Re: Daydream (88,889) (88,900) by Tyler from USA
While Daydream is a great album (not best) I never understood why people categorize it as her most vocally impressive album. The stand out vocal track on that album is Forever, in which shes' mostly holding long notes. In my opinion, Music Box, Emotions and Butterfly had more stand out vocal tracks. Heck even Glitter.

I love "Obsessed", "Hate U", "Candy bling", "Out of my face" and of course "Standing O" and "Languishing". The lyrics are clever and fun. Some say it's boring, I don't think so. The mood and sound is just completely different to E=MC2. More dreamy and relaxed. A perfect album for autumn or late summer.

MOAIA (88,897) by Tijl from Belgium
I just rediscovered the "Memoirs" album today after a long time of not giving it any attention. "Obsessed" remains fun and I will always love the video, it's just so tongue-in-cheeck. Furthermore Standing O, H.A.T.E.U. (especially the Jump Smokers remix) and Up Out My Face contain great lyric mastery from MC.

Debates (88,893) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
I love these different debates in regards to M's catalog and this is why I respect her and her artistry still today because she has something to satisfy her fan base both young and old and even those in the middle. For the good and bad and everything in between there is only one Mariah Carey and there will never be another. Thank you God and Mariah for the music that you have blessed the world with because it is truly unparalleled.

Re: Final verdict (88,885) (88,890) by Special K from USA
Excuse you sir. On the Emotions album there is plenty of tone "timbre" in Mariah's voice. Songs like Make It Happen, So Blessed, Can't Let Go, To Be Around, but especially LYTTEOT and The Wind, the tone is strong. What emerges in Mariah's voice on the Emotions album is the actual emotion, mood, personality, and intense jarring vocals. You don't hear that in the debut album. Maybe, just maybe in VOL you do. Anyways I agree with Bill regarding Emotions. Definitely top 3 vocal album.

Daydream (88,889) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
What I like about Daydream is the whole package. Her voice was on peak, I don't think it has any bad songs, my favourite deep cut, Underneath the Stars, is on it, the lay out is classy (she is sexy in calssy way on Butterfly, but on Daydream, she is classy in a classy way), it just feels so cohesive, the whole album and the videoes, it's solid work in every way.

Since the Daydream Tour is her best tour, no question about it, the concert in Tokyo Dome is my go to live perpormance whenever I want to enjoy a masterclass in singing.

I became a fan during the Butterfly era, but Daydream has come to be my favourite piece of work by Mariah.

Re: MIAMTEC and Caution (88,863) (88,886) by Stacey from USA
It's ok. You're still a cool chick. So with TOEM, here's the thing. After Charmbracelet, I thought that was where she was going vocally. I was sad. I missed those mid-range vocals. I felt such a let down with amazing lyrics that didn't have the vocals to back them up. So when I got a 7:00 minute track full of snippets of each song, I was floored. I kept thinking gosh, this album feels like Daydream, part 2. I guess that's why I love it. It honestly was hard to pick my top three. I wanted to include Music Box. I first became a fan during that era. Such a unmatched catalogue of hits.

Re: Final verdict (88,880) (88,885) by Andrew from London, UK
You no longer have validity. Mariah Carey and Emotions have very tense vocals; the restriction in tone is evident. Only on Music Box richness of tone emerges. There is a loss of thr jarring edge. On Merry Christmas, well, my old American pan pal from Farmville used to say to me that that was the peak vocally. And it was. Daydream has vocal flex. The belts were missing but the voice was elastic. It is this Mariah, I think, that everyone hears in their head. Daydream as a vocal is magic.

R&B (88,884) by Dove from United States
I mentioned to my husband that I don't like R&B music and he said that half of the albums I own are R&B records so maybe I do like it. Honestly, I just don't know what R&B is.

Re: Playtime (88,881) (88,882) by B from USA
After Memoirs and MIAM Mariah really needed to streamline her next release. Today, it is common for artists to release albums loaded with tons of songs and I'm glad Mariah chose quality over quantity.

Re: Playtime (88,874) (88,881) by Dove from United States
I like the longer albums because we don't get new material from her too often anymore. If we got a new album every year I would have no problem with ten track albums.

Re: Final verdict (88,871) (88,880) by Bill from the UK
Randy Randy Randy. The holy trinity of vocal greatness in my mind are the debut, Emotions, and Merry Christmas. There are some great moments on Daydream but except for Fantasy nothing really packs a punch for me vocally.

Re: Final verdict (88,871) (88,879) by Dove from United States
I think the reason I love MIAM so much is because it sounds like a soundtrack to me. I can picture a story unfolding with it. It could be made into a movie. I connect it with her relationship with Nick (and my relationships before my current husband) so it really gets me in the feels. Listening to it feels like a rollercoaster ride down memory lane. It has a little bit of everything and her voice sounds full and strong.

Re: Playtime (88,874) (88,878) by Bill from the UK
There's probably something in that. Making an album accessible is smart. I know if I want to listen to Charmbracelet end to end with the lyric book in one hand and a glass of red in the other, I have to book the afternoon off work lol.
