Re: 8th Grade (86,166) (86,187) by george golden from uk
It's my favourite. One of her best songs ever.

4/10 = 2* (86,186) by Andrew from UK
I tried to revisit Caution on a few occasions and see the best in the tracks. Alas, I am truly perplexed as to what many people here are hearing. GTFO, With You, A No No and Portrait all stand out, they are thematically quite different and have decent melodies. That's four good songs out of ten. Four? The other six blend into each other in one long agonising, soporific march toward blandness. MC might be able to reproduce most of this live (seemingly with a vocoder on assist) but who would want to hear it? It may well set the Guinness Record for inducing 20000 comas at once. There are no decent hooks, no memorable lyrics, no standout vocal moments, no exciting instrumentation: it's just a joyless snoozefest. "One Mo Gen"? Favourably comparing anything on Caution to Butterfly is utterly blasphemous and I will have pistols at dawn for any heretic who does so.

Re: Fallon (86,177) (86,184) by 90sMariah from SG
Who cares? She lip synced the hell out of the song that I couldn't even know for sure. That's what I and many of us have wished for that she could pull off a good miming and she did it really well and she didn't embarrass herself. So that's all.

Caution (86,183) by B from USA
I still believe With You was the righ choice as the first single since it's still climbing the R&B and Adult Contemporary charts. I think The Distance should be the second single followed by Giving Me Life and 8th Grade. I have absolutely no complaints about this era, the album, or its rollout. Hoping for a #1 debut on the Billboard 200.

I know after reading that Showbiz 411 review I was sure it wasn't written by Roger but it was and I was floored, lol. Now he's claiming Glitter charting is a hoax or a glitch in the system and will be sorted out.

Re: Fallon (86,177) (86,179) by Licia from USA
RuPaul is a huge fan so I could see him helping. Lol. At least she put some effort into making it look believable. Lipped or not I enjoyed this particular performance better than the one on tour. I believe she sang more on Fallon than she did on the tour one and I definitely know she lipped a lot that night. Lol.

Caution outstanding songs for me (86,178) by Lainsky from Philippines
Excluding the four already out singles, the three songs I would like Mariah to release is 1. Caution - commercially appealing and very relevant, it has the potential to become #1 i.e. if the radio DJs will be fair. 2. Giving Me Life - another standout and a potential hit. 3. Stay Long Love You - good for finale single release for this album. However, Caution really for me is the best single from this album. Hopefully, like Honey and Emotions, this title track make it to No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Yes, I may be a fan since Love Takes Time and I still want to see her on top of the charts. If not, it's totally fine.

Re: 8th Grade (86,166) (86,174) by MusicfanJ from Germany
This song grows on me by every listen. It sounds even a bit like "Daydream Mariah" did a record in 2018. Timbaland never disappoints. I enjoy the whole album more and more.

Re: Portrait (86,153) (86,173) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Robert-Anthony thanks for the reply. Yes, the song is so emotional. I didn't expect it but without it, it wouldn't be a Mariah album. That's true with the voice, even if you just talk you can often hear if a person is going through something. "I reflect everyday on the portrait of my life." Most people do it, I'm sure. It makes us human. But only the intelligent ones reflect from time to time. What I love about Mariah is that she touches so many people's hearts (me included). I wish you a nice day. And keep enjoying Mariah.

I do have to say the bright pink cassette is inspired. How I have missed that format. Pure nostalgia for me as all my Mariah purchases in the 90s were cassettes until Fantasy.

Re: Jimmy Fallon (86,169) (86,170) by Bill from the UK
She lipped 90% of the song, the difference between the pre record and her actual vocals is pretty obvious.

Jimmy Fallon (86,169) by 123 from USA
Was this all live? For once? I was for sure she'd lip the belts like the not so good performances of the song in Asia but this performance was solid. I saw her take a drink of splash that morning in a radio interview and figured she'd lip but she sounded and looked great. There is a lyric video for this song now so they might just decide to push it. It's the most mass appeal song on the album. Would also love A No No as a single as well.

Re: Caution vs MIAMTEC (86,104) (86,168) by 123 from USA
You nailed it right on the head. MIAM had stronger songs with hit potential but it had its fair share of filler that I always skip with badly studio engineered vocals on some songs (OMT, Heavenly, etc). Each song is listenable to on Caution and has no filler. The songs are not as strong but individually and as a whole they work well and leaves you wanting more. Caution is the first album she is getting rave reviews from the critics. Even Rolling Stone gave it 4 out of 5 stars. Happy the critics are finally recognizing her pen game and I keep reading things like fresh when they describe the album. She’s finally being respected by reviewers. Even that Showbiz guy who bashes her at every turn gave a positive review.

Re: Multiple copies (86,149) (86,167) by 123 from USA
I've heard that but doesn't the record company keep track of how many copies it ships to stores, irregardless of how they are rung up at the register? I want the cool vinyl (blue and pink) and a physical CD as I'm old school and like tanglible things. The smell of a new booklet, reading the lyrics, songwriting and production credits. So I'm waiting to get my physical copy to post my actual review. It's getting harder to understand what she is singing these days. Anyway, you can always just stream from any of the streaming formats. More cost effective if you don't have much funds and want to help with album sales. I don't care if she gets a #1 album myself but I do like all the cool versions like the cassette tape, different color vinyls, and alternate covers. They actually made it worth while and fun to buy multiple copies as you can get unique versions with this album. To each his own as long as your happy with what you spent your money on.

Re: Fallon (86,159) (86,165) by Licia from USA
I started cackling when he stopped singing, but his voice was still going. If she lipped any of her parts you really couldn't tell. I hate her having to lip, but if she needs to, at least make it look convincing. Who's school of lip syncing did Live Nation make her attend? Lol.

Re: 8th Grade (86,131) (86,163) by Licia from USA
I'm loving 8th Grade. I didn't even realize it was a Timbaland production until he talked at the end. They did a great job on that one. It's just so smooth and groovy to listen to. I'm killing everyone playing the same three songs back to back (The Distance, One Mo Gen, and 8th Grade). Like I can't just listen to these once. I have to repeat each one before I move on to the next song.
