Michele: Answers to your questions (44,291) by Christy from USA
The "Me. I Am Mariah" snippet was only on the digital version. And you are correct; it was the same thing you heard/saw in the YouTube video where Mariah explained the album title. Second question, not 100% sure why all the symbols were needed but I believe it was meant to convey, as Mariah said in the song, money is just "this, that, the other". In other words, money is nice vacations, expensive foods, you fill in in the blank.

Monroe singing (44,290) by Licia from USA
The video of Monroe singing supernatural is uber cute. She was getting it in that car seat. You can hear Roc as well yelling/singing. Lol.

Her voice and reputation (44,289) by Skip from United States
Her voice: I actually think her voice is as flawless as ever. The fact that she may choose to record songs in a lower key these days probably has a lot to do stamina, protection of her voice, and wanting them to be written in keys she can perform for years to come. Also, voices change. Listen to Jennifer Aniston's speaking voice in the early years of "Friends" compared to how it is now. It's dropped. That's just nature. Mariah's voice is still the greatest one recording music today. Her reputation: Yes, I do believe her tardiness, her spiraling answers to questions, her "elusiveness" do put people off. But I think Mariah's mind works in a way unlike most people's. I think her genius in music and lyric writing is tied to her somewhat abnormal social skills. And I, for one, would rather have the Mariah I have now than one who was less musically brilliant just so she could answer a reporter's question more succinctly. Bottom line is: I love her and support her, through every high and low, and no matter what's going on in her world right now, I trust her, and I'm thankful for the supremely genius album she has just worked so hard for so many years to give to us.

Mariah's appearance and JD (44,288) by Skip from United States
Mariah's appearance: I personally don't care how much Mariah weights, what she chooses to wear, or how she wants to conduct herself in an interview. After 24 years, she's proven her worth and she can do whatever the hell she wants. My only concern is her lack of self-confidence, which she admits to. This is a beautiful person who believed someone when they told her years ago that she has a "good side" and hasn't forgotten it. When Mariah gains a little weight, I see her even more self-conscious and that's the only reason I'd want her to be in top shape - so that she can feel as beautiful as she is all the time. (How she behaves in the "#Beautiful" video or the live performance of "Fly Like A Bird" from Idol Gives Back would be examples of this.) JD: I don't know what goes on behind closed doors, so I don't really know what he's doing to manage her. I do feel a producer should focus on producing and a manger should be hired to do managing, but Mariah's a brilliant business woman. You can't achieve her level of success without being hands on. So I trust she knows what she's doing, and would make a change if she felt a change were needed.

The label (44,287) by Skip from United States
The label: I feel Mariah's frustration. When she gets exasperated in the Robert "super fan" video over "For the Record" not being a single ("these people"), it shows how IDJ has never had the confidence in single selections. Examples: Charmbracelet: "The One" is switched to "Boy" during the video shoot; "BOTH" bizarrely follows "IKWYW"; "Yours" only gets a TV test run. TEOM: "To the Floor" and "Say Somethin'" are both tested out before "It's Like That" finally gets chosen; "Stay the Night" gets one TV performance… in the Netherlands. EMC2: "Love Story" gets switched to "Bye Bye", again during the video shoot. "Migrate" gets a 12", "I'm That Chick" gets remixes, then they release "I Stay In Love". MOAIA: "IWTKWLI" gets chosen when "Betcha Gon' Know" is actually charting, the video is delayed by weeks; "HATEU" has an entire verse and chorus cut out of the video. MIAM: With 5 singles - "official", "buzz", "for the fans" or otherwise - before the album, the label appears to now be waffling between "Thirsty", "YDKWTD" and "Meteorite". Plus, "Charmbracelet" and "E=MC2" were both to have deluxe American re-issues, while Memoirs' two remix albums got canceled as well. I've never seen a label this insecure about their choices and, when finally making those choices, this incapable of backing them up. I see no reason for this constant retreating except for a lack of faith in their own skills. If they believed they knew what they were doing, we'd see that in their marketing.

