Shut up already (48,352) by THE TRUTH from USA
So I have no reason to say anything nice about Mariah as some of you may have noticed but ready for a shock? I just heard those vocals and haters please, shut up. It was very arrogant and inexcusable to be 3 hours late but those vocals were just Mariah being her usual musically brilliant self but doing it with a cold. I think she was embarrased to just not show up and she did give it her very best. Mariah should keep her clothes on, get healthy, and focus on what got here, her voice. Anybody can have a bad day and honestly it wasn't bad, she was just hoarse. And Debbie Gibson, seriously? Not to be rude but who cares?

The last AIWFCIY performance (48,351) by Jake from New Zealand
Honestly, I don't think the performance was that bad. It was ok, bad for Mariah's standard, but not her worst either. Anyway, I just want her to go away for a while, after her Christmas concert. Maybe a year? She can work on a new album (with catchy hits) while taking care of her voice. I'm sure she still has it in her to sing as good as TEOM era. She also needs to lose some weight imo, because people dare unfortunately still making fun of her. I just want her to come back with great performances that will shut all the haters up.

Concert at Beacon Theatre (48,350) by Robby from Chicago USA
Hi all, is there like a "lambily" party or get together after the concert? I am going to watch the concert on Thursday. About that NBC performance, can we just forget about it and move on?

Billy and Make It Look Good MCIIY T-shirt (48,349) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
Mariah was pregnant then [...] thus too big for her normal wardrobe. Me thinks that T is TeenNick's. One of those that you can buy all over NY like: I'm with stupid, don't shoot. [...] My boyfriend's gay. Let someone tell me again how MIAMTEC isn't all about the great abandoner. Nice catch Billy.

Grammys (48,348) by Ken from USA
Why do the Grammys snub Mariah, what is there to have against her? Can someone explain please?

The time for Mariah is now (48,346) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
1. DemBabies haven't started school yet [...] won't for a good while. How many kids get to kindergarten in all corners of the world?
2. She's still in [...] good voice when the stars align.
3. The divorce is almost over [...] done with so she'll soon be officially single again.
4. Remember how Mariah used to release an album a year in the 90's? Presence never hurt any artist. It's when you go away that the sharks start circling your catamaran, tasting your blood is in the water, even though you're alive [...] well. She needs to reassert herself as Head Diva O' The Day, Mariah's nobody's shrinking violet.
5. MIAMTEC is still virtuality unheard. No videos other than the tour concert clips. So Team Mariah could start promoting it all over again if done right. Sleeper hits still happen so why not Mariah.
6. Why should Mariah be forced to retire at 44 when Aretha, Patti, Celine, Tina, Diana, Shania, Barbra [...] Shirley are still being celebrated, lauded and releasing new albums? Even Madonna who is no where near the singer Mariah is still make music, tours [...] works on films. Why not Mariah?
7. Just like Debbie Gibson shared in her beautiful letter Mariah told a journalist: if Debbie can do it [...] she's young, then why not me?
Yes Mariah, why not you?

Win for Mariah (48,345) by juan from Dubai
I completely agree with Randy. It's an issue America likes to dwell on, failures of famous people, but while this is heat, Mariah can book a live show on Fallon or what, and sing live and belt the hell out of Christmas. Not just to prove but to promote her show as well. I wish it'd happen. People likes these kinds of entertainment with real issues.

Beyonce (48,344) by LaCoya from USA
I hate to say it, but Mariah is going to have to pull a "Beyonce". She is going to have to prove to these critics and other people that she can still sing. Remember when Beyonce lip sing her performance for the inauguration and people dogged her until she proved them wrong? That is what I believe she will have to do. I hate that she has to prove herself over and over, but when people are always trying to ruin your career, over and over, you have to fight for it.

This is actually a win for MC (48,343) by Randy from USA
I think she will go back and figure out why she can't deliver for TV the way she can for small intimate settings and I gotta hand it to her for not letting her wall of background singers do the singing and not lipping the performance. I really want her to let go of her insecurities and just allow songs to flow naturally from her. I'm glad this happened because it's been smoke and mirrors for way too long. And once again, anyone with an ear can hear she still has a voice. Now what to do with it is the issue.

Vinyls (48,342) by Darryle from USA
Does anyone know of a place that sells Mariah vinyls? I'm trying to expand my Mariah collection. Her website only sells CDs and most of those are linked through Amazon. Amazon's vinyls are like $40 dollars for a used one.

