut and that BET "reality" show is canceled. I haven't liked him since he told the world he hit it first when asked about Kim K, told the media they had been living apart for months, and released that song about having blank checks from Mariah.

No more Cinderellas / my apologies to Baby (50,756) by nikki from usa
Just talking the facts here. Nick isn't suing Mariah, he's suing the biz manager for not keeping him in the loop. It's impossible to sell a home without his signature unless he wasn't involved in the original purchase. That means MC bought the house and Nick was along for the ride. He has no entitlement of being in the loop. By California law he's entitled to half the profits, but he filed for divorce in NY. That will be interesting. But, none the less, he can't talk profits until the divorce is finalized and they're still in the midst of that. Since Nick was going on about how they were going to spend the holidays together, then filed for divorce while MC was in the middle of Christmas concerts, and they didn't spend the holidays together; it looks like he was the one who blind-sighted her. Nick achieved most of his success after marriage and used his association with MC frequently. He made a huge stink about not spending his wife's money, but clearly he wasn't entirely paying his own way either. He didn't have the money for his Ncredible start up in 2010 which means he got that from Mariah. Now, he's whining to the media about not being kept in the loop on a sale he wasn't apart of? Baby, in the past I said you were too hard on Nick, but you're right. He does appear to be 2-faced and thirsty. MC, stop dating guys who use you to build empires for themselves. Next time, aim for someone already accomplished and not in entertainment.

"A Mariah fan [...] does not throw clouds around on a website which is a forum to enjoy, promote and uplift." Lol, when have you ever enjoyed, promoted, or uplifted Mariah? All I've ever seen you do is insult her, bad mouth her, call on her to resign, say her voice is finished, ridicule her positive fans and snap at anybody who says anything contrary to what you post. Since you appeared here, all you've done is bring the mood of the place down.

Ms. Carey (50,753) by B from USA
Mariah's voice is still The Voice. Even in it's current rumored state of disrepair her voice is still untouchable. Ariana Grande on her best day doesn't even come close to Mariah's current voice. Let alone her voice at the prime or peak of her career. This board has become the we can't stand the choices Mariah Carey is making board and sorry but your constructive criticisms are thinly veiled disses. I'm going to continue to support Mariah. I'm going to Las Vegas, I'm buying the reissue of #1's, and the single or singles she releases to promote it. I'm a lamb for life and she's earned my admiration and respect. She delivered an amazing album that sold well considering the current state of the recording industry and the issues she was dealing with personally. She is still relevant. She just scored a hit with #Beautiful. 2015 is going to be the year of the comeback.

Cannon who? (50,752) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
That was literally what went through my head, even if only a few moments, as I read the last paragraphs of the Bel-Air house sale from a few days ago. The writer of the article omitted Nick from Cannon and I completely forgot who he was. It took me to actually finish reading the article for it to dawn on me. I made "Cannon" into one of the previous celebrity owners, like Farrah Fawcett etc. In my mind, he was some older Hollywood royalty akin to Aaron Spelling. He was Jewish and everything. "Singer-superstar Carey, known for vocal range, has received five Grammy Awards. Among her award-winning work is the album 'The Emancipation Of Mimi' and recognition as best new artist in 1990. Cannon has written for several television shows bearing his name as well as 'Incredible Crew' (2012-13). He has hosted his own shows and 'America's Got Talent' (2009-13). They separated last year and have filed for divorce, according to multiple media reports." It was so weird how I had to actually read the last sentence repeatedly for it to fully register. Yeah, crazy, I know. But to be fair I was on several media platforms and playing music, texting etc. He honestly slipped my mind.

Boy performance (50,751) by enwar00 from usa

I've never seen this or any performance of this song. I enjoyed it, and in hindsight I do like the song better than The One. Crazy how you can lose a lot of natural energy in 10 or so years, or at different points in your life.

