Hero in Singapore - wow (47,631)
by Bill from the UK
| |
|
|
That performance of Hero in Singapore was f-ing brilliant. I haven't heard her pull off such a fantastic rendition for about 10 years. Like Anthony, I feel like I could cry. She sang with so much passion, so much heart, so much beauty. I cannot stop listening to it. This is why I love Mariah. There is nobody like her. Nobody could ever come close to matching that beautiful, beautiful rendition. I love her more today than I ever have.

Hero in Singapore once again (47,630)
by LC from USA

I don't know about you, but I am so obsessed with this performance. At first, I thought it was just because of the not so great performances in Japan, but it's more than that. Hero is a song that has guided me through some of the worst moments of my life, and for the first time in a long time, Mariah sang it like she meant every single word. She sang it for herself and for everyone that has been saved by that song, and she killed it. I noticed how Perez Hilton (a major hater of everyone) just posted the video, so I hope it picks up traction with the media to once again show the world that the queen never lost it. She's here to stay.

Goose bumps (47,629)
by Anthony Basco from Cardiff, Wales
| |
|
|
Listening to some of the renditions as the tour goes along has been giving me goosebumps. Incredible and what a return to form, a real power show to people who were less than impressed by this tour at the start (such as myself) that I should down and STFU. Incredible. Hero is a song I love, in much the same way Mariah does - it's an anthem of hers, once of her most famous, but not necessarily a lamb favourite in the face of her countless other phenomenal songs. But I seriously could have cried listening to her recent performance of that song. It blew me away and I thought it was beautiful, brilliant and confident. I love you Mariah.

As always, thank you for the Lullaby of Birdland mp3. Here's hoping we get a studio version someday. Wow, she sounded amazing. Hero was my first song I ever heard and I've been hooked for over 21 years. You know if Perez Hilton is singing MC's praises, she must be doing something right.

So touching to see the warm and fanatic welcome Mariah received from the Filipino lambily. They're so beautiful and dedicated, I love how she is treated like the goddess that she is. I hope she gives them an incredible show and a special treat like Through The Rain.

Mariah's live performances keep getting better which makes me think she had a head cold or sinus infection during that first show. That live rendition of Lullaby Of Birdland was astonishing. She's still got her voice and I couldn't be happier.

Tour money (47,624)

A part of me is wondering how much Mariah is earning per show. I know she was paid $900,000USD for her Tapei Concert of 13,000 fans. For her bigger venues I have estimated 1,250,000 to 1,500,000 per show. Smaller venues I am thinking 750,000-1,000,000 per show. What do you think?

To Asian fans, could anyone offer a tourbook of the Elusive Chanteuse tour for a reasonable price on Ebay? Unfortunately there is no merchandize of the current tour. I am sure European fans would appreciate it.

Singapore (47,620)

Mariah was great in Singapore. Finally she was singing live and she nailed it. My favourite performance was Fly Like A Bird. As in every real live performance there were a few pitchy moments but that is totally acceptable and normal. I'll take those moments over her lipsyncing entire songs. Clearly there was something going on when the tour started, either something physical or emotional. Or maybe she was still adjusting because she hasn't toured in a while. Whatever it was, we also got to remember that Mariah has had problems with her voice before and she's bounced back. Take the Music Box era tour. She had some not so stellar performances during that tour and some consider the era to be her prime. Don't get me wrong, she was mostly amazing of course, but she did dodge some of the difficult mixed notes (or upper belts), she had pitchy moments and her voice cracked a little, just like now. By dubbing her vocals for TV specials and home DVD's Mariah has created a monster. Some people expect her to be that perfect singer who never messes up. I think she herself is her worst critic. But live performances aren't meant to be pitch perfect, they're meant to be raw. As long as you give your all and there's an emotional connection there, the audience will be happy. I wish Mariah knew the thrill we get when she uses that incredible instrument and we get to hear her sing live.

I am so happy to [...] a full Lullaby of Birdland, Mimi is just so full of life singing it in the videos taken of her. With that song on the forgotten track list, I'm just praying that one of these concerts she'll slay us with the full version of this gem of a ballad she teased us with so long ago.

Re: G.G. (47,615)

G.G. clearly you've missed the point in the interviews Nick has done where they specifically ask him about Mariah and their situation. If they don't ask he doesn't bring her name or the current status of their relationship up. He responds to the questions they ask him. That's who he is, who he's always been. He has never not answered a question put to him in an interview. If Mariah was having to do promo for different things as Nick has they'd asking her about him too.

Music videos (47,613)
by B from USA

Mariah's last great video was Touch My Body. She needs to work with directors who know and understand her like Brett Ratner and Paul Hunter. Or fashion photographers, Herb did My All and David LaChapelle did Loverboy. She needs to hire a stylist. She looked amazing during her stint on Idol and during The Emancipation of Mimi era when Andre Leon Talley was dressing her. She can still be sexy, she just needs to be classy, timeless, and sexy at the same time. What do you guys think? I still love her but her ensembles since AI have been a hot mess, especially during this tour.

Hello Edward (47,611)
by Stacey from USA

Could you do a girl a favor and send me an mp3 of Lullaby of Birdland? Pretty please? I completely with your thoughts about the end of Supernatural. Those moments need to happen more, moments where we see MC let her guard down and be herself. I get the diva act is her shtick, but it sometimes gets old and often leads to negative press, something we can all agree she doesn't need. You can tell she loves her kids. It was cute. 1. "A complete and total mess" 2. "Dahling" 3. "Try it on me" 4. "The rarity" (in a Mariah special, she is referring to her legs) 5. "Sing Sing" 6. "I'm feeling diva-licious tonight" 7. "I love you, I appreciate you, I enjoyed you' 8. "If she called me something that starts with a 'b' and ends with 'itch' I rebuke it" 9. "We are lambily" 10. "Happy new year" sang in the whistle register, It was a voice message around New Year's. My friend and I couldn't get over how she went from talking to singing in the whistle register.

by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End

Mariah's many monikers. 1. Mommy 2. MiMi 3. Diva O' The day 4. The Elusive Chanteuse 5. MC 6."Riah" (according to Brenda K Starr, YMMV) 7. Echo eeho echo echo 8. "M" 8. Mirage, my personal favourite because even in high school she managed to be elusive because of being a session singer late into the early mornings. Same old Mariah. 9. Mary Poppins 10. Butterfly This list is numbered randomly. Honourable mention: Bianca. What are some of your favourite things about Mariah?

Mariah on (47,605)

Good to see MC extremely happy with her concerts, she should go back to Tokyo for vindication. I mean to give a free concert and clean that bad impression she left. Then she should go to Canada where she is well received. In the last show she is not wearing that glove and waves and moves her hand at ease again. Thank you God for saving Mimi.
