Dirty lyrics (38,430)
by Courtney from USA
| |
|
|
It's not MC's 14th studio album, it's her 11th. The MTV Unplugged EP and the two Christmas albums don't count as studio albums. As for the album being postponed, so what? It's not that big of a deal, things get postponed all the time. Waiting is a part of life.

Apologies (38,429)
by Anthony Early from Wales
| |
|
|
I feel I owe an apology to Stephen et al who I had a bit of a thing with earlier in the year when defending Mariah. After the, to be quite frank, horrendous handling of one of her best songs in years (which is actually very very popular) I wonder how much more I can defend her. The remix debaccle is embarassing. Right now in the UK, MC has consistently been around the 20-15 mark on iTunes. This is huge for her. One brilliant performance of that song here on a TV show could propel her into the top ten. And don't get me started on how I feel the song could do in the US if she oh I don't know, gave a damn? I can't lie to myself anymore, I fear the best may be behind her in terms of her career. At this point I feel like saying "Thanks for the memories."

Sigh not sure why the tracks released today are called "remixes" (38,428)
by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
| |
|
|
They have the production value of someone mashing mp3's together on YouTube in 15 minutes. I love MC, but I couldn't even listen to the full tracks. What I love about her epic remixes is when she creates an entirely new sound ala My All/Stay Awhile, The Roof, AWBMB etc. This today truly felt like some sort of practical joke or something. Not my cup of tea.

#Hermosa (38,427)
by Gilbert from USA

Wow, I think this is the best track ever. Yea right. First of all, they could've tried to make this a nicer track, but with 2 mixes already out IMO are wack a$$ tracks. The song is turning very, very sloppy. I don't know what MC is thinking or what is going on with this track, but if this is all that she has to offer, then I'm not even worried about her album being delayed anymore, because as of right now with these two tracks, I don't even feel like I'm looking forward to her album anymore.

Hermosa no es muy hermosa (38,426)
by Lee from UK
| |
|
|
I do enjoy it when Mariah sings in Spanish, I adore "Mi Todo". This was the mix I was looking forward to. I don't know what I was expecting from the Spanglish remix, but it wasn't what I just listened to. I thought it would have had different music, maybe just very acoustic with just a guitar. I don't know if it is because I am hearing these mixes on YouTube, but the production sounds bloody awful on these remixes, almost as though my 10 year-old nephew did it on his laptop.

Hi, I wish that you wouldn't be so quick to criticize those who have a negative opinion. It's only temporary, everyone will be positive once we get some definite news on the album. Mariah fans are very quick to try to stifle each other's opinions, because they are blunt. People have a right to express how they feel about their favorite artist, no one here is getting a check from Mariah. Let people feel the way they want, you don't have to refer to a disappointed fan as a "Debbie Downer". Just my two cents. You don't like what people say, skip over it.

Remix (38,423)
by Orkun from The Netherlands
| |
|
|
This remix is an insult. Period. We already know how the dance remix is gonna sound like and with which beat. Correct me if I'm wrong. It's probably gonna have the Butterfly intro beat of the dance version. The Spanglish version is the only version I'm waiting for. Truly disappointed.

Mariah's music today (38,422)
by Robby from Chicago USA
| |
|
|
I wonder if Mariah still cares about the charts and all that. Otherwise, she could have done an extra mile to promote the single and say, I will work my ass off to get this record to # 1. But I can sense that it's no longer her priority. While being popular and relevant is so important in the music business, I think for her, it is like, "been there, done that". I just want to enjoy her music and the joy and happiness it brought me since day 1. To me, as a fan, it does not matter if it becomes another # 1 or not. At the end of day, I just want to hear a music from her that can carry me through difficult times. But then again, there is a business that goes behind making a record and having to sell it for the purpose of making a lot of money, tons of money so the record company will be extremely happy.

