Album cover (42,275)
by Gilbert from USA

Hey gals/guys. I hope everyone is well. This is just for fun. Wouldn't it be nice if Mariah did 4 alternate album covers and let the fans pic which one to set as her upcoming album cover? I think that would be fun.

An all-time low (42,273)

I honestly hope to God that Mermaid In Disguise is not the official title of the album. I'm sorry but that sounds like the name of an album Hillary Duff would have released in 2003. To me that title is just straight up embarrassing. Some members of the lambily may be cool with it but the general public will never let her live that down. Let us pray.

Supporting "You're Mine" (42,272)
by KeShawn Taylor from United States

Good afternoon lambs. I think it is fair to note that while "You're Mine" is receiving close to no promotion, it is rising and appearing on more and more charts. I just checked the charts myself where it is at 45 on the R&b/Hip Hop Chart, in the top 40 on the Pop Chart, Dance Chart, R&B/Hip Hop Airplay, Rhythmic Top 40 and in the top 30 of the R&B Chart. While Mariah is finishing the album and not promoting, we need to assist her. I challenge each of you to for a full week, in honor of 3/27, to call every radio station possible hourly requesting to hear "You're Mine (Eternal)". In addition, lets all commit to constant views of the video on YouTube and Vevo to assist its streaming. As the lambily lets do our part to help secure this new era that is slowly but surely picking up. Can anyone post radio phone numbers for us to call hourly starting Monday? And I mean we call multiple radio stations each hour all across the country. There is no long distance via cell phone so lets get em get em go.

Surely not? This sounds like another "Rainbow was going to be called Lollipop" moment to me, but hey, as long as the album gets released I don't care what Mariah calls it.

Just a thought (42,270)

I have a feeling Mariah is working on more than one album, that would explain a lot. Knowing how unsurpportive IDJ have become rescently, she's not about to let them ruin this era with their issues. She is much aware of the fact they are to blame over the underperformance of MOAIA and the wrong single choices since E=MC2 era. She might be working on two albums, one to fufill her contract with IDJ and the second for the new label.

Bill and Mariah in the flesh (42,269)
by Me. I am Carly from USA

Haha that was totally funny, thanks. I have learned to not take this board so seriously. Why in the world should I? It is just for laughs. For the lamb who asked how she is in person, well when I first saw her I was amazed at her skin, it is just so incredibly beautiful, the tone and the health of it. Mariah has the most wonderfully dark eyes like black pearls. Because I am so tall 5' 9 and a half I was surprised that she was just under my height with her tall heels. I find her to be, although otherwise noted, about 5'8". She is very full on top and a slim waist perfect long doll legs. At one point when meeting her she stepped out of her limo legs first, she truly should be insured. Her hair is quite fine in person. Mariah has always had a clammy hand when I have touched it and all fans agree she is slim but still soft.

Mariah in person (42,268)
by Martyn from England, UK
| |

|
Interesting question. I've been lucky enough to meet Mariah in person and I just remember being surprised at how tiny she was (in weight, I mean). The media always make it out as though she's "fat" or "chubby", when in fact, she has an incredibly small waist. But the main thing I noticed is how warm and wonderful she was, and how much time she made for the fans. She signed my t-shirt and had a little chat with me, and although I found it difficult to respond because I was shaking so much, she was just incredible. So genuine and sweet.

Favorite/least favorite covers (42,267)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
Favourite album covers : Musicbox (She looks so beautiful, with the Monroe-ish vibe, I think I read somewhere that the cover was inspired by Marilyn.) Butterfly (The one with her eyes closed, so innocent yet sultry, just like the album.) TEOM (I love that she has that amazing powerful stance thing going. I'm the queen and I'm fabulous so move over.) E=MC2 (It's sexy and classy, although she's nude, it's not that visible so that's good. It's like a second black and white version of TEOM, which is fitting since its kinda the sequel to TEOM.) Least favourite abum covers: Charmbracelet, Rainbow Favourite single covers: Dreamlover, AYNAF, ABMB, Honey (I can't get over how gorgeous she looks, and that amazing hair flip), Heartbreaker, WBT, TAOLG.

