Re: Why you mad at Mariah? (77,097) (77,108) by Victor from Costa Rica
Don't think I don't understand what you feel. I do have high expectations for her. Sometimes they are fulfilled, sometimes they aren't. My point here (with the initial post) is that if you have a problem and you spend all day long talking about that problem, you will never leave it behind and won't be able to move on because you will be surounded by the toxicity that comes with it and at the end you will be the problem because it will get materialized through you. I guess that is what happened with the lambily. We haven't been able to manage frustration/ dissapointment on a healthy way and we are helping to make things worse than what they really are. Some drama is good, but this shit is 0. Hahaha. (I'm talking about the Lambily.) My advise is: Count your blessings instead of your misery. Life will be better for her and us with the right approach.

[censored] Aren't you tired of being perceived as a negative person, or tired of misrepresenting your self image that way?
Of course she can sing. She sings different from how she used to sing and that my friend is called aging and life. No one can stay the same along the way. If you pay attention to her voice, it carries scars from experience and her voice has evolved to a level that is beyond our comprehension. I wish you could understand and enjoy without judging.

Thanks Geraldine. It's just that I wish we all could try to not analyze everything Mariah does or probably express less our opinions when we don't like or disagree with most of things she does or has become because it is wrong to do that. I have accepted that she has changed and I have embraced her new persona, her new style, her new singing, her new life and her new business vision. I don't judge her in any way because I support what I like and wish her the best no matter what. I forget the things I don't like or at least I don't get mortified about it. And I'm grateful for the amazing music she has given us all these years and for the great music I know will come soon and later. Her legacy will last and stands out forever. We all know that.

Haven't been on here for months and it hasn't changed, people acting like they are Mariah's P.A., people defending bad performances, her poor life choices, will check out for another few months and come back to the same. Lol.

Remember when Mimi wrote that song "I pray"? I wonder what her personal prayer for herself is these days, if any. Perhaps, "I pray for an end to the weight and the vocal hate, that people will accept whomever I say is my mate, even if I act like I'm on a date with the help. Just wait while I play devilish games with an old dictator and drink myself into oblivion, a hero will come along for a fee and rescue me from all disease and tabloid mess on TMZ unless I want Gary to spread the tea", etc etc. That song I Pray was nice though. Cool lyrics.

Praying she lets go of the bottle (77,098) by RJJ12 from USA
It's the alcohol. This video explains it so clearly. You don't go from barely belting the first two nights to sounding so much better by the 3rd night. She even tells the crowd it's not fair that they're drinking because from the sound of her voice she hasn't had any recently. It could be more than the end of her career if she doesn't stop. I wouldn't care if she quit music as if it meant she would let go of these vices that hinder her health. Praying that she lets go of any vices, is healed of any illnesses, and that isn't helping her towards recovery goes away.

I do hope she recovers. But given how things have been going, a change would be a a big surprise at this stage. I will continue to focus on the music. To be fair I haven't listened to I Don't, Infamous or Infinity since the time they were released. I did like I Don't at first, but eventually it felt like I paid for a gossip article set against music. Not to mention that awful video. Even the music has started to become contaminated. None of it feels genuine. Mariah the person might not inspire me anymore, but I want the music to retain its significance for a lifetime. How sad that we have reached a point where retirement feels like an appropriate option. I'd much rather see her retire than... God forbid. I will be here when new music is released, even though my expectations are at an all-time low.

Re: OK third show highlights (77,085) (77,091) by Edouard from France
Hi, I agree with you. Mariah doesn't just sing. She is a singer in the very classical sense of the word. Her mother is a singer, she's been surrounded by singers her whole life. Mariah's voice is amazing, still. When she's rested, I believe she sounds better that during the Butterfly and Rainbow era. I love her performances then, husky voice, full voice, but you can hear the way she sings is not always healthy. I believe that's why she has learned to develop other parts of her voice so that she doesn't strain it too much. She's that smart with her instrument. The thing is that Mariah is not an entertainer, again in the classical sense of the word. She doesn't "dissociate" herself when she sings. It must be hard to mean every words, emote the right emotion at the right time, when you do a show like Vegas, 3 days a week. You have to be able to go from Vision Of Love (first single ever) to IDWC's misery, to Emotion's fun, to Hero's depth, etc. I believe Mariah has so much on her plate, with her artistry, with the job that is beeing a part of the music business, to her family life with the kids, etc. She's doing what she can with what she's got, as we all do. Respect.

