Mimi L. Abraham and the long play of: We Love Everybody (51,702)
by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
| |
|
|
I wanna say it's from April 29th 2014. The interviewer is Brazilian. I love how Mariah goes out of her way to not mention the the ones that shall remain nameless and ironically sans any #1's to their names.

"Re-touch-my-body" (51,700)
by Ardis Logic from Earth

This cover looks good, but it's not "real". I am not a fan of Photoshop. Mariah is beautiful and stunning with her natural curves, to edit that into this unrealistic image is not something that I personally agree with. I don't think it sends a good message out there. It's almost like "the message" is "Mariah is too thick in real life to take real photos of her, so we have to edit her body to make it acceptable". That is really sad to me. Just as an example look at some of these albums before Photoshop. Etta James looks totally natural here and beautiful. Aretha Franklin looks stunning in this one. There are many ways to take pictures in a natural way that will compliment the body and make the subjects look stunning.

Does anyone know where can I find the complete performance? She sang at least Fantasy and Sweetheart. On YouTube there's only this snippet. She looks increadible, so gorgeous and beautiful.

If I was an artist and putting out an album, I won't allow an awful picture to dawn it, I'd be photoshopped to dear life. People will judge regardless.

I agree with [...] post andrew, [...] she's not the only female star out there touching up their photos, everyone [...] see on an album cover or in a magazine has been touched up.

Andrew / coverart (51,694)
by MC1989 from Spain
| |
|
|
I agree with Andrew. I like to see that they didn't overphotoshopped her face but they did with her body. Though it is very iconic and simple, I agree with you that it will (sorry, it is) generating bad press. The press from my country when it comes to Mariah sucks. They rarely talk about her music or her proffesional achievements, they focus on gossip (false affair with Brett Ratner, if she's fat, or Jamaica's playback). Only a few websites treat her as a living legend. Look at this article of one of the most important newspapers in Spain, they took the worst picture from one of her last appearences. Have you guys seen Mariah's latest picture in her Twitter? She looks like she has lost a lot of weight, looking very similar to the album cover.

A bit of a difficult one (51,693)
by Andrew from UK
| |
|
|
The new cover-art is really good but how will it be remembered? It's just a shame it is not honest again. Mariah hasn't been that thin and toned since 2008/09. I don't understand the mentality behind doing this. It's not like anyone believes it anymore: the internet has put paid to that and it will inevitably cause backlash and negative press. God forbid the original comes out again. What is the reasoning? To get positive press? Overuse of Photoshop does the opposite. To suggest Mariah is in the same proportions as the original #1's cover shoot is ludicrous. At least they didn't cartoon-erise her face like the last album shoot but it seems there are no lessons learned. Again. Still, as an image it may just become somewhat iconic. I just hope for the right reasons.

I've heard that interview before awhile back. But the video I watched was longer. The interviewer asked her a lot more questions. I think she had a cold or something because her voice sounds funny lol.

Mariah looks great (51,684)

Thanks Shelly beforehand and it is so beautiful to have you back in the forum. Also thanks enwar00 for the shut out on the symbol, I actually didn't notice haha, I think it is so cool, a whole new icon of total completion. I took a look at the website before going to bed and there she was, looking amazing. It's an inspiration of the "old Mariah" so I think the picture is right, I didn't feel dissapointed by it. Also she seems more confident, the dark make up, the black dress, everything is imponent about the image. It's true promos seems faster and go by sooner as well now at days, but also got to admit that industries don't really have to pay that much anymore for promos as mostly it is now done by fans and people who enjoy the product. The whole "run the voice" and "create buzz" before it had to be done with endless spins of a single in the radio or an incredible stunt performed out of nowhere, or creating anticipation though tv music channels. Internet has indeed changed a lot. I haven't bought complete albums in forever, I love the digital era and the fact that I can chose what songs I want to consume, as opposed to having to cash on a whole album and only listen to half of it.

Cover #1 to Infinity (51,683)
by Gilles from Malta
| |

I am not a big fan of the cover, a bit too provocative for me. My favorite cover was E=MC2. However I love the butterfly with the mathematic symbol infinity. Now regarding the album, I will be waiting for 8 hours for having an opinion. Never judge a book by its cover. See you later everyone. I really hope for something new. Crossing my fingers.

Hehe thanks Shelly, I don't think I've been this excited since there was all the buzz around the release of Touch My Body. I'm excited for what else is announced today. I hope we get the track listing when the album is open for pre-orders. And yes, it took a lot for me to change my avi as I was so attached to it, but Mariah and I are entering this new era together. Out with the old lol.

I am glad some one else notices these apart from me haha. Most people think the same font has been used for her name on the album/single covers all these 25 years (except for the obvious change in E=MC2). But I have always noticed that they changed the font when she went to Island and the change started from Charmbracelet and was there until MIAM. Now she is back to the old font used in her Sony days. The fonts look really similar, but are slightly different.

Gloria / Gisselle / RJJ12 (51,680)
by Dove from USA

Thank you Gloria. Gisselle, I meant to respond to your post to me yesterday but I didn't know what to say. Even though my parents are still together, adult children of alcoholics have abandonment issues too. I've read a lot self help books in my life. One I really liked is Women Who Love Too Much by Robin Norwood. My ex husband and I were together from when we were teens until last year, so I never had to deal with being left by a partner myself until recently, but in the book the author talks about what you described. It's really helpful and eye opening. You should read it, I think you'll like it. RJJ12 and Gisselle you guys need to be more specific with examples and who you're referring to because I don't know what you guys are talking about. I haven't seen anyone be crucified on here in a long time. Disagreeing with others and stating one's opinion is not the same as crucifying. If anything I feel like everyone, including myself, has been more tolerant lately. People have stated that if they don't like the types of posts certain members write, they just stop reading their posts altogether instead of going off on them. Maybe that's why it seems like some people get free rein.

Boy bye, the only one always negative here is you. I never directly address you even though this is the second post you directed at me. If you don't like what I write, you're free to scroll on down and ignore like most here do. You're the main person here who is always personally attacking others who don't agree with you. Because you're mentally to immature to know that not everyone is going to agree or share your opinions. So bye Felicia, how are you doing?

I echo your sentiments. I feel we think very alike in many areas of life too. I really like the new cover and the homage to the original album cover. Team Mariah really seems to be bringing it (so far). They've made big improvements to her official website in terms of keeping it current ect (it wasn't that way for a long time). I feel really good about the move to Sony. Already, it feels like Mariah is with a label much more invested. Also, I think the "to infinity" is hilarious. It's so Mariah's humour. She cracks me up.

Love the cover. As I said I hope they remaster the old tracks, put them in chronological order and Infinity as 19th track (It would be so cool if Infinity chart at number one.)