The new album and promotion (44,286) by Skip from United States
Long-time reader and life-time lamb here. After reading everyone's comments, I have many things to say. I know long posts are discouraged, so I'll split this into sections and hope this will meet the wWebmaster's approval. The new album: I am of the opinion MIAM is her finest ever album achievement. It may not be packed with singles, but the production is so intricate, diverse, and creative that I feel we get to see every side of MC on this album in a way we never have before, even more than TEOM. She's told us this is an "album" experience, that she wanted this to be the truest representation of her, and I think she's achieved that. I remember she wanted E=MC2 to be packed with singles and that album doesn't feel cohesive. Here at album 12 (or 14), I feel she's finally given us her truest piece of art. The promotion: I don't know why she isn't doing tons of talk shows, but it may be that she feels this album will be a grower and not a shower. It will take people time to discover the full album, and word-of-mouth and a tour will help with that. She was in no rush to complete the album; perhaps she feels in no rush to sell it, either. I, for one, am glad the album is of such high quality that I'll have no problem talking it up to friends. If it had been subpar, then we would have truly been in trouble.

Questions regarding MIAMTEC (44,285) by Michele from USA
I bought the deluxe (non-Target) version and first, there is no track called "Me I Am Mariah". I think it was supposed to be only 1:12 minutes long and it's probably the little snippet we heard on YouTube when she was showing the back cover. Does the "regular" and Target version have this? Also, why does "Money" have all the punctuation after it? I thought that meant swearing, but clearly it's not. I am loving Faded, Thirsty, Make It Look Good, You Don't Know What To Do, Meteorite, and Money.

The queen delivered (44,284) by Gerald from USA by the way of NYC
I actually got the album late Monday night and I couldn't help myself, from the first note in Cry I was hooked. I have to say despite the delays we got ourselves a winner lyrically and production wise. For me this is Mariah's most cohesive album in a very long time. I truly appreciate the art that is this album. For me I am in love with the following songs at the moment: Cry, Faded, Dedicated, Make It Look Good, You Don't Know What To Do, Money. But honestly with each listen it changes lol. Congratulations to our queen for delivering a certified banger.

Did you buy Me I Am? 6 copies here (44,283) by M from USA
I downloaded the clean and the explicit version on iTunes. I also bought 3 explicit CD's at Target and 1 Deluxe version with bonus track "America the beautiful". I hope everyone is doing their part. I know the music industry has changed since 2009 when Memoirs debuted with 168K copies sold but 70K this time around still blows my mind. Yet Coldplay is on fire. If only Mariah would release a single and pay clear channel again to play the hell outta the single again. I agree with others on there that she needs to be on Ellen, Fallon, The View, Arsenio, etc. Me I am is brilliant and I really hope if nothing else Mariah wins a Grammy from this body of work. because it's that good.

Stacey / MIAM (44,282) by Bill from the UK
Stacey, I love it when posters here say how much they like Make It Look Good. I must have listened to that song literally 300 times. It's on repeat on my iPod too and from work and on in my car and plays on Spotify in my house lol. I just think it is a wonderful, brilliant song. When I can tear myself away from MILG and listen to the rest of the album, I must say I've not enjoyed an album this much since TEOM came out. I think every track is a blast and aside from MILG, my other favourites would be Money (when I leave the house I mentally say "money, this, that, the other" as a checklist for my wallet, door keys, car keys and work pass), Cry, One More Try, Beautiful, Dedicated and Supernatural. I love hearing "dem babies", especially when one of them says "I love you so much", just adorable.

Non-official #Beautiful single disc (44,281) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

Did any of you see this? I would love to have this. It looks so #Beautiful. I love the pictures he chose (yes they can be easily obtained from screenshots, but whatever). The boxing, the idea of placing the CD, everything looks so good. I want it.

MIAM (44,280) by B from USA
Me I am Mariah is a musical masterpiece. I'm loving Dedicated, Make It Look Good, You Don't Know What To Do, and Meteorite. I've already expressed my love for #Beautiful, You're Mine, and Thirsty. Cry, Faded, Supernatural, and Camouflage are vocally driven standouts. She may want to part ways with IDJ but she didn't rush this record. She took her time and made the music she wanted to. I've been a fan since 1995(Daydream). I'm not forcing myself to like the new album, I love it.

