You've already acknowledged me, twice. One post asking me how did I know Mariah was going to release a hit album. Which she more and likely is. And again today. When I tell someone bye, I don't need an acknowledgment. So again I'll tell you. Bye.

Time is ticking (48,863)
by Edward from USA

Mariah is going to be 45 in a few months. She is in not position to be taking a 5-year break, because as we all know, age plays a big factor in music these days, especially for women. After enjoying her well-deserved holidays, she should focus on getting in shape and working on her voice. For her 25th anniversary, she should release either an EP or an album with the best of her B-sides plus a few of the tracks that were left out of MIAMTEC. I'm one of those who think that she still has a great main stream album under her boobs. After that she could do whatever she wants without feeling any pressure, like a Jazz album, Gospel or even venturing into country, many of us love "Right to Dream" and "Help Me Make It". Before she turns 50, she should release at least 2 more albums, because after that things are going to get a little bit more complicated. Time is ticking.

If that is your opinion, I both respect and disagree with it. Oh, and in order for you to give me a "bye", I would first have to have acknowledged you, and I didn't.

I have watched the Christmas concerts. They were good, the parts that were live. She really went for notes and seemed to have really rehearsed. I was proud of those concerts. A definite move in the right direction. However, a few isolated concerts where there is 90% live singing, while good for her, still isn't A+ game. Perhaps you and I just have different standards for what constitutes A+.

Concert event (48,859)

So on Mariah's Spotify page there is a calender link saying there is a concert event for the May 18th and the UK at the Echho Arena. When I clicked on this it goes to a page called Songkick but says the page no longer exists or has been deleted. Could this mean more tours?

Mariah, Mariah, Mariah (48,858)

#Beautiful has sold 1.2 million copies in the United States which proves Mariah Carey is still relevant and can still score a hit. I hope Mariah decides to work with Bruno Mars, Happy Perez, and other up and coming R&B songwriters and producers on her next album.

I'm not talking about live performances, I'm talking about recording an album. You might want to watch some of Mariah's recent live performances from her Christmas concert at the Beacon theatre.

Angelo (48,855)

Hi Angelo, yes all the concert DVDs are dubbed. Mariah would have sung live at the actual event but then they would have been "tidied up" afterwards with her either re-singing parts or the vocals being fixed up in the studio. But this practice happened across the entire industry and was not unique to Mariah, everybody did it.

Hey lambs, don't know how many of you have been to Mariah's Spotify page lately but you can now listen to the live recordings of her 2010 show at the Pearl in Vegas. She sounds amazing on some of these. I am particularly partial to the rendition of "Subtle Invitation". Definitely add that one to your playlists for the New Year.

The voice (48,853)
by Darryle from USA

|
I take for granted Mariah's voice so often. I never truly realized why people call her "The Voice" until this very day. I was watch the Tokyo Dome performance of Hero and I was just awestruck. Her voice is truly one of a kind. From her 5 octave range to her whisper voice to her full voice it's all amazing. She can so easily transition from full voice to head with the snap of her fingers. Her whistle register at its fullest practically sounds like she's communicating with birds. Her ridiculously underappreciated lower register can shake the ground. She's always given us 100% of her voice. She's eclipsed so many of her studio recordings and she's re-sang 100s of remixes. Then there's the fact that she performs some of the most daunting songs to ever be recorded, live on tour. I know sometimes I bash Mariah for the state of her voice but I'm truly grateful that she shares her incredible gift with me.

How can she slay any naysayer or lessor when she performs the way she does? I mean really? She barely brings her C+ game much less and A+ game. Instead of her and her fans worrying about the lessors and Ariana Grandes, attention needs to be paid to her own house. We can debate on the reasons all day, but until Mariah can sing well live and have a state presence that isn't uncomfortable to watch she will only, as she has been doing the last couple of years, slaying her herself, and not in a good way. I don't understand your logic: Mary ventured out and tried something new for her and has found great critical success. Even if the album flops, she has stretched artistically. She created music that fits her and her aging fan base. You speak as if Mariah is doing so well commercially, she needs whoever can help to save her.

Thank you for being able to discuss another artist on this board - and do it respectfully. It is very much appreciated. Mariah is my favorite female vocalist, Madonna my favorite entertainer and usually fans of both are completely at odds with each other, which I've always found silly. Mariah and Madonna are not compatible, they don't need to be. It is the music and entertainment business, there should be room for everyone without feeling threatened all the time. I like all kinds of music, rather like flavors of ice cream.

More for "The Wind" (48,849)
by Warrior Butterfly from USA

I was floating around some Mariah tumblr's and found this gem. There is a entire section of classic Mariah mag transcripts, one that I really enjoyed is Full Effect issue #9 1991 "Mariah Carey reveals her Emotions", in it Mariah discusses "The Wind" and how WA came across it for Mariah's album Emotions. I googled what WA had discovered and heard this great interpretation.

