Family (47,345) by G.G. from USA Why is telling the truth considered negative? I defend Mariah on other blogs, fervently. This site is where we can come and handle family business and talk open and honestly. I don't think saying Mariah is having trouble with her vocals or that her stage show is boring is being negative. It's being honest. I love Mariah, and I always will. If she never puts out another record, she will always be my favorite artist and singer. Just a thought (47,344) by Aden from South Africa I recently watched the YouTube videos of the Elusive Chanteuse tour and find it extremely odd that during performances of love songs like My All, We Belong Together etc Mariah messes up the lyrics I think purposefully due to the tragic state of her marriage as if she can't bear to sing those verses. Just a thought Mariah the elusive vocalist blends beautifully into the concert and the state of her love life. Btw she still has the voice, it has not languished. (Friday 10 October 2014; 20:42)

Just wondering (47,343) by Gilbert from USA I've been thinking she has such great songs from her latest album yet the same ones have been performed. I wonder if it's due to personal reasons that Faded, Camouflage and Make It Look Good haven't been performed. For me I would have a big ass smile on my face if she did those songs and I was there. Scott from the US (47,341) by Mara from United States That is exactly what I thought after the third concert. What if she did have the surgery and this is what the result is? What if this is the last tour she is going to do before she has an interview and does tell the world what is going on? What if she wanted to get one more in there, hence the extensive stops? Well, we only can speculate. I do think she needs prayers right now. I saw the clip of Petals and Rainbow Interlude and what they saw, mimed or not was a raw, vulnerable Mariah. I saw MC on the Charmbracelet, Adventures of Mimi twice and once Angels Advocate and they were all more happy settings. The Elusive Chanteuse Tour has more of a sadness about it. More so even than Butterfly, as she was freeing herself from an unhappy marriage she felt a prisoner of. This time it feels different and you can see her breaking down on stage at different points in song. When she sings the Billie Holiday song she has that sadness all too real. She is a woman in pain on stage with this sadness and these reviews can't be helping. So I say pray for our Mariah to weather the storm. (Friday 10 October 2014; 19:39)

Many people did not like her when she was full throttle in promotion or when she sounded great anyways. Why the hell she should kiss their asses when their opinions wouldn't change either way? You pointed out the reasons why her voice deteriorated. If she used her vocals in an unusual way to get hit songs, then she did it for her fans, not for the critics. Don't get me wrong, everybody should speak their mind, but it has come to a point were people are only repeating what have been said a 1000 times already, it's getting depressing. I will never lose my hope and faith in this woman, nor do I want her to retire, to read people say that is just awful. I do think she is aware of what people and the press are saying, you can see it in this tour, not to overly sexy anymore, moving while performing, songs we want to hear and so on. These were all things fans were talking about and you see the changes. I would love to read about that as well, then only a list of all the things that are bad and wrong. For the record (47,337) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines In the light of recent (mostly negative) inconsistencies in Mariah's performances, putting aside the fact that she should always strive to be on her best during these concerts people pay expensively to see her for, I still think there's something quite admirable about how she still tries to power through her songs even though so far she's mostly been failing to hit the money notes, or even stay in tune. I hate to draw the tangent again but that's the same attitude Whitney had in her last performances she got so criticized for. Write this off as another lame excuse or whatever, but here's the thing - I love Mariah, period. And I know I'm not alone in this. That's why I'm still gonna be critical at times, but at the end of the day, I'll always "come home" to her. That's a weird way of putting things, but it's during these times that we tend to lose sight of how much this woman really is worth in our lives. And while it's disappointing that she hasn't really prepared for a night that a lot of fans clamored, worked, saved, and waited for, I still think it'd be more of a fraud if she just mimed her way through the concert just to make it seem like she still has it. Disappointed (47,336) by Nathan from USA This tour is extremely disappointing. Let's all be honest. We haven't heard a live vocal performance or any of the new album live for months. Then we get news of the new tour, promise of new setlists, new emotions to share and songs etc. We get a incredibly hoarse and out of character Mariah. She's known and been preparing for the tour for months, and she can't have her voice sorted? What has she been doing? Not only that, over half, prolly closer to 75% of the concert is lip-synched. All the new songs, and all the classics suffer from partial miming. Worse, I expected her to at least re-record songs for lipping, hence her studio visits recently. Album cut lipping is extremely lazy and obvious, and she is basically destroying what's left of her reputation. I personally, do not see recovery. I pray. She no longer even attempts to grace award shows anymore, and her vocal insecurities grow more apparent every album. Unless she can seriously get her act and voice together soon, I think her retiring is unfortunately the way to go. (Friday 10 October 2014; 16:18)

