Mariah's banging (45,835) by nikki from usa
I had no problem discerning Mariah's live vocals from the playback throughout and loved that she belted along with the chorus creating that wonderful "stacked" sound. I know everyone expects Mariah to sing all 7 parts at the same time live even in lei of back up singers, but I've come to expect that on this board. Clearly this tour is truly going to be an innovative marketing of sorts as she's really pushing the Butterfly drink which is a gateway to behind the scenes. If her tour takes her to the States I might buy one. I used to find it funny how other people like to claim Mariah's only famous in the US when most of her tours take her everywhere but here. Lol. Has Europe or Asia ever missed out on an MC tour? It's ironic now, how her album is more successful internationally than here.

Re: RJJ12 from USA (45,834) by NYHotShotta from USA
Also the reason E=MC2 didn't do well was the choice in singles. After Touch My Body the other singles couldn't translate well. Mariah wanted to release Migrate as the second single but the label wanted to go with the uptempo first single/ballad second single formal like with TEOM but had they listened to Mariah that probably would have been better for the album.

MC speech (45,833) by May from Denmark
At RJJ12: I thought the speech was great, loved all the improvisation, the little singing to the fans, even the comment "accused of influencing some upcoming singers" was a fun touch. Really you felt tension with JD? I didn't have that impression, I re-watched just now and didn't see anything out of the ordinary, JD did point to the toddlers but maybe just did it to remind her just to add something about them or maybe was a cue to start closing the speech, it could be many things. I loved the dress she came with to the stage. Why people are always expecting women to look like sticks? She looked gorgeous in both dresses, I think we all know she is no fan of the gym but she looked very well and pretty. While I question myself sometimes a couple of her late years wardrobe choices, the long dresses all look great on her. Wasn't this show performances already tapped like months ago? Surely wasn't live, was it? Maybe just the awards handling and speeches.

Staying positive but also objective (45,832) by May from Denmark
I love Mariah, since day one I followed her. I still remember when my mom came home with a cd and a cassette of her album debut and I asked her "Who is Mariah Carey?", I didn't even know how to pronounce her name lol. I recall listening to Prisoner and that was it, I was hooked for life. I even drew a picture of her when I was small and sent it to her hoping she would get it and I would get something written back haha, I never got anything but when I was a teen I watched a MC special where she showed the room where she had all the things she collected from fans through the many many years I was very happy. I'm 32 years old now and while I always liked her very much and still like her a lot as an artist, I wondered myself a couple of things through the years sometimes (like the time she gave the concert for the Gaddafi family, she apologized and then years later she did it again with another dictator) but I always let some things go, because we all make bad decisions at times and she is no exception. Yet while I see many positive things, I can also be objective, from the artistic perspective. I always try to say things with respect in this forum but English is not my first language, in fact, I have taught myself English by translating MC songs when I was 12 years old (so I have a lot to thank her for more than just inspiration) and maybe sometimes the way I write might sound a bit cold or harsh but is not intended. I'm just pretty straight forward and honest with my opinions.

Oh how much I love my girl (45,831) by Tony from Ireland
Hi everybody. It's been a while since I posted anything but I have been reading all the posts on this site and I love how everybody has a different opinion over things. I have to say that I keep my love for my girl Mariah as it was the first day, I love MIAMTEC from beginning to end, I really like her performance of Meteorite although I will never understand why they have to put her voice on top of the playback, but, anyway, and of course I will never expect her to dance. I love how Mariah has become a wonderful mother and love how she is been doing music for us, the fans. I can't wait to have her in Europe. Love and peace for every body.

Mariah not moving (45,830) by Ken from USA
I really don't understand why people are so surprised by Mariah's lack of movement on stage. What were you actually expecting?

