Special K I think you and I are the two people who bought Glitter in 2001. Seriously though I agree with everything you said. Glitter is a great body of work.

Loosing my English because the album is excellent (85,986)
by Gilles from Malta

Sorry for my last message but I was on a natural Mariah high by listening Caution on Spotify. Wow wow what a beautiful album, it is one of the most artistic album I have heard for a while. (Of course I like other artists but this album Caution incredible. Lyrics are perfects and that's what I'd expected (so great and so metaphoric). Giving me life as I said is out of this world So So Def. Good music lyrics voice atmosphere I felt like a kind of mood transcended me. On Mo Gem is delicious, Portrait is Mariah's Saving Grace, 8th Grade and Staying Long Love are current and good, With You plays on repeat for a long time now, GTFO as well. One of the most innocent and poetic way to say Get the F out she made it sweet because I have never heard anyone say it this. No No are good. Mariah did like that Bone Thug song Breakdown. It means a lot of different layers of her voice that results as hypnotic. An excellent production. Congratulation to Mariah and Mariah's team. She will make the people listen the whole album and not only few songs like I do for some myself. It is very difficult in the 21 century to be able to listen a whole album without skipping tracks, Caution just flows like a nice atmosphere and a nice breeze. Enjoy guys, hoping you feel the same way I feel.

Caution is lit (85,985)

Wow, I am so glad I was saving my opinion of this current era until the full album was released. It's insane how she allowed With You to be released with diamonds such as Giving Me life (that guitar riff is everything), Caution and 8th Grade in her pocket. This album is definitely not for everybody but it will help re-invent our girl. I love this album I am a stan since Emotions era. I think this is what she probably wanted E=MC2 to be. This album is serving justice for Migrate lol. Congrats to us lambs for making Glitter and Mariah having the redemption only suited for icons of her stature. She really is a queen. No one will ever come close to her. Her songwriting and melody arrangements are back and I am so glad she made this album. I was waiting for big vocal moments but there aren't many. This is more radio friendly music with an atmospheric vibe to it. Kudos to M for making a cool, modern and edgy project. Lovesss. Top picks: Caution Portrait Giving Me life The Distance Stay Long Love You

So true. We are all one family united for MC. Sometimes we have our differences about her creative choices. But we come together because Mimi is brilliant and a game changer when she delivers. I told everybody not to worry because Caution is all that we have been asking from her. A very huge and busy week for MC starts tomorrow. One year ago we were so sad about her performances, singles, management and no album. Look at us now. Lol.

"Caution" (85,982)
by Billy from Greece
| |
|

Say what you want, the woman is a genius. I'm super sleepy but I wanted to listen to the album. I'm so proud of her. This is a reinventing album, the way I felt "Emancipation" was. I loved it. Very modern, very cutting-edge. I can see similarities with "E=MC2" but "Caution" is way more adventurous. "Giving Me Life" is her weirdest song to date, not in a bad way, very Prince-esque in fact. I loved the title track and "One Mo'Gen". "Stay Long Love You" is the song I liked the least. "Portrait" is all it promises to be, the moment you look through yourself by having Mariah looking through her own self. Very accomplished work, beat-driven songs. I would say it's more of a "mood" album, if that makes any sense, not necessarily easily replicated live, but I don't care about it now. Bravo Mariah.

No Billy. Hopefully it will chart but I'll take #1 on iTunes and all the media coverage it's getting. Padma (Sylk) even got in on the action on Twitter with a make shift single cover with the title You and Only You and the hashtag justice for glitter. I'm going to listen to it when I get home until Caution drops here in the States at midnight. It's alreay dropped in other countries and lambs are loving the album saying it's her most experimental and Giving Me Life being compared to The Roof. So excited, I will have some wine ready for my listening party.

"Glitter is the last, and I mean the last, great, slap you in your face vocal powerhouse album we will ever get from Mariah." I agree and I wonder if the reception of Glitter is what made Mariah change her mind from making albums like that ever again? I mean, we can never know how she must have felt when an album filled with her sanging was so ridiculed and ill received. Dare I say she's never sung like that again. Maybe it's due to vocal decline, but the Charmbracelet tour proved she still had the Rainbow/Glitter voice and yet she decided to do the opposite on the album. TEOM had shades of it but that might've been producers pushing her more then her own idea of what she wants it to sound like (her fav song on the album is SIO). I honestly think that yes, the vocals are not like they were in the 90's but also she left that style of music also in the 90's. Anyway, congrats to Glitter for finally reaching the pole position.

Wow, I am almost in tears right. I remember when Glitter came out and everyone, including fans dragged the album to pieces. I used to fight so hard for the Glitter. I would get knocked out but get right back up telling everyone how great this album was. I am in heaven right. Never Too Far gets me every time. Glitter is the last, and I mean the last, great, slap you in your face vocal powerhouse album we will ever get from Mariah. Oh my goodness I need some tissue.

Deedre I listened to it in the car this morning to celebrate and was totally feeling it. I'll give it another spin soon. I always say things sound different every few years for me, so it's been sounding fresh again. Lead the Way is my fave, absolutely stunning vocals. Twister gives me Looking In vibes, kind of an offbeat tune, moving. I've talked shit about Never Too Far before, but it's really only Reflections that I skipped. I just don't like it. Happy Glitter Day.

How the f are you guys listening to the album already? I feel so out of the loop right now. 20 years ago I'd be waiting to go to Tower Records at midnight tonight and wait in line to buy the CD. Help.

Yes Billy, most likely. Keep in mind that the Billboard 200 also counts streaming and sales from other sources besides iTunes in their chart, so this doesn't mean Glitter will be #1 next week on the Top 200. I'm anxious to see how high it will go. Irregardless this was a fun week with the ramdom Glitter excitement.

Lambs are the most iconic fanbase eva lol. This is so unexpected. I just saw it now and I thought there's an iTunes glitch and I still don't know what's going on lol. And by the way, I love the album. The movie is awful but the album is a classic, lots of great songs, Loverboy is such a classic bop, the vocals are immaculate. So underrated.

Glitter the album is very underrated in my opinion. I put it on yesterday and had a blast. Love how she made the 80’s sound current, and the album still holds up. Those vocals.
