Re: Clusters (81,424) (81,429) by Shezz from Pk
My reflective moody cluster:
Looking In
Close my eyes
Petals
I wish you well
Languishing
"Fly like a bird" had way too much energy and a chirpier vibe to make that cluster.

Roc called out Nick (81,428) by Licia from USA
That video Nick posted of Roc telling Nick he needed to get some "gooder" shoes had me rolling. Now the lambs can calm down now. Roc isn't traumatized by his dad talking about his ugly Uggs. Those shoes Nick had on were pretty ugly so I'd say Roc got him good.

Re: Clusters (81,424) (81,427) by Billy from Greece
Interesting concept. One of my "clusters" (I guess the moodier one) is comprised of the following: "Alone In Love", "Sent From Up Above", "Do You Think of Me", "Long Ago", "The Roof", "I Still Believe (Stevie J. Remix)", "All My Life", "Lullaby", "For the Record", "HATEU", "Faded".

Re: The remix (81,418) (81,426) by Lila from United States
It is a dumb rule. I always thought that rule was instated because they didn't want artists to have too much success off of the diversification of one song. Another hoop to jump through. Pettiness really.

Mariah anniveary (81,425) by Anonymous from
Hey guys, thank you for reaching out in regards to celebrating Miss Mariah's b'day. I've had to take a step back due to personal reasons but please go ahead and share your special moments. Later on in the year I'll be back on it and it will be great. Just keeping ya'll updated.

Clusters (81,424) by Anonymous from
So I was making a Mariah album for a particular chilled out mood when I thought about similarities amongst songs. I've grouped together a cluster of songs that are similar, would love to hear your thoughts on the same/different clusters if that makes sense.
If We
Lullaby
Stay The Night
Your Girl
Ribbon
Make It Look Good

Mariah Carey wishes fans a happy St Patrick's Day (81,422) by B from USA
Mariah looks amazing. I hope she releases an amazing single this summer like Dreamlover or #Beautiful.

Re: New album (81,412) (81,421) by B from USA
I hope Mariah makes an album that updates her signature sound seamlessly without sounding desperate. I really hope she doesn't release an album like Beyonce or Lemonade, Bey's worst in my opinion. I want midtempos, uptempos, and ballads.

It's not that deep. Did no one catch my interpolation of lyrics from Did I Do That in my message?

Re: The remix (81,418) (81,419) by MusicfanJ from Germany
I didn't know there was a new rule with the remixes. Interesting. But that explains a lot. I'm lucky as well to have experienced the time where a remix was a real remix. (Sometimes even better than the original song.)

Re: The remix (81,416) (81,418) by Licia from USA
That's a sucky rule that Billboard made. Now we're stuck with crappy remixes. Real artists aren't allowed create greatness because the industry is now catering to these twat waffle artists that are more image than music. I'm glad I got to experience the era of great remixes.

Re: Mariah's voice with new album (81,411) (81,417) by Will from England
If she keeps the vocals on the tracks simple, then she can play with them when live and change it up that way. But I'm so excited for what she could be cooking up at the moment.

The remix (81,416) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
If an artist does remixes like MC did in the 90's it is now considered a whole new song. So artists have to be careful with remixes. Even though I miss the days of a MC remix with all the brand new fixings.

Re: New album (81,414) (81,415) by Lainsky from Philippines
Agree. If my understanding is correct, it is like "Memoirs" only it's confessions no guest rappers (but there should be a remix - her signature with guest rappers).

Re: New album (81,410) (81,414) by Tijl from Belgium
A "Confessions" styled album from Mariah would and could be epic. Something fun and upbeat without any guest rappers just for the sake of it. Launch it with a club banger accompanied by a truly great video that has a proper storyline. "Am I asking for the moon and stars here? I don't think so."

New album title (81,413) by Lainsky from Philippines
I hope Mariah returns to her one word title with a track of the same title like in the 90s. I kind of miss that.

Re: New album (81,410) (81,412) by Shezz from Pk
I think hoping Mariah experiments away from RnB is futile as much as we'd love to hear another sound. It is ingrained in her. Working with Roc Nation you know she'll still have an urban sound. Here's hoping it is an inspired one like TEOM. She seems determined to do something great again, seeing as she has scrapped the old and has started anew. I'm positively hopeful.