Mariah / JD WMA (45,829) by 123 from USA
You can cut the tension between these two with a knife while they were both on stage together. Remember that the show was delayed because she was late and didn't get to air on time because of it. I wonder what the conversation was like between these two regarding that. JD pointed to dem babies in the crowd in the middle of her speech and Mariah quickly dismissed the changing of the shot during her speech. I don't believe he will be her manager much longer, and it's too bad because he didn't seem to be able to implement any of his suggestions. Before people just on me by saying he isn't experienced, JD did say that he suggested a lot of things that Mariah decided not to listen to. He wanted her to perform on Letterman, she opted for just an interview. He hinted that he can only suggest but that he has to respect the artist decision on how they want to market their record. This leads me to believe that Mariah wanted full control of how this record was to be launched and just wanted her staff and the label execute it. When the label disagreed with her direction and publically announced it, it might have led to issues with management if they had a different marketing strategy in mind than she did. I know people want Medina back but he was there for E=MC2 and we know what happened to that era once the cd was released, she disappeared/no promotion until late Summer. By then it was too late, the record had lost momentum and they couldn't decide on a single.

WMA / Meteorite performance (45,828) by 123 from USA
The acceptance speech was off the cuff, kinda wish she had something prepared but I like this one as it makes her more human and sincere. The dress was not flattering for her and I was shocked that she was able to drop some of the weight that quickly to slip in that thing. I really liked the performance dress, it was the right amount of sexy and looked good on her. The performance was ok, I was shocked she performed Meteorite as she had little time to prepare with attempting to finish the album. With such little time I wish she would have sang a ballad (mostly) live. Just to remind everyone why she is getting the Icon Award. She lipped the first two thirds of the song, but she did sing the last third of the song live with a backing vocal track. This is why you hear two Mariah's at the latter part of the song.

Positive/negative comments / mystery era (45,827) by 123 from USA
Just my opinion, but even though I get urked by certain individuals sounding negative all the time, I believe that most of it stems from what hasn't been happening this era. We are used to Mariah doing at least some promotion. Even though she really didn't promote her last two cds in comparison to TEOM. It's obvious she won't promote but we don't know the reason, which leads to the next reason. The second reason would be the lack of information/silence from Mariah herself. She has purposely kept us in the dark and I do not believe it is because she has become lazy or no longer cares about her fans. We get hints here and there, issues with Def Jam on the marketing/treatment of the record, her marriage, her injuries [censored]. These reasons only intensify other ongoing issues that some may or may not have such as lip synching, her wardrobe, her interviews, her marketing strategy or lack there of, etc. I'm glad she is touring, it gives us something to look forward and helps change the topic of what isn't going on and change the tone of this board. BTW, it is good to see new folks on the board, Shelly, Abraham, I like the energy you two bring. Just my two cents.

MimiLamb I totally agree (45,826) by Brad Catoe from United States
Of course Mariah does things that I'm like , but I try to focus on the positive as well. Although I did just comment on the lipsyncing lol Mariah. Mariah just came out with one of the best albums of her career so I don't see anything to complain about. Sometimes the complaints here are very superficial. What if people told you to act this way or act that way? Superficial critisism can be very hurtful. I just hope Mariah keeps entertaining us and inspiring us for many years to come. And maybe some live singing haha. I don't understand why she doesn't sing live more often. Her vouce in Austrailia was amazing.

Dutch Mariah Carey Association (45,825) by Webmaster Eric from the Netherlands
The forum on the Dutch Mariah Carey Association website has a new topic: "Why you like Mariah less". It's a topic where everyone can bash Mariah. People can write reasons why they don't like Mariah anymore. It's also filled with lies. It's really disgusting. I can't understand why a Mariah forum has such a topic. I know some posters here are (too) critical, but no one is mean towards Mariah. But that topic is filled with only mean posts. E.g. someone described in a lengthy post what Mariah had altered on her body (breasts, eyes, nose, lips etc) and he also presented "proof" of his claims. If you read that post, you would instantly puke. It's a good thing it is in Dutch only and most of you can't read Dutch. What I am trying to say is: please don't lower yourself to the level of those Dutch ex-fans and stay respectful towards Mariah and other fans. It's OK that you're sometimes critical, but please don't criticize everything Mariah does. This is Mariah fansite and (hopefully) we all love Mariah.

Lip syncing (45,824) by Lee from UK
As I said earlier, I have come to expect Mariah to lip sync most of her performances. However, watching the Meteorite performance back, I didn't realise how bad she was at it. There are lots of lipped performances where it appears as though she forgets where the whistle notes are and gets caught off guard. It always makes me uncomfortable.