Re: Why you mad at Mariah? (77,089) (77,090) by Edward from USA
Completely agree with you. It's frustrating looking back at the way her music and persona used to make me feel when new music was about to drop or a performance was about to take place. I can't describe it, but the excitement in anticipation of Mariah releasing new music was comparable to me only to that of when you're in love and feel those wonderful butterflies in your stomach. I think I'm following your approach, which is to just not let this mess she's become interfere with the wonderful music and performances she graced us with, because this is what's been happening to me. There's always a little bit of hope in my heart that she might do something to turn things around, but I do also have the awful feeling that she'll end up like Michael and Whitney, and then there wouldn't be hope anymore. I wish for her to be there for her children and see them go to college, but there's clearly something very off with Mariah that only the delusional ones refuse to see. I think she should just retire for now, devote herself to her children, and then eventually resurface in a different light. This constant "all in your face everything but good music" Mariah we've been experiencing lately has made a joke out of once was a great brand.

Re: Why you mad at Mariah? (77,081) (77,089) by Musti from UK
I think you have missed the point. We are (in capitals) united, in the fact that we don't recognise her anymore, the fact that we cannot believe this is what has become of her career. I haven't posted in a few months, haven't really been checking the message board either. I agree with the everyone's frustrations wholeheartedly. I even agree with you; I get the defensive place you're coming from. But I do hope you soon realise the only thing left to defend is the years of flawless music she has given us. This is why I decided to let go. The mess that she has become had started to get in the way of my connection to the music. I will not let her do that to all those songs that have decorated every corner of my life. I'm sad to say that she is no longer as important to me as her music. Nowhere near. She has become an embarrassment to her own self, to her hard-earned legacy. This woman taking to the stage in those circus outfits with her overfilled hips is not Mariah. Mariah is gone and she is probably never coming back. I've made my peace with it. I'm glad we at least got MIAM. Despite its similarities to Butterfly, it's an amazing album, one that I can look up to as a legend's final masterpiece.

Mariah is lucky to have a fan like you. No matter what we write on this messageboard, Mariah is the only one who has the power to save her career and restore her credibility but for now I'm not sure she has the will or the ability. But of course, as you said, there's always the unexpecting.

Re: Why you mad at Mariah? (77,081) (77,087) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I understand your views and I respect them, but saying this board is negative, you should visit some of the other ones. UKMix for example had to be blocked 4-5 times just because of all the mess that went down with people fat shaming her, picking apart her videos by critiquing every note she hits (or misses), then the whole Celine drama. Then other boards, which I have not visited but heard they go really in on Mariah like lipstick alley and this other one that starts with an "A" I forgot. I'd say comparatively this board in particular is more tame since Eric screens the messages and then posts them. There have been many times when he out right didn't approve posts because they have been very disrespectful towards Mariah. Here on this board people may say a little "oh Mariah didn't sound good last night" or "oh she really needs to be more serious" whereas on other boards they'll rip apart every note she missed, then they'll start sharing photos comparing how her body is different from what it was 6 months back, 10 months back and so on. Basically my point it I find it a little surprising when people (and I don't mean you in particular) say that this particular board is rude/ disrespectful/ insensitive/ depressing. We are all concerned because the Mariah we see now is not what she said she is. It's a legitimate reason to worry because we've already seen way too many artist face bad consequences after some concerning situations in their lives. Anyways, I hope you understand my post was meant to defend the board and not attack you. Sorry for the rambling mess, I was just writing on a whim.

I also think the lambily always expect more, because we've been there for a long time and we know her genius talent more than others. With the voice I always wonder if it's only the "bad treatment". Do you remember the 98 and 99 interviews where she was always steaming and talking about how important rest and the tea with lemon and honey is? I mean she didn't seem like a singer who doesn't take care of her voice, more the opposite. I hope the fans are not the problem for her. I think there's something else that "stops" her inside.
