Article: James Packer opens up on "Mariah Carey mistake" (78,931) by Dumi from South Africa
It is actually a good thing that James didn't go critical. He had fun and sure their paths will cross again as both are business people. Relationships don't work at times. MC people were wrong to go public on payments for the time etc. I think it is Stella. The Fleming plastic Russian. All MC relationships in the past were never tabloid stuff. She had devalued MC a lot and wonder why friends like Oprah can't advise her. MC dresses so awful ever since Godzilla Stella came on board and nothing successful has happened ever since. Her music flops etc. Help.

She looked good and crazy (78,930) by Randy from USA
On that Facebook video, probably diet pills. I do not care for the new song. I'm concerned. We've lost Michael, Whitney and Prince. She doesn't need to be doing anything.

The Star the song (78,929) by Gilles from Malta
Not my type of song for Christmas but I am sure it fits perfectly for the animated movie. I was expecting a song like "One child" lol, anyway new song is here. I still bounce with I Don't and Unforgetable acoustic.

Matiah's crazy ranting (78,928) by Andrew from UK
Sorry. My apologies. I was wrong. The Star is not the worst thing Mariah’s ever recorded. This is.

Packer / The Star / robbery (78,927) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
Finally we hear from Packer about the breakup and I'm very impressed by his class and not finger pointing.
The Star. Mariah brought it. I want her and Shaiman to do a full secular album with amazing strings and live orchestration. It could be her Tony Bennett and Gaga moment. The respect she'd be given from the industry would be explosive.
Regarding the robbery. I have no doubt it was an inside job. what kind of s*it security system to millionaires is this, that responds hours and hours later to a silent alarm? There's been a lot of robberies in Hollywood over the past few months. Will we having a Bling Ring part 2 from these invasions? Dumb goons.

Follow the star (78,926) by Myles from CT, USA
Underwhelmed and does she sound flat throughout the whole song? The magic isn’t there. Sorry.

Re: The Star (78,908) (78,925) by Stacey from USA
It's not going to blow up the charts, but it fits perfectly with the theme of the movie. It's a Christmas song to a Christian themed movie. I like these types of songs (One Child, The Star.) It's a nice song that will add to the spirit of the season. Let's put it this way, I think it's a whole lot better than her last few efforts (Infini-crap, I mean Infinity and I Don't.)

Mariah Carey suspects security team of planning (78,923) by B from USA
Mariah needs to clean house. She needs to fire her entire team including Stella. Who is her security team? Stella's cousins? I think Mariah's "antics" are her finally realizing what we've all known for some time, her team is the definition of incompetent.

Yes it does put me in the same frame of mind as There For Me (which I love).

The song is nice, congrats Mimi. I can see kids especially loving the song. Let's hope any associated video will be appropriate unlike last years crop of holiday videos.

The Star (78,920) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
This song is classic Mariah. She and Marc Shaiman created a beautiful uplifting song that fits with the message of the movie. Also I love that she was able to incorporate her children and something and a time of year that means so much to her. Mariah is the queen of Christmas music.

The song is ok, a bit cheesy for my liking. Felt like the song would be more fitting for a musical in the West End. I wouldn't actively listen to the song again. The last note however was very impressive, clearly Mariah is still very talented. 3/5

Aww. I was hoping she would use her old higher belt. It's not very reliable, but I'm sure she can produce it in a studio environment, and it would have kicked the song up a notch towards the end there. She mostly uses her low nasally tonefor the duration of this song, or the liquor tone if you will , which is my least favorite MC tone since it goes nowhere. But it's very reliable for her so I guess the plus is that she should be able to perform it live. I've always thought that she should do the impossible on the recording, even if she can't reproduce it live. At least we will have a stellar recording. But I guess there is also merit to not overdoing it in the studio if you know you probably can't produce it on stage.

I am a good lamb when the music is right. That's honestly all I care about. You enjoy your weekend as well and have lots and lots of splashes. I'm a horrible influence. Lol.

The Star (78,914) by Andrew from UK
Like a long, slow, agonising march toward death. I would go as far as to say it is the worst thing she has ever recorded. Ever. And I still have nightmares about There For Me. It's not that it's just bad, it's *so* bad that it's only mildly more preferable than hearing loss.

The Star (78,913) by Brad from USA
I enjoy this song. To me, it is plaintiff in its approach while obviously orchestrated to compliment the tenor and theme of the companion film. I like its encouraging message that I think can speak to people of traditional and self-based faiths. I also think it is true to the strengths of Mariah's voice at this point in time; those being excellent elocution, tone and mid-range belting. I'm sure its tender for her too as her children are part of the group that sings the chorus' refrain. In all, its a lovely, uplifting experience to listen to it. And who among us doesn't need that with all that is going on, especially as we begin to enter that special time of year. May God bless and be well.

Re: The Star (78,904) (78,912) by Musti from UK
I don't think this song has commercial potential to be honest. Maybe if the movie is a huge success. But then again the Oz movie was huge yet most people didn't know Almost Home existed. Having said that, I do agree that this song has an easily distinguishable melody. Most of all, there are no high chest belts. I'm proud of her for singing in a range she's comfortable with. Her voice is so beautiful no matter which octave she is in.

Love it and positive about it and let the critics do what they are good at. Obviously she is a business lady who contributed to this project, go MC. Like that Oprah and Tyler are on this project too. Good to see this continue. I wish she would dump Stella though.

Just had a chance to check the new song out and, to be perfectly honest, not sure I'd like to hear it again, let alone on repeat.

This song is awesome. I listened to it and got goosebumps. She is still the best singer out there hands down. I was totally blown away and memorized by this beautiful song. She is definitely a prolific songwriter and singer. I am speechless. I love you so much MC and I will go out and support this album.

The Star (78,908) by Stacey from USA
Just listened to the song. This is classic Mariah, which is a good thing. Very much in the vein of One Child and There For Me. Her vocals and lyrics are on point. It just proves she still has "it". Promote the dang song. It needs to be played as the ending movie credits roll. Great job, Mariah. Definitely going on my playlist this Christmas season.

And the song needs to be played as the closing movie credits roll.
