A few windows open still this year (83,118) by T from USA
She was in the studio during her little time off last night. Maybe this means she's really gearing up. It would be nice if everything is finished so that she could move ahead with a schedule like this:
July 20th: first single
August 31, September 1, 2, 5, 9, 10: Vegas
September 21st: iHeart performance
September 28th: album release
October 5th: second single
October 7th - November 9th: international tour
November 11th - 29th: album promo

Licia, have you seen this video of Anita and MJB? So good. I love how they just played with the song Angel and showed so much mutual respect.

Playback signals (83,116) by Andrew from UK
Further to my previous message, in this Mariah touches we earpiece unnecessarily and the prerecord kicks in. Suggest it's a prearranged signal. Also suggest that Mariah is physically incapable of singing a song. Take a moment to understand the gravitas of that. Physical. Incapable. Singing. Song.

I've been listening to it all week. I never realized how much I loved this song. One of my all time favorites for sure.

Re: She uh have nice gowns - Aretha (83,099) (83,113) by loverboy from Canada
I remember I made a YouTube comment back on 2k10 when she was lipsyncing her Christmas special that had her mother on it. Big mistake on my part.

Re: She uh have nice gowns - Aretha (83,093) (83,112) by loverboy from Canada
That's the thing. If she was good at lipsyincing and it didn't use the CD vocals we all know and love for any of the songs, then it wouldn't be as big of a deal (although I personally wouldn't like it either way, and don't like it even Celine does it). But people wouldn't notice it as much and therefore speak about it as much. But she doesn't even put an effort her faking it. Like the "Fantasy" incident of her falling off of the box. C'mon. You're already in the hot seat for lipsyncing. But I'm sure that was Dick Clark Productions fault.
The worst pulprit, in my opinion, is when she performs "Without You" and alternates between her current voice and the 1993 album vocals that are knocked down a semi-tone or whatever. It's like 2 completely different people singing and not seamless at all.

Re: Emotionless (83,106) (83,111) by Andrew from UK
Iffy one here. Her feature is prominent. That it wasn't resung, a given. But it cannot be called a sample, surely. It wouldn't fall within the "spirit" of the track. I would hope what feels "honest" for the objective and reasonable person would prevail. That she hit number one with the same vocals kinda would to me make it honest that she couldn't claim another number one.

Re: Wise Girls 2 (83,107) (83,110) by Andrew from UK
Mariah is one of the worst musicians whose ego screamed vanity and ego for acting credits. Glitter was shite. Wise Girls was Mariah quickly throwing out lines in bursts waving her hand around and Doug a thick NY accent like she was a lush. She literally looked like she was gonna crap her pants if someone improvised. Precious was her looking pissed off with a clipboard. There's no "acting" here. Enough of this nonsense. She can no more act a part than she can lip sync her own songs. She only ever worries about how she looks. She is not "all there". Tell me I am wrong, with citation. I'll cite you counter examples until the cows come home. She is not an actress. She was a singer who lost her way. Seriously lost her way. To thunderous applause of the lambs.

Funny how lamb always uses another artist to excuse Mariah.

Re: Emotionless (83,106) (83,108) by Chicago Lamb from USA
Honestly, I don't want her re-recording anything from her back catalogue. It will always be held to the original no matter what.

Re: Wise Girls 2 (83,098) (83,107) by TJ from Norway
Am I the only one who think Mariah should stick to singing, and stop this acting thing? She is clearly not an actress and she doesn't know how to act in movies. She doesn't have face expressions enough to be in movies and she doesn't use her voice correctly when "acting". Even her fingers are tuned in to the diva act she has been doing for years in real life, in every movie she has done. I love the musician that she is, but can't stand the acting. Some (most) people can't do both.

Re: Emotionless (83,097) (83,106) by Bill from the UK
Hmmmm. If she had actually re-sung her part for the song then maybe you could dress it up as "Drake feat Mariah", but she didn't and it is nothing more than a sample. We didn't have Mariah feat. Tom Tom Club, Mariah feat. Treacherous 3, Mariah feat. Stacey Lattishaw etc. and she sampled those songs so heavily she was simply singing her melody over the original backing track.

