Edward did you mean 2 sets of 9 songs with a 4 hour break in between or 4 minutes in between songs? I am very curious on many simple topics and it will drive me crazy if I don't solve the curiosity. People who watch MTV are typically teens and young adults. That demographic also enjoys alcohol, looking good (lighting), puppies, and movies such as Mean Girls. She was more serious on shows targeting the more mature. I don't think she mentioned Mean Girls on Larry King. I agree with you on the rambling, I also wondered about that. I don't see anything wrong with her wanting special lighting, she knows her status and that people will be watching these clips for years to come. Awesome #1's live in Vegas concert idea (49,889) by William from Philippines While listening to ABMB an idea suddenly came up lol for her concert like she's doing all of her #1's which is like a tribute to her career, right? I hope she changes her looks depending on the song that she's doing like when she starts with Vision Of Love, she's dressed up as the old Mariah with the curls and simple black dress and when she's going to sing Honey she goes up for that sexy look with straight hair. When she's going to sing WBT she's gonna look like TEOM era and when TMB is on, she's gonna look like E=MC2 era with a pink yet lavender ensemble. Just my 2 cents lol. You must be half deaf to think that the other performances were "solid" and believe me, she didn't need to adlib to ensure we knew she was singing live. I'm ashamed that I've seen better stage productions from high school talent shows. I'm ashamed Mariah walked off stage in the middle of a performance. Mariah (49,886) by B from USA I do not believe Mariah ruined her voice by using drugs or alcohol. Her voice was strained from the relentless recording and promoting she did in the 90's. When rested and exercised she can still deliver live vocally. The Fantasy lip sync debacle is forgivable because she sounded solid during her other performances adlibbing to make sure we knew she was singing live. Lee / of course she will (49,885) by Edward from USA Lee, Mariah's residency in Vegas won't be a five-night in a row type of thing, she'll perform three non consecutive nights a week, and it won't be all year around. She'll have time to rest her voice between shows and warm up. Of course she will lipsync here and there, she's only human. The problem is that it should be done with grace and professionalism. I know she wants the show to center on her voice, but that's not excuse to have a production with a lifeless stage. The stage at the Madison Square Garden was full of life, the lights would change sometimes with the mood of the song, she looked great. Nowadays we don't have any of that, the only thing we usually see is a dark uninspired background, except for the Beacon Christmas shows, where the production was great. She partially lipped at Beacon Theater, but she did it right and that's what counts. If some thought MIAMTEC was a make or break album, now we know for sure that her Vegas residency will be. Response to Jon (49,884) by ADAM from USA If my post came across as attacking her as a human being then that was not the intended effect. I was only giving my complete observation about her from a period in time we can all remember and comment on. Clearly if I didn't like her since '98 then I would not be on this website nor have purchased any of her music nor watched her on TV/web after Butterfly. I am still a fan of hers and would rank MIAM as one of her best albums in her career. That being said, I think it's acceptable for one to be a fan and objective about a celebrity at the same time. I hope this post clears any confusion I may have created about my intent. I just think of myself as a fan who loves Mariah for what she was in the past and also what she is now. I just no longer have patience for the BS she spins during live shows and interviews when I think its inauthentic and unfair to us as viewers. This is why I'm not going to Vegas yet until I hear the feedback from fans and critics alike that it's a worthy enough venture to shell out my hard earned money. I think having a standard of behavior for artists to uphold to is healthy when one is required to commit their time and money in support of any artist. You're kicking her when she is down and then you turn and say "Btw I haven't liked you for almost 20 years." That's not ok. Mariah post 97/98 is the real Mariah. That's the one I would like to hang out with. Not some fabricated star that looks one dimensional. And you know what? That same Mariah wrote Petals and I wish you well (better than anything she wrote before), gave amazing live performances and gave us great albums that we could party and have fun with but could also listen to in times of need. If you haven't liked Mariah since 97/98 you don't like Mariah. You like the black dresses singing without Mariah. I only think there is something truly wrong since last year. This has been going on for a number of years. I honestly can't believe it has taken so long for the general public and the media to become wise to this. Mariah has been having vocal troubles for much longer. Of course it was all going to come crashing down eventually. Of course Mariah would get caught out in this day and age of social media, content on demand, YouTube and the availability of anyone, anywhere being able to record and upload an event in minutes of it occurring. I really hope Nathan Morris' words hit home with Mariah. But of course, there is no way in hell that Mariah is going to perform live night after night in Vegas. Not one little chance. It is a muscle that can be trained and build up but as the other muscles in your body will eventually loose their strength with age so does the voice. And there is nothing you can do about that. And it is fine. It is part of the journey of life. Now, certainly the process is pushed by stress, low or no exercise, alcohol, smoking etc. We are all humans and we have our struggles, failures and fears. We all make mistakes. So, Mariah may treated her