Favorite / least favorite covers (42,249) by RadChad from United States
Favorite album covers: Emotions and TEOM toss up. Emotions was high energy album so being caught in a throwing her hair back moment was very fitting. TEOM: The cover says it all she was ready to reclaim her throne and that she did.
Least favorite album cover: Rainbow and Memoirs. She looked gorgeous and perfect like a doll, but I thought it was oversexualized (booty cheeks) and a tid bit tacky at the time. Lol. It's pretty modest by today's standards though. Memoirs: Would've been cute if it was only the middle picture and she wore a more stylish longer form-fitting satin white dress with angle wings and a halo. Lol.

Should've been singles (42,248) by RadChad from United States
Mariah Carey: Vanishing
Emotions: To Be Around You: Would've been a perfect closing single.
Music Box: The right choices were made even though the whole album is a gem.
Merry Christmas: All good choices again whole album an epic gem.
Daydream: Personally would've loved to have seen a video for Long Ago, but the right choices were made.
Butterfly: I wish Butterfly and Breakdown would've been properly released and promoted, she would've been at 20 now.
Rainbow: Bliss, I envison her walking through a tropical rainforest much like the cover of "Can't Take That Away" with butterflies, rainbows, and unicorns greeting her as she becomes one with natural. Lol.
Glitter: Didn't Mean To Turn You On with an epic 80's style throwback video, would've turned that album around even though the real fans know it was epic in the first place.
Charmbraclet: The One and Subtle Invitation would've been nice to see a video for and hear on radio.
TEOM: Great choices, but Mine Again and Circles would've just had this album at 20 million by now.
E=MC2: Migrate ofcourse, was actually looking forward to a video and all.
Memoirs: Betcha Gon Know, Inseparable, It's A Wrap, and Candy Bling would've turn this album around. So slept on imo.
Merry Christmas II You: I just want to see her do a video for The First Noel consumed with Roc and Roe moments, I've always felt like this song has a huge spirtual connection with them.

Stepehen / concern (42,247) by Edward from USA
Stephen, my biggest concern is that maybe a great album will go by unnoticed for all these delays. I have brought the Leona Lewis Glassheart album case here several times. She delayed her album for a whole year, and eventually ended up releasing a solid album, with some of the songs also in acoustic versions as a bonus, but it was too late, since people had gotten tired of waiting, expectations deflated, and the album flipped and flopped. #Beautiful was a new and fresh sound for Mariah, yet things weren't ready and what looked to be a promising era, turned into a disaster. The problem with cooking a last minute single is that there is not much time to produce quality remixes and promote properly. I miss the days when a single and its respective remixes were ready to be released all at once. When the lead single already established the name of forthcoming album it was coming from. Things have changed, I guess.

Release date (42,246) by enwar00 from usa
I don't really get what some people are saying. Label won't release it unless there's a hit single preceding it, so that it sells and hits high. And since there isn't a hit single right now, they will push it back. But if they push it back, people will be inconvenienced and won't but it. So what would be the purpose of pushing it back then?

Singles by KaizenOcean (42,245) by Jay from USA
Maybe KaizenOcean meant those singles should have been released in the order he listed them. I don't think that Bye Bye should have been a single. It doesn't sound like a radio friendly song. Migrate of course. I can only imagine if they would have given it the dance remix treatment with resung vocals. I remember when she performed it on SNL and she was on the Ryan Seacrest radio show the next day/week and she said she wasn't happy with the performance. I wonder if any of the dance remixes from the Memoirs album would have been released, if it would have done well on the radio. I was very upset when IDJ scrapped the "Mariah Carey vs Jump Smokers" album. I remember the interviews Jump Smokers were doing while remixing the album and how excited they were to be working with Mariah. Also, very upset about Angels Advocate. Breakdown, also a very wise move had they released it. Lyrically, that song is amazing. It just flows so well. The whole Butterfly album is fantastic. My favorite album by far. From Glitter, a very underrated album for sure, I would have loved for Last Night A DJ Saved My Life to have been released. My favorite performance was on the VH1 Fashion Awards. Of course, the remixes would have been stellar. Especailly if David Morales would have gotten his hands on it. And the video for it was cute. And I thought I was the only one that wanted Now That I Know released as a single. I was so excited when she performed it on tour.

Album possibly pushed back again (42,244) by Alex from England
I'll be disappointed as hell as I was the first couple of times it happened. But I feel sorry for Mariah the most because she is the one who has to come out and make up excuses for the general public when IDJ are the ones who decide when/if to release the album. Us lambs know that there is something wrong and I think we should be a bit more supportive of Mariah and show her that we are still here and know that this is not her fault. Yes, her voice has changed, yes she lipsynchs way too much, yes I'd like a bit more creativity when it comes to videos; that being said, I just wish her the best and I know she must be the first to be aware of the state of her vocals and how it probably affects her overall confidence as a live singer. Anyway, if IDJ pushes back that album again, I swear I'll lose it lol.

