Re: Poor Rainbow, record rankings (85,732) (85,738)

I can see that. Rainbow is my least favorite MC album. Even back then it was the first time I didn't like a Mariah album more then the last, which for me was true through Butterfly. There's something generic about it to me. I even hate the recording. I suppose the artwork is fitting then. Ugh I hate being negative. I did listen to it very recently and appreciated CTTA more than I ever have. There a little positivity.

I am not sure that Wendy is a real woman (or a real talk show host). If Mariah isn't a true songwriter, then why all of these other people aren't worth more than she is? Mimi is making her money and they continue to struggle with being relevant.

Gee we don't agree on anything but I was pissed with Wendy today. She had the nerve to say MC comes in and changes what's already written and that's how she gets a songwriting credit. Everyone knows MC writes her own lyrics and melody. And Wendy has the nerve to say that Missy is a natural treasure as a songwriter. I love Missy but one of her lyrics is "Can I put my boot on top of your spaghetti daddy?" And what burned me up more than anything, Norman, who claims to be a lamb, defended MC but let Wendy talk him into downplaying MC's role in her songs and agreed with her. Yes Norman, Wendy is your boss, maybe Wendy is your dude on the side, but no amount of money or fame is worth you speaking the opposite of what you know to be true. I'm outraged.

Poor Rainbow, record rankings (85,732)

One does sort of forget about that one. Pity many seem to liken Caution to Rainbow. But after the top three, the rankings of the rest were probably due to vote splitting.

Japan usually get bonus tracks because it is actually cheaper to import the CD from another country. Therefore, to encourage local sales, most record companies add a bonus track, unique cover, or something extra to the Japanese release of an album.

Hello, just curious why does Japan get a bonus track and no one else? Granted I know it will find its way on YouTube.

Wendy Williams (85,728)
by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
| |
|
|
For all the fans who thinks Mariah should promote on her think again. She talked about Missy being a nominee for the SHOF she said Missy she get in but MC should not because she is not a real songwriter, she only changes a few words and other people do the rest of the work, and MC’s so called fan who works for Wendy starts out by defending MC’s songwriter then turns around and agrees with Wendy so for me I do not think going on her show will serve any purpose because she does not respect MC as an artist at all if she can downplay what in part has made MC who she is and that is a singer/songwriter/producer.

Relieved that it isn't I Don't. I am totally all for the renewed focus this new album has. Its brevity also sends a message. Mariah seems really determined to leave whatever she did in the last 4 years in the past. Good.

The Distance - Mariah Carey live in Borobudur 2018 (85,722)
by Licia from USA

She sang my song in Indonesia and I was pretty excited about it. In the beginning of the song you can tell she relied heavily on the backing track, but she did sing the chorus. There was a part where she went to hit a note and you can hear where the backing track came back in. There was a delay because the wrong note came out of her mouth before the track came in to cover it up. Despite that it was still nice see her perform the song. Anyway here's the video if anyone is interested.

Mariah has at least 3 recordings prior to Giving Me Life (album tracks that are not remixes) that exceed 6 minutes. Coincidentally, all of them are cover versions: The Beautiful Ones and Last Night A DJ Saved My Life as pointed out by others, and more recently, One More Try which is around 6:21. Giving Me Life is going to be her longest original song so far.

I think "Last night a DJ saved my life" and "The beautiful ones" were around 6 minutes. [Webmaster: According to Wikipedia, "The beautiful ones" is 7:00 and "Last night a dj saved my life" is 6:43.]

Titled "Giving me Life". 6 min 8 sec. This is a Mariah album first. What do you think is going on within this track? Never has a Mariah track been this long. Is it a full length interlude club banger? #10]

Caution song lengths / running time (85,716)
by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
| |
|
|
So if sources are to be believed, Caution is gonna clock in at 38 minutes. Giving Me Life, the Dev Hynes (Blood Orange) collaboration, is said to be 6 minutes long - the longest track in the album, followed by 8th Grade at over ten seconds shy of 5 minutes. The title track is just several seconds longer than A No No, so I hope that means it's a tight upbeat banger. No definite info yet on what the bonus track for Japan is gonna be.

I don't know what to say Andrew my point was we talk about Mariah's voice and how disappointed the fans are about it so much on the message board that for me it feels like there isn't room for much else. Perhaps you see it differently and that's your right. I stand by what I have said as well, and my comment wasn't directed at you in any way either.
