Re: Demi Lovato is a complete idiot (83,311) (83,315) by TJ from Norway
I know the Demi topic isn't Mariahish, if taking drugs is an illness, why doesn't smoking count as an illness?

Re: Demi Lovato is a complete idiot (83,309) (83,314) by Steve from USA
Wow. First off, I'm not sure why you'd post this on a Mariah message board, since it has nothing to do with her. Secondly, what an insensitive statement. I see what people are saying, that we are compassionate with celebrities like Lovato and condemn other addicts. I think we need to move wholesale toward finding ways to help all of these people, rather than move toward wholesale condemnation.
Did every addict make a choice at some point to try the drug that became their issue? Of course. Does everyone who consumes alcohol, or cocaine, or whatever, become an addict? No. Some people are wired differently than others. Some can handle it, and some become hopelessly addicted. In Demi's case, she's got several conditions going on at once - bipolar, bulimia, and the substance issues. She obviously has some deeper issues that manifest themselves in a variety of ways, but we only know what she and her PR team are sharing, and frankly that side of her life is private and none of the public's business. I went back and watched her doc on YouTube, and I think she comes across as well intentioned, and fragile at once. What I think I'm getting at is that we shouldn't be judging anyone for this type of thing, because if someone isn't an addict, then they don't know what a person like Demi, or Whitney, or any number of these high profile people are going through.

I do agree that they all do deserve compassion but yes there has to be accountability too. You are so right that there is discrimination in how it's seen. Not just between celebrities and commoners but between celebrities themselves as well. Whitney was called a "crackhead" whereas Demi is a "broken woman". Why?

Re: Demi Lovato is a complete idiot (83,309) (83,312) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
I wish addiction were as simple as mere impulses that one can control. If that were so then we would have more recovering addicts than addicts themselves. Sure, they should not have tried the damn thing in the first place let alone allow it to progress towards addiction, but the sad thing is that once they already are addicted and are on their way to supposed recovery, they will always be drawn to whatever substance they're addicted to. Self-control is still there, but the instinct of an addict takes over and they relapse. It it selfish, considering how much they affect the lives of those around them. And you're right, they make horrible role-models. With that being said, while I have never been an addict myself, I have seen what addiction does to a person and his/her family. Firsthand as my dad was an alcoholic, so I still sympathize with Demi to a certain extent. What I am not a fan of, though, is how the public reacts to these types of situations depending on who suffers from it. When it happens to be a celebrity, there's this overwhelming outpouring of support from pretty much everyone. But when it's ordinary people involved, then they are considered low-lives who got what they've bargained for. That's what pisses me off.

Where is your compassion for those who may have suffered some type of trauma in their childhood that causes a chemical imbalance that leads to addictions they can't control? We all got something that we are dealing with. However, most of us don't have every aspect of our lives played out on the world stage to be judged by everybody.

Album release and title (83,310) by Ethan from United States
It's probably going to be at the end of the year to make the cut for the Grammys 2020. It'd not be wise to have it released before October 1 for the Grammys 2019 (you know the Grammys will give it to TS or someone else), maybe a single if we're lucky. Yes, I believe she still wants to get that AOTY and ROTY in her lifetime as she's been robbed several times. It doesn't make sense to release a single anytime soon while she's coming back to Las Vegas end of August and going on tour for the hits October/November and AIWFCIY in December. Just remember, most artists record tend to record twice the number of singles that make the final album cut - that's why we have unreleased and b-side tracks. Technically, she just started "working" at the beginning of this year. If she's fully committed, she can turn it around just like she did for E=MC2 and MOAIA - a year apart. On a different topic, as crazy as it sounds, it'd be cool if she names the new album "The Butterfly Returns". It's quite fitting. No more FB/IG posts. Just release it when it's ready. It was stated to be released at the end of last year so let's make it happen by end of this year.