The truth about Ms. Carey's voice (47,335) by Nathan from USA Unfortunately, what is responsible for Mariah's vocal deterioration are not her nodules, per se. [censored] If you look back at 90-92, her voice was very soulful, full-bodied, thick with ease to growl and perform any type of vocal exercise required without strain. This is Mariah's natural voice, which we were unable to enjoy for long. [censored] Notice by '93, her tone has changed into an increasingly girlish timbre and more nasally sounding. She already begins experiencing worrisome vocal issues by the end of '93 on her MB Tour. By '94 (Merry Christmas), her voice seems to settle in to the new change, yet the difference in her voice is readily apparent. Mariah's voice has been used in an unnatural way, with her larynx in a non natural position. [censored] hence her even thinner, higher voice for CB. If you hear her now, her voice is noticeably nasally, thin and completely deformed from what it once was. This is what caused her inflamed nodules and decline. I agree with a lot of you (47,334) by Lee from USA You shouldn't believe everything some critic says. Michael Bay doesn't and his movies make billions. It should matter what the fans say. I would like to see footage of fans walking out instead of reading about it. For all we know, the critics could have walked out by themselves and said that fans walked out. On another topic, I saw the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees, and thought WTF? How the hell that MC is not for induction but artists who haven't had a hit in decades are ushered in? Easy-E, a dope dealer, could get in as a part of NWA. I'm sorry but I think that an artist that scored more #1s than Elvis and spent more weeks at #1 than the Beatles should be considered at least. People may refer to Mariah's antics but compared to other inductees that used (and sold) drugs, made porn, slept with teenagers, worshipped Satan, and mutilated animals, the woman is pretty much a nun. Nodules (47,332) by Scott from USA Did anyone ever stop to think that maybe she did have surgery on her nodules and that's why her voice is now the way it is? Perhaps similarly to Julie Andrews the surgery didn't work and caused irreparable damage. Otherwise, why wouldn't she have the procedure now? Because apparently the nodules helps her to hit the high notes? I would prefer tobe, quality of voice and mid/belting register over those high notes. For me, her tone and belt was what set her apart from the rest. You'd think these qualities of her voice would be more important to her also. She obviously knows, then again wouldn't it be worst to just turn around and go back home instead of finishing the tour? I think that one thing is calling her out in a polite way and another very different is humiliating her like some people have been doing. The problem is that most of those who call her out are tabloids, and tabloids are a magnet for disgusting comments with their awful dramatic yellow titles. (Friday 10 October 2014; 11:18)

Not gonna read more reviews (47,330) by May from Denmark K-zee I want to say before I go on that your comment, I quote "older couples, probably trying to beat the crowd to the crowd to the subway" made me laugh so much. Imagining an old person with a cane poking the young ones saying "out of my way" in a cartoony way. It's nice you tell us this because I also read some bad reviews, thus not even know if they should be trusted. Most come from this site that supposedly translates stuff and such. Other sites that are doing reviews on the latest show are taking the negatives from there. I'm done with bothering at reading any reviews. It's clear Mariah is having a hard time, no one needs dog ears to realize this. I do think that her performance despite this has improved but it is understandable that people want to just listen to her. I will keep enjoying the videos people upload and keep being supportive with the idea that she will get better from the whole ordeal. I have been to my fair share of concerts the last couple of years were the artist or even bands lipsynced and played their instruments of a track. It’s sad but let's not pretend it's only Mariah doing that. If you go to a Britney concert that is all you are getting, lip syncing. The excuse people give her is that she dances and then it's okay, I disagree there, she is a singer so I go there to not only see her dance and stuff. It’s just an example and I know Britney is not Mariah but at the end of the day she like Mariah is a singer. If I want to see dancing I will go to a dance show or whatever. But you are right, you go to a concert to hear the artist sing live. (Friday 10 October 2014; 11:01)