Edward (42,243) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
Edward, I hadn't thought of it like that, but you're spot on. Mariah probably has little control over that at this stage. If it gets delayed at this stage, they might as well agree to a mutual termination of her contract. It clearly isn't working.

Release date (42,241) by G.G. from USA
I will be so mad if she and or IDJ delays the album again. She's been working on this album for what, 4 or 5 years? That is plenty of time to create a great album. Something we are unaware of is going on, either with Mariah or the label or a combination of the two. The album was supposed to be released July 2013. If she pushes it back again, that'll be an entire year delay. I'm a little worried but I'm trying to stay optimistic.

Edward and Mus (42,240) by Randy from USA
I completely agree with both of you and to be honest, I do believe the album is going to be pushed back at this point. But what the hell is she gonna tell us? She can't say "I was waiting for it to be heard the way it should be heard, chronically my full journey." She's already used that. She can't say "Right now things aren't going well in my professional life right now" like she did with Rainbow because IDJ could then sue her for a number of things. Listen, in the 90s Mariah was a machine. She released an album a year, for the most part. We've been waiting since September of 2009 for a studio (non-holiday) album. She has already gone through a release date disappointment. She hasn't been honest about a number of things throughout the years and she doesn't have to be; she's a human being before an artist. This is so frustrating though. She has die-hards and how the hell are we supposed to be sticking around for an album that is taking her back to high school? Mirage. (Only the old fans know that reference lol.)

Edward (42,239) by Musti from UK
I agree, it is entirely up to IDJ. I bet they regret not releasing the album on 7.23 when #Beautiful was still fairly popular, as YME hasn't had the desired effect. I think Mariah hasn't been happy with IDJ since E=MC2, with Migrate not being relased and all. Especially after Memoirs I think Mariah has been just dying to get the hell out of there. Perhaps that's why she released MCIIY when she did because you're not really expected to produce hits out of a Christmas album so she treated it like a "filler" album. I'm not calling the album itself a filler. Only in relation to the number of albums she has left under her contract. If this is her last album with IDJ, I'm sure they want her to cash in big bucks before she leaves. It must be clear to them at this stage that she is leaving after this album. I just hope they don't push her to do things she doesn't want to do just so she can get a hit.

Album covers (42,238) by Musti from UK
My top 2. Best:
#1's - Is it just me or does her posture itself here looks like the number 1, with her right arm sticking out? In any event, there is so much confidence and beauty in that photo.
Butterfly - Especially the cover on the limited Japanese edition, which is the photo featured at the back on the regular version. That's what I call emancipation.
Worst:
Glitter - I'm not even sure what it is. Maybe too much glitter?
Memoirs - Way too much boobage for my taste.

IDJ / release date / album needs a hit (42,237) by Edward from USA
IDJ is definitely looking for a hit to carry this album. Mariah doesn't have a say about when the album will be released, it is something more about when would have a better chance at succeeding. If IDJ doesn't think it is a good business move, they won't go ahead with it. The only thing Mariah can do is having her music ready and on point. The way things are, I don't put my hopes on any release date. Only if Mariah have at least a moderate hit like #Beautiful, this album will see the light of day this year. I'm worried because the album might actually turn out to be a gem, but with all these inconveniences, it might fall flat on the charts. People's attention span fluctuates about every minute now. I am still hoping for the best. They are looking for a hit, and they're going to get it even if she has to collaborate with any current pop star, mark my words.

Songs that should have been singles (42,236) by John from USA
Mariah Carey: I agree with the single choices here. But "Prisoner" and "You Need Me" come to mind.
Emotions: "Til The End of Time" and "You're So Cold".
Music Box: "Now That I Know".
Merry Christmas: I wish they pushed her versions of "O Holy Night" and "Christmas Baby Please Come Home" more.
Daydream: I pretty much agree with single choices, but I
wonder how "I Am Free" would have done.
Butterfly: This one's easy. "Breakdown" and "The Roof" (in the USA).
#1s: Wish she promoted her version of "Do You Know When You're Going To" more.
Rainbow: "TGIFY" killed this album. "X-Girlfriend" needed to be the second single. Great song for its time, still love it now.
Glitter: "Loverboy" was the right first single, but "Last Night a DJ" or "All My Life" should've been next.
Charmbracelet: Not many viable "singles" from this album. "I Only Wanted" did deserve a chance, and I'm glad they tried with "Bringin on the Heartbreak".
TEOM: I agree with the single choices.
E=MC2: My blood still boils to think about "Migrate" not being the follow-up to "TMB". That was her 19th number 1. "For The Record" would've been good too.
Memoirs: Not many good "singles" after "Obsessed." I wish "It's a Wrap" with Mary J got released. I think it would've crossed over to Pop.

Another delay? (42,235) by Ryan from U.S.
Her album date has been taken off All Access. Said 5-6, now nothing.

