The problem is (49,699) by Otti from Belgium
The problem with Mariah is not her singing, not her hair, not her wardrobe. There is something going on with her personal. And that is the divorce issue. She acts really weird lately. Or there's something with her health. We don't know. And we don't know when she signed for this Jazz festival in Jamaica. Even she's not feeling well emotional, she needs to show up. Because she signed this contract. We all know that artists take "medication" to get through something. We need to support her, once she gets through this madness, she can move on with her life. I will never ever write her off. She did so much in her career, that even other great female singers can only dream of. 25 years in this hard music business, and still relevant, no other artist can say that.

This is for G.G. (49,698) by Lee TS from USA

Ok you're upset. But here's the full clip of WBT with really bad audio. She left during the pre-recorded climax but came back skipping onto the stage improvising at the end. Hope it smoothes over a little bit for you. Yes it's still messy.

Scam (49,697) by Chicago Lamb from USA
I've searched YouTube and there is only one video of this Fantasy lip-scam. How do we know if its even real? I bet its just a publicity stunt as we all know bad publicity is good publicity. Please someone post different footage and I'll reconsider my position. How could she possibly mouth a melody that differs from the backing track? Sorry, I don't believe everything I see online and neither should you. Call me delusional but I want more proof.

Unaceptable (49,696) by Jon from Netherlands
I can no longer be a fan. Not of this Mariah. She is destroying something I really liked, admired and was inspired by. There is no excuse or sugar coating this. Mariah was (unlike what people say) a great performer. Performing CTTA at Divas Live or FLAB at Grammys are great examples of hypnotic, irresistible performances (even if they had a bit of lip sync). That Mariah doesn't exist anymore. What exists now is some messy person that appears to be under the influence of something to the point of disrespecting her legacy, her fans and herself. How disrespectful towards yourself can you be to the point of not stopping Fantasy and doing it correctly from the begining? You are making a fool of yourself and you go on? It's insulting to the fans, to the audience and to what she worked so hard to be. Her voice was actually very good but that very weird stage presence makes it painful to watch any more of this mess. If she is having problems stay home. I'm not turning my back to someone that is going through a hard time. I'm turning my back to someone that I've stood by through too many situations and still refuses to get her act together. It's now painful to see her make a mess of herself. It's actually very irritating because she is taking something away from me that was very important. One of these days she is going to suffer the humiliation of being fired from the Las Vegas shows.

If we ignore the problem it doesn't exist (49,695) by G.G. from USA
I wish all the lambs would get as upset about Mariah's half assed performances as they do of Andrew's opinions. My God, Mariah walked off stage mid song. That was completely unprofessional and disrespectful to the people who went there to see her.

Spare me the song and dance (49,694) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
There you go again. Like, where is all this passion and compassion where Mariah is concerned? And don't be ridiculous, I've never offended a lamb in my life. There is no mistaking my posts for anti-lamb or you would have been quoting me instead of trying to rewrite my posts like we all don't have eyes and fingers to scroll with. And stop contradicting yourself. You are, in fact, calling me out for being positive. Just like I address and call out the negativity. Why is it so hard for you guys to stand in your shit? I'm never ever going to apologise or shrink to make room for Mariah bashing. You can dish it out but you sure as hell can't take even a tenth of what you put out. As they say in the movies: You have the right to remain silent, anything you say, can and will be used against you. That isn't me telling you to shut up, by the way. You should keep posting, just know that I'll be ready to post more of my positivity. Action-reaction, yin-yang, ebb-flow, you catch my drift. But unlike some of these random posters I don't have a hidden agenda. And no, Mariah Carey is most definitely not a stock to be bought and sold according to the whims of the market. You do not own any parts of her. Slavery is illegal, in case that statement confused you. Mariah and the Lambily have a mutually beneficial relationship. Don't pretend like being a lamb is anything like being a breast of burden when the only real downside is having to deal with the sheep among us.

Damage control (49,693) by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
In my humble view, I would say the best that Mariah and her team could do to control the damage that is done is by releasing a new single and promote the hell out of it with live raw vocal performance. The song must be an inspirational ballad with killer vocals, maybe Bring It On Home or maybe Save The Day. She needs to promote the song on all major tv talkshow, like at David Letterman, The Talk, Ellen, Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, etc. In a way the single could raise higher publicity to her Vegas show.

I was not reffering to your message at all, sorry if you got that idea. I read that Andrew gave a shout out to the people that are "real" on this board. Saying somebody's name because they replied to you or thank them is something totally different in my opinion and I don't see that as a shout out.

