There's like people called haters... and we give them positivity (48,716) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End

3:40 Mariah: "We are all just living in the moment of being positive and there's like people called haters (no no, Cindi Cindi, one more thing) and we give them positivity. You see I can't even get a minute. Bye." So basically THTB have been on Mariah's radar since 2001, at least? Yeah, that sounds about right, probably why the Lambily formed in he first place. The only question is why you haters are acting brand new? You all been at it for decades, come rainbows come sunflowers you were always there, hating. Congratulations on your dedication. Pity you haven't actually been successful in your endeavours since Mariah is still the same quirky person she always was, but don't dismay, it's the thought that counts. Maybe in another 25 years you will have actually made some small impact with your whining and complaining about non issues or made up disasters. I mean, if you believe in yourselves enough and all that jazz, you could totally make it happen. Don't let anyone ever take away your hate. If anyone deserves to be hated on, it's Mariah Carey, right?

Gaga and signature song (48,715) by Pablo from Spain
I'm so excited to have a pic of my two fave singers together. I would love a Mariah and Gaga duet. Both are extremely talented women and both are super misunderstood. Both New Yorkers. It could work. Anyway, I asked on a message board I post at what non-fans would consider her signature song. (I usually just lurk here, have been lurking here since 1999.) The results: Always Be My Baby, Vision Of Love, All I Want For Christmas, Hero and One Sweet Day. So that might be saying a lot if non-fans can't even decide on what it is. She has too many hits and too many good songs for just one signature song. For me, it'd have to be Fantasy or AIWFC, but my faves are Breakdown and Side Effects.

LC and NyHotShotta / Me. I am Mariah... Full of Grace (48,713) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
Thank you guys for those illustrative videos. We all know who is in denial and has delusions of the real state of Mariah's vocals and it's not anyone in the Lambily. But you better believe I'll find great pleasure in the fact that they will go out of their way to avoid addressing the obvious facts that Mariah hits the same notes through every era as if time has somehow stopped for her. Her tone has matured, acquired even more depth, like fine wine but she's kept her vocals in great condition and her range not just in tact but perhaps even more elastic. She deserves to get an honorary degree from Juliard or something for sustaining this level of excellence for over 25 years as a professional singer. Yet they continue to call it a lie when the 100% truth is that Mariah Carey sounds in some respects better than she ever has since her debut. They are simply dishonest and therefore irrelevant to any real discourse. None the less, it's more than a little amusing to watch them contort and twist into every balloon animal imaginable except the proverbial elephant in the room. It's not that Mariah has never fallen down, made mistakes or done every single thing perfectly. It's how gracefully she lands and resiliently picks herself up again that is such a treat. I'm a lamb and I'm proud.

She falls so gracefully (48,712) by Lee TS from USA

This is the kind of diva I like to see. This is way too cute and funny and I love how she's singing for her life when she fell haha. The shoes coming off, running across the stage truly a Mariah moment.

Present Mariah (48,710) by ktktkt from Philippines
She's slowly getting her confidence back in her voice. It might not be as resonant as it was in her prime but her tone is still the same. I had let go of the thought about her sounding as good as in the Daydream era because only a miracle could make that happen. I'm contented if she could sound as good as Charmbracelet (live). Some would hate about MC doing mediocre performances but let's all be thankful that she didn't go the Whitney route. Give her a break and don't stress urselves too much because the "prime" MC will no longer get back. Appreciate while she's still alive.

Andrew / signature song / Mariah soundtrack contributions (48,709) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
In all fairness, I also appreciate fans like Andrew because I can relate to how he feels let down by how things have turned out for Mariah over the past half-decade, both commercially and in terms of her public image. I was once as fervently critical as he was, so I know that underneath all the sharp edges, it all comes from a good place. We still need fans like him on this board to give us that bitter dose of reality when we need it, even if we aren’t necessarily fond of his delivery. As for “signature song”, the term is universally understood as the song an artist is most known for. The Mariah songs that I feel are closest to that level of ubiquity and timelessness held by Whitney’s I Will Always Love You and Celine’s My Heart Will Go On are Hero and All I Want For Christmas Is You. Every other hit she has is unfortunately either just regional or really not that memorable. Since both IWALY and MYWGO are blockbuster soundtrack successes, I wonder why Mariah doesn’t dabble in movie soundtracks as often as other artists do. The Glitter soundtrack wasn’t perfect, but it had quite the killer material - it was just released at the wrong time. With her songwriting talent, Mariah should really contribute more to OSTs. Who knows, if current radio refuses to play her songs on their own merit, a movie just may be the perfect vehicle for her towards that ever elusive 19th #1 and reignite public interest. Now all she needs to do is find that perfect flick.

