Re: Daydream (88,865) (88,877) by Dove from United States
I think for me Daydream stays at the top for sentimental reasons. It has always been my favorite so I guess I'd feel un-loyal if I brought it down. Also, It reminds me of the last time I was completely happy before my depression started. Drunk? Her voice sounds heavenly - what are you talking about?

Vanishing as well.

Re: Final verdict (88,871) (88,875) by B from USA
Thanks. In my opinion great albums are albums where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. I can't believe I forgot that she was the sole producer of Vanishing. I hope I don't get kicked out of the lambily for that one, lol.

Playtime (88,874) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
I was curious how Caution's album playtime compared to previous albums. What's interesting is that MIAMTEC is one of her longest playtimes and then she swings to Caution; her shortest play time (I'm guessing A&R believed a drastically shorter playtime would increase sales and streams).

1. Caution - 38:26
2. Music Box - 42:01
3. Daydream - 46:42
4. Mariah Carey - 46:44
5. Emotions - 47:01
6. TEOM - 50:10
7. Glitter - 51:45
8. E=MC2 - 52:14
9. Rainbow - 55:49
10. Butterfly - 57:19
11. MOAIA - 58:01
12. MIAMTEC - 62:42
13. Charmbracelet - 64:45

It's interesting that MOAIA, MIAMEC and Charmbracelet are seen as Mariah's least popular albums and all three are her longest running playtimes (this judgement on the albums is not my personal opinion, I'm just referring to popular public perception and album reviews from critics, not sales or individual tastes). I guess there's something to "trimming the fat" the ways she did on Caution, as to not dilute the genius of other tracks.

Re: Final verdict (88,871) (88,873) by Gilles from Malta
Hello I am 38 and I would say that I love 4 albums including their remixes if there are. So 1st Butterfly, 2nd The Emancipation of Mimi, 3rd Caution, 4th Me I am Mariah The Elusive Chanteuse. I love the others as well but I played them so much when I was younger that now I like to listen them once in a while. Even if it was Mariah's at her best in her career. I've been loving her even more when she has started making more hip hop and r&b. I got even more interests for her. I can not hide that I would love something with a bit of Jazz and acoustic but it is not the time to ask for it. Bye bye.

I agree, B. Caution is the album I've waited years for Mariah to make.

Final verdict (88,871) by Randy from USA
When you look at MC fans in their 30s, they rank MIAMTEC and Caution near the bottom. It's so interesting to see how we all think so differently. I can't believe someone said Daydream was the beginning of the end of the voice when to me that's when she sounded best. It was Butterfly where her voice started to fray in my opinion. I also can't believe how far down most of you put the debut album. Well, I like Bye Bye and y'all cringe when I say that. B, Mariah is the sole producer on Vanishing and on an interlude or two throughout her catalogue.

Re: The Emancipation of Mimi > E=MC2 (88,864) (88,870) by Dove from United States
I mean, they're both great. I thought I liked E=MC2 a little more but yesterday I listened to TEOM all the way through and I remembered how good it is.

It would've been a great addition to fhe soundtrack. Is Melt Away the only song in her discography that she produced by herself?

Re: Atlantic residency (48,020) (88,866) by B from USA
Maybe I love Caution because its the album I wanted her to make. She worked with the producers that I've been begging her to work with since November 2014 (Bruno's, Drake's, and The Weeknd's (The Stereotypes, Nineteen85 Skrillex, Lido, and Poo Bear) and kept JD's involvement to a minimum.

Daydream (88,865) by Bill from the UK
It's interesting seeing Daydream rank either at the top or bottom of most lists. It was always at the top for me but over time has gradually slid down my ranking. It was a great era, she was at her peak of popularity without a doubt, but when I listen to the album now, it's the first one where her vocals we're noticeably different. Somewhat nasally and strained and her melisma was all broken up. My dad summed it up when I was playing I Am Free one day, and during one of the verses he was like "she sounds like she's drunk".

I'm sorry Stacey and Randy. When you look at the lists there are a lot of similarities. Stacey girl, I have to admit I was a little surprised to see TEOM in your top 3.

Re: Favorite MC songs (88,850) (88,862) by B from USA
Can't Let Go is one of my favorite songs as well. It would've been Mariah's sixth consecutive #1 had Columbia not pulled it to boost sales of Emotions.

Re: MIAMTEC and Caution (88,847) (88,861) by Randy from USA
My feeling is because both albums were recorded at the same time and released around the same time it might have been someone's dream to put it on there. I have no proof, but it sounds a lot like the songs on the second half of Waiting To Exhale. That's all. Again, I have no proof but Whitney said there were people that wanted certain artist to be on the soundtrack and she said no. Circumstantial evidence.

Article: Mariah Carey turns either 49 or 50 today (88,859) by Chicago Lamb from USA
I've been following Mariah's career from day 1. Back in the beginning, her birth year was always 1970. Unless the label lied, so she'd appeal to a younger audience longer.

I wouldn't be surprised if Mariah is 52.

Re: Fly Like a Bird acapella (88,805) (88,855) by Terna from Nigeria
Glad you like it. "Fly Like a Bird" is also one of my absolute favorites off "The Emancipation of Mimi", and in my opinion one of her most powerful vocal performances ever.

I've thought about it some more and you guys are right. The Emancipation of Mimi is better than E=MC2.

I stay in love (88,853) by Dove from United States
I Stay In Love came on (my MC playlist) yesterday and I remembered I cried so many tears listening to that song back in the day. I would play it to bring on the tears because sometimes I tend to harden myself and hold my feelings. I have to remind myself I want to be fully alive and feel all spectrum of feelings. Nothing can unleash them like a great song.
