RadChad / Stacey (38,198)
by Stephen from London, United Kingdom

RadChad, I really like your last post, and how you expressed yourself. I totally agree with what you've said, with the exception of your point on her legacy. For us lambs, we can always look at her old performances, and you're right, we know that nobody can touch that voice when it was at its best, but for casual fans/listeners, they don't think so much of yesterday, but in the here and now, and quite easily slag her off. I've heard my friends, who as casual fans, have been out off by her voice in recent years. Nevertheless, you are totally spot on, just because the chick he referred to has a voice in better condition, it doesn't mean she's a better singer. She's not. Not even close. She'll be nobody in 2 months. Stacey hit the nail on the head, and she's right, I'm just gonna ignore such a comment. At the end of the day the show is flopping in the UK, so it's not hard to figure out why he's trying to draw attention to himself and his act. On a side note, I don't rate him as a producer. I think he's his own biggest fan. His music is just generic EDM crap to me.

Will.I.Am slams MC (38,197)
by Stacey from USA
| |
|
|
When a person slams someone with MC's resume (18 #1 hits, #1 albums, countless top 10 hits, over 200 million records sold, etc), it's simply jealousy. Pure jealousy. While artists may come close to tying MC's 18 #1 hits, no one will ever come close to selling as many records as Mariah. Chalk it up to jealousy and move on. He's not worth any more of my time.

People like to obsess over MC's body parts, but tend to zoom in so much they don't notice the rest of her. Mariah gained over 30 lbs between '97 and '99. Implants make your boobs bigger, but not the rest of you. Renee Zelewegger gained the same amount of weight to play Bridget Jones and her boobs, along with the rest of her, were huge. After Renee lost the weight, she went back to her stick figure boobless self. Mariah was a stick figure when she came out, she gained a healthier weight which enhanced her assets, but because she kept covered, no one paid any mind. Mariah Carey is a C cup. For those of us who have her 2003 calendar or are familiar with the pics taken in the Philipinnes and especially those of her topless with her dog on the beach from 2008 would notice Mariah isn't all that busty. She has natural tear drop shaped breasts. She discovered push up bras and gel fillers while photographers discovered photoshop. As someone who spent years in the cleavage department, let me tell you. There are pushups you can wear with gel fillers that take up the majority of the cup. Only a quarter of the boob will actually fit in there, so the rest of your breasts are smashed to the chest creating huge swells. It looks like your cup size has doubled. The only downfall is increased chance of "nip slip" as the areolas are right on the verge of the fabric.

Mariah's voice (38,194)
by John from USA
| |
|
|
When Mariah first broke through into the scene with VOL, I knew I would be a fan for for life. I used to say (okay, more like brag to others): the only limit to what Mariah can do with her voice is her imagination. While that may not be the case anymore these days, we will always have her best vocal performances during her prime.

Mariah's legacy / what's his face (38,193)
by RadChad from United States
| |
|
|
I wouldn't say she's losing respect for her voice, because if you know who Mariah is, you can always go back down memory lane and see what she was capable of in her prime. Much like Whitney Houston is still considered arguably the best female voice of all time, despite her vocal decline. I will say people may or have taken notice the of decline though, they have ears just like us, but it just doesn't necessarily mean they don't respect or remember her legacy as one of the top vocalist. As far as the comment Will.i.am made, it was very unnecessary, he's not in any place to come for MC's current vocal condition. And that girl is okay, she's not the phenomenon Mariah was, so I doubt Mariah would want to sound like her. Just because her voice is in better condition, doesn't mean she's a better singer. Mariah would probably just want her nodules to disappear and for her voice to not be so sensitive, so she can still have her voice in top notch condition while still being able to enjoy life.

Will.i.am (38,192)
by Jenny from South Africa

I'm so disappointed in Will.i.am. I didn't expect this from him. How can he compare a 20 year old to a 43 year old who's been singing so much since she was 18. It's such a joke. Maybe he's bitter the song he produced with Mariah never made it onto The Emancipation Of Mimi. The Black Eyed Peas aren't exactly the best sounding act when they perform live. I always cringe when I see them try. They sound great on radio and that's it. And his solo career hasn't exactly been some amazing success. I had such respect for him though, before this unnecessary comment. If he really wanted to say something, he could have phrased it in a more respectful manner. Mariah has earned respect after such a long and successful career.