Meanwhile back at the ranch (50,750) by Andrew from UK
I think it's far more likely Mariah is in the studio re-recording updated vocals of old songs like Someday, IDWTC, Can't Let Go, etc, to use in Vegas. She can't sing with her voice in it's current state then switch to pre-record of original versions. She did that with Without You and the change in vocals was really apparent and excruciating. It's more likely than her writing new material this close to curtain-up.

Marcel (50,749) by Andrew from UK
Marcel, cheers. I was apologising for not explaining properly. It gives idiots a chance to get their chip off their shoulder and throw it at people. "Lilly white girls", "your forefathers". Racist, pernicious things some idiot wrote and other militants agree with. Lol how hypocritical. A bit like the ever-positive lambs who don't like "negative" people, so get nasty and vicious. Hypocrisy. Like most people I couldn't give a shit about people's self-righteousness militancy about race, the "forefathers" idiocy clearly meaning white people should feel some historical guilt. The only thing I feel is contempt for racist people who wave a banner of righteousness over their heads and throw libelous statements out because they can. Shame on them for shaming their own "forefathers". I just laughed. Quite a lot. And felt pity. I don't know anything about being mixed race or black? I assume because I'm white lol it's not really a toughie: mixed race people have parents of different races. Like Mariah Carey. Peace out.

I Don't Wanna Cry (50,747) by MC1989 from Spain
It's one of my favourites too. Amazing melody, arrangements and vocals. The main reason for me for being excited for the Vegas show is to watch her perform "Someday", "Love Takes Time" and "I don't wanna cry".

Keep on posting Andrew (50,746) by Marcel from Montréal, Canada
I really understand everything you post in here, I guess I'm most of the time agreeing on what you say and the only times I kind of dislike something is when you sort of apologise for expressing your thoughts. What you might to understand is that most of the members seem to be on their teens or early 20's, something weird because a lot of them insist they've been fans since VOL first went to radio. Anyway. I truly understand the meaning of your comment on Mariah not working with Walter just because he's not black. Sometimes it is difficult to expect teens to understand a statement and you know, this world is crazy about the race thing. Obviously it is racism when a white person mentions the black word. Never otherwise. Whatever. Great poster Andrew, I really like you as many of us do. You can notice by how many thumbs-up your posts in here. Salut.

Mariah in Vegas predictions (50,745) by ADAM from USA
I also am beyond excited for Mariah to perform her older catalog. Some of my all-time favorite songs are I Don't Cry, Someday and Love Takes Time. I hope fans take good videos in Vegas because I would love to hear her take on these old songs with her new voice intact. Mariah's voice is no longer what it was, but her ability to sometimes ad-lib and stress different notes in an unusual way (like My All in Australia) makes me love her so much today. I also would like to know how she plans to segue-way each song into one another. Like will she start with VOL or TMB and work backwards? Also I would love for her to debut different fashions from what we're used to see from her. This is such a big opportunity for her and every big name designer would love to outfit her. I hope she chooses wisely. I feel like we'll defintely see some Versace but imagine some Zuhair Murad, Dolce & Gabanna or Oscar de la Renta for some timeless elegance. I can't wait.

Andrew (50,744) by Ty from USA
You know nothing about being mixed or black. What you do know very well is how to be a goat. A Mariah fan respects her choice to sing soul music and does not throw clouds around on a website which is a forum to enjoy, promote and uplift. Race: read history on mixed race culture, one drop rule that was enforced by your forefathers. How quickly we forget. Andrew/Adam, you set the "race" tone and it's wrong and nasty. I'm calling you out on it and personally think you'd perfer Mariah to be classified as white and stand on stage like Celine in a ball gown. Not happening, so move on.

IDWTC (50,743) by Billy from England, UK
I just been listening to I Don't Wanna Cry, I love that song, and hope Mariah will perform it again live soon, especially with the words fitting in with what's going on in her life now, ie split from Nick. What an amazing song.