No intelligence allowed (48,341) by TiffMelody from USA
Do the Grammy's have a "no intelligence allowed" policy or is it a "no talent allowed" or what? I can't make up my mind which is it; the bias against MC is so blatantly obvious. I mean what are they going to do when more people discover the genius behind this latest album and they wonder why it didn't receive any nominations? At this point, the Grammy has as much value as a paperweight, IMO. In fact, that is exactly what I'm going to think at the awards ceremony next year. "Nice paperweight you've won there." Lol.

Check the logo on Mariah's t-shirt from way back in 2010. Is it what I think it is?

Thoughts (48,338) by Stacey from USA
I applaud "The Talk" for standing up for Mariah. I still say, she should have "made it happen" (pun intended) and pre-recorded her song. Easy to hang up the phone, do what you need to do to perform, then get back on the phone. But, it just goes to show she will sing and perform for the fans. I hope after her Christmas concerts, she takes a break and really works on getting a healthy vocal range back, reach the potential of where her voice is now (if that makes any sense). When personal matters are high, it's best to take a step back, fade away, deal with it, then once done with those issues, come back and shut up the critics. She did it with TEOM. I know she can do it again.

Smear campaign, I say we lift her up (48,336) by Ty from USA
I've never understood why the public is so fickle about Mariah. Seems like they love to see her fail. When they announced she was 1 number one away from the Beatles the public turned on her, only reporting negative press, calling her crazy. Saying she was a hoe with rappers, saying she lost her voice. If I was Mariah I would retire and turn my back on fame and raise my kids, but she keeps putting out quality music and appearances. Because she loves the lambs, she does not need the money. Instead of bashing her, I'm gonna download her music and lift her up. She's always there when we need her. I am gonna respond to every article with love. Without her music and voice I would not be who I am.

Trying to find the pos out of it (48,335) by Marcel from Montréal, Canada
First, well if you ever wished you could sing like MC, now you can. Now, in a way I guess this leak was a good thing because she really needs to face reality. If she doesn't after something as bad and public like this (even bigger than her bad performance on her latest tour) then I don't know what'd let her face it. I hate all the false support by her friends like Ms Osburne and Debbie (2 of the few white people MC follows on Twitter) because this isn't an isolated bad performance, this is like not a constant but a pretty common bad performance from her. I guess she is keeping it mute or will came out with a lame excuse like after MJ's memorial performance where she was hanging them boobs on M's coffin and missing the notes. I don't care that much if she doesn't make a statement but I hope this time she really reflects and all of these things becaming so patent and for once go and try to get the needed help. Wish her the best. Btw, with the WMA she did the same to NBC and has done that to almost every single media. It is not nice what someone did but understandable. Actually long years ago they did it to E. Iglesias and I thougth what if they'd do this to MC? Would she change?

Gloria, Mistaken, Will, DK, Brad, Deedre, Ryan, Otti, R&B Junkie, John John, Ernesto (48,333) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
Et al. Thanks for showing up [...] refusing to drink the stale kool-aid from 1990 that's been making the rounds in the media about Mariah. Back then the talk was it wasn't even her singing her own songs [...] then it was that she couldn't sing live. Then she was accused of oversinging [...] just showing off. Now it's the blatant in your face lie that she's lost her voice, overnight, like freaking Ariel the mermaid? Where were they just a few weeks ago when Mariah had us feeling Emotions like it was 1991 on The Elusive Chanteuse Tour? The haters that be, want it to be true so bad they go around harassing lambs calling us delusional [...] wishing alcoholism on her. Apropos of Thirsty things, have any of you tried the Butterfly drink? We don't have it here in Europe yet, or do we?

Martyn, Marc Shaiman and that other [censored] (48,330) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
Yeah, that was me fangurling over Marc Shaiman below. Who wouldn't after this nice letter he posted on Facebook? Mariah is very aware of the comments, allegedly she posted this on Twitter: "I'm fighting a cold. Give me a break" [...] someone screencapped it before it got deleted. Probably haters attacking her under the guise of fandom. Then the champion of all fools went on Twitter [...] said this: "Mariah Carey, wish I could have been there to help. Lets talk." Where was all this altruistic caring in 1997 [...] through all her troubles with Tommy [...] Sony? Such opportunistic behaviour has rarely been seen since MJ [...] that's saying something. [...]