Album title (42,266)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
Ugh I sincerely hope that's not the album title. While I agree with the person who said Mariah has proven herself already and has nothing to prove and may just choose to not release the album (I will be terribly sad but hey, Mariah's happiness comes first), however if she does choose to release the album as planned, I definitely hope that's not the title. Just "Mermaid" should be fine, if that's the theme she wants to keep. But Mermaid In Disguise? Does that even make sense? I saw a lot of posts asking why Mariah had 3 different versions of her on the MOAIA cover, I think Mariah confirmed it was because she wanted the cover to reflect the variety of emotions that the songs in the album portrays, I don't mind 3 of her on the cover, although the shadows and body proportions were unreal, but it's fine, I hope this time she goes for a more matured sexy cover, she is so beautiful she doesn't need much to look good.

I don't get it. You're Mine is a great song and it's slowly but surely climbing the charts. IMO, it's her best song/single since Touch My Body with the exception of #Beautiful. BTW, I love the video. Stop hating. I hated Triumphant but didn't log on and complain about it daily. Triumphant was a flop.

I got "confidential" word that the album will be called Mermaid In Disguise and am wondering if anyone else here have heard about this. I personally hope this is not true. That title just crosses the border into self parody and people will make fun of it.

Great post. I feel the same way. It seems many of the fans forget that Mariah's "been there done that and then some". Many speak of her as if she's debuted it 05'. Mariah will always be regarded as one of the best female artist/vocalist that ever lived, no matter what at this point. Everything else is just a bonus or icing on the cake sort to speak. Don't get me wrong, I think it's great that the lambily is still passionate about her career and relevancy, but in the big scheme of things she could retire now and still have her legacy in tact. I agree with the fans that says Mariah has never had a bad album, so I don't expect this one to be any different. I just hope it sees the light of day, but if it doesn't then it's doesn't really matter because Mariah has fulfilled her destiny and deserves to just enjoy the fruits of her labor and bass in her the love and stability of her personal life with her husband and dem babies.

Mariah's voice / new era (42,261)
by NYHotShotta from USA
| |
|
|
Well Mariah has said she's always had vocal nodules put she learned to sing through them. I think she needs to put down the wine and champagne and get her mother to retrain her voice so she could stop depending on vocal tracks so much. As for this era, I really hope her album is solid especially since it's been pushed back so many times. I have a good feeling about her collabo with Q-Tip and her songs with JD and Bryan Michael Cox are usually great. But so for the promo for this album has been lackluster, Mariah needs to really promote this like she did with TEOM.

A not so bad new era (42,260)
by Matthew from USA
| |
|
|
It's interesting to contrast the tone on this board with the tone of Mariah's social media streams. On the fan site, there is so much worrying, stress, and gloom. On Mariah's site there is just so much giddy happiness and smiles in almost every message posted. I'm not sure what to think about this, but it's definitely interesting that the fans and MC seem to be in two totally different places right now. At the end of the day, I'm happy that she is happy. It wasn't always this way. I remember when the music was her life. She was unlucky in love and felt betrayed by friends but she topped the charts repeatedly. Today, Mariah is married with two kids and it seems like Rihanna and Katy are the ones flying around the globe, doing interviews everywhere, and having tons of success in everything but their personal lives. And that's the catch, isn't it? The price of chart domination is having no personal life, just flights and interviews and your entourage. Mariah has been there and done that and left a record of chart domination that is still unbroken. So maybe we shouldn't be so stressed. Maybe this era isn't about flights and chart domination. Maybe this era is about taking her sweet time to make music because well, because she loves it. Maybe it's the beginning of an often delayed, but not so bad new era.

Personal management (42,259)
by Darryle from USA
| |
|
|
Has anyone notcied that almost all of Mariah's management has been someone close to her that she was friends with. She needs to stop that because it almost always backfires because that person never says no to her. The only one that kind of worked was Tommy and that failed when they separated. Randy didn't work and Jermaine isn't working. The best one was Benny Medina. They weren't friends so she wasn't comfortable so he did what was best not what she wanted. Does anyone know why she fired Benny Medina? He gets fired from like everybody he manages. Brandy, JLO, Mariah, Usher.