Album scrapped, tour unlikely (38,421)
by Brad from USA
| |
|
|
Hi fellow lambs. I do look forward to the forthcoming remixes of #Beautiful because I know there is bound to be one that I will enjoy and say to myself, "Now why didn't Mariah just do this in the first place?" Nonetheless, from what I have read, heard and interpreted from Mariah's own tweets about upcoming events, it is safe to say that the album she delivered this month for release has been totally scrapped and it is likely that the world tour will be axed between now and the fall. As someone else suggested, perhaps she will take time for herself and her family and come back strong with a clear vision, concept and execution in a year or so. Be well.

Chase / How do you solve a problem like Mariah? (38,420)
by John from USA
| |
|
|
I agree with you Chase. If she doesn't get it together, I too will be getting off this train. An artist of her caliber, with her lengendary experience, should know what organized promo is like. I read an article (I think it was 411) that speculated why the album was delayed, and they said they believe that Mariah wants to keep singing hip hop and acting like a rapper (which I believe is true), and that the album doesn't have a solid number of great songs. I think there's truth to this. Mariah seems to be obsessed with doing awful hip hop music (Triumphant, Beautiful remix, etc). And whenever she does release a good pop/R&B song (original version of Beautiful/Almost Home), she's nowhere to be found. I mean, if E=MC2 has taught us anything, promotion and solid single choices are key. She needs to do age appropriate music and videos. I honestly believe the general public and radio will welcome her if she does an album of Daydream's caliber, but she seems so damn stuck on making the same music with a thousand rappers over and over. If the The Art Of Letting Go sucks, I'm done. I can only defend her so much.

#Ugly (38,419)
by Jono from USA

Best word to describe the remix of #Beautiful. That being said, I hope the dance remix is good like Triumphant's dance version. I just think that this remix was pointless and did absolutely nothing for the song - if anything it probably ruined the quality of this track. I understand Mariah loves her hip hop, but she needs to stop trying to make it happen.

Meriweatherc86 and #Beautiful (38,418)
by enwar00 from usa

I agree with you in your last post. I'm thinking they're appealing to fans of A$AP Rocky with it. It'll get some extra exposure, maybe streams, downloads, and that's the goal. Now there's four more coming, which may have the same affect, maybe on different audiences. I don't think the promo for this single has been bad. That's just my opinion. It's been consistent and the song is performing the same way on the charts. Speaking of charts, since that's the most important thing not if you like a song, it can still go back up. All it takes is people clicking this week for it to shoot up on Billboard next week. Plenty of songs go up down up.

Situation (38,417)
by Chase from USA
| |
|
|
Like many of you, I did not even finish the remix. #Beautiful itself is a good song, and now it's also a wasted opportunity. It won't be leading an album, it has been poorly and infrequently performed, promotion has been virtually non-existent, and the video and remixes represent how complacent and frustrating Mariah's output has become. I will continue to support Mariah if she truly gets into fresh, creative mode like she did for every new album of the 1990s and for The Emancipation Of Mimi in 2005. Since that release, it's been lazy, bland mode for her. Don't get me wrong; I mean it when I say Mariah's music has changed my life and remains in heavy rotation. I've given her the benefit of the doubt for nearly a decade of disappointment. At some point, she either needs to get it together, or I'm getting off the train.

[...] (38,416)
by George Golden from UK

Mariah, why? This Hip hop BS is just getting too much. That remix is total rubbish. Why is she so bent on acting and making this kind of music. It's so frustrating. Beautiful is an amazing song which would have gotten to number one, then we had a bizare video that's gearing towards soft porn, which just let the song down. Then those bikini pics of the "remix video". [...] With Mariah it's pretty easy. [...] all those guest artists, come up with an album of piano ballads, uptempo party songs and inspirational songs. She has the voice for an amazing album. At this stage she shouldn't be looking for number one singles, she should be aiming for more number one albums. [...] you are not twenty anymore, it's time to [... ] of this [...] acts in your videos. Please. We are so involved as your fans, because we know you can do so much better than this.

