Re: Lillie's Blues (Can't Turn You Loose) (50,382) by Warrior Butterfly from USA
I made a spliced of "Lillie's Blues (Can't Turn You Loose)" from the film, taking out the dialog between Billie and her mom. As far as I know it was never released. Wish it was though with Mariah doing her real voice. For those that may not be aware of, Mariah is the one singing the song, they just changed the pitch so she sound like a young girl. Enjoy fellow lambily.

Award shows / Jaker20 (50,381) by juan from Dubai
She can show up as a presenter for any musical number or perform as you said. Her nervousness/insecurities/concerns does kill her on live award shows, that's why the team (even most artists now) choose to have backing track to avoid any mistake. But lately the lip-syncing has always been a fail.

Jaker20 at the Oscars (50,380) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
Joker, you must be a joker. Why on Earth would Mariah go to the Oscars this year? I mean, she didn't even go to the Grammys or any other award show this season. She's laying low and working on her shit. I'd rather she focus on that than do the "who are you wearing?" schtick. Mariah isn't and will never be thirsty for gratuitous fame, she usually only shows up to support projects she is part of anyway. Plus she has toddlers, I'm sure they keep her busy. Vegas is only a May away, and her appearance on Empire before that will tide us over nicely I predict. This is the Elusive Chanteuse era, didn't you get the memo?

When you believe performance etc. (50,379) by MC1989 from Spain
I don't agree. When You Believe at the Oscars wasn't her best performance (the one they did in The Oprah Winfrey Show is much better, she slayed it), but it was very good. She looked great and maybe didn't sound loud but it's a memorable performance. Her high notes are delicious and her tone too. It's featured in the CD+DVD "Whitney Houston Live: Her Greatest Live Performances" (2014). I wonder when Sony is going to release a Mariah CD+DVD with her greatest performances on TV and awards shows, it would be a great way to celebrate and promote her 25 years in music.

Awards (50,378) by jaker20 from US
MC is not in awards shows like the Oscars because she's not really often invited. I mean, what is she going to do there? The last few years she's been trying to parlay her music career into movies but the best roles she's had are supporting. She's not really connected in the movie industry. JLo, as bad as you think she is, has been acting since the 90s. They maybe terrible movies, but she is a much more established actress with many hits under her belt, appeared in some classics like Selena and Out Sight and brought in money to movie studios. MC is not. The only way MC will be invited at the Oscars is if she is willing and capable to slay a performance like Gaga did. But her last Oscar performance with Whitney for When You Believe was not very well received, it was shaky and kind of all over the place. She looked like she was very nervous.

TheVoice (50,377) by Orkun from The Netherlands
I agree with you about writing new music but my message was meant at a deeper level. "Butterfly" is what you are referring to. But You can't refer to "Glitter" or "MIAMTEC", which were her down periods too. First, an artist needs to breath, eat and drink. She is a human first. During this time, her creativity will build up subconsciously. That's step two. She has to be in balance, not only to write good music, but to manage it too. Otherwise, no chance, in my opinion.

Making music (50,376) by B from USA
I hope Mariah is writing and recording at the moment. Why? Because writing and recording is her creative outlet and it's cathartic. Butterfly anyone?

The elusive celebrity (50,375) by Lee TS from USA
Mariah is not the best celebrity in the sense she doesn't act very celebrity-like. It would be nice to see her going to award shows and parties looking dolled up etc, but that's not her. She rarely does red carpet and usually skips those to the award shows she attends. It's even rare to see her being an audience member in an award show. You ever hardly see paparazzi shots of her doing things. That's why the day of her walking the streets of NY with her nephew saying it was too hot to talk was so random. I remember someone posting calling her the recluse diva and I agree. But I guess in a way it's cool because she likes her privacy and I respect that. We only get our Mariah when she's on the promo campaign and Aspen. She's not thirsty for celebrity.

Award shows / Mimi L. (50,374) by juan from Dubai
She was never a regular party-goer, that's why she is called "the elusive". I bet because she is a very insecure being and concerned so much of how she looks like. She isn't a magazine cover favorite for of her weight changes and "rich sexy American momma-style". It's definitely because of the people around her. JLo, on the other hand, even if she flopped her album, she stayed on a very positive light, never said negative about people on interviews and exercised so much. I'm waiting patiently for Mimi to be at least cordial to her contemporaries, and not say "I dont know her" attitude.