Andy, Breakdown (42,234) by B from USA
That verse is my favorite part of the song. I think I've met my soulmate.
(Wednesday 19 March 2014; 16:59)
Breakdown promotions (42,231) by andy from philippines
Breakdown didn't get enough promotion since Mariah had a conflict with her label during that time due to her transition. I read in wiki that she really wanted to make the #1's album as the album with her most favorite and personal songs, not just her most commercially successful songs. She tried to include Breakdown, Underneath The Stars and The Roof, also Whenever You Call, but only Whenever You Call made the cut and the rest the label didn't allowed it or rejected it.

Singles (42,230) by Bill from the UK
On the main I've agreed with the singles the respective record companies chose to release. The only real regret I have is that Breakdown never got its time in the spotlight. It was by far and away one of her greatest compositions from all aspects (melody, lyrics, mood, the inclusion of Bone Thugs, the staccato singing style), and was really the backbone of the Butterfly album. That, and The Roof for similar reasons. I know they had limited releases around the world though. I remember hearing how The Roof was due as the third single from Butterfly in the UK, but was pulled as it wasn't felt it suited her UK audience. Explains the long gap until My All came out as a single.

Re: Should have been the singles by KaizenOcean (42,229) by Webmaster Eric from the Netherlands
Is it just me, or are most of these "should have been the singles" actually released as singles?

Stephen / Edward (42,228) by Bill from the UK
Stephen, I was at work and snuck in a sneaky check of the message board and literally lol'd myself half to death at you putting on TAOLG and then abruptly switching to Daydream. Absolutely hilarious, I could just picture you doing that and it's the sort of thing I'd do too haha. I forgot Without You as a favourite single cover. She looks absolutely gorgeous in that shot, and so sad. I get what you're saying Edward but it did make me laugh that for weeks everyone's been bad mouthing Mariah and giving her career advice (didn't realise so many of the posters here worked in the industry lol) and then as soon as somebody else does a war breaks out.

Should have been the singles (42,227) by Loris from Italy
Mariah Carey: Vision Of Love, Someday, Vanishing, I Don't Wanna Cry, All In Your Mind (the whistle register)
Emotions: You're So Cold (would have been an amazing lead single), Can't Let Go, Emotions, If It's Over (very uplifting), Make It Happen
Music Box: Dreamlover, Anytime You Need A Friend (they had to release it as the second single not the fourth, since its gospel influence is perfectly coherent with her previous albums), Hero, Without You, Music Box
Merry Christmas: AIWFCIY, Miss You Most, Holy Night
Daydream: Fantasy, One Sweet Day, Underneath The Stars, Always Be My Baby, Long Ago (would have highlight better the modern r&b components in the album)
Butterfly: Honey, My all, The Roof (her best video of all time, lyrics are also superbe), Babydoll (utterly sensual), Breakdown, Butterfly
Rainbow: Heartbreaker, How Much, Thank God I Found You, Crybaby, X-Girlfriend, Bliss (very Minnie Riperton-inspired astounding classic)
Charmbracelet: Clown, Bringin' On The Heartbreak, Through The Rain, Yours
The Emancipation Of Mimi: It's Like That, We Belong Together, Shake It Off, Circles (a must), Don't Forget About Us
E=MC2: Migrate, Touch My Body, Cruise Control, For The Record
Memoirs: H.A.T.E.U. (should have had a wintry clip), Obsessed
New album: #Beautiful, The Art Of Letting Go (with revised lyrics)
Above all, Slipping Away should have been included in the album and released as a single. Unforgivable mistake.

B from USA (Breakdown) (42,226) by andy from philippines
And the second verse of Breakdown is so painful and something that you can relate. "So what do you do when somebody you're devoted to suddenly just stops loving you and it seems they haven't got a clue of the pain that rejection is putting you through." Just a total heartbreak. Plus, her look in thee music video is classic, her hairdo is awesome too.

Re (42,169) by Mimi L., fave album covers (42,225) by Terna from Nigeria
I'm glad you liked it, you know someone had to say it, just as "a brief little reminder to help them remember". Sound familiar? Lol.
(Wednesday 19 March 2014; 14:53)
Singles (42,223) by B from USA
1. Prisoner
2. So Cold
3. Just To Hold You Once Again
4. Long Ago / Melt Away
5. ExGirlfriend
6. Lead the way
7. The One (with resung vocals)
8. So Lonely / One & Only
9. Side Effects / I'm That Chick / Thanx 4 Nothin
10. Candy Bling / Standing O
If any of these had been chosen as singles instead of some of the others, MC would have surpassed The Beatles.

May 6th (42,222) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
Does anyone think that Mariah will release an album on May 6th? The longer she spends in the Bahamas, finishing the album (which she has been finishing since 2011), the more dubious I am getting. As much as I want her to release an album on May 6th, I'm not certain that Mariah will have everything that needs to have in place to push the album. Hopefully, she can release it on May 6th, irrespective of how well it does, finish her contract with IDJ, and get on with her career elsewhere.
