Alexa play queen of Christmas (91,607)
by MusicfanJ from Germany
| |
|
|
Have you seen this? I find it very funny. By the way Monroe looks so much like Mariah. Every year more like MC, so sweet. Rocky is of course sweet too. In a few days: Alexa play the new number one.

AIWFCIY #1 in Norway (91,605)
by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
| |
|
|
AIWFCIY is currently #1 on the Norwegian chart. It's the second consecutive year it hits the top spot, and is the only song of Mariah's that has went to #1 in Norway. Merry Christmas.

A little humour (91,604)
by Warren from Trinidad & Tobago
| |
|

Saw this and thought the board might like it. There was an article on Buzzfeed and while discussing the best Christmas song in the comments a user wrote: "I don't want a lot for Christmas, all I want for Christmas is you." Mariah Carey, queen of shade since back then.

I really enjoyed it. I wish it was longer, but it was still good. Even though it was small, I'm kind of glad she mentioned Walter A. I honestly wasn't expecting her to mention him at all. Regardless of whatever they are beefing about, he was a part of AIWFCIY (don't try to debate me on whether he contributed a little or a lot to the song, that's not my point). Anyway this was the Mariah's World I wanted and I want more. Team Mariah is working extra hard for the 19th #1.

Amazon mini doc and Billboard charts (91,598)
by Jono from USA
| |
|
|
The mini-doc is fantastic, it can be found on YouTube here. The promo she's done for the 25th anniversary of AIWFCIY has been fantastic. Yes as lambs we all know the story behind the creation, but it's good to get it out to the public. Early Billboard predictions are saying she could hit #1 next week, which would be unbelievable considering there's still two tracking weeks before Christmas. Even if she doesn't get it next week, she'll most likely get it by that Christmas week - which incredibly, would give her the last #1 hit of the 2010s decade and the first of the 2020s. After she was ridiculed for her 2014 Rockefeller performance of the song, and her 2016 NYE performance, this would be a full circle moment.

This was so beautiful to watch. When I heard her say Walter A's name, it spoke to me their musical relationship that gave us so many beautiful songs. We are about to experience something beautiful next Monday when AIWFCIS becomes Mariah's 19th Number #1 Hot 100 song. After 25 years, this is going to be amazing for MC. What other artist has a song that resonates with millions of people every year and is a huge hit on the charts every year. Nobody but Mariah Carey. Now MC can we get another Walter A. collaboration in 2020? Randy Jackson make this happen.

Millennials (91,595)
by Matty from Vancouver Canada
| |
|
|
Kaj Mandalia, aren't millennials a huge huge bulk of Mariah's fanbase? (Those born between 1981-1996.) As a millennial born in 1985, I was coming into my musical own during Mariah's massive Butterfly and Rainbow moment, then hitting the club during her Emancipation through to Obsessed Jump Smokers remix eras. Everyone my age grew up listening to Mariah everywhere, singing into their hair brushes while dancing in the mirrors as lip syncing children, and then listening to her bangers in the club. I think you're referring to Gen Z (1997-2012, so roughly 22-7 years old now).

AIWFCIY thesis (91,593)
by Bill from the UK
| |
|
|
I swear I could write a thesis on this song and how good it is. I was listening to the unearthed extended version and who else has noticed this? The first head voice "you" as the song's crescendo is one note (with an embellishment at the end). The next "you" has a little trill at the beginning, making it two notes ending with an embellishment. The next one (the last you hear on the record) has two "trills", then the next one (extended version) has "three". For each "trill" she adds at the beginning of the note, the same amount of bars have passed in the song. She then ends with a straight "you", as per the opening of the outro. Is that not incredible musicianship?

Amazon mini doc (91,591)
by Kaj Mandalia from UK

What a beautiful 11 minutes of this mini doc hearing how a legend wrote a timeless masterpiece. So happy she mentioned Walter A as it gave some hope for a possible reunion in the future (yes me being hopeful). Truly pray this song finally gets the number 1 it so truly deserves so my fellow lambs please lets make it happen. This lady has contributed so much to music these millennials don’t even understand how much. She is a true gift from God. Mariah we lambs salute you.

Oh she's definitely not playing this year. Brilliant step to push the song. I just watched her "Amazon documentary". It made me appreciate the song even more. Although I have a little overdose from all the repeat. Lol. But hey we'll stay festive with the MC and MC2 album.
I wish all of you who are going to her Christmas show a wonderful time. MSG on 13th in New York, that should push AIWFCIY as well.

by B from USA

Mariah isn't playing. For the next day and a half you can purchase an autographed copy of the AIWFCIY CD single which also includes a digital download of AIWFCIY for $5. AIWFCIY is going to #1 next week. Remember to stream and view AIWFCIY repeatedly. We can't let this opportunity pass us by. All I Want For Christmas Is You signed single and digital download will give the song the push it needs to reach #1 and its only available for a day and a half.

Re: Just a streaming tidbit (91,577) (91,586)

Get 30 day free trial of Tidal. Tidal counts for more than other streaming services because they apparently pay more for each song. 49 streams counts as one physical single. I have AIWFCIY as every other song along with my favorite album cuts so maybe those streams can be one day noticed and perhaps included in a tour. I know wishful thinking.

I'm not sure that's how it works. Besides there are at least or 6 versions of the song over the years which includes the live version. So what I do is I create a playlist and loop them because all of them are actually really good specially the new Tokyo and St John. Does live version count? Does anyone know?