voice badly. But I think that's what makes her also human. She is not a machine, nor are we still living in the 90's. I love Joni Mitchell and her change of voice throughout the decades, for instance. I'd love to see Mariah embrace this fact as well. Andrew / mental issue (49,874) by May from Denmark Thanks for clarifying Andrew, I thought you were meaning as she being cuckoo haha. I never saw her "wacko" act back then as a mental problem (be it truly mental or related to stress), I saw it as her being spontaneous and felt she was trying to be herself in front of the cameras, as before she was conducted all the time by Tomy Mottola (how to behave in interviews, what to say, how to dodge questions, to keep it "inside", etc). So it was fun. I think her cracking was evident because she was not the usual self she was showing us, she was more like hyper multi-dozens-revolutions-per-minute. She clearly was lacking sleep, being sleep deprive is practically like being drunk, then she collapsed. She admitted sleeping only as much as three hours per day in the Glitter era. But I agree with you that her diva act became too obvious. I felt she started having "airs of extreme grandeur" when she was selected for the VH1 Divas. At first I thought it was more than well deserved, but then the act went too far. She joked in the beginning but what it seemed as a joke became part of her. The lighting, the lounge couch on stage, the fixing of hair, make up, etc. when not even needed. I liked more when she came up with things like fun cartoons, ripping jeans for comfort, alter-egos, girlie girl stuff. The diva thing has not gone since many years. (Saturday 7 February 2015; 11:40)

Raphael (49,872) by May from Denmark Awwie, I will still be on the look for it as I've never really heard any of the interviews with Wendy Williams. Mostly because I just don't like the way Wendy interviews people, she is always pushy, hides hate into jokes, etc. It's just plain awful. I guess it can't be avoided anymore haha. But Mariah sounded very sweet in that 2005 TEOM one, I liked how she called Wendy on the face on some stuff, she is very brave and honest when she wants to. Nathan's message (49,871) by May from Denmark I'm not sure if he was referring as Mariah wanting to be the "old Mariah". I think he meant more like in the sense of wanting to sing for real again, quote: "I feel bad for her because I know what she can be, but she has to want to be that again." I felt he meant wanting to be there and wanting to be doing it. I have this impression that lately it's almost as if she doesn't want to be there. While for the Christmas Beacon she seemed to have given it all, probably was because of all the calls after that mediocre Tree Lighting performance. It's like if she is not poked about it, she doesn't do much effort. In Jamaica she even ate candy or something like that while performing "Shake it off", in the middle of the song, so part of the lyrics sounded all funny. Talking about the "Shake it off" performance, while I loved things about it she sounded as if she sang that song with anger, probably because the lyrics were heartfelt. Or is it only me who has this idea? Going back to topic, I think Nathan was honest and that is nice to see. He was decent in the way he delivered his message, it didn't sound as a negative judgement but more like an call of attention from a fellow professional who knows Mariah in the work environment personally. If Kelly Price wouldn't have been so awful in the way she expressed herself, perhaps more people would have paid attention to what she had to say. I guess it's just a coincidence that Boyzi II Men are in the middle of their own residency the second year in a row, right? People don't do things like post disparaging things on Facebook without a reason, without it benefitting them in some way. It's not because he cares about Mariah Carey's wellbeing. When is the last time a good friend and college of yours from work, with a lot less success that isn't even singularly theirs, made a FB post telling everyone you know that you don't do your job well and potential clients should be made aware of it? I know she's said she doesn't like doing covers, but she could change her mind. I gathered from reading comment sections the GP enjoys her voice but not the type of music she's been making. I know before I denied it because I got embarrassed, but I lied, I do want her to make a covers album. If anybody knows her, please pass on my list. I had posted a list before, with some of these songs, but I thought about it more and made some changes. (I have to at least put my dream out there.) I'm happy to see how the discussion is going (49,864) by Gilbert from USA Everyday I come by to check and see the feedback and sometimes I want to be sad about it but I'm not that fan I used to be. I care enough to say that enough is enough. I can't stand by and coddle every bad move she makes. It wasn't as if this is something that's new, it's something she continued to do and gets sloppy each time she performs. Isn't it suprising she hasn't come to defend herself? If that was me if be totally embarrassed. All I know is she is going down hill and little by little as it gets closer to the Las Vegas residency she better have a good team with her because the last thing she needs is to be fired from her residency. I have tickets to go, I was excited but her actions lately are pissing me off. $400.00 to watch a show that might be pre-recorded would be very upsetting. I think for anyone attending her show would be furious if that's what she has left. The thing I believe I mentioned before is she has talent, I'm sure she could rearrange her vocals and music so it can match up to her voice. I don't care if the song doesn't sound the same as the track, I'm smart enough to know that her voice isn't going to match up to what it sounded like 25 years ago. She has the talent to still use her vocal skills to give us a little something different. That's way better then giving the fans something fake that was pre recorded in a studio.