Mariah's voice with new album (81,411) by Bobby A from United States
I am super excited that she is making new music. I hope one suggestion that was made to her at the RocNation offices was to work with other producers and songwriters besides JD and BMC. I love their music, but Mariah has to bring it in 2018. I would like for her to take the Chris Brown approach by working with mostly new and fresh producers who don't have their sound already on the radio. She needs a fresh sound that fits the current state of her voice. Her current voice doesn't give her a strong ability to sing in her whisper or breathiness register or prolonged belts at a song's climax. I am okay with that because I want her to be able to perform the album live on TV when the promotional tour starts without any mishaps. I do hope she will finally work with Calvin Harris, Nic Nac, Mel and Mus, DJ Mustard, and a Daley or Tank duet. I predict we will get the first single at the end of the summer and the album in October or November.

Re: New album (81,403) (81,410) by Andrew from UK
Great news. However, a caveat: if she has listened to what some people have been saying here and elsewhere about what she needs to do, it could be a crowning glory, despite her vocal constrictions. But if she listens to the sycophants and peddles the same old wares, surely it will not be. Something mainstream but experimental is called for, but with that signature Mariah sound. I still call for her to look to Madonna (I think, given that they are two surviving queens of the old school, the animosity may be gone and mutual respect has hopefully sprung - ageing is sometimes a positive thing in that respect). Madonna did ethereal experimental on Ray of Light and all out fun and mainstream on Confessions. An album in such a spirit could be monumental. An album that reflects upon reality, and even her ageing, would be insightful. Fingers crossed.

Article: Me, myself, & Mariah (81,409) by Anastasia Beaverhausen from Citizen of the World
People write MC off too often, discrediting her talents and her professional accomplishments. But when you think about a lot of pop and R&B artists - both Marian's [sic] contemporaries and those who have followed her - I am amazed at her strength, both personally and professionally. She has accolades naming her as the defining artist of both the '90s and '00s. However, between the hits, she endured remarkable trials in her personal life, many of which became fodder for our celebrity-crazed culture and the sadistic business model of paparrazi journalism. Many other artists have endured similar struggles, but all too often thess artists have cracked under the pressure. With the help of substance abuse and/or the unique god complex and entitlement disorder that often comes with fame, these young people have ended their careers, or even their lives. Marian [sic] has persevered through her mistakes and failures and remarkably stayed true to herself. Beginning with "Butterfly" (which is a clever metaphor for the post-divorce metamorphosis she had begun personally and professionally), we started to see Marian [sic] as she sees herself. I'm reminded of Dolly Parton, another remarkably talented singer and songwriter who began her career under the thumb of a domineering man but broke free and proved she could do anything she wanted. Like Mariah, Dolly has cultivated a public persona that all too often overshadows her talents and her humanity. People mock her and judge her, but Dolly shrugs off the shade because she is just being true to herself. She isn't some Clive Davis factory-designed pop star clone. And neither is Mariah. I love and respect them both for that. I enjoyed this article because the journalist respected Marian [sic] enough to focus on her music and her humanity rather than dig for dirt and salacious details that might sell more magazines, generate more clicks, or get more shares. The writer did not gloss over any of the shade, but he didn't make it the focus of the piece other than giving Mariah the opportunity to respond in a diplomatic and neutral environment. Therefore the readers are afforded the chance to live vicariously through the journalist and imagine they are chatting with Mariah. It's a short piece, but after finishing it, I had developed even greater respect for MC. I need a hard copy of this. [Webmaster: I think her name is "Mariah".]

Allen Stone / new project (81,406) by RibbonB from USA
So thanks to the updated American Idol, I am now aware of this great singer songwriter. He has such a good take on new soul with old influences. He could be a real good collaborator with Mariah. Here is hoping she HSS the right tone to her project along with done inspired music and lyrics. I only have one major concern about the tone or theme she selects, but hoping for the best.

Nick's so immature and so insecure. He's much better off when he doesn't speak.