Mariah 2014 (44,279) by Me. I am Carly from USA
I feel like Mariah gave us such a gift with this album, and frankly we were so close to thinking we would never get it. Remember how half the lambs thought it would be shelved? I can't help but think that after spending her whole life trying to appease others and find love through fame, Mariah is finally at a place where she has unconditional love. As we were living our lives she has been in a fishbowl and I think she is very happy with her music album and lambs and family, so she just can't be worked up over proving herself anymore. I was upset about this prior to the album but now it feels like she is just living more organically good for her, she is not going anywhere but we need to adjust.

Initial thoughts on MIAM (44,278) by Stacey from USA
Bought the album Tuesday night and have had it playing non-stop in my house dealing with kids, etc. First off, let me just say it's nice to hear MC's full voice vocal. I know many fans love the whisper, but it's nice to hear all parts of her voice. In having the record playing while I chase my kids around the house, lol, I have to say the first song that stopped me in my tracks was Make It Look Good. Oh my, that song is my jam at the moment, and SW's harmonica solos? Pure gold. #Beautiful is great. I'll tell you though, it's kinda funny how this all works out, but YME is a favorite of mine on this album. When the song was released, I didn't hate it or love it. I was indifferent toward the song. But, for some reason, hearing it along with the rest of the song, it stands out as a favorite. You Don't Know What To Do is smash hit. Wale can still go, IMO. But, if he has to stay, I can live with it. Honestly, this song should have been released in February ahead of the album's release instead of YM(E). Heavenly is amazing, but too many chord changes at the end. It's almost like enough already. One or two at the end would have sufficed. Still listening to it and digesting it. Peace.

Album AD is not in the sales paper (44,277) by Gilbert from USA
I just noticed (and at first I was bummed because I initially thought that the special edition from Target was only available online, because that what the site says, then I asked my brother who works there and he said he had them and at the time there were only a few left). So her CD is not announced in the AD and I checked BestBuy the same thing so what's up with that? But either way if you reflect back to my post my brother and the sales rep at BB was saying that the CD's were selling.

Better promotion (44,276) by Manny from U.S.
I would read the messageboard and thought people were referring to the WMA as the NBC special. I didn't know she has a special on Saturday night on NBC until I did more research. I go to the TV guide online and it's called "Mariah Carey: At Home in Concert with Matt Lauer". This time I am irritated with the Mariah team. Get it together. If the fans are not getting all the info, imagine the other people? When did they mention the special? I only saw people here speaking of it and just refer to it as an NBC special.

Underestimated sales prediction (44,275) by Anonymous from
How in the world they come up with these numbers? I didn't pre-order my album and none of my friends did either. But I just got the album and my friend did too. When I bought the album the person ringing me up didn't even know she had one coming out and asked me more about it, so I did tell her about it and that it's a amazing album. So Mariah's lambs plus people that don't know should make this go up if they advertise right.

Thanks for the messages (44,274) by Anthony Basco from Cardiff, Wales
Thanks to everyone who has replied to me. I'm glad that's how I come across as that's how I intend it. I genuinely do enjoy discussions and reading all kinds of opinions and reflections on Mariah's music and eras. Eternal, I'm glad I made you chuckle, I almost deleted it as I didn't want to come across too sarcastic but at that point I just couldn't help it. Some of my comments are meant in jest and good humour so I'm glad that's how they're perceived. Randy, I enjoyed our conversation. Sunshine, what a lovely message. Your messages do come across well to me. I think you're doing a fine job with English. I can't imagine how difficult it must be to try and convey your thoughts and feelings in a language that isn't your first so I think to come across as well as you do is great. And it's nice that we have a community of posters from all over the world. It's another thing that makes this website so great. So thanks as always to Eric for all the hard work in keeping up such a wonderful community.

Will there be a NBC special today? (44,271) by Me. I am Carly from USA
Today if I understood correctly is the day that Mariah was to have a special air, correct? Does anybody have info on this? Mariah said on the Today Show that she was saving" Thirsty" performance for the special. I understand that it may have been impacted by the awards show mishaps, any clue? This is what I have been waiting for in regards to publicity and just generally wanting to see myself.

