Re: AIWFCIY hitting #1 (91,893) (91,899) by Edward from USA
I completely agree with you. This is the most important #1 Mariah's had, her 16-week record was broken, but she has set some new and more significant ones. Some don't seem to understand the magnitude of "AIWFCIY" hitting #1, this is not your ordinary number one, this is an undeniable #1 that even those who don't like Mariah can't resist. And we are witnessing history in the making.

Mariah is being coherent and gracious on her interviews, the diva attitude is basically gone. They finally invested in a decent video for one of her songs. Let's enjoy the moment.

As for Walter, at this point credits have been given and they're on CD inlays, he's getting paid, but he has to understand that he doesn't sing the damn song. He seems to have "AIWFCIY" vividly emblazoned not only in his wallet but also in his mind, especially at Christmas time.

I had to laugh so hard because of the K-Pop stars. Maxwell would be awesome. I'm also for Mark Ronson. And I still would love a jazz album too. But your're right Special K, for the moment we just should keep celebrating MC's success and more important happy times for her and all the lambs.

Which three eras were turning points (91,897) by Bobby A from United States
I was just thinking about the three eras in MC's in career that were turning points in her career that led to a more focused Mariah Carey on her next album
1. Rainbow - Basically she was like I am done with Sony.
2. Glitter - She returned stronger on Charmbracelet.
3. Me I Am Mariah - She was so done with Def Jam. The weird album title and lack of promotion said it all. After a long break she delivered the Caution.

I think it's purely alphabetical by surname, looking at how YouTube does similar for other songs.

Re: Who hasn't MC collaborated / revisit previous collab (91,889) (91,895) by Aliya from Canada
I love the R&B music Mariah has put out, including her songs with rappers. I love songs like "One and Only" featuring Twista, and "Say Somthin" with Snoop Dogg.

For this reason, if Mariah collaborated with the right rappers, these songs could really be a hit. I would love her to work with rappers like J. Cole. He has a song with Jhene Aiko called "Sparks Will Fly", and I can see Mariah taking on a song like that, only with better vocals of course.

AIWFCIY hitting #1 (91,893) by Special K from USA
You know we as fans really have to sit back, acknowledge, and cherish this moment of AIWFCIY hitting number one on the Billboard charts. It's just insane regarding how many records Mariah has broken with this song hitting number one. This is truly a history making moment that we are experiencing in real time as fans. Mariah is going to tie the Beatles record of 20 number ones hits and will eventually break it with 21 number one hits. All she got to do is collaborate with one of them K Pop artists.

Re: Caution (91,887) (91,892) by We are Lambily from USA
Read closely, the post 91,655 was Caution the song, it sold over 100k, the album sold 500k worldwide.

I agree Mariah should make 2-3 pop songs again. A duet would be everything. After MC16, I need Mariah to write for other artists, girl keep your promise to Jennifer Hudson and write her a ballad.

Wally A listed first (91,891) by T from USA
Why in the credits on YouTube for the new video does Walters name appear first in the writers category? Is that Sony’s way of says no he wrote more of it? Or is that just how it was registered at the very beginning?

Re: Please (91,885) (91,890) by T from USA
I think she loves her babies too much to re-record and change them out right. Even when she re-recorded AIWFCIY on MCIIY she basically kept it exactly the same. I would love a jazz album if she worked with the right people. I would also love an album she completely produces herself but I'm not sure that's possible given that she can't play instruments. So someone will always be in the back ready to take some of the credit. Honestly, she's had so many downs that I wouldn't mind her stopping recording right now and end on this super high. People love her, she's seen as a living legend, why jeopardize that now?

Re: Who hasn't MC collaborated / revisit previous collab (91,884) (91,889) by Special K from USA
Mariah better not do nothing else with Justin Timberlake. I have lost all respect for that dude. JT is a selfish opportunist that can't sing anyways. Remember, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis had him add some vocals on Yours however JT's record label wouldn't release it because they felt Mariah's career was in the tank at the time. Also, the way JT left Janet Jackson hanging, fending for herself after their Superbowl performance fiasco "Boob Gate" was selfish and a slap in the face to Janet. Don't let me get started on the way he disrespected Prince during his recent Superbowl performance. Now, I would love to see Mariah collaborate with Max Martin. I also think Sarah Carpenter would be an awesome collaboration as well. I saw Sarah sing GTFO and she said not only was GTFO the best Mariah Carey song period she felt it was the best song ever. Interesting. Sean Paul is another person I would love too see a collaboration with however the number one singer I would love to see Mariah collaborate with would be Maxwell. Honorable mentions Sam Smith and Tasha Cobbs. Mariah need to catch the spirit.

YouTube Q&A (91,888) by Bill from the UK
So this was great. I laughed out loud when she was talking about the Daydream tour and said, "It was only a ten city tour because back then I wasn't allowed to leave the house. But we've come a long way, we can leave the house now. It's good." Oh Mariah. How I love your wit. Thank you to Fernando for suggesting she releases the Daydream tour to celebrate the anniversary. I could see the cogs turning in her head. The Japan stretch was great but let's face it, Rotterdam and London (which I attended FYI) were incredible.