Maybe others need to wake up (49,689) by Manny from U.S.
This time I do have to say something about this matter. Andrew, I think you should go back and read all your comments. You've been posting very negative comments about Mariah since 2 long years ago. It's not constructive criticism when you only focus on her mishaps and somehow never acknowledge her triumphs. I think you're the one that needs to wake up. For the most part, you are not happy with her. It's not a question of Mariah leaving, it's about you realizing that Mariah does not do it for you anymore. I don't know why you insist on all these harsh criticisms. I challenge you to read your old comments and you'll see who really has the problem here. Why waste your time and keep getting disappointed everytime Mariah messes up?

MimiLamb (49,688) by Dove from USA
Not really sure what you meant by the "shout out" comment. I don't need to be on any list or to get a shout out either, that's not why I come here. I just think it's polite to acknowledge when someone is directing a message at me instead of ignoring them. I say "thanks for the shout out" to acknowledge that I read it because I don't know what else to say.

Jamaica (49,687) by May from Denmark
There are a couple of things that I don't understand about the Jamaica shows. She obviously lip synch Fantasy and had troubles listening to the played recorded and the monitor. But she also had this problem in "TMB" and in "WBT" where she totally snapped. But VOL sounded great, I liked how she improvised things, how she made it more of a "let's enjoy the now", and it was clearly live. So why, if she sang so darling that song, couldn't she sing equally TMB, WBT and Fantasy? Why couldn't she just get rid of the pre-record and go full out live, her voice sounded good. I don't get it. About what I pointed before regarding her wardrobe, is not about the looks, I love when she wears mermaid gowns or short skirts, etc. But I feel that lately her wardrobe is giving her issues. She stopped the show from going on to fix her dress, again. It seems that the monitor plug bothers her a lot, she couldn't stop from picking her white dress when singing. The only thing I would really criticize her is the drinking part. I don't care how much she drinks, she could pass out for all I care in her garden, car, even the street. But on stage she should be solid rock lucid. Maybe the reason why she didn't stay up to the last bit of WTB is because she was feeling impulsive? I do feel, like another poster mentioned, that she will do great in Las Vegas because things will be prepared for her liking, for her voice and surely she will be for the rehearsals. I'm confident she will pick up again.

A couple of things (49,686) by May from Denmark

First I want to start by thanking Marissa for her post. It's so tiresome the "I'm true fan you all are not" attitude along with the shadings and indirects, I stopped reading those posts long ago because it's all about Mariah the untouchable goddess in the pedestal who is 100% perfect and unless you think alike and suck all Mariah toe nails then you are not a fan. Ridiculous. I think there can always be positive critics, calls of attention, suggestions, ideas of what could change, etc. There is always room for improvement. Regarding Andrew previous post, I agree with some stuff but on some I feel you were very harsh. I quote you "Mariah refusing to acknowledge her mental and vocal problems." What mental problems are you referring to? And I don't think she should retire but instead just snap and put some things together. I agree with the poster that says she has been having hits and misses. Her Rockefeller Christmas show was average to mediocre, truth to be told, but she picked up so well in her Christmas Beacon shows. Then she started the tour with the left foot but went on to finish it in a great note. She needs consistency. Regarding the social media, tabloids always disliked Mariah cause she never was truly scandalous. With the advent of the social media it just got easier to spread the "rumors" and lies and it made it easier to exaggerate or blow out of proportion things. The media don't portray her when she is strong.

I'm not going anywhere (49,685) by MimiLamb from Germany
The Mariah Carey we see now is the imperfect angel. I don't even want to know how it's for Mariah herself at the moment. I think she is aware that things aren't the way they should, it shows itself in her insecurity when she's on stage. Of course we should voice how we feel and see things in the hopes Mariah sees that we do care. But sometimes worry becomes hate and rudeness, I think that is what puts people off. I don't think there is a lamb/fan/supporter in the land that doesn't get it. I don't need to be in a list of "being real" or get a shout out just because I don't go around voicing my opinion on this board or anywhere else. I know my value as a fan, and I know the faith I have towards my idol. I have read a lot of messages here that I agree on, even the tough love ones. Personal live, personal issues, and what not, is never an excuse it's life and Mariah has just as much right to go through them as we are. We go through ups and downs hopefully with people that help us go through them. So I'm here for her, not turning my back and hopefully with that giving her some strength to pull herself together.