Re: Gilbert plus Me I Am (44,270) by Tony from Ireland
I have to say that I feel so delighted with Mariah's new album. I think it is perfect although I feel some people don't think the same. The songs that I listen to the most are: Supernatural, Faded, You Don't Know and Cry, but I don't skip any song. She really knows how to make a good record. Pitty that sales are not going as good as they should, but one more thing I will say. I don't care. She has nothing to show to the world, she's the queen. Love and peace.

Mariah (44,269) by Gilbert from USA
Hey guys, just wanting to see how everyone is enjoying the CD. Yes I know some hate it and some love it and really this isn't to make a big who-ha about that. I just wanted to know which tracks you've been listening to most. Mine of course as I've always said is Thirsty, but I'm sure loving Make it Look Good. Anyone know what Mariah is saying toward the end of Thirsty (I've googled lyrics, but haven't found the ad-libs added to the lyrics)? So far I've picked up "let see the stars on the boulevard" (I think) "that VIP you got what you see, up in the club you keeping on eyein' me".

(44,267) by SC from USA
First of all, I would like to congratulate everyone on the quality of this album. It really gave me a feeling that I didn't feel since TEOM album. Bravo. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that we now have several issues going on with regards to the promo and future success of the album. MC created a great product, so we now need to spread the word to make sure the general public connects with it and listens to it. All of a sudden things got silent after the WMA situation and headlines came up with regards to MC being late and now the broadcast was "postponed" in the US. Come on. We all know what that means. NBC will no longer play it any time soon. Unfortunately for MC and the album's performance, this was one of two prepared promos for the album. The general public now only has an NBC special on Saturday night to hear about the album. Big problem? Saturday nights are not the most watched evenings in US TV, especially in the summer time. Monte Carlo took two days to shoot and fly to, so we lost some time to promote the LP, the team needs to reassess the situation and kickstart some damage control promo now. We all saw the sales predictions, so that's obviously an eye opener that we have a situation in our hands. She's in NYC, why can't she perform the album at some of the talk shows? Take Coldplay for instance. They always have great sales, but last week they performed several times across NBC programs. That's the promo that you need these days to spread the word. MC seems to have a good relationship with NBC, then let's get her to some of these shows. Another concern is that the MC website still looks like a Memoirs site with no new information. How odd is that? 99.9% of official websites usually create hype for the album. The point is not to be negative, the point is to express my concern due to the fact that the product it excellent and this album needs to be heard. Let's make that happen. Fans can only do so much, but the rest depends on the artist and its team. The album won't be heard on its entirety if people don't know about it. Reviews can do so much, but it just concerns me that an artist of MC's caliber can't do the promo needed for a comeback. Her previous LPs were excellent in my eyes, but the public didn't fully connect with them, so this is a critical point that may affect her legacy. We are not complaining, we are looking for answers if you have a plan that will benefit this album. At this point we all know that she needs to go out there and perform songs. I see this marketing campaign so far as an effort to connect with fans through social media outlets, and that's great, but Q&A sessions can only do so much. The public needs to see her everywhere right now. We know you are capable, so please help us make this album the success that it deserves. "We all need to make this happen", but to her team: [...] I'm sure you understand our concerns. MC, don't give up. Thank you for a great album.

Get me off this label (44,266) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
A lot of people are saying that MC is not promoting the album and her singles because she doesn't care and just wants to get off the label. While it may be true that she wants to get out, but I don't believe that she doesn't care about her album bombing. Come on, we are talking about a woman who is terribly self conscious and is used to bragging about her #1 hits (I am not saying this negatively, it's just a fact), so it's hard for me to see why Mariah would just sit and allow her albums to bomb because at the end of the day, we may blame the record company for not doing it's work, but the GP and critics and chart positions will scream "the MC album flopped" not that the "Island album flopped". People are negative about Mariah as it is, would she really want to tarnish her legacy further by giving out an under performing album (despite the fact that she worked night in and night out to turn it into a masterpiece)? I don't know what's wrong, but I won't buy it that MC doesn't care what happens to the album.
