Victoria has posted 9 messages, 7 are about Andrew! I think she has a little crush on him.

It seems to me that you are obsessed with Andrew. You tell people to not read his posts, but it seems like you read all of them.

JD was still relevant until 2009 while Walter's relevance ended with Celine's My Heart Will Go On.

Andrew (83,177) by Victoria from USA
Andrew is pretty much to this website what Trump is to the world. You're not loved here so why don't you just fade away already. Im sure J Blo and her acrobatic skills are more to your liking. Trump works for Putin. Question is who is Andrew working for? He comes on a Mariah fansite and obviously hates her. You all though continue to read what he has to say. He needs to be ignored by all of you when he posts something. His face is right there before you click. Everytime I see that face.

The Mariah Walter A saga (83,176) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
What they were able to make together was for a point of time and nothing short of brilliant. Unfortunately we will never experience that magic again because Walter was a Tommy loyalist and during the separation Walter chose to stay with Tommy for contractual responsibilities over Mariah even though she asked him to come with her she felt that him staying with Tommy would be a problem because of Tommy’s controlling ways.

OSD (83,175) by Will from England
Don't know if anyone has seen this yet, but there's a cute video going around of Mariah zoned out during OSD, and misses her cue by a few seconds. You can see her just lost in the music and just listening to it before the realisation hits. Also a great example of her singing live.

Dana Jon Chapelle (83,173) by Hector from Mexico
It would be interesting to talk to Dana Jon Chapelle (Mariah's vocal engineer in the Walter days) even after the break-up with Afanassieff, Dana kept working with Mariah until 2008. Surely he knows the real reasons that led to Mariah's voice deterioration.

Re: The truth about Walter A (83,170) (83,171) by RibbonB from USA
JD is her friend, Walter is not. She kind of likes to vibe with those she works with and she doesn't even trust Walter. That is a ship that has long ago sailed away.

The truth about Walter A (83,170) by T from USA
Does anyone else think that the real reason she will never try it again with Walter Afanasieff is due to her vocal decline? I mean it was reported that Randy Jackson had set up a meeting between herself and Walter and they met but nothing materialized for MIAMTEC. I wonder if a lot of it has to do with her being incredibly self conscience about her voice. I mean the last time he recorded her singing she was doing things like Butterfly, My All and Lead The Way. It can't be that he's "too stale now" because she continues to work with JD after twenty years. Do you think the truth is it's more ego about the voice and less about the past?

Re: Observation: Johnny Gill on Wendy Williams (83,164) (83,167) by CDC from CA
So what exactly does a "decent" Johnny Gill performance have to do with Mariah's sentiments towards, efficiency in or legacy of live performance? Absolutely nothing. You mean that timeline of use is the biggest, gaping factor that alters voice preservation? "If Johnny Gill's first album came out in 19xx, and has been singing since 19xx, he's done xyz concerts, must have opened his larynx xyz times, so why can't Mariah do the same when she's been out much later, sung fewer concerts and therefore hasn't sung as much?" It's funny when people make these elliptical mathematical equations only to sum up a scenario of absurdities. The simple matter of fact is that Johnny Gill (and like Celine, and others) have lived a different lifestyle in their 50 years than Mariah has in hers. And that is the biggest influencer in voice preservation. And the past lifestyle decisions of others are things that us outsiders should just get over and accept. And so if your qualm is that Mariah can't seem to navigate her vocal deterioration (enough to your degree of satisfaction), then improvement is something she owes herself and nobody else. I can explain more critically if you're interested in another long post.

Observation: Johnny Gill on Wendy Williams (83,164) by Randy from USA
So, I'm watching Johnny Gill on Wendy today and he was wearing those hideous ear monitors in each ear. He never once fidgeted with them. He sang Rub You The Right Way from his 1989 album. It was lower and he didn't hit his higher full voice notes but he was on key throughout the verses and modified his ad-libs to match his current voice. He can't dance to save his life but he moved all around the stage. I'm going to go out on a limb and say he's used his voice as much as MC by the simple fact that he was out before her and part of a group before that. He then probably had to tour twice as much as she did because he didn't have the album sales and big contracts like she did in the decades after his debut. So that's how he made money. My point is he did a pretty decent job today without smoke and mirrors and was somewhat entertaining. And my favorite part, when he finished Wendy walked up to him and said "Good job and no lip syncing at all." But let me go ahead and save the delusional posters some time: MC has special nuances in her voice that he can't replicate, MC didn't grow up in church or come from singing in nightclubs, MC is more comfortable in a studio, MC has nodules, MC's ear monitors don't work and she can't hear herself, MC didn't expect to be singing in front of a casket, MC attended the Fresh Air benefit and they were pumping in smoke, MC didn't get enough sleep, MC doesn't sing well in air conditioning, MC was going through a divorce, MC had food poisoning, MC didn't want to try to outsing a legend and MC has stage fright.

A message for B (83,163) by Bill from the UK
B, I've always enjoyed your posts and I know you've always got Mariah's back which is always admirable. But to answer some of your post, yes you're right that plenty of singers lip sync and it is accepted as somewhat of an industry norm, rightly or wrongly. But Celine and Beyoncé can carry a tune in between the lip syncing. I've yet to find any evidence of Mariah doing that in recent years. You say she preserves her voice for the ballads but these are lipped as much as the uptempos, more so when it comes to Hero, My All, Without You, I Still Believe and others. Please direct me to the "incredible live vocals" before and after I Still Believe. I ask sincerely as I haven't seen any and I am genuinely interested and will happily be proved wrong. You're right also that Mariah didn't sing in church or the club circuit like others have, but B, she's had 25 years to get over her stage fright. If she is physically and vocally paralysed when on stage, she shouldn't put herself through that. No one minds that Barbra Streisand or Kate Bush have rarely toured over their long careers. We won't mind if Mariah scales back hers either. She looked very comfortable and confident on the Unplugged, Thanksgiving, and MSG performances, and completely commanded the stage during the Daydream tour. I think we all accept voices change over time. For example, Joni Mitchell's once sweet falsetto is now a husky alto. But she changed her songs and singing style to accommodate the change. If Mariah can take that huge, massive step of revealing her bipolar disorder and be as loved, accepted, and respected as she was beforehand, I guarantee the same will happen if she came clean about how she has lost her voice. There would be no shame from us, simply acceptance and gratitude to her for bringing great music into our lives for so many years. It's the denial, and the extremes she goes to in order to cover this up and mask it, all at the expense of those fans who have loved, adored, and supported her, that will never sit right with me. With respect B.

The best example of shouting out notes rather than singing is "Can't take that away" (in The Butterfly Returns).

Re: JD (83,134) (83,160) by RibbonB from USA
Here's a great live performance and if course den babies from the Hollywood bowl performance. She looked nonchalant, but sounded in good form. I just love ABMB the pre-WBT and DFAU. I hope JD has included Manuel Seal in this latest round of recording, writing sessions. I'm nervous for her with this next project but she is bound to have some gems.

Re: Be nice or leave (83,156) (83,159) by Chicago Lamb from USA
The fact is, Mariah doesn't care what anyone thinks. Honestly though. She broke out on the scene in 1990 and has been booked solid ever since. We have a right to express criticisms, but sometimes some here don't give a fair look to the other side of the coin.

"Lullaby" Can’t Go For That remix? (83,158) by Goob from USA
Hi, new here but been a Mariah fan since her debut. During the CB era there was a fan made remix of "Lullaby" with Hall and Oates' Can't Go for That. Does anyone have it and if so, could you send it to me? This is a long shot. I've googled/youtube'd for years and nothing's come up. Thanks.