The strength of Mariah (49,683) by Joseph Akkary from Australia
I have never posted on this site before today, but I have been a fan of Mariah my entire life, and I (through Mariah's undeniable gift) have made many fans out of friends and family. What a strong woman, to stand up in front of the world and show us that, she is not perfect - just like all of us, and the people/fans that are her support tear her down? I commend Mariah for showing that vulnerable side of herself. So maybe we can't all score a home run, but does that mean that we stop playing all together? No, it means that we try our hardest, and the people who truly love you will be left standing by your side. Our idol is giving a great example, that perfection is not always attainable, and that's OK. Watching the performance, I have to say, I am quite worried about my friend. It is obvious that there is some emotional struggle going on, and I hope that she doesn't read all of the negativity that is being posted online (by her "fans"), as it would make it much harder for her. Regardless of any live performance, or any album sales, history has shown that Mariah is a force to be reckoned with. She is a global icon, who has shown a deep love to her fans, and believes in the goodness of the world, and through turmoil, has risen again, and again. Try to bring her down, but she won't face the ground, she will rise steadily, sailing out of your reach. Even on your darkest days, you are still a bright light in my life Mariah.

The silence of the lambs and the roar of the sheep (49,679) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
You're not pulling the wool over anyone's eyes. Let alone Mariah's. Do you really think she can't tell the difference between a lamb, a sheep and a wolf in sheep's clothing? We all know who we are here. Mariah and those closest to her coined the lamb term. It's curious (well, not really) how some of you will avoid using the word as if it's dirty or something. It's very telling, very telling indeed. This is the internet and this particular message board is open for anyone in the public. Which we love by the way. (Free speech and all that jazz.) Why wouldn't at least one of the readers/posters of this particular site be anti-Mariah Carey at any given moment? The truth is, Mariah has had genuine haters since day one and many of them have kept hating through 25 years and 18 #1's. If you deny the validity of that, chances are you live in a glass house. You know what's truly delusional? It's thinking Mariah Carey is the only person in the world that doesn't have irrational people disliking her every move That's a given in pretty much any other comment section online these days. Perhaps you wanna go on record vouching for every single poster, that's ever made a comment or otherwise interacted with others, since the inception of MCA in 1998? I'll wait. So if you have a tendency to take my posts personally, well go figure, hit dogs hollers.

Andrew you're way too harsh / my theory (49,678) by Randy from USA
Listen I'm not delusional like some on here but I do think you have gone a bit on the deep end with asking her to retire and implying she's not singing on her records. Here's my theory. I think she's making the full voice belt notes in the studio with a lot of digital aid. Maybe she's screaming the notes and they're toning down the harshness so that she sounds like she's belting. That is her voice though. Now you will agree with me that it is also fraudulent. I don't think she should retire though. I think she should sing in her Right To Dream, I Still Believe, When You Believe, Crybaby range. That lower husky tone is where she can always sing and always do it live without backing tracks, earpiece drama etc. She also needs to readjust her entire catalogue to fit this. Dude I agree that there's a problem but attacking her is not helpful. She's known for her voice and has been trying to keep it together since 1997 and now the cat's out of the bag with her lipsyncing the full voice belt ad libs at the end of songs. She's been doing it since that Oprah performance and has never had to address it. This is going to force her to. You can't look at the impromptu Fallon performance and think all is lost though. Mariah still has a voice. She needs to make music, even if she can't do what she used to. Singing and songwriting is part of her life and she would never retire.

Andrew's post is inexcusable. How dare you desecrate Mariah like that with your poisonous venom. You are not a fan. You are a [censored]. You do not deserve Mariah and her music. You are [censored] and so are the five people who agree with you. Take your own advice Andrew and retire, because Mariah wouldn't want you as fan anyway.

Observe the blow up (49,676) by Spir Ja from USA
She only F-D up Fantasy in my opinion. Emotions she's losing. I'm a vocalist, she's my hero, and we share a producer. I have a very similar tone and it took years to get my own vocals under control. As a baby I was OD'd with sleep drops and had my stomach pumped, ie. a tube down my throat, then with braces during my teens and "headgear" my jaw got out of alignment. I had a huge natural 4 octave vocal but the headgear injury screwed my sense of placement it took [...] of Jungian mind/body work to "find" how to control my vocal, which currently I feel I can successfully assert I [...] have for [...]. Judge all that you want (49,675) by Anonymous from
In bad times you know who is your friend. Everybody is judging Mariah but we don't know what she's going through, what's behind of a bad or bizarre performance. She was acting out of herself that night at some moments, that was clear. Yes, we want to see our idols always on the top, shining and in the last year MC has been in the eye of the storm for so many reasons, around of negative news and reviews. People in the social media is really bad and making fun of her with their comments. It's easy to say "retirement is the answer" (poor boy who said that). When you are down, proove to yourself that all the world is wrong and you still have a lot to give for. I think that Mariah needs to find some kind of peace with herself. She needs some kind of help and guidance. She should take some time for herself and then to work in her career with the right people. I don't give up. I don't see in Mariah just the singer that I admire or "the high notes singer", I find in her something else that makes stand at her side in this bad time, no matter what. And to Andrew, who was asking for Shelly, Edward, "true fans" or whatever, here I am, me Carlos (lol). I'm not blind to the reality but I'm not like all that people in the social media, [...] with her songs, she was there in my bad times, in my love times with her music. If you´re ready to leave then you still don't the beautiful and true connection between music and a soul.