Mariah following fanpages on Facebook (50,373) by MimiLamb from Germany
Well it happened and I still can't believe it. Mariah decided to follow fanpages on Facebook including ours, I love that she is really trying to connect with the fans again. She has been more active on Twitter as well, replying and retweeting Lambs but also other legends like Deniece Williams.

Expanding: Oscars (50,363) by Warren (50,372) by Warrior Butterfly from USA
I watched Lady Gaga's performance wow. I did not know she could sing likethat. I am a fan but not a Little Monster. In the past Mariah has done some tributes/covers. "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" for Patti Labelle though it was raspy, I liked her imperfect tone. Christina Aguilera's "A Song For You" with Herbie Hancock really got her reaching other fans outside her fan base and seen in a different mature light. God if Mariah went full voice and ditches the whisper for a American classic, such as something from the un-ending catalog of Irving Berlin. "Love You Didn't Do Right By Me", a personal favorite. I know people would be like holly whistle register Batman. She did "When Do the Bells Ring for Me" with Tony Bennett. However Lady Gaga was used as the headliner if you will. Mariah's airy voice was used through out most of the performance with a few belts floating in and out of the number. Endless someone a lamb, Tony fan or someone happen to listen to the album all the way through you wouldn't have known Mariah was even featured.

Anybody know if there was an official release of this song? For you guys who don't know, this was the song Mariah's character Billy, in Glitter, sings when she's younger with her mom.

How's my body? story (50,370) by carlos from peru
I have read a lot of comments from some interviewers telling the same kind of story about waiting hours and hours for an interview and btw they add that she always comes with a glass of champagne lol and it's really bad because even when it comes about Mariah Carey, they are doing their job and they deserve respect. I don't know if it's Mariah's fault or her team. Karma exists and maybe all the last year mess was a "back to reality and be humble" message from media tired of Mariah's behavior to them and that's why they exposed and make fun of every little mistake from her. In the last years she's been projecting that arrogant image and we can read it on the web from people that are not her fan and don't know how she really is, so she needs to change that.

Why isn't MC in any of the major award functions at the moment. JLo seems to be all over the place. I mean not even the Vanity Fair party? Why? MC is one of the biggest superstars there is.

MC's bad habit (50,368) by Ardis Logic from Earth
It is unprofessional and inconsiderate to be late and keep people waiting. 5-10 minutes late, ok no big deal, but an hour, 2 hours, 5 hours or more is just straight up disrespectful. When I saw MC in concert she was more than 2 hours late. At least have enough respect for your fans to be on time. If you have to get ready earlier then do it. If you want the show to be later then schedule it as such. When you are being interviewed for a magazine or something like that at least be professional enough to meet the person at the time that is agreed upon. If that means 4 am then let then know that. If you don't want to do the interview, then don't agree to it at all. It's a personality flaw that I think she needs to work on. I'm really annoyed by the "diva" act. It really is starting to get old.

How's my body (50,367) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
When did this interview take place? She was in a blow up swimming pool for a video? Can anyone remind me which video that was? Or is it a new video because I can't remember any of her videos with that setting. Anyways, about the lateness of Mariah, I once spend hours on Mariah Daily Journal and went through their archives of magazines Mariah was featured in (they have the whole list) and I was reading the interviews and to me it seemed like almost every (with all caps) interview started with the interviewer talking about how the interview was scheduled to take place at one time but he/she ended up waiting for hours (never less than atleast 6 hours). There were some which said the interview was scheduled to be in the evening but it ended up happening in the wee hours of the morning of the next day. I came across this in her interviews so many times I almost thought MC or her team probably had the interviewer lie and say she made them wait for so long in order to sell her diva image. I know it sounds stupid but I did. I mean how can all the interviews start with "I had to wait for 10 hours and I was getting pissed but then in walks MC and the sight of her makes all the waiting completely worth it". This Ultimo person was the only one who said they were pissed and left pissed with MC. The others always mention how they found MC worth the wait the moment her presence graced the room.