I'm just thinking about everything (38,415)
by clueey23 from USA

|

Okay so Nick isn't worth 100M, but I'm still like how everyone hates this remix. It's kinda sad the way folk actually think the song has peaked and it's the end of her career. It's sad. I heard the remix on the radio this morning. It sounds good on the radio. It has brought new attention to the record. If I'm reading right, the other remixes will have resung vocals. I'm excited. People nowadays just are such Debbie Downers. But I do agree that the album should've been finished before releasing #Beautiful. I agree the whole thing seems disorganized. I think back to the first album on this label, Charmbracelet, and the beginning was great promo with the MTV special and then it went left when instead of releasing "The One" they released "Boy" which at the time was so stale because that was Cam'Ron's biggest hit at the time. Fail. Then "TEOM" came, great promo and everything. And then "E=MC2" came out the gate great. And then instead of "Migrate" they released "Bye Bye" and since then everything has been in question. It can only get better from here, right?

Jaker20 / now I'm getting nervous (38,414)
by John from USA
| |
|

I agree with you 100%. It appears that Beautiful has peaked at #15, as it fell one spot to #16 this week. I honestly think we could have had a top 10 hit if she would do a proper performance of the song. I don't understand Mariah sometimes. As an artist who once was able to make each album release an event, she sure is unorganized. If I were her, I wouldn't have released Beautiful until the entire album was done. That way I could focus entirely on promo (radio interviews, tv interviews, live performances, etc) to help boost the performance of the lead single. I'm still holding out hope that the BET performance and remixes (which I'm hearing aren't that great) may help us get a Top 10. But hey, remember It's Like That only made #16, but it served the purpose of getting radio to warm up to her again. But damn. I really wanted Beautiful to be a top 10. I hope it can still happen.

Why can't MC do a proper performance of #Beautiful (38,413)
by jaker20 from US
| |
|
|
Why is it so difficult? Can we have at least one good performance of this song before it goes away? Which I think is inevitable given the floppiness of the promo. Why can't she do an acapella version of the song, sing it on a TV show, like she did with Fallon. Her part in the song is so short, so that shouldn't be so difficult right? There's so many remixes and covers of the song on YouTube that is bare and simple. Why can't she do that? We've established that its a great song, so I'm not really comprehending the sloppiness of her promo of this amazing song. Guys, for the first time ever, I'm really so confused.

That is beyond, as in beyond disaster. Did Nick Cannon remix this fail? It sounds like something my niece remixed on his Samsung phone. I'm sad how sloppy she is becoming. Do you want to hear a proper remix? YouTube Craig Yopp cover remix #Beautiful to see a proper minimalist remix. Why. Can't. MC. Do. Something. Like. That? Why? It's so simple. As they say: KISS. Keep it simple stupid.

Not my cup of tea. Anyway, I found this acoustic cover version on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8RQWQIS8H1U I would love it if MC and Miguel made a version like this. Simple, no layers, just pure voices and a few instruments.

Insulting (38,410)

That remix is insulting not only to the original version but more so to the fans. When is Mariah going to learn, you can't stick an unknown rapper on to the beginning of a song, have him grunt and make strange noises for the rest of the track and call it a remix. What is going on? I thought Mariah had grown out of this type of shoddy production.

After reading all your reactions, I'm not even going to try and listen to this. I always get mad when MC ruins an awesome song with an out of place rapper. It proves nothing and nobody buys it. by Stacey from USA

My thought is, why set a release date when you clearly know you aren't going to be ready. Taking your time is one thing (I get that) vs. setting a date then pushing it back. The latter just looks bad. I am in no way defending how Sony personally treated Mariah, but from a business standpoint, when she was there promotion and release dates were on point. Ever since she joined IDJ, the only era where that same precision occurred was with TEOM and the beginning of E=MC2. And the remix? I couldn't even take more than a few rap lines. The guest rapper joint is not my thing. IMO, it ruins a perfectly good song. I guess I should be happy the rapper is on the remix this time, lol. As with others, I'm moving onto the re-sung vocals. I didn't care for the original Triumphant song, but the remix dance track with new vocals was pretty good. BTW: The Showbiz article was on point. Couldn't have said it better myself.