The business aspect (42,257)
by Marissa from USA
| |
|
|
Ok you guys are scaring me now because some of you are confirming my fears. This era definitely feels tragic to me and I'm not even talking about the music, but the business aspect of things. I feel like Mariah and IDJ are at the end of their road. I just wonder what other label Mariah would get on if this doesn't work out. I can't imagine her going back to any of her old labels, so it will be interesting to see what will happen next. I really want Mariah to work with people who are going to get the job done. Forget friends. Mariah does not want to get out of her comfort zone in any way, and that's not good business sense at this point. Total comfort and commercial success cannot coexist. First Randy Jackson as her manager (I don't think anyone was feeling this business move), now JD. Sometimes you may have to work with a person where there's nothing more to your relationship than business, which would be perfect for her at this point. Mariah has to learn to separate business from personal in order to protect her legacy because there are newcomers whose eras have been way tighter than this. I definitely think Mariah needs structure and having strictly business relationships would help give her that.

New album era worries (42,256)
by MissunderstoodAngel from United states
| |
|
|
I'm so worried that this album is going to be worse than the Memoirs era. Notice I said worse. Memoirs wasn't a bad album at all. The era though was horrible. Her image/ensemble was sloppy. She did very little live promotion, and management completely over looked her with very little promo. That album had some much potential. The title was a big no, too long and unnecessary. "Imperfect" or "Memoirs" itself would of sufficed. Remember, one worded titles are in again and generally sell more. The cover was incredibly boring and didn't really look like an album cover. At that, the middle image would have been enough. She needs to put more work in the presentation of her album covers. Some graphics and color are desperately needed. What gets me is Mariah is no new comer to the scene. She should know how to market and sell an item by now. Why she doesn't do so, I have no idea. Good move though and changing the title of TAOLG. I'm sorry but that flow of words is just nonsense and way too cheesy. So far singles have not been good with the exception of TAOLG. I'm worried. The material doesn't seem like it's going to be good. You're Mine was so basic and uniform, no differentiation what so ever with the song, just kept you waiting for a climax or something about the song to grab on to. She seems careless again like with Memoirs.

I did have to laugh that your message about being censored was censored, haha. Sorry. In other news, I'm sort of anxious that this album may turn into another Angels Advocate. I hope Mariah does something for her birthday (sorry, anniversary of being 12) like she usually does. Even if it's just the title or a snippet from a track, or even the release of Thirsty. That would be great.

That's right, Leona's album is a perfect example. The most annoying part is, IDJ are failing to realise that an album can actually sell without the aid of a massive hit single. Sometimes it is possible to sell an album based on a few strong singles and clever album promotion. Just look at J Cole's Born Sinner album. There was no hit single off of that, but he shifted some very respectable numbers, and achieved a number one album. Unfortunately for Mariah, that ship has probably sailed. The buzz she had in 2012 and 2013 is now gone. To think, Summer 2012 was when the album was due to be released, off of the back of Triumphant, and now fans and casual listeners have been waiting for nearly 2 years since that point. It's not a good look, and her momentum has gone. The signs are promising for Mariah releasing a stellar body of work, but whether it will see the light of day or have the impact it deserves, remains to be seen.

The Memoirs album cover you thought of would actually be really cute. It would be perfect if on the other side of her was her again like in the actual album cover but with a broken halo/wings to show that she's imperfect.

State of Mariah's voice (42,251)
by Darryle from USA
| |
|
|
Mariah's voice is really on/off all the time now. Sometimes she's on her A game, other times she doesn't even have game. There are so many reasons why. Some say she got vocal nodules which would suck, let's hope not. [censored] But really it's probably a bit of all of them. Mariah can improve her voice a lot if she takes care of it. All she has to do is sing in her mid/lower register more instead of busting a whistle and belt in every song, [censored] and finally vocal rest. Unfortunately if Mariah has got vocal nodules. There would be no real way to fix it. If she does have it she's probably really scared because she'd only have 2 options. 1. Have surgery and get them removed which could kill her voice and she'd be like Julie Andrews. 2. Keep them and deal the best she can. Whatever the problem is I hope she can get it fixed because I'd hate for her to go out known for lip syncing everything.