I hope (50,366) by Orkun from The Netherlands
I hope that Mariah is not making new music right now. She needs balance first. She is angry and frustrated and hurt. She needs to go through a grief process first. After, she should take off her make up and look in the mirror. Be honest with herself and stop the disguise. Once she breathes again, she can make good music and adjust her attitude. Not before that. She has to come clean. The image has become her nightmare. Only being real is what will help her.

Yes, she does that plenty of times. Watch the "60-minutes" Australian 2003 interview and it is mentioned that it took place at 2:00 am or something.

Mariah's look, her attitude in some videos, working with new team (50,364) by MC1989 from Spain
Though I believe this booty stuff is bullshit, I would like to say that Mariah doesn't need any surgery nor botox. She's not a porn star and she's not a model. She won't become Nicki Minaj or any of those girls selling flesh in their videos in a sexist way. She has done something similar (sexist) in the past ("Heartbreaker Remix" video washing the car with Snoop Dogg in it or the "Loverboy" video) and fortunately she didn't go further. She started doing better videos like "Through the rain", and I'm glad that she's famous for her voice and her songs. She doesn't need to exploit her phisical anymore. In fact, she should start doing better videos telling stories, dancing some steps or whatever, rather than the "I'm so sexy" kinda video. She doesn't need to compete with today's trendy stars. She's the voice of a generation. She's pretty and talented. I totally share Ardis' opinion about accepting ourselves and working hard if you want to tone up your body (instead of photoshop abuse in some album covers). The same as with the voice, Mariah needs a lot of training and rehearsing plus a vocal coach and a whole new team working with her. If she's going to have any surgery, go and operate from nodules. Mara I agree with you. She looks gorgeous in the "Someday" video. The more natural and casual, the more beautiful she looks. I'm hoping for a big comeback. She will bring new and good music. I just hope she learned from the playback scandal and records songs that she can sing 100% live.

Oscars (50,363) by Warren from Trinidad & Tobago
I can't help but comment on Lady Gaga's performance last night at the Oscars. After the "disasters" that were her public image and then album Artpop (not a disaster musically by any stretch) she has taken a totally different approach and man has it worked. Mariah needs to take note of this. It can be done and Mariah more than has the talent to do it. Gaga has been trending worldwide non-stop after her tribute performance, mainly because of her vocals. People already know Mariah can sing, but it's her voice that has been under fire recently, a live performance with that kind of audience will do wonders. Gaga, also, despite being in her twenties has totally changed her image and covered up, so people can't help but to listen to what she has been doing with Tony Bennett and then last night. MC can do it, I hope she saw it and takes heed.

"How is my body" article? (50,362) by Liz Archer from Sweden
What the heck was that? Did that really happen? If it is, which I am doubting, I am really concerned. She have to realise that if she is to do press she can't have people wait like that or act like that. I got the sense the interviewer seemed pissed for waiting that long. It's just a weird thing to write.

Lol, eyebrows, random topic (50,361) by Ardis Logic from Earth
People are crazy with their eyebrows. I see women all the time walking around with their eyebrows shaved off and they have penciled in these fake weird looking eyebrows. Please just leave your eyebrows alone and appreciate the natural beauty. Sure a little grooming/plucking is fine, but it really is a bad idea to go with trends. Who cares about stupid trends? Be your own awesome self. Screw the haters. Love yourself as you are.

Shelly (50,360) by Ardis Logic from Earth
Please don't apologize for something that is not true. You are in no way an egomaniac, that is ridiculous. (Egomania is known as an obsessive preoccupation with one's self and applies to someone who follows their own ungoverned impulses and is possessed by delusions of personal greatness and feels a lack of appreciation. Someone suffering from this extreme egocentric focus is an egomaniac.) "The Truth" seems to enjoy accusing others for things that more truthfully describe them. Bullies tend to enjoy picking on those good, sweet hearted people. The best things to do with people like that is just ignore them.

Eyebrows (50,358) by Mara from United States
I just wanted to chime in on this random topic. I too love Mariah with the fuller eyebrows. It gives her a very sexy exotic look only she can pull off with her beautiful nationalities. Someday video look is my fav, but I also absolutely love her look in The Roof video with the red jacket and jeans on. There is something about Mariah with darker brows and eye makeup, her look in this video always gave me a young Natalie Wood vibe. Also the Honey remix video is a good example as well.