Adam, Marcus, Mariah Carey? (47,327) by Travon..SweetSweetFantasy from USA Wow I never thought I would see the day of very opiniated people. Just kidding. I will drink to that. It amazes me that people expect an artist of 24 years with an extensive catalouge to sing what fans didn't ask for during that specific show. It's called Mariah knows that she can't please everyone so she asks the fans to request songs you may not like. Marcus if you thoroughly checked her facebook or her Asia twitter page you might have understood that she performed songs via fan request. It bothers me also that we are clearly not on the Asia continent and we are speculating without proof. I have seen like every website review released of her tour and it seems that Adam is quoting a lot of what they are saying. Nothing wrong with that if you were at the concert to verify. Relying on footage of 1 or 2 bad songs out of the bunch is a bit overeacting. Relying on news sources that edit with make belief to make a buck with no reliable sources is disturbing as fan. Some people, fan or not, are hurting Mariah's career with these lies that cant be verified. The newer generation believes anything. I have never seen so many people complaining in my life about 1 person especially when the facts are tainted. (Friday 10 October 2014; 9:43)

About Seoul (47,326) by K-zee from Korea The only people that left were when she said "ok goodnight" after We Belong Together. It was just a few older couples, probably trying to beat the crowd to the crowd to the subway, I see this at most concerts. The majority, like 99% of people stayed right until the end. And, after All I Want For Christmas, the whole crowd was chanting "encore, encore". But then the lights came on and people started leaving. I think it is just a bad press bandwagon now, although I do understand people being frustrated at the ratio of mimed songs, she really did perform very well. A bad review for Seoul is not being fair. The attack of Mariah game (47,325) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End Being a lamb is not for the faint of heart. You have to be constantly on your A game, there is no relax mode because somebody is always coming for her sideways. Even the ones who were the closest to her at some point literally turn on a dime. It's no wonder she and MJ bonded. Well, I'm not going to be made to fell like a villain for looking forward to seeing her in concert, something I have never had the opportunity to do before, when she comes to Europe. Concerts are also a chance for fans to show their appreciation and love for the performer. There is always gonna be someone who isn't happy in the audience for whatever reason. But I refuse to let them be the barometer for what I personally enjoy about Mariah's concerts. I like the unpredictable adlibs and impromptu anecdotes. Where are there are so many reasons why I love Mariah, her voice is really only one aspect of the equation, a very lovely and magnificent part. But I think she is hilariously funny too, and intelligent, kind, generous, loyal, inspirational and Mariah has so much integrity, a quality I am most in awe of whenever it presents itself because of the rarity. Mariah and the elusive surgery (47,324) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End May, Julie Andrews settled with the hospital responsible for the surgery so I'm not surprised that she has been gagged from speaking in depth about what exactly happened to her. But before the settlement she did speak of having "one nodule". In the Oprah interview she sorta skirted the issue by saying she never had cancer, "nodules" or anything. Notice the use of plurals and the omission of qualifying what she did have. So technically Julie was telling the truth and honouring any nondisclosure clauses all at the same time. There are a lot of people who are salivating at the mere thought of Mariah not being able to sing that would rejoice in her misery if what happened to Julie happened to her too. My point is, Mariah doesn't need to be pressured into risking her "saving grace". Even if it comes from a good place, we as fans have to be careful what we put out there. Mariah is just as susceptible to manipulation as anyone of us. We should choose to support her when she's down and not jump down her throat at every missed note. (Friday 10 October 2014; 3:40)

What is happening? (47,323) by Marcus from Brazil I don't mean to be negative, but is it just me? Are my ears messed up? What is happening with Mariah? She's removed some of the most difficult songs from the set-list, she's lipping some songs, but she's still not delivering. She's forgotten the lyrics to WBT in two venues now, also the lyrics for DE in Korea, disrupting the mood of the song switching to a mumbling out of place improvisation. There are rumors of people walking out of the concert in Korea. What is all this? When she was singing AIWFCIY and she was placing that decorative while snake on her neck, she pushed the microphone away it was evident she was lipping because her voice stayed the same. Not only fans but the GP are noticing these problems. God, please don't let her go down like that. (Friday 10 October 2014; 3:37)

Mariah lip-syncing on tour (47,322) by ADAM from USA I think it's unacceptable for Mariah to lip sync so many songs during her tour. She is a singer and if someone is paying for a ticket she has an obligation to actually sing her songs and songs press play from the same CDs we all have at home. It's fraudulent and if so should be noted before purchasing. It makes me upset because fans pay money to see her and she serves her fans back a subpar product. Some of you may say well her presence is enough, but I disagree. When you're doing a free show, fine you get what you pay for just be happy. But when you put on a false show and take advantage of fans devotion to your old catalog of hits that's wrong. Lastly, my feelings about her lip syncing songs were not that much of a problem in the past when it was done on just high notes or a song or two but now the amount of none singing she is doing is just wrong. She needs to continue to be called publicly and hopefully forced to confront why she is doing this practice. (Friday 10 October 2014; 0:54)
