This sums up my problem with MC's lyrics these days (39,810) by B from USA
From a review of We Belong Together: There's no tired "I tried to 2-way you" retorts, no trash-technology love affair "I was at the grocery store and this guy had the same ring tone as you, and I cried." No, there's a classic sensibility to the lyrics and sound.

High note (39,809) by Lee from UK
In my original post on this song, after listening to it on Facebook, I said it could do with a high note. Looks like I was right.

Differences (39,808) by Lee from UK
It took me a couple of listens to figure it out, but the main difference between the two versions is in the part near the big climax where Mariah sings "Letting go..." and then it is immediately repeated "Letting go..." And the backing singers go "bop, bop". Well the vocals here are slightly lower on the Facebook version and on the iTunes version they are higher. But the main difference is that on the proper final version on iTunes, Mariah includes a high note during the climax in the background. This is missing on the Facebook version.

TAOLG part II (39,807) by Carol from Spain
Unlike many, I think it's a big deal to post the wrong version of TAOLG. Not for me, but for her, as an artist and being a person that likes to control every aspect of her work, i understand it's a big deal. Yes, the nuances are very small, but she had a vision to show us the song and it got screwed up but God knows who. I wouldn't like to be the engineer or the person that gave her the news, but I guess I would also crawled up on the floor too if my vision got disturbed by incompetence. Either way, I like both versions. Yet again, here it is another token of Mimi's artistry: she could just let it go and put the right version on the album and don't mention the slip, but she wants us to know what's going on every step of the way. Mariah is always the best.

Version 1 vs version 2 (39,806) by R&B Junkie from Poland
For some people the differences aren't clear, but for those who are on the higher level of musical sensitivity they are evident. It's the same with files of mp3 or wav format. The latter is considered to be professional. Mp3s have lower quality of dynamics. 90% of listeners don't get that, but it's the way it is. If you want to have an eargasm with Mariah songs, go and listen to her CDS or, if using computer, turn CD tracks into wav format.

Facebook message (39,805) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
That message was a little OTT. Even I'm starting to question whether all is well in the land of Mariah. Perhaps I'm wrong, and totally misreading things, but I don't think there's defo something up. What it is, is anyone's guess.

Breakdown part II (39,804) by Will from Australia
Ok her TRL episode was completely nuts but Fallon is a close second, even he seemed uncomfortable and kept calling her crazy in an awkward way. On another note, revealing to the world that she's lying on her bathroom floor at 3.30am and ranting about what is really the smallest of differences in the songs versions doesn't seem peculiar at all.

I like it (39,803) by Sasha from Nomansland
The more I listen to it the more I like it ! Actually it's a really good song, I had it playing in my mind the whole day. I guess it's a good sign.

Version 2 (39,802) by Will from England
Yeah, that "brand new sound engineer" won't be getting another job for a while. And to be honest, I only hear slight differences between the two. But I guess for Mariah, they must be huge differences.

Fan ambush on JF (39,801) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
I forgot to mention in the last post how much I loved the fan surprise. I watched it this morning on my way out, and it put a huge smile on my face. For an ambush, it really felt genuine. Some of the reactions were priceless, she sounded great. Of course it's edited for TV ect. I enjoy her collabs with Jimmy, they've been so fun.

Jimmy Fallon (39,799) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
The dress was not flattering o her in the least. She was certainly eccentric and silly during the interview, but this was no where near TRL IMO. On TRL it was clear something was wrong. This was just light night entertainment, Mariah style. As for TAOLG being about a specific person, I get the feeling she drew from a bunch of experiences emotionally, and the song isn't really about a single person as "letting go" of things that aren't really serving you, is something we do repeatedly as humans. My .02 cents.

The real Art of Letting Go version 2 (39,798) by Licia from USA
Oh my, I'm just now reading Mariah's Facebook post and she is pissed. I would hate to be the person who posted the wrong version of the song. I can hear a slight difference in the two versions of the song, but the second version does seem more finished.

