Tamia - Leave it Smokin' (82,675) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
I know there are some Tamia fans in here, so have you heard her new single? It has no explosive chorus, no real infectious hook so I get that it may be underwhelming to some, but you just cannot deny that smooth groove. That's a 90s homage done right. So good. On repeat right now.

That Blackwood guy (82,674) by Billy from Greece
How tacky, cheap and cringe-worthy it is when you see someone using another person's name for their own benefit, let alone claim that Mariah "took a shine" to him, and how "yellow" of talk shows to use Mariah's name as a clickbait. Move on already.

"A look back at Luis Miguel and Mariah Carey" (82,673) by Billy from Greece
This feels like a gazillion years ago. I vividly remember then-current photos of them in various magazines, especially those where Mariah wears that white fringe bikini in early 2001. She seemed quite relaxed with him. It feels so weird to look back at that era and realize how long ago it was.

Re: Long Ago and Melt Away (82,665) (82,672) by Special K from USA
Wow really? You used to skip Melt Away? I have known words for you. Just playing Stacey but I must say knowing how much you love Daydream Special K was a little shook reading you use to skip Melt Away. That song is pure perfection. Until this day I still get all up in feelings when I hear that song.

Re: Slipping Away (82,657) (82,671) by Ronnie from California
But "Long Ago" had the same message. She has never given a clear answer in regards to why it never made the album. It could have been recorded after the album was released and attached as a B-side to ABMB. Which also means the song may have been recorded during the Daydream/Butterfly transition - giving it that crazy sultry tone with resonance.
"Slipping Away" is incredible. Not much can come close to Mariah blending a gospel choir with an R&B low-bass. The choir of her layered voices makes an appearance as well and I can always appreciate the amount of work that goes into creating it. The first half of the song is beautifully written with intertwining texture shifts and seamless melisma. The second half is yet again another classic example as to why MC is one of the multi-melody, layering goddesses. Plus, anything that is D5 and above has earth-shattering resonance. But even more than all of this, the way she sings "you're so farrrr" absolutely breaks my heart each time. I feel her fear but I don't know where to place it. She must have been so afraid of having to do it all on her own, but it was worth it, we got many legendary tracks from independence.

I know. Out of all her albums I only like maybe three songs total. It's quite shameful. Lol.

Article: Mariah Carey on bossiness, breakups and being bipolar (82,669) by Will from England
Despite the sarcastic way this was written, it was pretty interesting to read. He asked questions that aren't ordinarily asked and she was willing answer to a degree.

Slipping away (82,668) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
Personally it has always been a favorite B-side of mine from MC's catalogue. I also wish that it was included on the masterpiece that is Daydream it is pure R&B heaven. I wish that MC and Dave Jam Hall would work together again they created some songs together as well.

Slipping away (82,667) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
The song itself is about the end of a relationship in this particular case Mariah was talking about the end of relationship/marriage to Tommy Mottola. This song has nothing to do with cheating as someone stated also there was never any allegations of cheating in their relationship nor marriage. The only allegations that were during the Mariah and Tommy years were allegations of emotional/mental abuse and issues of Tommy being extremely controlling.

Bossiness article (82,666) by Terna from Nigeria
Now that was an entertaining read, and quite a lengthy one too. Some of the questions he asked her on the stories he heard were new to me, like the white girl bursting into tears when she saw Alfred Roy Carey. For a kid to experience that it kinda changes you. Mariah really had a rough childhood. With phrases like "the shadow-in-chief" and "I will hunt you down" this had me cackling out loud. . At the end of this article it's clear how much we think we know Mariah and how little we truly know about her.

Long Ago and Melt Away (82,665) by Stacey from USA
I used to skip these songs. Nuts, right. I know, I'm nuts. Maybe my tastes have changed. I used to prefer songs like When I Saw You and Forever. I still do like them, but after I Am Free, I skip to Long Ago and Melt Away. Genius songs. Perfection.

Yes, where have you been, lol? Slipping Away is genius. Makes me love Daydream even more, as if that's even possible. Haha.

"Mariah Carey on bossiness etc" article (82,663) by Billy from Greece
I try to avoid overgeneralizations, but why is the British press so darn sarcastic and bitter-ish whenever there is a cover story or even interview with Mariah? I feel like outside the US, she is mostly misunderstood in the UK. The "bitchy diva" scenario is played to death there and there is a constant shallowness and "craziness" attached to her in several articles in the UK press over the years, not to mention a general mocking attitude that I have seen by several journalists on talk shows she has appeared. It feels like her sense of humor as well as her personality and even artistic identity do not translate well in a British setting. At the same time, I feel that she is "celebrated" there for her "fabulousness" and alleged over-the-topness, and MC is giving them what they want. Again, I don't want to lump people into one category. I mostly refer to the attitude that British journalists have expressed towards MC.

She will likely sing VOL, ABMB, WBT and Emotions for an encore. That is all.

What evidence do you have to support your claim that Mottola was guilty of adultery? I have never read that - please post links to the evidence.

Re: Slipping Away (82,653) (82,658) by Bill from the UK
Well, the song is clearly about their crumbling relationship so maybe he did pull rank and decide not to include it on the album. But then, why make it available as a B side? Maybe the strategy was to keep it in the back pocket to encourage single sales of Always Be My Baby? I guess we'll never know, but I'm glad it saw the light of day, even in this small way.

It didn't make the final album cut, because it was about him.

iHeart Music Festival 2018 (82,656) by Bobby A from United States
Mariah is apart of iHeart Music Festival 2018 lineup. I can't believe it. The album has to be coming this fall. This year's line-up is the best in years. Kelly Clarkson too.

iHeart Radio music festival (82,654) by T from USA
Mariah is performing September 21st. This must mean new music right? Not necessarily. I wouldn't mind if she busts out an amazing rendition of Emotions or Always Be My Baby. Good on ROC Nation for booking this.

Re: Slipping Away (82,652) (82,653) by Edouard from France
Hey I just realized that. Could Slipping Away be a play on words, meaning "sleeping away"? Could it refer to the fact that Tommy Motola back then was sleeping around with other women? And since he was the head of the record company he decides not to include the song? Idunno.

Re: Slipping Away (82,647) (82,652) by Bill from the UK
Slipping Away is an amazing song. How it didn't make the cut for Daydream, when the Daydream Interlude did, is beyond me.

Ticket prices (82,651) by Andrew from UK
They are extraordinarily high for that show. Whereas I was a fan of the Sweet Sweet Fantasy Tour, the Christmas Show was slow paced, almost completely lipped. Mariah simply read out cue cards in between songs and it all seemed very, very short. £140 is a lot of money for that kind of production.