I Still Believe (83,105) by Ethan from United States
I agree with you all that she should have gone back to the studio and re-recorded the song to fit her current tone/voice. I wonder if it's the last minute decision to switch out CTTA and perform ISB with no preparation. It's unfortunate that it made the show less successful and not coherent. Her ISB performance on the Billboard Music Awards (BMA) was nowhere near and didn't sound anything like the album version at all but it was a great live performance and considered one of the best performances on BMA. I feel like you either go back to the studio and layer vocals/mix all the songs like Britney's team did or try to sing live over playback background vocals at much as possible. I hope the 2nd leg will be better with change/improvement as I plan to see it in September.

Glitter was never going to work. Mariah, the director, and the studio didn't share the same vision and the film suffered as a result. Mariah's performance is far from the worst part of the movie, a movie (and soundtrack) that was never going to work. The soundtrack is an example of Mariah being ahead of the times. However, she redeemed herself as an actress with Wise Girls, Tennessee, Precious, and The Butler.

The Tresor Rare store at the Fayette mall is basicall a shrine to Mariah. I have photos but I don't know how to upload them on here.

Mariah looks amazing and relaxed in the recent photos she uploaded to her social media accounts. She looks better than she has in years, she looks like she did at the beginning of the E=MC2 era.

Scene 1 - A lowly French fan, we will call "Jedouardo" is at a Mariah concert in Paris, clutching his Mariah doll whilst his carer guides him to the front of the stage. Suddenly...

I applaud that everyone is fed up with the ten-percenting and shite vocals. However. I was pointing this out about 5 years ago to screams of "hater". My, how times have changed.

Wise Girls 2 (83,098) by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
I read another post about suggestion of Mariah doing Glitter 2. But I would say what about Mariah doing sequel to Wise Girls instead? The plot could be just like this: Detective kate (Melora) is assigned a task to infiltrate a drug ring in a restaurant (or whatever) and she requested the help of Meg (Mira) and Raychel (Mariah) to bust the criminals, in exchange of the crime they both committed in the past. So this could be like Charlie's Angels kind of movie. The movie could also be for tv movie, just like what Mariah did for her Christmas Hallmark channel.

Emotionless (83,097) by B from USA
Mariah should be considered the featured guest on this song/single. Her vocals are so prominent and front and center that she deserves a guest credit. She sings more on Emotionless that Rhianna did on Live Your Life and Love The Way You Lie.

Re: She uh have nice gowns - Aretha (83,089) (83,096) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Yeah, I guess I get upset too. Haha. But yeah, that last thing you mentioned, that's actually one of the biggest reasons why her current state disappoints me so much. I think many of you don't know this, and I have mentioned it a few times on this board before - in our country (and in fact most of East and Southeast Asia) we are still pretty hardcore Mariah fans when it comes to loyalty and support, and that especially shows every time she releases new material. The Philippines and its neighboring countries are usually the first ones where Mariah hits #1. In our country, Mariah is just as revered as Celine (Whitney is too but just not to the same degree) to the point that she is still considered the ultimate (caps) vocal goddess, which explains why we have a lot of female singers who can pretty much mimic almost every run she does on her most difficult songs (see Lead The Way by Kyla or Jona or maybe Through the Rain or Never Too Far which I also assume they have done covers of). Regine Velasquez, Nina, Morisette Amon, the list goes on. They all can sing current day or even late 90s Mariah under the table when it comes to effortlessness, fluidity and power. Sure, they're younger and they will never really ever have Mariah's tone (though Kyla comes close to Mariah's breathy coos), but some of them, have been in the industry for a long time and still can sing like they have during their prime such as Regine (about the same age as Mariah and has been in the industry longer) and Kyla started in 2001 and still sounds exactly like she did back then. But I'm gonna say this again, these wannabes have nothing on Mariah in terms of overall musicianship, songwriting and most especially that unique vocal tone, but I fear that this won't be the case for the last one for long, especially not with her mostly forced, unpleasant or uncomfortable current sound. Couple that with her current lifestyle choices, ego and stubbornness and we have a recipe for an accelerated vocal decline.