Demi Lovato is a complete idiot (83,309) by Andrew from UK
Her addiction, she says, is an "illness". No, it is not. It is a complete inability to control her own selfish impulses. You shoot up heroine and you are a victim of an illness? You're the victim? So that's what Tomato teaches young children? "Hey kids. Don't exercise self control? Don't worry bout it. You're a victim. Everyone must pity you." What self-serving bullshit. Celebrities, and everyone these days, like to portray themselves as victims. #JLM. Junkies lives matter.

So far (83,308) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
Collaborators for the new album that we know of so far are Poo Bear, JD, B.Cox, Jonta Austin, Sam Romans, No ID and Prince Charlez. On another note word on the street is that we can expect the new single at the end of August or September.

Re: The Hot 100's top artists of all time (83,306) (83,307) by Andrew from UK
The ICON award would be pretty boring if it were awarded according to a predetermined list. You would know the next 2 decades winners now. What would be the point? It must surely take into account current cultural context. I don't agree with the awardings, but that's part of the attraction. The award, I would suggest, was created to attract attention through argument.

It's the same reason why they would she-who-won't-be-named as a Billboard Icon. They are complete dumbasses. Instead of owning their dumbness, they made up some dumb ass method to explain their dumbass list. Madonna and Elton haven't had a #1 hit between them in the last 20 years (give or take a few years).

The Hot 100's top artists of all time (83,305) by B from USA
How did Billboard justify placing Madonna at #2 and Elton at #3 ahead of Elvis and Mariah?

Release strategy (83,304) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
I know many of us at this point are pretty much dying to know details about the new album and its first single, but I for one would not want her to release something unless she's gonna be truly commited towards promoting it, which is to say that there shouldn't be any other major projects on the line to distract her. It's not like she can't juggle multiple ventures and priorities at the same time and sure, she can use her current residency and upcoming tours/concerts to promote it (albeit to a limited audience per show) but I just feel like since she's taking years between releasing albums now, then she might as well prioritize each time she drops one to make it even more worthwhile. The general public slept on the last one, which was her best since TEOM and most entertaining since E=MC2, and this new album doesn't deserve the same response. I'd rather her start the single rollout next year as she seems to already have her plate full for what's left of 2018, not to mention Mariah season is fast approaching and they're probably focusing on how to push for AIWFCIY to chart even higher. What y'all think?

"She's not called that." Yes, she is called that, see the articles I quoted. Whether you like it or not, Mariah's reputation is not that great. End of discussion. (And I mean, end of discussion, so I won't publish any more messages about this topic.)

It does matter whether it's true or not. She's not called that. Tabloid fodder isn't reputable no matter how much you try to use it to validate your own opinions or try to turn it into the status quo.

iHeart Music Festival (83,300) by Bobby A from United States
I really think a new song is going drop ahead of MC's 9/21 iHeart performance. It would be the perfect promotion for a new song. How many think a new song is going to premiere in September?

It's truly ridiculous when you blindly go on a tangent to defend someone and have no clue what you're even defending. Geez. You can be a subjective fan.

"So, articles filled with the words 'rumors' and 'allegedly' is proof of things that happened or were said." No they are not. But that's not what this is about. Dennis asked for proof that Mariah was called "Queen of Petty", I gave him three articles where she was called that. It's not about whether it is true or not. Is this really so hard to understand? It's not rocket science.

Article: Mariah Carey poses with their kids for "Harper's Bazaar" (83,294) by Katrina Brown from USA
Mariah's children always look and dress like children. It shows thar she's a great mother. Even she takes them to any events they still look like kids dressed in beautiful clothes for children. This lamb truly admires your mothering skills. Keep up the work beautiful lady with your beautiful children.

Here's some proof? (83,293) by Nikki from usa
So, articles filled with the words "rumors" and "allegedly" is proof of things that happened or were said. Not to mention, repeatedly referring to Mariah as "petty" throughout the article isn't any sign of bias or sensationalism, but complete objectivity of presenting the facts. Got it.