Ugh (48,329) by Brad Catoe from United States
I think some people still don't get it. Why does Mariah have go back to her roots or stop with the splashes? Leave the woman alone. I'm so over this. You read Debbie letter but then go Mariah change change. Bye.

Lee (48,310) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
I just want to say for the record, when I entitled my post "What do people want from Mariah?" I did so not because I was asking the question, but more to emphasize a point. At times I feel the actual music gets lost because of constant back and forth over Mariah's voice, live performances, versus lipped ones, what Mariah should and shouldn't be doing to improve her career/life whatever else. Could Mariah benefit from sitting down with her team, getting a vocal coach, reworking her songs to fit her current situation? Absolutely. I'm not suggesting anyone who has voiced that is "wrong". I'm simply saying, it is easy for people on the outside to look at things and say "I've got the solution. This is what you should do." When in reality none of us are living her experience. Was the tree lighting flawless? No, it wasn't. She clearly struggled. But to read what is out there right now on the internet about MC, and how "bad" things are it's as if people are talking about world hunger or some horrible injustice on the planet. There are upsets when she lips and upsets when she sings live and it doesn't go over as expected. It seems as though anyone who chooses to offer her compassion gets told they are making excuses for her, or not looking at things with an objective eye. I have absolutely no control over what Mariah does in her life she is the only one that does. I honestly can't sit here and say the tree lighting was the worst performance ever, because it wasn't. Yes, Mariah has hit and miss stuff going on with her vocal ability, but getting angry with her, judging her and blaming seems counter productive.

What is going on? (48,309) by Liz Archer from Sweden
What is this gossip about her being hours late for a performance? I think I heard this happen before. I really hope it's not true. Personally I would't give a damn (unless I was in the audience) but my worry is that this gives her a really bad rep, it is probably something as a singer today is never a good thing. People don't like it when they have wait for someone. People of today are inpatient and it doesn't matter if you are a diva or not. I know it's silly but some part of me want to see Mariah be successful again. Come out with an amazing album with music people love and that is different from what we have heard so far. Maybe a movie with a character that is interesting (and not her). Comedy might be a good thing. Being late for a performance gives the impression that she doesn't think the audience is important. People people after all came to see her. Unless it was a medical emergence or family crises of course. I have always been worried that she is surrounded by the wrong people giving her a false impression of the world, isolating her and such. I do understand that's is already isolated due to her fame, but still. Just worried.

Debbie Gibson (48,306) by Ryan from Canada
Well said Debbie. I hope you all read what she wrote. I feel like she took the words right out of my mouth. I feel ashamed to be associated with the fans that come here and don't take things into perspective about Mariah but instead feel that they have to criticize her when she is down. I personally thought that she did well during her performance. Obviously there were issues wether it be her voice or the weather or her earpiece. We all know she can still sing. I definately felt the emotion in her voice.

Debbie Gibson / Mariah (48,305) by Abraham from USA
How nice is this lady for coming to Mariah's defence and sticking up for her. Same with Sharon Osbourne and the rest of the ladies from "The Talk". It's good to see some people defend her. I think all Mariah has to do is stop with the splashes, do some vocal exercises and get plenty of rest like she used to. After watching the performance a few more times I don't see what's so horrible about it. Just because she didn't hit a certain note or didn't belt a verse. People want to jump on her and say she's over? I can't believe that they expect her to sing or sound the same way she did 20 years ago. If that's the case, listen to the album. All this backlash is bull s***. She doesn't deserve this. She went ahead and got on stage and sang live. She didn't have to. She could have just went home. But no, out of the kindness of her heart and for her fans she performed. Mariah didn't owe anybody anything. Yes her voice isn't what it used to be. Duh, we know that and are past that discussion. But she's still a force to reckon with and can slay all these ridiculous female artists.

The dear Mariah Carey video (48,304) by G.G. from USA
That guys is spot on. Telling the God's honest truth. I know this sounds cheesy, but starting at the 18:15 mark it really brought tears to my eyes. When he tells her she needs to go back to the wood shed where she recorded her demos and find herself again, I lost it. This whole situation breaks my heart for Mariah. The divorce, bad performances, no support from the record label, disconnect and alienation of her fans etc.
