I think Mariah's going to give us an up tempo single like Honey with a Weeknd-esque beat. Or at least that's what I'm hoping for. Mariah's announcement in People has generated a lot of buzz and if she delivers a strong single with a decent video she could easily score another Top 20 hit and set the stage for another comeback.

I had a similar experience, but with "Open Arms". I was bored in class with one of my headphones on, and then I heard that voice, that voice that was so unique, and I was wondering whether the DJ would come out at the end of the song and say who was singing it. Later during the week I found out it was, the one and only, Mariah Carey. At that time I was living in my home country, where they only had two radio stations that played music in English, "La Roca (The Rock) and "La 91" (The 91). That Sunday afternoon I sat by the radio with my tape recorder ready because I had petitioned for the song to be played, and the DJ told me they would play it after 1pm. I waited for 5 hours, he announced the song at the beginning before it started playing, my recording was cleaned, sorry Andrew, no annoying DJ voice overs, lol. Those really were the days.

Channeling the 90's vision, now channel the 90's voice. I know you still have it in you. Just stop worrying about how you look on stage and just kill every song. You'll be more respected if you slay a song, than if people see you your "bad" side.

Sorry but Crapfinity lyrics beats There's Got To Be A Way every day of the week and twice on Tuesdays. If ever I feel down I put that song on. I laugh out loud every time. I love me some Mariah but those lyrics sound like they were penned by a child with a crayon.

I sat by the radio waiting for Heartbreaker for hours and it finally came on and I hit record wetting myself. Then the DJ came on at the climax and spoke over her adlibs and cut it short. I went mad. Sat by the radio for hours waiting for it again. Those were the days.

Before iHeart (83,511)
by Bobby A from United States

I am just wondering during the next 3 week's before the iHeart Music Festival will we have the first single, the title of the album, release date, the tracklisting and surprise collaborations? I am hoping for three collaborations: The Weeknd, Post Malone, and Drake. She has to be smart with choosing the first single because one wrong choice will disappoint us, radio, and critics. So MC has to choose a first single that makes a statement that Mimi is back. It needs to remind us why we fell in love with Mimi. Something like Fantasy or Honey or Touch My Body would make a statement. Post Malone or Drake as a feature will make people want more and radio play her again. Maybe Cardi B or Chris Brown or Ed Sherran feature would give Mimi that radio airplay that she needs so badly. Just thinking before bed listening to radio. Guess who came on the radio again? Cardi B. Lol. Oh well, we need to do something special to help her downloads and radio airplay with the first single. Any ideas?

Ha, I do feel excited too. It's a lot different now because I remember back in the 90s you had no idea what was happening until you heard a new song on the radio. I remember in August 1995, sitting on my bedroom floor listening to the radio whilst playing with my rubick's cube (I was, and forever will be, a geek - side note, I can complete one in under 5 minutes lol) and I remember Fantasy came on the radio and I was like "huh, sounds a bit like Mariah" and carried on doing what I was doing. Then at the end as Mariah was ad-libbing over the final chorus, I remember Dr. Fox gushing "what an amazing new single from Mariah Carey" and me spazzing out, squealing, chucking the rubick's cube out of my hands, and diving to the cassette recorder and whacking "record" so hard I bruised my finger. I didn't even care what I was recording over haha. I got the last 30 seconds and played it over and over and over and sat by the radio all day waiting for it to be played again.

Hello to all. Maybe I'm looking too much into it, and I haven't seen this 7 sec clip, but I'm thinking that a bed full of shoes might refer to a "Walk Away" type of video to an "aggressive" new song. I can't wait.

I think "aggressive" is hopefully descriptive of the music's approach and not necessarily the music itself. If it is confident and ready to attack Spotify and the charts etc. then great. I cannot see Mariah making an aggressive *sounding* musical, even moreso now that she has described the album in terms of almost every other good Mariah Carey album that has ever been (I aint even looking at you Memoirs and Charmbracelet). If it has fresh and modern and relevant production styles I'll be a happy bunny.

Jadakiss, you mean to say you didn't learn the dance to Honey? Tsk. To be fair, they are some very complicated moves - so complicated Mariah sometimes forgets them on stage haha. Anyway, take no shame: I think everyone in my school, boys and girls alike, tried to learn Crazy. My macho older brother tried to learn Sometimes. And everyone just made up their own one to Toxic which is incidentally what the queen who was dancing to next to my mate was dancing to when he elbowed my mate's drink all over me haha I don't care though because it was a wicked night, great party and so much fun. It's Britney bitch.

I'm trying to contain my excitement as I don't want to be disppaointed but I can no longer do it. Mariah freaking Carey is releasing new music people, and it looks to be this side of the year. This very notion is making feel like a giddy teenager, and no, I have not been on the splashes this morning.

Wow Brit didn't sing one word. I've always wanted to see her live as well, always taped her performances back in the day and tried to learn the routines. It stopped at "Slave 4 U". Did I really just admit that on a public platform?

Mariah samples Yarbrough and Peoples' "Don't Stop The Music". Ever since Mariah teased us with that song at Floyd's bash I've forever been blasting it from my car. Mariah is undeniably the queen of samples and has brought back to life so many some old skool jams. Hehe, I think my phrase for the day is "old skool".

Just listened to "Made For Now". I like the song, Afro beats infused with Latino is a lovely combo. I hope this song is a commercial success and age doesn't play a factor in its performance. It's nice to hear an upbeat song.

This is her last chance to shine at the top. She is going to deliver this time. With production and hit making songwriting skills by Poo Bear, No ID, Bobby Ross Avila, Diane Warren, Prince Charlez, Crystal Nicole, and a few other surprise collaborations, she has to be destined to deliver the best R&B album of 2018. I bet the album is already titled and tracks sequenced. I am sure Jay Z, Tyran Smith, and Sylvia Rhone all have heard the album and given MC a thumbs up.

I'm excited about the album of course but her most recent efforts are making me slightly nervous. If there are tracks like Unforgettable and Almost Home, then great. If we have tracks like Infamous, Why You Mad, Crapfinity, Can't Say No and The Star then I think I will cry. I'm not sure what is meant by an "aggressive" sound, but it doesn't sound like we're getting Dreamlover's sequel lol. I really hope MC delivers and she can then finally bow out of this charade with her lagacy in tact. Ish.

It's a nice statement, but since when did Mariah care about what her fans want? That's arguably quite untrue. But I agree that the album must be coming out soon - it must be October, otherwise why cancel the Aus&NZ tour? It will be interesting to see if she's posting pictures of herself frolicking about on a boat during the period when she should be playing for her Antipodean fans lol I hope she doesn't, for she will surely lose all of them. You don't piss of the Aussies lol. Regardless, that there might be a new Mariah Carey album soon is quite exciting.