Mariah on Fallon/Angie (39,797) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
She gave the audience crazy Mariah. That's what people want from her, and that's what they get. Admittedly, I found it awkward and a tad boring to watch, but Mariah knows what she's doing in these interviews. Did anyone get the impression on Angie that perhaps all is not well behind the scenes with Mariah though? I think TAOLG is a dig at the record company, as well as a previous relationship with either Mark Sudack or Luis Miguel. I'd like to think Tommy is no longer worth writing about. Also, I felt she was being ever so slightly negative regarding Nick. Maybe I'm wrong, but the positivity I have seen in recent years just wasn't there. Not saying there's anything in it. All marriages require work and are not always as fun as they once were.

Edward (39,796) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
You did say that, I remember clearly lol. I agree, I think she realises that at this point, fast food hits are not going to satisfy the fans that have kept her a star for 23 years. I also think she's going for a more A/C audience, which is long overdue. They are the people who buy records. Buble sells tons of albums. Appearing with him on his show is a great way of showcasing her more mature artistry. Whether that gives her a hit album or single, I don't know, nor do I care. At this point good music is what matters. Sure, I'd love Mariah to have a hit album or single, but it doesn't matter when she's been there and done that. She has loyal fans who want more than E=MC2 or MOAIA had to offer. As much as I liked MOAIA, it's definitely time for a change in direction from Mariah. This album appears to be shaping up to do that. I'm very excited about the Nas collabo. Imagine if she gave us something along the lines of If I Ruled The World or Cherry Wine?

Will, Fallon (39,795) by Elena from The Netherlands
I got the same impression of Mariah rambling on like she did in her Glitter era. However I don't believe she's not ok mentally, I think she just has this showbiz persona that comes on every time she's on the spot. I believe she's much more at ease privately. You can tell how real she is by her lyrics. The Angie Martinez interview was much better I gotta say, and she spoke openly about her insecurity, so that might have something to do with it. Anyway, as for now, we know from those interviews that the album is probably scheduled for February and that dem babies will be on the record. I would love to hear some more about the collaborations with R. Kelly and Stevie though. They are only talking about Nas being on the record!

Mariah on Fallon (39,794) by Stacey from USA
MC was all over the place, but she wasnt loopy like when she surprised Carson on TRL. C'mon, nothing compares to that TRL performance. She was not in a good place. My only criticism is that outfit. Oh my! Loose the fan, lol. Other then that, her tangents make for good TV.

[...] (39,793) by Orkun from The Netherlands
It makes me very sad to say this, but she looks seriously drunk on both interviews she gave on Fallon and the other interview she just gave. I do not see any focus on anything. I felt like I was watching her infamous drunk speech on YouTube. I cant believe it's all happening. Now I am confident to say that she is the boss of everything. Single choices, songs, clips, management etc. Enough of blaming promotion, managers, Nick, bad earplugs, not enough voice rest etc. Im sorry. I am truly so disapointed. This is a mess. My heart breaks to see her like this. She is [...] my lifesaver. All I write is musicwise. In her private life, of course she can live as she wants. And proudly, of course. My point is not about Mariah, the person. Its about music. Dont let it all fade away.

The teaser that never was (39,792) by Edward from USA
According to Mariah, the teaser we got to hear on her Facebook page, before TAOLG was released, didn't have anything to do with TAOLG. Now I'm so curious about that song. Mariah high notes were out of this world on it, and the feel of the music was very Buble hence my statement about Mariah taking Buble's direction. I am so excited about this album, E=MC2 was a good yet forgettable album to me, just like Memoirs, but TEOM was not. She's going retro, but not TEOM direction. Duets with R Kelly, Stevie Wonder, Nas, and a possible Whitney's cover. I can't wait.