Lord help me (49,673) by emancipatedlamb from UK
Well now, it's been a minute since I've been here, I'm sure few are familiar with my former days on this board, but I just had to break my "Never Look Back" rule for a second. One of the reasons I stopped posting was I really couldn't be arsed (English term, no need for a rewrite) with all the negativity, with the people determined to tear down the greatest - come hell or high water - babbling offences and calling it "being real". For the first time in I don't know how long, I read a portion of the posts, and I see no difference in about 5 years. People are still clamouring for the days of their "perfect Mariah", when there never was one, just a little girl with nothing to worry about beyond singing when she was permitted daylight. There is still this "lip-syncing" issue, which I addressed in an article I wrote during my site's own Mariah week last year - don't know whether it will be allowed to be shared here, but if so. As far as Fantasy in JA is concerned, it's mindblowing to me that no-one stated the obvious, there is a vast difference between lip-syncing and singing over a backing track. If it were the case of the former, you would not be able to hear her deviate from the melody line, which she clearly does, several times, throughout the entire song. Does she have rough days? Yes. The woman is human after all. Are they as many, or as bad as certain people on this board are determined to make them out to be? Not by a long shot. I've seen some crazy statements that had me seething, like one person's (not lamb's) claim that she didn't sing on the last album at all, but if there's one thing I've come to learn, it's perspective. Just because I can back my chat with evidence, doesn't mean everyone does, or even can. (When that fails however, I might point out a small NBC concert.) I was also blown away by the person who saw her live, knows she's still got it, but would rather buy into the propaganda. I mean wow. Anywhoo, I think I've said all I intended to on this trip for the nostalgia. Anyone who wants to keep up contact with me can do so via twitter: @emancipatedlamb

Carol and Jewel (49,672) by Travon..SweetSweetFantasy from USA
Carol, that's exactly how I feel. I feel like we collectively are becoming a crass. I don't want to be accused of enabling if I truly care for her emotions. Fans are becoming heartless and they never will admit their extreme level of critism as being rude. The same type of people do this everyday. They never have anything good to say and are the same ones that jump on here to criticize. They say "I should stop but I will continue talk", to try to justify what they need to say. I am optimistic she will rebound. Anyway I am looking forward to Vegas. Jewel in 2013, Mariah had a horrific fall that resulted in a displaced shoulder, cracked ribs, and several nasty bruises. This resulted in a delay of her album to 2014. The public also lost interest over time due to lack of promo because she took a while to rehab and contanstly wears the brace. She is currently misunderstood.

Styling (49,671) by Natalia from Argentina
As for her dresses as a fashion designer, I'm tired of those prom gowns, she only looks older with them like a 60 year old woman. Although the long dresses from the last Christmas concert were very very nice because they werent't tooo tight. I like this style of Mariah and I would loved to have seen some of this at the Jamaican Festival.

Voice and style (49,670) by Natalia from Argentina
Wow, I've never thought that I was going to write a line in here, but as it seems this is going OOC, I need to say a few things. We might have seen this before Glitter era. This is not a voice, wardrobe, stylist problem. This is herself again, feeling lonely, insecure, and not taking care of herself. At the stage she seems drunk or something. I couldn't believe when she walked away from the stage. She needs to stop singing like she is talking, that's annoying, she needs to re-arrange the songs in a different way, like she used to according to the voice she has now. I was excited because I thought she would do it but that didn't happen. There is no need to keep shouting, she still has a nice voice and you can tell in Jazz Festival, that she can do a lot of things with her voice. I wouldn't mind if she decided to sing this way for example like in a very calm and easy way. Lullaby Of Birdland is perfect for me, that's how I would like Mariah sing from now on.
