So I actually watch mixed-ish and enjoy it every week. I tend to forget about the song and then a few minutes into the show the theme comes on with the song and it's an extra bonus to jam out to.

This is what denial looks like. Textbook denial. It is possible to address reality while celebrating success. If you care for her as a human being, you'd disregard any concern for potentially upsetting other fans to talk about what matters most - her physical health, and while we are not with Mariah 24/7, the pictures, videos and even interviews of her with a "splash" in hand are enough cause for concern. This is something Celine doesn't do. Not even J.Lo.
This is a Mariah message board. You are gonna read something you don't like every now and then, some times more often than usual. Choosing to stay positive and see the good is one thing. But turning a blind eye to something that does warrant concern is the real joke here.

It's absurd how this message board limits what I can say to you. But I just wanna say that her performance was unacceptable.

It's not a joke. Judy Garland was in the midst of a great comeback including winning a Granmy for Best Female Album, and a few years succumbed back into her drug addiction. Shame on you for wanting to be a "yes" man and trying to shame those of us concerned for her well being. You must either be her, her manager, or Stella.

I cannot believe how many messages I am reading about Mariah being an alcoholic. What is wrong with you all? Anyway there are a lot of things that we all wish we could change about Mariah's current situation. Can't we just enjoy the fact that Mariah has had a number one song on the Billboard chart? A feat we never thought she would achieve again? She is in a good place with the public currently. Let's enjoy this.

Unfortunately, Mariah is an alcoholic. My friend is a hostess at a restaurant in Manhattan that Nick and Mariah frequented often during their marriage. She told me that she always felt bad for Nick because every time they'd leave, Mariah was completely inebriated and he would be helping her up to leave and she would always say, "I'm fine, I'm good," and attempt to push him away. She said this happened every time.

I'm sorry about your dad this_is_qhm. Sometimes I forget about how bad it was because I try not to think about it now, but yeah, it was embarrassing too on top of scary and stressful.

We need an uptempo song (92,973)
by MC1989 from Spain

As much as I enjoyed GTFO, Caution, A No No, With You, Giving Me Life or 8th Grade (I love the whole Caution album), I think Mariah should now move out of her comfort zone. That means move from r&b a little bit. I wouldn't like her to go on to EDM or electronic pop, or sound too commercial, but rather move towards a happy pop melody like Fantasy, which is not a fast song but has a lot of rhythm. We need a simple melody in a major chords tone, happy, with a strong beat and a summer vibe. No more We Belong Togethers please (we've had enough with Angels Cry, Inseparable, I Stay In Love, Bye Bye, With You etc). I like those songs but they are WBT replicas, with almost the same structure. I would love her to do a song with less ornaments, less minor tonalities, less background harmonies, less airy sounds, iii- iii- eee ooh in between lines or at the end of the words. Instead, a recognizable chorus (not like in Infinity or In The Mix) like she did in Dreamlover, Fantasy, Always Be My Baby or Beautiful. A catchy uptempo single with a good melody in a major key, so that the the happy sound is easier to achieve.

Alcohol (92,972)
by this_is_qhm from the Philippines

I have huge issues with alcohol. Having a drunkard father has ruined any chance of me ever liking it. I remember coming home from school on pretty much any given schoolday afternoon only to be welcomed by the stench of it from my dad who has downed it at least twice that day. I clearly recall meeting him dragging his steps, wobbling and struggling to stay upright in the sidewalk on his way home, which would have been less mortifying if I weren't with my classmates half of the time it happened. He resisted our countless concerted efforts as a family to kick off the habit, but it was already clear then that we were dealing with addiction. He had an unusually high tolerance for it, and he pushed his body to the limits until it eventually broke. He's been partially paralyzed for a decade now, he doesn't drink anymore and has outlived all of his former drinking mates. It wasn't until high school when my friends had started drinking that I realized the side effects of growing up with an alcoholic. I still struggle to deal with people when they're even slightly intoxicated and am ticked off every time any of my relatives and guests bring alcohol to various occasions.
Alcohol is a liquid drug. Once one loses control of it, it takes control over them. Moderation is key. I don't think Mariah is an alcoholic - yet. But she really has to understand that every unwarranted splash she takes leads her closer to that whilst ruining her already fragile voice bit by bit. Makes me wonder how worse things would be if Demkids weren't around and Stella still was.