Stephen, TAOLG review (Inside Scoop) (39,791) by Edward from USA
Stephen, didn't I say Mariah was trying to pull a Buble on us? Confirmation: Mariah is confirmed to be on Buble's Christmas special and she'll sing with him AIFIY. I'm really happy about that. Buble, just like Groban, sells millions of records even when he hasn't had big hit singles on Billboard Hot 100. They sell quality, and artistry. The fact that Mariah is somewhat taking that direction musically makes me very happy. TAOLG has grown on me tremendously, and I love the fact that there are not scratchy or strained vocals on it. Mariah sounded strained on TEOM, especially on Mine Again. TAOLG is flawless vocally with her current voice. I didn't like the intro at first, but now it is ok with me, once she gets into the second verse, she kills it. Mariah is making a statement here, just like Butterfly, TAOLG is Mariah freeing herself from control, pressure, fair-weather friends, expectations, and trends. We wanted something different, we got something different. As I said, I rather she puts out an album with quality music than a whole bunch of poppy songs for the sake of being popular like E=MC2. Whether it becomes popular or not, Mariah is bringing back good music, and I'm happy about that. I want her to be successful, but at this point, I rather have artistry and quality over forgettable #1's.

Negative Nancy's (39,790) by nikki from usa
No, this song isn't for everyone. However, I think there are some overly harsh criticisms due to previously imagined expectations instead of just listening with fresh ears. The way she's singing it sounds more like the freestyle jazz she did at the Carlyle - especially with that "flinging my world around" part. I think that's innovative (the freestyle, I mean). There are some great lyrics in here too. "Your words were merely lies, reverberating in my ears, and the echo won't subside." I don't know anyone who's been through a rough break up (teens) or divorce who wouldn't be able to relate to this. I think this song has sales potential. "Can't do this like MC" was in Don't Forget About Us. It doesn't matter that she said "Mimi" in this - people will just put their own name there or sing "me". I don't think this will go to the top of the charts, but then I thought the same thing about Touch My Body. I'm still shocked Womanizer was a #1 hit. That song didn't even have lyrics. I'm loving this R&B/Jazz fusion with full voice. For those that don't, I'm sure there will be plenty on the album you do like since MC is known for mixing it up.

People magazine released a 90's edition (39,789) by nikki from usa
Mariah. Wasn't. Mentioned. Once. There were ode's to Celine Dion, Whitney, pop tarts who came out in '99, even a section for J.Lo, but not Mariah. There was a small section entitled the Decade of Madonna, however that only mentioned 2 movies, a single tour, and an appearance on Lettermen. The woman who had a #1 every year, actually got the Artist of the Decade award, sold 100 million copies that decade, longest running single, most albums sold in a single week, owned half the #1 debuts that ever happened in the history of Billboard, and countless other record breaking feats, isn't mentioned at all. Mariah and Luther, Whitney, Boyz II Men, Babyface, and Allure. Mariah was 90's music, the inventor of Hip Pop, the reason pop music sounds the way it does today is all Mariah. The thing that sucks is the people who didn't last and anyone who was "visual" is called an "innovator", but the one who actually affected the music industry, defined it, remolded it, and ruled it is ignored.

TAOLG (39,788) by B from USA
Her voice is in fine form. She still has her voice. The years of constant singing have flawed her vocals a little but it's more expressive. I love the music and vocals my 'problem with the new single is the lyrics. Not all the lyrics just the verses. I like the chorus. The verses are wordy and clunky.

Fallon (39,787) by Will from Australia
Her appearance on Fallon reminded me of her notorious TRL lollipop appearance with Carson Daly. She seemed nuts and random, I hope she's ok mentally right now. Also her interaction from what I've seen with JD as manager doesn't look positive, she keeps correcting him on what not to say about her etc. and then blasé about what his plans are or when he talks. Delighted she called Minage Satan though lol.

Letting go of bad ensembles (39,786) by Matthew from USA
Mariah, if you are going to wear a barely there dress, then wear it honey. It annoys me when she wears these ensembles, and then she has to fidget and turn to a certain angle and grab a cushion and open a fan to hide herself. It just makes for an uncomfortable moment. If you can't strut confidently in it, then you probably shouldn't wear it. Other than that, Jimmy + Mimi = good times. I loved when she surprised the fans and the snippets we had of her singing live were awesome.
