BMI Icon Award (36,307) by RibbonB from USA Super huge congratulations to Mariah for getting her BMI Icon Award for songwriting. Last night's ceremony sounds amazing and I really hope it was taped for airing on tv or at least on the web. The tweets from show attendees were amazing with performances of Hero by Fantasia and Anytime You Need a Friend by Karen Clark Sheard that tore the roof off. There were other great performances as well of We Belong Together. Mariah did that and thank God she is getting her due. She wrote them and she sang them and she got the award, as it should be. Managers (36,305) by Stacey from USA The difference with Benny, though, was the guy knew how to tell Mariah "no". He was key during TEOM's succesful run. Mason, well said (36,299). The throwback remix is what people want to hear. They want to hear that voice that's amazed us all for 20+ years, not some song where MC is guest starring on her own record. With TEOM, the whole campaign was built around "the return of the voice". It worked and Mariah delievered a stellar album fans/public were craving. Lee is right. We should give Randy a break before he's had time to work it. However, given the fact he's been a good friend for so long, I wonder if he'll tell MC "no" when she needs to hear it. Know what I mean? All I said was that (36,304) by Lee from USA Clive Davis did not do that great of a job handling Whitney Houston's addiction. He pushed her into doing a world tour that she wasn't ready for and she ended up relapsing. Clive didn't have her back two years ago when she was getting blasted by concertgoers and the press. My point was that we cannot bitch about the people around Mimi and endorse managers that love artists only when they succeed. We should give Randy a shot before screaming for his head. Underneath The Stars (36,303) by Edge McQueen from Philippines I have studied Mariah's discography since I became a lamb in 1995, and for the longest time I still believe that "Underneath The Stars" should have been given a full single treatment in 1996. UTS is a masterpiece, it's Mariah at her best musically, lyrically and vocally. I have been collecting her CD Singles and I am unfortunate that up until now I still don't have a copy of the US Promo CD Single. They are usually the first station to play after 89.1 and it's almost a month now since it's been released. I wonder how is it going in the US. Stephen from London, I could not agree with you more (36,299) by M from USA What I found sad about the NFL is that the fans connected to "Always be my baby" like the old days and not "Triumpfail". But there is a reason behind this. After Adele dominated the charts based on her voice and simple I IV V song structure with easy piano melodies that were beautiful, one would think that Mariah and her people would come back full throttle on just that - the voice! Instead we got a rap song that did not and will not be remembered. What baffles me is her staff, her people, Randy Jackson, how can they continue this single promotion? You can lead a horse (public) to water, but you can't make him drink (or buy). Benny Medina and the woman manager Cyndi? Mariah had Charmbracelet era at least got the job done. Charmbracelet sold 1.2 Million copies in the USA without a hit single. I knew it wasn't going to happen, but this is how I dreamt of the NFL performance: Mariah wearing a NFL jersey, stripped down with no diva antics (fashionable late, no cheesy dancers, no guards to help assist her on any step on the stage and just sing). Mariah needs a touch of reality and one would think get 'em would show her this, but she is too wrapped up in her own world to see how disappointed the fans are. I still support anything she puts out, but damage control needs to be done prior to this new album. Give the people what they want. Enuff said. (Friday 7 September 2012; 2:10)

Clive/Tommy Mariah (36,298) by Ali from USA Clive Davis a reason to blame for Whitney's demise? I think not. Whitney had a bunch of moochers around her, mainly her family, and that freak personal assistant Van Exel or whatever that got rid of the drugs in her hotel room. Only Whitney could get Whitney off of drugs with the proper support and I believe Cissy and Clive were some of that support. Clive I believe was one of the few that never gave up on her, and if it was up to him I am sure he would rather have her alive and healthy with and not able to sing, then gone and dead. Alicia Keys, Jennifer Hudson, Monica, Fantasia all have nothing but praise for him (Kelly Clarkson isn't a fan obviously). I have a lot of respect and admiration for Clive Davis and would love to chop it up with him for a good hour or so about music and the legends he discovered/signed and worked with. I would love if Mariah reached out to him or he to her just to see what he envisions for this stage in her career. I agree, I don't think Tommy is the fix for MC. Because of their personal history working together would be a disaster. He hasn't done anything extraordinary aside from MC, but he did sign Celine Dion, one of the world's most respected and gifted vocalist. (Not a fan of her music, but she is talented. How come he did nothing with Thalia or Lindsey Lohan? Hell, Sony practically threw him out! As for Clive Davis, why would she need someone like the man who destroyed Phyllis Hyman and Whitney Houston? Whitney still had drugs in her system when she died, so clearly Clive Davis did not get her off of drugs. (Friday 7 September 2012; 1:21)