Album cover / Loverboy (38,191)
by Bill from the UK
| |
|
|
If I could redo an album cover, it would be #1's. Some promo adverts had a different cover, a shot of Mariah from what seemed like the same photoshoot that produced the single cover for The Roof. It was much better in my opinion. #1's extended her ankles to make her legs look longer and it looks ridiculous. As for Loverboy, I love the video, it is one of my favourites. Every shot looks like a photograph. I love the bright colours against the cobalt blue sky and the racing cars. Just brilliant.

Will wishes he was Kanye (38,190)
by Anonymous from

Will is trying to stay relevant by courting controversy. He is always trying to knock on people who are more talented than he is. He should just go away. Fergie is the star of The Black Eyed Peas, not him. And she can't sing. He's working with Britney and Kesha and he's going to disrespect a living legend.

Boob job (38,189)
by Lyric from USA

Yeah, I don't see why this is still discussed when it's obvious she has implants, and it's been obvious since 1999. She was practically flat-chested when she debuted. Fans shouldn't be in denial, it's not like plastic surgery makes Mariah a bad person or tarnishes her image. She's not the first and she won't be the last.

Will.i.am slams Mariah on The Voice (38,188)
by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
| |
|
|
Will.i.am more or less slammed Mariah on the UK version of The Voice last night. He basically said that if Mariah heard this particular contest sing, she'd be like "darn, I wish I could sing lik that". The girl he referred to has a good voice. She's no Mariah though. She has no vocal tone, and her whistles sound more like very high falsetto notes than whistles. They are ugly ones at that. The sad fact is tough, the girls voice is probably better than Mariah's in its current shape. I think the world is taking note of the state of Mariah's voice, and that she's seriously losing some respect for her voice. These comments wouldn't have been made a few years ago. Despite this, I still think Will had some cheek to say that about Mariah on live TV. Has anyone heard Fergie from BEP try to bust a note live? She sounds like she's giving birth. I'm just saying.

Gilbert / Mariah's boobs (38,187)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
Gilbert, I used to defend Mariah and her naive theory of push-up bras, but looking closely at some pictures with less than a year apart that I was just in plain denial. By the time Rainbow came out, Mariah had grew new boobies, good for her. My sister had made a comment about her implants and I told her about the the push-up bras theory, and she told me sarcastically that when Mariah discloses where to find those bras and the name, she would get a few of them. My sister is a fan. I don't see anything wrong with women getting a good pair of boobs, if it lifts their self esteem, good for them. I don't defend Mariah about her boobies anymore, I just enjoy them, that's why she got them. Besides, most artists even younger than her have had some tweaking here and there.

Gilbert (38,185)
by Stephen from London, United Kingdom

Mariah's best friend is her airbrush. I'd assume any difference in size is likely to be attributed to that and some padding. I'm not sure where this topic has come from, but whilst it's your prerogative to bring up any topic you want on this board, I find it a tad redundant to bring up something that has been discussed a million times over since like 1999. Mariah's been defending her body image for a long time, and quite frankly, I hate seeing topics like this on a fan message board. It's not healthy for Mariah, her fans, or women in general.

Redo album cover (38,184)
by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
| |
|
|
For me, the MOAIA album cover has to be her worst. It looks cheap and amateurish. It also seems to lack any direction. Mariah should have stuck to the white colour scheme, but kept it simpler, with a more poignant pose, and a nicer outfit. I'm sure she'll do much better with this album cover. She and her new team seem to be getting more right since the release of #Beautiful.

Okay, just based on fans opinions, did Mariah get a boob job? I always had her back with people who liked to twist my arm about that, because I remember when I've met her I don't recall seen them look so big as we see on pictures. Do you think they are enhanced? Or she really did have work done? Also thank you to those who answered the album question. I've always just be curious if anyone else could change an album cover what it would be.

Loverboy / Obsessed / Stacey (38,182)
by Stephen from London, United Kingdom

I'm not a huge fan of the Loverboy song. I like it, but I don't love it. I think the lack of a coherent chorus is what annoys me. However, as a visual, I love the video. It's fun. If you're going to do a fun, summer video, with no choreography, then that's how you should do it. Re Obsessed, I love the song and video lol. I totally agree with you regarding the formula Stacey. It worked before, and I think if the music is on point, then it will work again.

