Mariah replaced herself on this chart this week. Caution debuted at #1 last week, and Merry Christmas is #1 for the first time this week. Crazy right.

Re: Mariah Carey shelved projects (86,849) (86,874)
by DivergentIntel from United States of America

Yes. Angels Advocate is definitely one shelved project that we know about. Angels Advocate is said to not have been released because Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel album underperformed or did not do as well she hoped it would have or should have supposedly. It is also very likely that the Angels Advocate remix album was not released last minute or shelved because of complications with miscarriages and her trying to get pregnant. Notice that she and Nick Cannon tried to get pregnant from the beginning of her marriage and how much of an ordeal she had to deal with and go through just to give birth to Roc and Roe.
There are other shelved projects that Mariah Carey has spoken about or ideas presented that never went through. Mariah Carey was supposed to release some sort of VHS or DVD of Daydream tour to be released in December 1996 or January 1997 in Japan or possibly the USA or worldwide even, but some speculate that such was not released at last minute because it is alleged that Mariah Carey walked out on Tommy Mottola on just shortly before Christmas 1996.
1996 I believe would have been a good year for Mariah Carey to release Evita had she starred in it. Fall 1996 release date for the movie and soundtrack would have been perfect for Mariah Carey. I also believe if Mariah Carey had released an urban influenced or hip hop influenced remixes album in 1996, it would have been a good move, or something to hold or glue fans until she released her 1997 Butterfly album.
I think if Mariah Carey released a Christmas album every 2 years in the 90s, that would have been a good career move too.

Stay Long Love You (86,872)
by Bobby A from United States
| |
|

Anybody digging Stay Long Love You now like me? This my jam number 2 now. Kind of reminds me of a sped up Joy Ride. I am just wondering if Caution is going to give us a different perspective on vinyl. Vinyl always brings out a more studio live recording sound than CD or mp3.

One Mo' Gen and Portrait (86,871)
by anonymous from UK
| |
|
|
One Mo' Gen just seems to get better each and every time I hear it. I loved it from first listen but now it's fast becoming one of my fav MC album tracks ever. I don't know what it is about it that has hooked me so much, but wow. It's actually delicious, if audio can be described as such. Maybe I just need to get laid? Ahem, anyway, moving on.
Portrait is still my fav on the album. Narrowly pushing past One Mo' Gen. Again, not sure why, but it feels kinda sweeping and epic, like a true old school MC song, in the way only she can do old school. Or perhaps not old school, but timeless. The strings are stirring and whereas with her precious introspective songs I felt the pain, this one I can hear or feel (or both) a stoic determination and steadfastness I've not heard from MC before. This whole album, it's almost like I can tell she's in a good place, emotionally and spiritually. I don't feel an emotional dumping, if I can be so ineloquent. I feel more like I'm hearing stories and experiences, as opposed to having using music to expunge herself of hard feelings. In a nutshell, MC is telling us about things, calmly relating, instead of unloading and damn the consequences. Caution as an album is just gorgeous.

Special K this is my jam. As far as I am concerned, the best song on Caution. The vocals are perfect. Reminds me of a high school crush on someone and they are not paying you any attention.

I posted a new pic just for you. To be honest I won't lie my hubby thinks Bryan looks like a little boy. He said I come home to a 16 ounce Tbone steak every night while Mariah goes home to a 2 ounce sirloin. Usually we get into it about me crushing on Dwayne Johnson while he throws Gina Torres up my face.

8th Grade (86,867)
by Dove from United States
| |
|
|
8th Grade reminds me of some of the people on this message board. Especially Andrew and Edward. Portrait too. If she was standing right next to you would you write the negative things you write "limitless with nothing to lose"?
A long time ago (2014/2015) when I used to frequent this message board a lot, either Andrew or Edward said something like, "the sun will rise tomorrow and Mariah will still be here" or something along those lines. I remember it because it was so well written and almost poetic. It was probably Andrew. (At me or someone else because we would get upset when anyone said anything too negative about MC.) That's what came to mind when I heard the line: "Yet I know that tomorrow comes, so I'll be here when you rise."
I had to come back and share my thought. I really think she or someone on her team has visited this site.

Sorry, I missed this. Lol. Anyone who has ever spoken to me will tell you I am quite lovely and quite emotional and erudite. I vent on this board about the nonsense my idol commits to. And opinions about people who do not understand me wash over me. As they should anybody. Demonize me all you like, ha. I'm quite comfortable in my own skin. But I do appreciate your posts. You are quite level headed. I look forward to your comments. Now, anyway... *picks up pitchfork* Let's go, bitches.

Thank you for the message that actually listened to what I was saying and didn't demonize me immediately lol. Genuinely. Cautions first half has a mood and is musically lovely. I must agree with Eddie that With You is stuck in my brain even to this day. It's the latter half I do not like. It feels like one long drone. I felt the same way with Charmbracelet and Memoirs (but the latter record has absurdly outstanding moments). I cannot comprehend what Mariah fans see in this album. Many of the things I love about Mariah are missing. It is what it is. I predicted a summer album and given MC's current mood and brilliant interviews I think she may deliver one. To end on a negative: that recent performance where Mariah wore the long coat and walked the runway and had natural hair and smiled that famous non-fake smile... where has that gone on the Christmas tour? I cannot quite comprehend how she doesn't see that that's what fans want from her. And its so eeeeaaaassssy. She did it. Mariah, get back to work properly.

1.TEOM skip To The Floor and Get Your Number every time. 1a. E=MC2, I hop around filled with hand and 18th number in the timeless TMB. 2. Me I Am Mariah, sad, but poignant. Will have a justice for MIAM moment in ten years. 3. Memoirs, fun songs, too wordy at times. Great vocals. Trying to do too much, but not doing enough. 4. Caution, I love 8th Grade timeless, touching. GML is experimental and creative, great to explore in future projects. Stay Long Love is a radio ready bop. I avoid the first half of this project, boring. Looking forward to A No No remix though.

Caution (86,858)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
Caution is short and sweet with the vocals of Mariah O' the Day, of course. I have the feeling she'll go all out on her next album, hopefully next year. As for considering "Caution" better than "Charmbracelet", if I were to choose based on lyrics, creativity and art overall, I would take "Charmbracelet" over "Caution" any day. Mariah pen game on "Charmbracelet" is great, still poetic and meaninful.

I love that MC's getting some of the best reviews in a long time. In the end it's the music that people will remember. Imo, Caution is her best album since TEOM. I literally don't skip any song, it flows so smoothly.

Like on Daydream, on Caution Mariah's whistles are textured into a lot of the songs, especially in the background.

You're right. "The Angel Cut and Paste" was the only project announced that never saw the light of day. I'm happy it was shelved. That would've been a stain in her recording career.

Andrew, you have to stop telling people about the albums you cherish the most. Those bitch ass folks rate them with 3 stars just to go against you, don't you see? There's an illuminati mole in this board. I hope I used "bitch ass folks" correctly.
