Is a change coming? (44,634) by Will from Australia I found it very interesting that Mariah attended that silly drink press conference in much more suitable attire than we've seen in quite a while, I mean she wore a diva gown to the bloody playground before. I wonder if it's beginning to sink in that the public ain't buying the chanteuse diva image. Or if it's a case of that's Mariah the business woman and the other is Mariah the singer. Either way I hope a change is gonna come. On another note, the gloves. I think she has suffered nerve damage from either the fall or something else. She usually always has her right hand covered, sometimes both and in the video for You're Mine she puts her right hand to her hair/face and there is a strange shaking going on with it. YDKWTD single (44,633) by Jono from USA So is this no longer a single and is the promotion done for this album? It's a shame. I don't really listen to radio (because pop music has turned awful), but having done it the past couple of weeks to see how Mariah would compare, YDKWTD would sound so fricking fresh. No joke. Even though this has a throwback feel, it would sound so unique in between the autotune dance tracks and the hipster mumford and sons sounding songs. Mariah and co, please don't blow this opportunity. As lambs we're not expecting TEOM level success, but for people to know that MIAM exists. Baffled and bewildered (44,632) by Marissa from USA The more time goes on, the less I understand Mariah and her decisions and I think that's why she's lost a huge chunk of her fanbase. Why the hell would you put out an album that was 5 years in the making and barely promote it before and after the album dropped? Why put so much effort into a project and watch it flop without trying to save it? I don't only support MC when she's commercially successful, but the reason I want her to be is because this is a wonderful album deserving of success. No one wants to see a quality album flopping worldwide because barely anyone knows it exists/cares. She drops the best album since TEOM and this is when she decides to "put a wall up and walk away" from promotion. The "I have 18 #1 hits and I write all my songs" thing is not going to work for promotion or hype anymore. Once people find out her last hit was in '08 they write her off as irrelevant. Welcome to the world. The GP has a "what have you done for me lately" mentality no matter how extraordinary your accomplishments were in the past. Now some drinks? This is like watching a train wreck. Like someone said, if they aren't buying your album they damn sure aren't buying your drink. I too am feeling like maybe MC is doing some things to chase the $ sign like this new drink line and even American Idol when she said for years that she couldn't see herself being a judge on that show. I would tell her to get her promo game and her live performances together. I would tell her to get a stylist and choreographer immediately and to stop with the unrelatable diva attitude, rambling interviews and no more "dahlings". It's no longer funny or cute. I would tell her that all this mess is tarnishing her image and her brand and that to be on top again she needs a complete image overhaul. I get the feeling that having a husband like Nick Cannon may also have shifted her focus. Promoting the beverage instead of the music is bizarre. The honey flavored tea would make more sense. If people don't want to buy her music, why would they want to buy her beverage? I thought: how would IDJ executives (or technically what used to be IDJ) feel about Mariah joining forces with the previous CEO of Def Jam? Mariah is looking for more business opportunities. Mariah even made a joke of almost naming MIAM, M.C.E.O. Kevin Liles has a big vision for Go N'Syde. They are joining forces with 40/40 clubs, owned by Jay. The state of the music business is different now. The major music companies fell apart when file sharing came along. iTunes became bigger. I wonder how much iTunes paid Mariah to have her CD streaming? It does seem unfair for us fans how Mariah is handling this. We see Mariah as an artist, singer, and performer. Mariah is The Voice. Mariah is looking at it from a business perspective. So much money is at stake, why would she risk losing it? (Tuesday 10 June 2014; 19:31)

Remember Regina George gained weight and Katy and her friends made the board about how she was losing her band of loyal followers haha, ofcourse in the movie, Regina was nicer after she lost her "popularity". Can someone post that list? Another thing, I hate bullies, there is a way to make helpful suggestion without being a bully. Ask yourself when you post, am I being a Bull or a Lamb, have a bit of empathy. Being a lamb is not blind worship, iT is acting like family. So imagine Mariah was a family member. I always love it when the "true lambs" get angry at those of us lambs (and we are lambs) who are upset with the lack of commercial success. Do they not realize that Mariah herself always uses her past success (18 #1 hits, 200 million records sold, etc) as part of her hype and brand? I mean, she used it on AI to shade Nicki Minaj. Mariah really hasn't had any sizeable success since the beginning of the E=MC2 era (maybe Obsessed, which was a top 10 hit). So she's losing more and more credibility in that area. Like E=MC2, MIAM is full