New album / Madonna (48,848)
by Abraham from USA
| |
|
|
I only meant that Mariah should release an album up to the standard of the "TEOM". Not necessarily release one exactly like it. Although it would be nice to get some more 70's retro/soul type songs again. And as far as Madonna singing all live at her concerts is a lie. I saw some of her concerts from the "MDNA" tour and she lipped almost the entire show. She basically did more choreography than singing. Madonna has never been able to sing live. She's always lipped, and when she has sang live she sounded flat. I still like her though. She's "the queen of pop" and has a great legacy.

Dvd's question (48,847)

Hello. Is it true that every dvdfrom Mariah is edited and full of lipsync? I'm talking about Thanksgiving '93, MSG '95 and (most of all) Mimi Adventures (I checked and at least Fantasy, last parts of DFAU, ABMB and WBT are pure playback ). Thank you for answers.

Nick was D-listed before he married Mariah. He wasn't even considered for AGT before he married Mariah. Unlike Mary, Mariah doesn't need a bunch of Brits to save her. Mariah just needs new producers. Abraham, you're right, Mariah needs to slay these naysayers and lesser talents.

Nick is not Bobby Brown (48,845)
by Alexis Morell Carrington Colby Dexter Rowan from USA

I don't understand why some of you bash Nick so much. What was so egregious that he deserves this hate. Yes, he revealed too much in an interview or 2 but he didn't get her hooked on drugs, beat her, live off of her money, etc. Mariah actually did pretty well when it comes to diva marriages. The man has not one but several jobs and is his own person. He has never been "Mr. Mariah Carey". You have to respect that. Mariah is legendary, iconic, the best ever, but she isn't infallible. If judging her public behavior is any indication, it's not a stretch that she could be very difficult to live with and love privately.

Re: Madonna (48,844)

We can discuss Madonna's merits in another post. However, one thing we cannot deny is that while Madonna cannot sell an album in the US or score a hit here, she can: 1. score a hit overseas 2. have an album debut at #1 in most major markets (regardless of how is does subsequently) 3. she can sell out arena tours and npt have to do her biggest hits at said tour 4. she can still command major events (Superbowl, awards shows) 5. despite being vocally limited, she sings live at her shows PS. I'm not a Madonna fan but I cannot deny her stats.

Nah (48,843)
by Alexis Morell Carrington Colby Dexter Rowan from USA

See it's the chasing of this TEOM phantom album-style success that wastes our time as fans. TEOM was what it was, trying to recapture that is futile. In fact, many would argue that she has been chasing that album every since (E=MC2, Memoirs) only to have diminishing returns. Mariah has said many times that she has varying influences, not doing more r&b soul would not be outside of her comfort zone. How has Mary been a flop, she has a good, very broad international image and is well respected. Put it this way, I hear her on someone's radio station daily, when was the last time we heard Mariah and it wasn't an oldies' station or AIWFCIY?

Other people's music tastes (48,842)

Does anybody else hear other people's music tastes and just can't understand at all why they enjoy it. I always think "sure the production is catchy, but the singing simply isn't good". I always manage to compose myself and praise the musician, but it's a struggle for sure.

Madonna (48,841)
by Abraham from USA

Madonna might be releasing an album next year. And if and when she does, I'll doubt she'll be competition for Mariah if Mariah were to have something out too. I mean kids these days listen to anything. I listened to the six leaked songs and they were terrible. If someone like Madonna who continues to release crap music and still sell, then for for sure Mariah can too. All she needs is a killer album like "TEOM" and I know it'll be a hit. I hope I'm not offending anyone who's a Madonna fan. I like her, I'm just making a point.

Re: Where do broken divas go? (48,840)
by Abraham from USA

Nope, I disagree. Mariah is too legendary for all that. Fans like me want to see her achieve more sucess. Mariah's only problem in my eyes is the diva behavior. Which to me is no big deal. All I would suggest is for her to cover up more. But the woman is going to do what she wants to do. I feel now that her voice has improved, she's not going to take any time off. She may even start recording new songs. Mariah is 44, would you suggest she wait untill she's 50 or 60 to release another album? She's not in her 20's people. Time is ticking, and she's not getting any younger. Even though technically she still is. All she has to do is keep working on her voice, image and take it from there. No one is hot right now. Taylor Swift's album went to number one, but it's already died down. I doubt anyone will be big next year, which is why Mariah should emerge and slay.

I disagree. Mariah doesn't need to change who she is musically. She needs to work on her image. That is where the disconnect is. Mary looks like a desperate has been. Madonna followed Mariah's lead with her latest release. This quote about Madonna's new songs sums up Mariah's latest release the best tracks reflect her essential style rather than the pop hits of today. Mariah has never let me down.
