Empire (50,610) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter I have been thinking for a while and how many of you think Mariah may use her appearance in Empire as a promo for her next single? If she does that it would be brilliant because Empire is continuously breaking all TV show ratings records and that would expose MC to a huge audience, from young ones to more matured ones. She's a true legend, she's bigger than The Beatles , no one goes around singing their songs, and they are 5 people, yet they aren't 5x better. Lol enough of that. Anyway I do believe Mariah has been preparing for 2015 for a while now. I do believe she wants at least 1 more #1. It all makes sense. New music will be her promo for Vegas. We are certainly getting new music soon. She is reconnecting with fans through fan pages so that hopefully this time the numbers add up and voilà, a #1. Lol just a thought folks. I wonder who she's collaborating with. I'm only excluding Jermaine since he's based in Atlanta. So, who do we know on the WC that has Mariah leaving on a jet plane, Michael Bolton? Shout out to Nikki, lamb of chops, for an excellent post. Mariah always gets a disproportionate amount of criticism and I'm glad you took the time to put it in actual numbers. They are feeding negativity to people frustrated with their lives and happy to see someone fail. Almost all of it is a lie and it's pointless to read. Doing the math (50,591) by nikki from usa 348 Elusive Chanteuse Show 87 Christmas concerts 1 tree lighting 15 Jazz festival Those numbers above are the amount of songs Mariah sang for each event. The Elusive Chanteuse Show consisted of 20 concerts sang in 6 weeks. Compare that to the Daydream Tour where Mariah sang 8 concerts in 3 months. MC's current tour had well over twice the concerts in half the time frame. These 4 events were done over 4 months. That's 451 songs sung in 4 months time. The tree lighting performance went viral while her week of Christmas concerts were overlooked. A clip from Japan went viral while the other 19 concerts were ignored. Fantasy from the Jazz Festival went viral while the other 14 weren't seen. That's a grand total of 3 songs that went viral out of 451 songs. That's not even 1%. If we were to count the entire Japan and Jazz concert as "bad" with the tree lighting performance that would be 39 songs out of 451. That's 8%. If you think Mariah's "ruining her legacy" because less than 1% of the time (or 8%) is your version of the "bad outweighing the good" than I think it's time you stop regurgitating what the media feeds you. Just for balance, Las Vegas (50,590) by nikki from usa When Celine first began Vegas, it wasn't to rave reviews or to the numbers she's currently selling. She was slammed hard by critics for her first year. She kept going and as time progressed things got better and better for her. Britney spent over $100,000 making her Vegas announcement. But, what I want to point out is that neither woman sold out their shows within weeks of making their first ever announcement. Even now, their shows are usually sold out for the first few legs once they've began and gradually decline. Las Vegas is a tourism capitol and Caesar's already made a report within the first few weeks that they were impressed with how fast MC's 18 shows were selling. I wouldn't expect them to really pick up in sales until we're nearing the month of showtime. Both Celine and Britney did a special to promote their shows, but they didn't do a whole lot other than that. This is new to Mariah, so I wouldn't be shocked if she had a rough start. I have no interest in what he has to say, even if it is about the twins. How about posting a picture of "dem babies" instead of Nick? Promoting the Vegas residency (50,585) by Jared from USA I've just read online that Madonna will be the musical guest on Ellen for an entire week in support of her new album. It's brilliant, and I feel that it will boost her sales somewhat. I do hope that Mariah's team has a major promotional push planned for Vegas and the #1's re-issue. If she's adding a brand new single to the mix, she should be performing it on TV at every high-rated show. Preferably, she would be doing entirely live performances to avoid backing track mishaps like the GMA circa 2008 performance of TMB ("stop singing my part now baby") and other recent disasters. Several of you have suggested a documentary of her road to the Vegas show and behind-the-scenes looks at the show. If tastefully done, this could really help her win new fans and win back lost lambs. They could also do a week-long rollout of sneak peeks at the show to whet everyone's appetites leading up to May 6. Yes, I want Mariah to work her behind off and rise back to the top where she belongs. However, I also want her to take care of herself and her family. I hope they can find a balance between an aggressive promotional effort and a healthy lifestyle for our beloved MC. (Tuesday 3 March 2015; 1:13)

Re: Whitney Mariah Celine Madonna Janet (50,584) by jaker20 from US Here's how I rank them in terms of personal preference based on their overall talent: 1. MC 2. Madonna 3. Celine 4. Whitney 5. Janet In terms of public image, I think both are being ridiculed by the new generation, MC for her lipping and weight, and Madonna for her age. I think Madonna and MC probably have better appreciation of each other now than they did 20 or 10 years ago because they're going through somewhat similar public scrutiny by a generation that is generally not kind of women over 40. Whitney, Celine and MC are very similar vocal divas. But MC one-upped them both for being a hugely successful songwriter. I think Celine is being received by the public better because she really did step back from her career to live a private family life. I think she's going through tough times now with her husband's cancer. Janet's career was permanently damaged by that performance with Justin Timberlake. I think MC will outlive all these women's music catalog, they will stand the test of time longer, especially her Christmas catalog will make her relevant for years even decades. Provided she doesn't completely destroy her legacy with constant lipping and embarrassing appearances which she seem to instill into public memory for generations to mock. I really like this one Celine did for Oprah's channel and it's beautfully made. I know Britney also did one for her residency with E and that one was just ok.
