Re: Slipping Away (82,652) (82,653)

Hey I just realized that. Could Slipping Away be a play on words, meaning "sleeping away"? Could it refer to the fact that Tommy Motola back then was sleeping around with other women? And since he was the head of the record company he decides not to include the song? Idunno.

Slipping Away is an amazing song. How it didn't make the cut for Daydream, when the Daydream Interlude did, is beyond me.

Ticket prices (82,651)
by Andrew from UK
| |
|

They are extraordinarily high for that show. Whereas I was a fan of the Sweet Sweet Fantasy Tour, the Christmas Show was slow paced, almost completely lipped. Mariah simply read out cue cards in between songs and it all seemed very, very short. £140 is a lot of money for that kind of production.

The prices are alright. You can still get a decent ticket for £60-£70 which is fair. We shouldn't compare M to the Rolling Stones though. Their career is almost entirely based on touring, so much that they release albums in support of their tours and not vice versa. They can charge £500 per ticket and no one would say a thing.

That's not anyone but Stella going to the press crying because she can't afford to get in. Lol. Seriously though the only people I've seen complain about the prices are people who aren't really fans.

Why have I never listened to this magical, super [censored] fantastic piece of work? Where have I been? I've had this song on my playlist for years and I always skipped it for some reason. Today I finally just let it play and I played it back to back five times. I feel so ashamed as a fan. This song is R&B gold. I try not to say how I want the new music to be anything like the old days, but I wouldn't mind a few songs like this one.

European Christmas tour (82,645)
by Nikki from usa

There's no way that can be live. She needs two days of vocal rest between performances and they're all back to back. She only gets 1 day off when there are days off and it seems to be primarily for traveling in between countries for those concerts.

Las Vegas flop? (82,644)

It's interesting when MC announced her gig in 2014 and 3 *months* before its debut night the papers were claiming poor ticket sales. Now, we're getting it again 1 month prior to her debut and it's already sold to 50% capacity. She hasn't even started promo yet.

I mean, £138 isn't too bad. Someone I know went to the Rolling Stones concert last weekend, and the ticket prices for upfront seats were in the £500s.

Remember back in the later part of the 90s when Latin music became really popular and there were these hilarious rumours that Mariah will be changing her last name to Nuñez? Lol. That would have been the gag of the century, and not in a good way.

Post Malone and Vegas (82,633)
by Bobby A from United States
| |
|
|
What MC needs right now is a Post Malone collaboration. I know Post Malone, really? But it would be a unlikely collaboration out of no where. He is hot right now when everybody wanted to write him off 3 years ago. Frank Dukes should produce the collaboration over a trap beat where MC can get everything out in the open that has happen in the past 3 years in a fun upbeat victorious song. Make the public connect with her and like her again via Post Malone rapping in his scratchy voice. Radio would go crazy for it. Kind of sad to hear the Vegas ticket sales are low. People just don't want to go hear an artist sing the same old songs over and over again. Same songs different residency name. New music drives ticket sales. Look at Justin Timberlake selling out 2-3 shows in a city each month with a new album supporting the tour. Put an album out first and then announce your tour. That's just how it should be done. She just ain't selling 5 million CDs anymore. I hope her team is putting the pressure on her to get something out within the next two weeks. I tweeted MC about a Post Malone collaboration. Jimmy Kimmel is going to be really interesting Wednesday.

Mariah promotion Christmas, no new album (82,632)
by T from USA
| |
|
|
I have no problem with Mariah taping an interview for upcoming Euro Christmas concerts but why would they air it in June? Mixed brand messaging especially if she wants to sell her Vegas shows. Can't they tape the interview (because she looks hot) but save it for October? This may be the first blunder of ROC Nation if you ask me. Also there is no album coming this year as the People magazine or EW eluded to. And remember, just because Mariah is recording new music doesn't ever mean it will see the light of day. Prince and MJ were constantly working on music that we never heard.

X-Girlfriend (82,629)
by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
| |

|
MusicFan J you made a mistake when you mentioned the song X-Girlfriend. It was actually produced by Kevin She'kspere Briggs along with MC. He was also responsible for producing No scrubs for TLC, as well as multiple songs for DC for their sophomore effort The Writings on the Wall. Another fun fact is that Kandi Burress of Xscape and The Real Housewives of Atlanta also wrote No scrubs along with Tameka Tiny Harris. She also co-wrote X-Girlfriend with MC as well as the various songs for DC.