Opinions is what makes us different from each other (45,823) by MimiLamb from Germany
I don't think it's the negativity or being critical that's the problem here, it's the way it's said that goes way too far at times. I don't believe that there is a fan out there that thinks everything is perfectly fine, it's the way to go about it is what makes my skin crawl sometimes. Mariah has been in my life for 24 years flaws and all. She brought me joy and hope like she did so many. That's why I don't go around expressing and sometimes even bashing her, I see her as a person a human being that will do things I don't agree with or things I wouldn't do if I were to be in her shoes. There is a difference that I don't see the need to express this over and over again. When I look at my own life there are many things I would have done different but guess what that makes us human and mistakes are there to be made to learn from them. Ofcourse a healthy balance is important but that is a thing that's off. Not only the people that are negative get critic here, the people that have positive things to say get the same, like your delusional or you can't see no wrong. It goes both ways, hand in hand if you will. Even I can sit here and read a critical comment nodding and agreeing. But I will never stop seeing the positive and pointing it out, we live in a negative world as it is. For me being a Lamb is a positive thing. Can we please give some attention to the lovely shoutout Mariah gave us as well. I mentioned it before we should not only point out the negative but also the positive.

Acceptance speech (45,822) by Dove from USA
I just watched the acceptance speech for the WMA's and I loved it. She seemed like a real person again and it made me feel bad for saying negative things about the performance. I like that she always thanks God and the fans.

Lip synching (45,821) by Dove from USA
The reason I'm okay with it is because I think her voice is more fragile than most and she can only sing well under certain conditions: lots of vocal rest, moist vocal cords, etc. I don't want her to ruin her voice but I do want to see her and I want to be entertained and have a good time. I saw Britney in Vegas and she lipped every song but it was still fun. I had never heard most of the songs she sang but they weren't boring and she had stuff on the huge screens that was fun to look at. It was an experience. I haven't seen Taylor Swift in concert but I saw the special on Netflix and her concert looks like a fun experience too. A lot of creativity on the sets and cheesy dramatic hand movements, but it's fun. Of course I would rather she sing live but if she's going to be struggling and straining to the point that its painful to watch because she's damaging her voice I'd rather she just lip it.

I agree that sometimes there are also attacks for being too positive. We should all be able to post our thoughts without fear of getting chewed out.

To clear things up (45,819) by Anthony Basco from Cardiff, Wales
I get the impression that some people here think of me as a yes person with no real views or opinions of my own, and that I think every single thing Mariah does is just too good for belief and nobody should ever express a negative opinion. But let me make things clear. I understand, accept and know that Mariah is not perfect. Are there things that I would do differently if I were in her shoes? Absolutely. There are some things or decisions she makes that I do not understand at all and think "why?". There are songs of hers I don't particularly enjoy, some performances make me shudder and some behaviours I find downright bizarre at times. But guess what? These things make me love her even more. She is so flawed it's unreal, just as we all are, but the incredible and beautiful things she does make up for that and then some. I respect everyone's right to an opinion even if I don't agree, and sometimes I feel that opinion needs a counter as I feel it is too harsh or unfair. But what I don't do is attack or name call or post vicious, malicious or rude comments. I do not think Mariah is perfect, but I don't need or want her to be. I love her for her unconditionally. I'll take real and the flaws and the tantrums and the diva moments over faked niceties and false displays of humility any day. And let me make one more thing clear - it's hard to post positively on here, as you get attacked for not slating what someone else thinks is not good enough. Just some food for thought.

Meteorite performance (45,818) by Marissa from USA
I don't think this performance was any worse than any she's given over the past two years. I don't really understand the outrage. Maybe people are disappointed because they feel like it wasn't worth the wait. I'm just desensitized to it because I know the days of getting a memorable performance (that isn't impromptu) from Mariah are over. I don't even have a glimmer of hope anymore.

Tour with lipping (45,817) by Keagon michael from USA
As one of the biggest lambs, I would not pay to see MC lip her concert. I don't know how much lower she needs to hit to see her career is a mess. Me. I Am is brilliant but without mind boggling videos with story lines (and not her laying down trying to be sexy or naked with boobs hanging out) she will not sell albums. She needs live performances on Ellen and Fallon, The View, Katie, The Talk, etc. She delivered what fans want on an album but other than that she is clueless. Poor MC.