Alcohol is the most dangerous drug as it is legally available and is literally everywhere. I have seen in my group of friends the horrible effects of alcohol abuse on kind and gentle people who slowly turn into a mere shadow of their old selves.

Can't Take That Away From Me Friday (92,970)
by Bobby A from United States

Let's make it a "Can't Take That Away From Me" Friday. This song has been heavily on my mind my for the past two days since The Blast story. She is going to make it Through The Rain once again. She has Roc and Roe to protect now. So I can understand why she is fighting this particular lawsuit with all of her might. Have a great Friday everyone.

You're right. She's been acting funny for a while. I just sometimes ignored it hoping it was not as bad as it seemed.
For the record: I don't judge people who drink. I know some people can have a few drinks and it's a fun and relaxing time. I have friends who can do it. It's just when I was little I saw people going from super serious, to fun, to abusive. I read books about alcoholism in middle school and they said some people become alcoholics and others don't and you don't know which one you're going to be. With my family history I was always super terrified. My grandpa was told he was going to die if he didn't stop drinking and he chose to keep drinking. My aunt tried to quit every day for a while but would lose the fight by night time. My dad only stopped because he had an accident and almost died. He was in the hospital for months and vowed to never drink again and to be a better father and husband. He hasn't had a drink since. Honestly, I consider it a miracle and an answered prayer because I never thought I would see him sober. I thought he would die like my grandpa did.
This is my scary take on alcohol. When I grew up I saw that some people could do it without going too far, so if you're one of those people, more power to you. I don't think Mariah is one of those people. I think she has crossed the line and needs the prayers of all of us who pray.

Yup the same here. I think we all hate that pic. It's so weird. I also wonder what they still have about her, all the things. I don't wanna see it, but I also think Mariah should talk a little about it so that they can't "win". I thought that chapter is over.

Indeed Bill. It was cringe-worthy although I did see her sense of humour shine through. Still, not a great move on the PR level. "I am a little. " - "[censored] up." - "Yeah." Yet, her laugh always gets to me.

Yes Bill that was so embarrassing to watch. I live in a wine region and to enjoy one or two classes of good wine is very normal. Of course not every day. But if I had a voice like Mariah I would drink as few as possible. To be on camera not sober during an award winning speech, you must have a little problem. I mean at the afterparty OK, but before? Just no. During the nightmare era it was clear that the clan of the Crustella witch were encouraging her "bad habits". You need real friends who will tell you the truth and more importantly like already mentioned you need to see your problem and want to change it.

Indeed. The thing that annoyed me the most was when she was awarded for her performance in Precious. After all the ridicule for Glitter, she was taken seriously by the industry for her supporting role in the film, and what did she do? Give a drink acceptance speech. It was embarrassing, disrespectful, and it is this people will remember, not her acting.

Dove, thank you for sharing this, it must be not easy to talk about these things.
The problem is that as long as the addicted person doesn't acknowledge their problem, no progress can be made unfortunately. I believe Mariah might be having problems with alcohol abuse for more than a decade now. Combined with a bipolar mental condition this is like riding a speedy train to hell which became quite clear during the Stella era.
Addicts tend to surround themselves with people to are willing to enable their behaviour. Stella exploited this with pleasure because it gave her control over MC.
All of this now bounces back and I really do hope that Mariah understands the wake-up call. I do have the impression that Tanaka is a postive influence on her life yet I don't think Mariah takes 'no' for an answer. As You mentioned, she is pictured with alcoholic beverages all the time, so clearly she sees no harm in her behaviour. Any other celebrity would try to maintain a more "clean" public image if not a perfect one.

The first 3 minutes and a half of this video (if you don't have the patience for the whole thing) is very good and fair observation in my opinion. If only more people, especially some here could be this balanced.

There are alot of photos that I dislike, but like you I absolutely hate this picture. She looks coked out. I bet those people have so much more unflattering things they could show or sell.
She should treat whatever they are holding over her head like she did the bipolar announcement. Don't allow them to tell her story. Once she tells it on her own they will no longer have that ammo to try to hurt her.