Mariah's retire (48,708) by Mike Dawson from USA
Mr. Edward, thank you for that awesome rare "Misty Moon" clip. Now to the obvious non Lambily. *Nikki* I don't understand how you can be a lover of Mariah and even say the words "Mariah should retire". Maybe you should google Mariah's discography because in between there was Rainbow which garnered 2 number 1 hits. Then, and I know I'm treading on this ice here, but Glitter as an album was not that bad. I mean, got her yet another #1. Charmbracelet was good. Then The Emancipation. Umm, how many number one hits? I'll let you google that too. Frigging Jay Z took out a billboard to congratulate her on her "sweet 16" number one. One thing I like about Mariah is that she doesn't just put something out because "she might as well, while she's got a little extra time on her hands". When you have kids everything changes, and I don't even have kids. I just know that Mariah is still Mariah. And she will not release something that she hasn't poured her heart and soul into. BTW maybe you didn't read the post that The Elusive Chanteuse was one of the top R&B albums of the year. This site is for Mariah supporters. And if I were to hear someone say Mariah should retire in real life, I'd react the same way.

Edward / MCArchives (48,707) by Orkun from The Netherlands
I hear you Edward. Crystal clear. Very nice post(s). In addition, one might indeed wonder about the decline of MC Daily website, as you stated, since Mariah's people are running it now. Clear example of mis-management in front of our bare naked eyes. I've been visiting this MCA website for years too. Now it's like my only Mariah source almost. Also a thumbs up to Eric from me. Let's be honest, it's tough. I'm not missing MC Daily anymore. Though for a while, I was singing "Un-thumb my heart" (Yea, corny joke, yikes). Merry Pre-Christmas to all. Peace.

Andrew / Edward / everyone (48,705) by Stacey from USA
Andrew, keep the posts coming. Diversity of thought works best. If people can't handle it, oh well. That's on them. Edward's point about MDJ should be read again. They tried comment boards after each news update. Look what happened. You had people attacking other fans if one dared to post some constructive criticism. It became such a hate fest that MDJ got rid of the boards. How sad. So, I for one am not going to let a few people dictate the conversation or tell me what I can and cannot post. I'll add my thanks to the webmaster for posting all kinds of articles and allowing all viewpoints to be heard. Peace.

Good luck getting a job again (48,701) by nikki from usa
This article on overtime is weird. I've been underpaid before, many times in fact. I tell them there's money missing in my check. Guess what? They ask how much, verify it, and say it'll be in my next paycheck. It is. The article says nothing about Mariah refusing payment, rejecting it, or even being told about it to begin with. You just work for 7 years, quit, and sue her? Good luck ever finding work again. I don't know who else would want to hire you after that. A celeb of Mariah's status who employs as many folks as she does isn't going to do her own bookkeeping. How do you work in her home everyday for 7 years and not say, "Hey MC, there's zeros missing in my paycheck?"

Why Butterfly was Mariah's last album (48,699) by nikki from usa
That album was epic. It was the epitome of classic, true, and commercial Mariah. I thought she should retire right then because there was no way for her to top it. It seemed as though she did. She created commercial, mature, universal music above all else and was 100% about the music (vocals and time). But, classic Mariah retired. Her next album was #1's and complete closure. She did an epic duet with Whitney which was Mariah's first song for a film that also won an Oscar. For the first time, Mariah was featured on a rapper's hip hop jam with Sweetheart instead of the other way around. She paid homage to her inspiration Marilyn by paying homage to the woman who started her career. She did her first ever real world tour that covered more than 2 continents for once. After that, Mariah was no longer all about the music. She enjoyed parties, friends, and a personal life. Her music became more the kind she loved and wrote about personal and specific experiences. (X-girlfriend) She got involved with movies and creating products. Now, when she gets a hit or critical acclaim I think it means more because the music is more of an artistic expression. TEOM was a perfect blend of classic and retired Mariah. As was #Beautiful. The fact she did a second Christmas album, her Memoirs, and MIAM is announcing retiring the music as her primary. In other words, this woman won't ever truly retire, but her personal life comes first.

Misty Moon / Happy Holidays (48,698) by Edward from USA

For those who celebrate Christmas: Merry Christmas, and for those who celebrate other holidays: Happy Hanukkah, Happy Ramadan, Happy Kwanzaa. I wanted to say that I don't take anything personal here. For those who couldn't see Mariah this time around, I hope you could see her soon. The experience of being in the same room with Mariah after all these years is still beyond this world. I'm leaving you with this little song Mariah sung for a Japanese commercial more than 15 years ago.

What is delusion / today is the day (48,697) by Edward from USA
Delusion: "an idiosyncratic belief or impression that is firmly maintained despite being contradicted by what is generally accepted as reality or rational argument, typically a symptom of mental disorder". Now, according to the definition, a statement like "Mariah's voice is in great shape and always has been" is a delusion and whoever said it or agrees with it, is delusional, as simple as that, without sugarcoating it. That Nick has diarrhea of the mouth is a fact, that he is childish is fact, that he didn't keep his nest warm is a fact, that he took advantage of her is pure speculation, since Mariah isn't a gullible Mary Poppins fool. On a positive note: I'm with Marcus and a couple of friends to go see Mariah at Beacon Theater. I was expecting Marcus to quack like a duck, but he is actually a real fan, with over the top Christmas signs and all.