That response gave me a laugh. thank you. That cover was all wrong. Bad shadows and bad Photoshop. Her chee chee's grow 3 different sizes with each pose. If she had a pic with just a relaxed look and her eyes closed, that would've been perfect. Because that album can put you to sleep.

I agree that a video with a storyline is necessary for her next video. The sex kitten is played out, and more funny than sexy at this point in her career. I was just saying that I'd hate for her to try to mimic these younger artists, like Aguilera did with Bionic. That's all. It seems that you think the same. We're obviously on the same wavelength lol.

Redo album cover (38,179)
by Blake from USA

My choice would have to be Memoirs. I loved the white packaging and magazine insert with reworking her debut images, but the triple layered Mariah with her sugar tits hanging out was not fitting for the music. It was too arrogant in my opinion. I agree, I hope this album will be a short title. I vote for "Lambily", dedicated to the lambs around the globe. Lol.

Loverboy/Obsessed, single choice (38,178)
by Stacey from USA

Loverboy is a good song with a fun vibe, but that video? That was a total "what the crap was that" moment for me, lol. A part of me feels bad for saying that, because MC was not healthy during that time. I do love the video for Obsessed. She totally poked fun at Eminem and could deny the video had nothing to do with him at the same time. Brilliant. Anyway, the second single doesn't need to be like WBT or some kind of knock-off to be successful. It just needs to be radio friendly, something the masses can appeal to, whether it's upbeat or a ballad. Know what I mean? I'm talking about the formula that worked for TEOM. It's the same formula that can work for the new album. #Beautiful is doing well, creating lots of good buzz for the new album. Now she's got to wow us with that ultra-important second single. Keep the momentum going so that when the album drops, it flies up the charts too. Well said, Stephen.

JD was the one who commented on a banger track he and Mariah had worked on. He said he was sure that fans would love it. Mariah and JD produced two great tracks together (ABMB and WBT). The problem comes when they try too hard to recreate them, then we end up with We Belong Together wannabe's like Angels Cry and I Stay In Love, good songs but never close to the former two. I think a not so quiet ballad would do as the second single. People call Rolling In The Deep a ballad. It seems to be that the definition of a ballad has changed with time. That wasn't a ballad to me all. I hope #Beautiful enters the top 10 in the next couple of weeks.

Album covers (38,176)
by Badr from USA

For the most part, I've always liked Mariah's albums covers. I remember thinking how mysterious she looked on the Daydream cover and sexy on Butterfly and #1's. Rainbow, to me, reflected Mariah's fun side, whereas I enjoyed the simplicity of Charmbracelet. The artwork of TEOM simply surpassed my expectations, and E=MC2 was a vintage version of it. The only cover that seemed, in my opinion, amateurish is MOAIA. The shadows always bothered me, and I gotta say the title is a bit lame and corny, too. I have no problem with Memoirs, but the " Imperfect Angel" part...

For me, the reason Loverboy didn't work was the sample. I would love to hear the original version with the Firecracker sample. That and the timing. Mariah was years ahead of the trend of sampling 80's classics.

Blake, single choices, album title (38,174)

Blake, it's so funny to me that even as fans we disagree sometimes. I loved Loverboy and Obsessed and their accompanying videos. Why Loverboy was not a hit, I have no idea. The sample was hot and so was the vocal and to me it's one of MC's most vibrant videos. In addition, I didn't like the "Firecracker" sample Mottolla ripped off of her so I guess I was the lone one that was shocked when that tanked. Be careful when you guys ask for something fresh, because #Beautiful is fresh and sounds nothing like any other MC record and yet it bores me and many others to tears. I would like to hear, and no one's going to agree with me, a scorching ballad. Something like Beyonce's 1+1 or Melonie Fiona's 4 AM. Of course with MCs lyrical capabilities, it would be light years beyond those two songs. But the production and melody on those two songs are amazing and I'd like that instead of a repeated melody. Have you guys ever heard the instrumentals to Touch My Body or We Belong Together (boring). Finally, I would die of happiness for a one word album title. I know I'm asking/wishing for a lot. MC is more than capable of delivering, so I'll hold my breath.
