Re: Fat Oprah (77,572) (77,610)

You're just being Petty Labelle. My point on mentioning Oprah is she in fact has been beloved, but also fat shamed her entire career. You forget the iconic In Living Color skit from the 90s. Years later on her show, the Wayans family heartily apologized for being so mean. Making an excuse of blaming the butt of your jokes for your comments doesn't justify it. Own it, lol.

Mariah's CD's inserts were to be read with a dictionary at hand. Even Walter never cared to look up the word "emblazon" in the dictionary, lol. He asked the hosts in an interview a couple of years ago if "emblazon" was even a word, he should've known better. I've always thought her lyrics had more depth from Mariah Carey up to Charmbracelet. After that she kind of became more playful with her lyrics. Maybe she ran out of deep things to sing about. Mariah was a true inspiration in the 90's, not only as an artist, but as lyricist. I do miss that too. Those simple yet poetic lyrics were to die for. It wasn't even about the vocal acrobatics. Songs like "Looking In", "Outside", "Petals", "My All", "I Only Wanted"... the only and only, Mariah Carey.

Cameron? (77,607)

Just saw this photo of MC backstage and look who's her, Cameron Diaz. Haha, remember when Cameron was being a B with an itch and said something like torture to her is being tied to a chair with Mariah Carey music being played? Then later I think Mariah said that she was once a little tipsy at a restaurant, when she spotted Cameron and she went up to her and gave her a piece of her mind. So I'm surprised to see her standing there, but then again she and Nicole are good friends and she is married to Nicole's brother in law.

I miss the eloquent Mariah too. I can't understand that at a very young age she talked so clever and eloquent. And yes very mature. You had to love her. The past years most interviews are about diva topics or commercials. Superficial topics. I mean how can a young Mariah talk more eloquent than now? Normally grown-ups talk better than tweens. Is it really just a role? I want to see more of the person Mariah not only the diva.

Someone mentioned they missed how Mariah spoke more eloquently. Some weeks ago I was watching some old interviews from the 90's. She did sound smarter and more mature. Back in high school, my vocabulary did improve with some of her lyrics and words she used. It would be refreshing to hear a recent interview where she speaks on deeper issues, not just about her diva antics. It sometimes bothers me when she has a neutral stance. Come on girl, grow some balls and speak your mind.

I also heard she collaborated with Marc as well. I think Lyron accidentally posted it and quickly took it down. You know how Mariah is about leaks. If it's Marc, it's a hit. He is Walter's replacement in my eyes.

Mariah isn't fat. Yes, she's thicker now than she was a year ago but she's admitted several times that she's struggled with losing weight and keeping it off since she gave birth. Lets not pretend her weight hasn't always yoyoed.

I also feel this tour has inspired her. I think it's shown her why people loved her in the first place and how a team is supposed to function.

I loved her entering to "Next time I'm gonna come on harder, don't step on this heat, don't bother", while being wheeled in on that throne, I was like "Yas Queen" haha. "Heat" is definitely one of her her most ahem, trash talking songs, I love it haha. It's like she's warning her critics that she'll come off the heels and hit them. Kidding, but it was great. I also love that Stella and the crew has been kept on the down low so far as to them actually going on a short vacation alone, that hardly ever happens. It'll be great if they are being "slowly but surely" being phased out.

Article: Mariah responds to bodyguard's injury claim (77,598)
by Matthew from USA

Still would prefer it if she hired a chef. There would be lots of benefits to it. She could specify meals with a calorie limit and then let the chef be as creative as they want. She would have delicious meals prepared for her that are also healthy. It would also cut down on expenses, since she wouldn't have to pay for the whole entourage to eat at fancy restaurants every night. The drawback is that if she stayed at home, she and Stella wouldn't get papped every night, and she wouldn't get a chance to dress up, which are both things she seems to enjoy. But hiring a chef would be better, since you can't really control caloric intake if you are eating out every night. It's hard to lose weight when you are poor, since you often have to work instead of exercise, and eating healthy is often more expensive. But Mariah doesn't have any of those excuses, so there's a little less sympathy here. We know that if she really wants to get into shape she can, like she did for Touch My Body.

I am anticipating this song because MC's Christmas music is top notch. Also I read she wrote and produced this song with Marc Shaiman and honestly these two together have created some great work together.

New dresses. New intro. Never before performed Heat? Even if it was short it made for a great new intro and I really didn't mind her wheeling in on that throne. I think this tour is somehow inspiring her.

Mariah talking about her weight in 2015 (77,593)
by bliss! from Brazil
| |
|

I choose to believe Mariah is super self conscious about her weight, but lately hasn't put "natural" efforts to get back in shape, which is understandable, sometimes people are not ready or focused enough to sacrifice some pleasures. Or maybe she feels good about herself the way she is now? I remember this quote from an interview to Daily Mail Weekend on May 2015 and I loved how honest she was when she spoke about her weight gain: "I was bedridden for a while, but I didn't really want to talk about it because I was worried I wouldn't regain the use of the arm. Being stuck in bed was terrible but I had really good physical therapists who came and moved the arm up and down for me to retrain my mind in that muscle memory. I got through it but it wasn't easy." She shakes her head and sips her wine. 'I'm still recovering from it now in terms of getting my body back to where it was. Before that I was in a really good place and I think, why?" She slaps the extra inches of flesh she's trying to shift in the way we women do. Then she shrugs. "There's a reason for everything and that's how I look at it. Last year was not a pleasant year for me, but I've had unpleasant times before and it hasn't stopped me."

Just so you understand I never missed the original point that was made from your post or Edward's post. It was straight to the point and I couldn't agree more with it. My issue was all the extra jabs at her weight that I feel were uncalled for.

I am super late responding to this, (I'm moving) but thank you for the kind words Edward. What lovely things to say. Even with my silly sense of humor I don't think Mariah has truly forgotten the authentic part of herself you are speaking of, I think she has just let a lot of distractions get in the way of not really dealing with lingering things. Life has a way of bringing things full circle though. I believe she'll work it out.

I thought you had missed the point, but I don't think you have: "Are you mad because she's a diva and has a bad attitude?" The public and press can't stand Mariah because of her long-term, arrogant diva attitude. "Are you mad because she does not look the way you think she should?" It's exactly because of of this bad attitude they want to tear her down. The press and public aren't mad at Mariah for being fat, they love it. So is it bullying? I think it's more like Schadenfreude. Me? Personally, I would prefer her to rework her image and pretty much everything else. But if she can't, I wouldn't mention her weight at all if it weren't for her still trying to be sexy and wearing leotards, one dancer (who drew the short straw) trying to hold her up whilst the other dancers (are paid to) make faces like they want to poke her. It's embarrassing. I think most fans want to be able to say they like Mariah Carey's music in public without having to lower their voices. She's done nothing to help that recently.