Caution (91,887) by We are Lambily from USA
It's her most critically acclaimed album yet, the album has been streamed over 400 million times across all streaming services. It's sold 500k ww, it's sold at least 1+ million as a era including the singles. It's not much but it was a r&b album and one of the most successful ones of 2018.

I long for the days where Mariah can release good quality music without us worrying about the charts. If Mariah wanted a #1 album she would've called Drake, Beyoncé and other major artists.

Mark Ronson. I really need a Mark Ronson collabo. I wouldn't be mad at a J Balvin one, either. H.E.R.

Re: Please (91,871) (91,879) (91,885) by Bill from the UK
Adam, thank you. You articulate so well what I can never manage to get across haha. I will always love and support Mariah and her music, and always look forward to new albums from her, whatever the style. If she comes out with Caution 2, Merry Christmas 3, or my longed for jazz standards album (with some MC originals in that style of course - think Christmas In NY), then I'll be happy. Saying that, those gunning for the 20th #1, another Emancipation era, or a big selling album, don't hold you breath if she doesn't change gear with the new record. R&B peppered with hip hop, samples, and guest rappers will be appreciated, and well received across her fan base I'm sure, but she will really need to do something left field to get attention.

By that I mean, imagine if she self-wrote and produced an album single handedly by herself. That would be amazing. She's often expressed her annoyance with how over produced the debut album was. Imagine for the 30th if she re-worked the original tracks, updated it, removed the 80s gloss and stripped it down? Or if she re-sang the songs in a new style? Something like that would be amazing.

Who hasn't MC collaborated / revisit previous collab (91,884) by Bobby A from United States
Pop and Oak
Jasmine Sullivan
Ryan Tedder
Max Martin
Greg Kurstin
London On Da Track
Victoria Monet
Social House-(Ariana Grande)
A1(Chris Brown)
Zedd
Disclosure
Boi 1da
Noah "40" Shebib
Justin Timberlake

I really feel she will be digging deeper with this next album. This may be her last chance at #1 album. She should revisit producers like Pharrell, No Detail, Nineteen 85, Mike Will Made It, Timbaland, Scott Storch, Darryl "DJ" Camper, and for the nostalgia - Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. A major artist like Mariah can't have four low performing albums in row and still remain on a major label. I bet we won't get another album with just 10 songs again. An album with just 10 songs was just not Mariah. I am sure we will get a Drake feature on the next album. And whatever happened to that Bobby Ross Avila song that he kept his son in the studio until the early hours in the morning? I am sure he wasn't too happy his song didn't make Caution.

That was a video with a Russian singer Yulia Nachalova. She died last year. They used to be friends and had recorded an album together. It wasn't nowhere near #metoo.

The song deserves to be a classic but I don't know if the public is ready for another Mariah Christmas song to blow up like. Most people who love Christmas love Mariah's Christmas music.

It's unfair that got a new video when I have been asking for a new video for Oh Santa for years now lol. I'm gonna stream the hell out of it next year, I'm so glad we got to #1 now the lambs can chill and focus on Mariah's other Christmas classics.

Re: Please (91,868) (91,881) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Mariah reserves the right to her story however she wants. The fact that she doesn't always make it a point to consistently acknowledge them is now clearly rooted in whatever differences they have had in the past. And we are not even gonna dare open that can of worms simply because we can't. We still don't know the intricacies of what happened, at least from Mariah's side. Mariah's verbal omission could turn out to be completely justified or completely unreasonable or somewhere between those two extremes. But until we actually hear it, I guess it wouldn't be too much to respect that and reserve our judgments and opinions on what she should or should not do. Who are we to admonish her based on the accounts of two other people without hearing her out first? Should she now apologize to Walter for not using the more correct possessive pronoun "we" when referring to who wrote the song? Can't the "I" refer to the specific parts of the song that she came up with, like someone said on this board earlier? Because that's what I understand from what she says. Maybe Walter should consider that possibility before he yaps and probably also talk about other artists he has worked with other than Mariah. He has done this, to my recollection, at least from what I was able to come across, 3 times now this decade - on his wife's nail salon reality show, the 2014 Billboard interview, and this Variety interview. Doesn't he realize that these are probably part of the reason why he and Mariah still don't have a relationship? His proudest moment as a producer is My Heart Will Go On. Maybe he should talk about that more.

Thanks for sharing this article. Point well taken. I think we can agree this year was an amazing year for Mariah. She seems energized by the new team she has and all the love she has received from the music industry as of late. All the love and accolades she is witnessing unfortunately many of her peers have died before the public showed their affections. I am grateful Mariah is alive and well to receive all this love. Here's hoping 2020 brings another banner year with the new memoir and album. I don't care if she gets another #1. I'm at the point where anything she puts out I always get and respect the quality she puts into it. She's reserved her right to make the music she loves and not for the charts. Having AIWFCIY go #1 is the capstone to a stellar career. We finally got our wish to have this landmark record see #1.

New albums in 2020 (91,877) by Bobby A from United States
I thought new album releases in 2019 were few and boring. So in 2020 we can look forward to Justin Beiber, Selena Gomez, Adele, Rihanna, Sza, Drake, Frank Ocean, Monica, Daley, Maxwell, Brandy, Sam Smith, Normani, Brett Young, Usher, and Justin Timberlake. I know I am missing some others.
