Re: I think Mariah was sick the first two nights (77,231) (77,238)

I'd understand if she's not feeling well. If so, then I hope she gets better really soon. Even if not so, I still hope all goes well. I'm sure you'd understand if I had my reservations about this though, because of how it happens with every set of shows. Still, no hate, just saying. I wouldn't go as far as putting down other artists when trying to put Mimi on a pedestal. She claims to respect her peers, so maybe I will too. Also, I'd much rather prefer the drama that comes with cancelling her show for health concerns over the drama that follows some of the things she's recently become known for. But that's only me and my opinion, no offence or anything of the sort.

I do understand what you mean and I agree with you. I believe the way you said what you said is just perfect. There's no negativity involved even if you show your concern. Most importantly you show your faith in our girl. And I love that.

There's so much I could say in reply to everything that's horrifically wrong with this message, but I haven't the energy or wherewithal.

Mariah is very smart, that's one reason I've always loved about her. But sometimes she seems to hide her smart mind. And she's definitely insecure, nothing wrong with it. Everybody has times of feeling not secure. Some more some less. But like someone posted here, Mariah should show the world again, why she was on top and why she's still in the business. A lot of people forget why she's one of the greatest. For me she's the greatest, but an image can destroy all those things she has worked her entire life for. I think it's sad if the public and press are only talking about outfits and "diva" behavior. Mariah is more than that like we all know. Of course she can decide how she wants to be seen in the public. But does she really know how her image is right now? I believe she will show a more relaxed side of herself in the future. Maybe her children will tell her to be the real Mariah in the public again. I love MC, I just miss the natural, down to earth woman who's smile could easily melt ice. I also understand that a star of her level needs a persona to protect herself. Hmm I hope some of this board understand what I mean. I just want Mariah to be happy. And if she has new ideas for a new album it would be great. Because I can't get enough.

Thank you Hilton. I hear what you're saying, and I guess there are some positives we could celebrate every now and then, but these seem to be so far and few between. I'm not here for her personal life or the ensembles etc, only for Mariah the singer, the artist. Her personal life and ensembles do however take centerstage more often than not, thanks in part to her social media team. They push these things and then can't deal with the reactions, perhaps they enjoy how Mariah's being torn apart. I try to keep to the music and the live performances, and I'll keep hoping that one day she'll use her voice to sing again. I love her voice, I just don't feel that she is singing anymore. Don't get me wrong, I'm not expecting nineties vocals or for her to replicate any of those lines from the studio where she miraculously doesn't breath for like, ever. She's missing so much of the very fundamental things pertaining to singing when she performs, and implementing these again doesn't even require surgery. I've listened to quite a few clips of her recent shows. When I do, I close my eyes and listen for a singer. I'd be lying if I told you that I could find a full five minutes of actual singing from what I've heard. I am happy to hear that the sounds coming out of her mouth are a bit more pleasant than the day before though, and because I love her, I'll keep watching and listening just like I keep going to my nephew's football games. He's not scored in 2 years. I know she'll be better soon. Anyway, lambily forever.

Why I don't miss the "old Mariah" (77,232)

Love that video. Haha. The more I think about it the more I see that the Rainbow era was a very drastic change in terms of image. Mariah basically became a new artist in 1999. That was so smart of her. Longevity yet youth.

She probably was on cortisone, hence the swollen look. If that's the case, she could not cancel the show because that would have meant another drama. None of the other "singers" in Vegas will cancel a show since they don't bother to sing live, even the easy parts. She looks thiner after a few days, she looks more confident and at ease.

I like your post Hilton. very true. The thing is that I don't believe she would be were she is if she wasn't smart. She knows what she's doing and we have to trust that.

Dominique, I like that pic you have. Really nice. I agree with you somewhat, not everyone is negative per say, but there are some people who are down right rude and disrespectful and that's what's unfortunate. Also, it's all the time. It wouldn't be as bad if it was once in a while, but pretty much everyday someone has something awful to say about her weight, voice, clothes, her dating life, dem kids and so forth. But, I guess we all love her so much that we just want what's best for her always. Lambily forever.

Thanks for that. I didn't realise it was pulled from the stores. I always assumed the reason it missed #1 was because Sony was too concerned about the critic's opinion of Mariah's whistles and removed the song's ultimate climax from the radio edit, making it less than what it is. That whistle is just iconic.

I dream of an accoustic set with Mariah. As many have been saying here, she could rework her songs to suit her current vocals, a few with just guitar would be perfect. She surely doesn't lack the creativity to change things up, so why not Mariah? I'd love to hear "Right to dream" and "Help me make it" live. Really live though, no pre-records or butterflies singing in the background.

That's what I thought but you never know. I believe it is strong. TGIFY is probably my favorite moment of the whole show. I think IDWC, OSD would have sounded great had they been given the same treatment. My All as well with a real acoustic guitar moment.

She did really good. I'm hoping she can keep this up for the tour. Unfortunately she has a lot to prove because a lot of those people are going into this hoping she'll fail.

I never knew they pulled CLG and I always thought CLG was a number. Maybe because I love the song so much I just made it a number one in my mind. Lol. Let's talk about how sexy and beautiful she looked in that long black dress. She was killing it. She looked nice in all the pictures, but that one made me stop and rewind.

I love her music and I always will. No matter how mad I get at some of her decisions that's the one thing that will never change. However, loving her music will not prevent me from voicing my disappointment when I feel she's not trying (for example not preparing herself days in advance when she knows she has performances coming up), she's just taking the easy way out(avoiding doing anything that pertains to singing), or her and her team are not doing their job to protect a brand that she worked so hard to build (allowing people to believe she's just a boob showing, two timing, boozy diva who can no longer sing). It angers me to no end that people take her as a joke now and she's not doing anything to remind them who the hell she is and why she's one of the greatest.

"She just sort of... yells in tune I guess is one way of putting it" to quote a recent on-the-mark post. If you tell me that that strained slow shouting to TGIFY is nice to listen to then I would question either your hearing or your sanity. I've heard people burp the alphabet. It's great they can do it, for sure, but I'm not sure I'd willingly put myself through listening to it. However, on a more positive note, if she's going to sing Emotions properly again then I'll listen to that. Replacing the singing of "You got me feeling emotions" with blurting "Gummy feeling" changes the whole song for the worse. Not least because I'm quite certain songs about elderly felatio is not something anybody wants to hear.