this_is_qhm, Orkun / the neverending story (48,696) by Edward from USA
this_is_qhm, your post confirms that keeping your cool and class while getting your point across is best. You didn't risk an ass attack by being agitated, vicious or angry. You conveyed your point of view rather than pushing it onto Andrew. You didn't dismiss his post as wrong either, yet you rebutted some of his views with class. Orkun, be aware that agreeing with Andrew makes the righteous super-fans cook in their own oil. This board is great because of the variety of opinions. I would hate for this to turn into Mariah Daily. Ever since they sold their soul to the "perfect Mariah" image, their site went down the rabbit hole. Eric, thanks for allowing all kinds of news and comments to be posted according to your rules, that's why MCArchives is still popular 17 years later. You've allowed balance, and I appreciate that. I know in the eyes of the super-fans, you are a duck for posting all kind of news about Mariah, and for allowing comments from fans like Andrew, but guess what, we're still here 17 years later. Merry Christmas to you, and thank you again.

Palm concert a blessing in disguise? (48,695) by Cgee54 from Usa
I think the Pearl Palms concert is a blessing in disguise because nowadays people need to be reminded of how great Mariah can be live. Yes I agree she doesn't need to prove herself anymore but I think the GP doesn't see that way. This concert is refreshing to hear in audio because of how great she sounds. It may be bootleg perhaps but I think it helps remind the GP of how great she is live when she's rested and calm.

Mariah may not have a "torch song" (48,693) by John from USA
When you are an artist/songwriter with an extensive and diverse catalog such as Mariah's, it is hard to just handpick a single song and name it her "torch song". Anybody who has heard of Celine Dion, would quickly say that her torch song would be "My Heart Will Go On", even non-fans (of which I am) and casual fans. With regards to Whitney, ask anyone on the street and "I Will Always Love You" will almost always be the song mentioned. With Mariah, however, ask the casual listener, and it may be "Hero" or "WBT", ask an old school fan, or heck even Snoop, and they'll probably say "Vision of Love". Still, during the winter holidays, when Mariah is all over the airwaves year-after-year, "AIWFCIY" will be her torch song. For those fans who love the hip-hop side of her, it would be "Fantasy (ODB Remix)". Now, isn't it amazing that this amazing musical talent cannot simply be defined by one single (torch) song?

Andrew (48,690) by LC from USA

I think it's funny that you call people delusional for thinking Mariah's live voice today is amazing, when you expect her to do all the high notes without lip syncing to qualify as above average. We all see the problem. We're all fans, like you. But, as one of my best lamb friends has said, if you can't see anything good or "above average" in the Mariah today, while I and many of us can, who's loss is it really? We will enjoy ourselves, and still love Mariah's voice and music, while you can go and love the incredible and "above average" vocals of Taylor Swift. Bye. Also, if this isn't amazing, then I don't know what is.

Why silence is not an option (48,689) by Andrew from UK
Fighting? Mariah message boards used to be places to read insightful, thought out comments from Mariah fans, it was interesting to read the discussions which were based upon fact, considered opinion and fun. This board in particular has become the chiefdom of a few crazies hell-bent on dominating the conversations with their own style of propaganda and coercion. I see the new low is "nobody respond to people who dare question what we say to be true and they'll disappear". And anyone who uses the word "hater" should be sent back to school. Or to a psychologist. I have loved Mariah's music all my life. I believe she is much better than what she has been doing for the past five years. I believe her choices to be wildly destructive in that time frame. And I won't be silenced by those who try to silence me pretending everything is okay. It's like carrying on with the party whilst the Russians marched on Berlin. Mariah herself deserves and needs a better sort of fandom than that, surely.

Andrew and qhm (48,687) by Orkun from The Netherlands
I like qhm's message to Andrew. Seems very nice to me. I like Andrew's posts. Edgy? Yes. He says it as he sees it and I like it. Andrew, I'm fully cool with your posts. Without your posts, it wouldn't be as exiting to read messages. But hey, that's me. I can only speak for myself obviously. In my opinion, some fans just aren't able to hear the details in vocals. Technically I mean. When it's lipped, they really think it's live. Ironically, when it's live, we know it's live. No debate there. I think Mariah is improving but the problem is this: We have been "fooled" too many times over the past 10 years with lip sync on high notes. Now she is getting more real again. One step at a time. And I really think she will get there. The parts she truly sings live now, are getting better compared to the same live parts of the last 10 years. That's a fact.

Team Mariah prepping/sound checking back stage, warming and stretching her vocals before the 4th Beacon show (48,686) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End

Yes Mariah, if you got it flaunt it. Also, a negative Lamb is an oxymoron. You're either a lamb or a moron on oxy. Meanwhile, Mimi is snatching everybody's lives, wrapping it in her custom holiday-paper and giving it back, all in time for Christmas.

Bootleg: at Pearl Palms Concert Theatre (48,685) by PieterLamb from Indonesia
I'm just quite surprised how this bootleg item was sold in iTunes. Even many fans site in various social media had promoted this bootleg item quite obviously. You could disagree with me, but if I'm not mistaken Mariah never endorsed a bootleg/pirated item that is not officially released by herself. So I won't buy it. If I want to hear more Mariah's live performance, I could open YouTube. By buying this item, you steal what Mariah deserves.