of hit singles. I mean, why "You're Mine" was released instead of "Thirsty" or "YDKWTD" in February is beyond me. Great song, horrible single choice. I think at this point it's obvious that Mariah can only succeed with a great management and PR team. She may be a musical genius (no denying that), but at this point, I'd say that's about it. She's clearly not a smart businesswoman. She's slowly but surely destroying what's left of her career and any chances for future commercial success. At least we have the memories. I am Carly from USA If you ask me to guess, behind the scenes right now, Mariah and Nick are in relationship counseling through church, trying to save marriage. Mariah deciding to not fire nannies and instead just be with kids more. Mariah doing meeting to find ways to own her brand, and brand herself. Mariah holding off on official videos before she loses more weight. She could very well be on hormones and other things at this age that impact weight. She may be building muscle which initially makes her boxier. Her top half is slimmer already. Would you tell the world all these secrets? Probably not. I love new Mariah music (44,616) by enwar00 from usa I disagree with some comments. I'd rather see Mariah release an album and not promote it, than her not release an album. Of course it would make a lot of us proud if she opened at #1 and had a hit single, myself included, but it's obvious that some people truly care more about her being popular and selling than hearing new music from her. MILG, YDWTD, Camouflage, Supernatural and Money are my favs, in that order. That said, the marketing of this "project" is an insult to the fans on this board alone. She has hyped her success as part of her image and now doesn't seem a bit interested in assuring it in any way. I think "letting go" is letting go of us, the fans, fame, money, whatever. But she needs to let go of that sycophant, JD. Learn from JJ, bb. And she may just have to because if she no longer appeals to me, a fan of 24+ years who is fortunate enough to be able to fly to various cities and see her concerts in the front row, then she isn't going to appeal to anyone with her current public image. I hope she has soundly invested what money she made. And her new beverage? Mess. Her "performance" at the presser for this drink was scattered, as ever. Not to mention it alienates the super majority of people who care enough to even post on this board, which I venture to say is about two-thirds gay males (including myself). Still, I aint gonna buy no pink bottle with sugar water in it. Have a little more forethought than that MC, jeeesh. Why not make it honey flavored tea that's good for the voice, I could maybe see that. Also, if the voice is gone for live performances, be upfront. I mean, Memoirs flopped, but MIAM has just gone bombs away. And she has no one to blame but herself and her incompetent team. Maybe this will be a wakeup call, like you and I have been saying. I mean, I still haven't forgiven her for E=MC2, and I now believe that was the last chance she had for an epic era. Moving forward, I'd be really happy with a gold album and a Top 10 radio hit single. But perhaps this is Mariah's turn to go the way of Janet and Celine. Then again, Celine actually sells internationally lol. Mariah is so much better than this, and MIAM proves she still has that magic touch to make amazing music. But the question is, does she care anymore? If she wants to retire and be a full-time mom, that's totally fine. Just don't release albums if that's what you want. It is disappointing seeing her promoting anything other than an album that took her 5 years to release. No word of any other single being released, so fans now will finally leave the "Migrate should've been a single" litany to jump on YDKWTD, MILG for the next 5 years? What is going on? Maybe all this mess is a blessing in disguise, she might humble herself a little bit like back when she was still popular. Maybe she'll realize that people don't like this over the top diva persona she has put on since E=MC2. Nobody is telling her that she comes across as arrogant and unrelatable. The more control she gets over things, now with JD as a poppet manager, the worse things get. Maybe this is a wake up call. Adam from the US (44,610) by John from USA Your post summarizes my thoughts exactly. Mariah provided us with an amazing album. Even many of the critics agree. And that is precisely why it kills me that it's not doing better. She really does deserve success with this album. Not only is it just a great record by itself, it also has several songs that could do really well commercially (Meteorite, Thirsty, and YDKWTD). Mariah is synonymous with commercial success whether people like it or not (or, at least she used to be). I understand if Mariah just wants to be a mother not be a machine. That's fine. By why release this album at all, then? Why put in years of hard work in writing and record these amazing songs if you're just going to let the entire ship sink? If Mariah wants to retire to take some more time off for her family, I fully support her. I just wish she could pick a path and then stick with it. If you're going to release an album as great as MIAM, then get out there and promote it. It deserves to be heard by as many people as possible. (Tuesday 10 June 2014; 15:16)