Positive/negative comments (45,816) by Dove from USA
Like Jason Mraz sings, "The absence of the light is a necessary part." We live in a relative world and we can't appreciate the good without the bad. It is hurtful to read negative comments because we love Mariah, she is like our family and we want her to always be perfect. But we can't pretend like everything is great because it's not. Something is clearly wrong and we can't pretend we don't notice. I would hate to work for her because I would be afraid to tell her how I really see it and have her yell at me, or give me the silent treatment, or fire me. I'll admit I'm kind of an enabler with the people I love. It's obvious, something is wrong. Sometimes I'm afraid to say anything slighly negative on here because people do jump on you, on this board, sometimes. I think a balance of the realist and idealists is a good thing. What Orkun said is true, most of us just choose to focus on the positive. But I'm sure to some extent we're all thinking it. It's true, that wasn't her best performance. I prefer reading positive comments but negative comments have value too.

Meteorite (45,815) by B from USA
"But it's on what many Carey fans will probably find the most throwaway cut, 'Daydream Interlude (Fantasy Sweet Dub Mix)', that the singer really defines herself. At her best, as she is on this clipped, spunky track, Carey is a disco diva for the '90s, a worthy successor to trailblazing women like Donna Summer and Vicki Sue Robinson, R&B singers with an affinity for the endless groove." That excerpt from a review of Daydream explains why I love Meteorite. The description fits Meteorite perfectly. It sums up my feelings about the track and Mariah.

Mariah's shoes glued to the stage? (45,814) by Will from England
Maybe I was watching a different performance to you guys, but from what I saw, Mariah did what she usually does (hip swaying to the beat etc). It was not more or less than what she does on stage. I enjoyed the performance and the two whistle notes (lipped or not).

Blah (45,813) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
So here's what I hope for her tour. Firstly, I really wish she'd release and promote a single, Thirsty or YDWTD (I don't care), just any upbeat single. Go to some staple talk shows, let the world know about the album before embarking on the tour. Secondly, she has until October to rehearse. At this point, let's face it Mariah probably doesn't have time to go on vocal rests and exercises to fix her voice (I mean if her kids try to strike a conversation she can't hold up a cue card saying "run along"), so I hope she atleast rehearses lip synching properly. Yes, I do want her to sing live, but judging by recent performances I am assuming she is either having some voice issues or she is insecure that her voice has been damaged a little so she uses a track to avoid people thinking she is no longer a good singer (in my opinion she still is the greatest). This tactic has backfired one too many times. So if she chooses to lip synch she needs to do two things: 1) Record a different version of the song and use it. 2) Practice really hard so that the miming is not evident. If she chooses to sing live she should also change up the songs a little to suit live performances because let's be real, it's very difficult to sound as good as one's studio version. Thirdly, I really hope she uses the stage a little more. Dance around, play around or at the very least walk. Last but not least, keep them outfits sexy but classy. (Like the Meteorite one.)

Julie Taymor (45,812) by Dove from USA
Other songs I would like Mariah to cover are Dear Prudence, The Long And Winding Road, or Let it Be by The Beatles and Three Little Birds by Bob Marley. I was watching the movie Across The Universe and was reminded that it's stunning, visually. Wow. Mariah should hire Julie Taymor for videos. Or make a movie musical. I always think of the legacy and longevity. Across The Universe is a classic, Mariah needs something like that.

We Are The Champions (45,811) by Dove from USA
My dream cover is We Are The Champions because the lyrics just remind me of her life, career, and her. I've always thought her voice sounded best when accompanied by real musical instruments. Here are the lyrics: I've paid my dues, time after time. I've done my sentence, but committed no crime. And bad mistakes, I've made a few, I've had my share of sand kicked in my face, but I've come through. And we mean to go on and on and on and on. We are the champions, my friends, and we'll keep on fighting until the end. We are the champions, we are the champions. No time for losers because we are the champions of the world. I've taken my bows, and my curtain calls. You brought me fame and fortune and everything that goes with it, I thank you all. But it's been no bed of roses, no pleasure cruise. I consider it a challenge before the whole human race and I ain't gonna lose.