Either is fine if I'm honest, just as long as the material is on point. Maxwell is amazing, and a duet of Cold, Love You, Fistful of Tears, or pretty much anything in his back catalog would work. NFL performance (36,294) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom Triumphant was a joke. The live performance showed why Mariah shouldn't release such tripe. She couldn't perform most of the song because she barely appears in it and the chorus is just not up to it. The song can't be performed live. Mariah should have forgotten about that song from weeks ago. Put it to bed, and never let it be heard in a live setting again. She's lost touch musically, is out of touch with her fans, and needs to get a firm grip of reality. What people want isn't miraculous. It should be easy for someone of Mariah's vocal ability. Her voice can find melody in mumbling someone's name for goodness sake. All she needs is a simple song, well written, where she sings her arse off. She needs to go back to the drawing board. Her older material worked very well. She sang WBT amazingly well. The voice is clearly still there. She just needs to refocus or ultimately, not bother making music for a while. CDC (36,293) by RibbonB from USA You haven't been paying attention, Mariah's managers hang very close with her. Benny was always there and always in pictures and so was Christ Lighty. The time she was in Brazil he was her constant. Randy has always been around first as her music director and over the years he has contributed and now he is part of her management team. I've been tweeting her names of producers I'd love her to work with, but she probably thinks that I am crazy. I'm catching up on Mariah news, and I can already tell he's like a parasite. The BET honors, he was there; the BET awards, he was there; last night, he was there. Suspiciously, he was in all the photographs. This was never the case with Benny Medina or Chris Lighty. All this would be fine if he (Randy) were doing his job properly. But more and more I'm beginning to believe that he is more self serving in his professional relationship with Mariah. LA Reid has also worked extensively with Mariah, and yet he was never the name dropper on X-Factor as Randy Jackson has exhibited himself to be on American Idol. A Princess Diana complex, this is. For years, Diana was thrown into a pool of courtiers whose active duty was to work her dry, without having a single regard for her personal feelings. Sound familiar? I know she wasn't happy with him on a personal level, and while of course it is more important that she is happy in life, music wise, he was the best for her. I'm not saying she needs Tommy in particular, I'm just saying she needs some guidance at this point, because there is no way Tommy Mottola's Mariah would have released her first single as a featured artist. I think she has a lot of yes people around her and she needs someone to come in and say no. I wish John Legend would go back to the way he used to be too. You know, his first two albums. Start playing the piano again. You know, wouldn't it be cool if she did a duet with Maxwell and did the song "Till we become the sun"? I think she would easily fit well in that one. Even his new stuff like the song "Cold". Performance/Jazz performance (36,285) by Nattalie from USA I'm going to let this slide, because I saw her perform for the Angels tour in 2010 and she was amazing. I think Mariah does not pracitice and warm up her vocals like she should for these tv events. But she does for her concerts. I'm convinced. There is no such thing as "losing" your gift, unless you have done drugs, which I believe Mariah has not. But you would have to be on some serious stuff to have completely ruined Mariah's voice. You know? Lol. Anyways, I honestly would have rather watched the Jazz performance, even if it was only for five minutes. That would have been my dream come true to watch Mariah do some Jazz. Her voice was built for any genre, but I think it suites Jazz best with her whisper tone etc. Remember The Wind everyone? (Thursday 6 September 2012; 21:52)

Yesterday's performances - NFL (36,283) by SC from USA Hi guys. So I was there yesterday listening to the whole thing and I have to say that the first 3 songs (TMB, ABMB, and WBT) were great, especially WBT, as she belted out the last note incredibly. I was recording the whole thing and I wasn't standing really close from the stage, but I thought the red umbrella thing was actually funny. I gotta say that when Triumphant came out, I started recording the song, but because I wasn't able to see the background video from where I was standing, I actually stopped recording it as I didn't see Mariah coming out. Well folks, as we all know at this point, it was actually the real performance without her even on stage for the first couple of minutes. I'm sorry, but this is the lead single of her comeback to music after a while. Is this how you want to show yourself to the fans and world? None of it made sense to me and I was very upset after the performance. At the end, it was also rushed and she didn't even say goodbye properly. We need to see better performances.
