Stacey, don't you think this would also be a great opportunity for Mariah to team up with a big name at least for a remix to boost the song if it turns out to be good?

I thought you had missed the point, but I don't think you have: "Are you mad because she's a diva and has a bad attitude?" The public and press can't stand Mariah because of her long-term, arrogant diva attitude. "Are you mad because she does not look the way you think she should?" It's exactly because of of this bad attitude they want to tear her down. The press and public aren't mad at Mariah for being fat, they love it. So is it bullying? I think it's more like Schadenfreude. Me? Personally, I would prefer her to rework her image and pretty much everything else. But if she can't, I wouldn't mention her weight at all if it weren't for her still trying to be sexy and wearing leotards, one dancer (who drew the short straw) trying to hold her up whilst the other dancers (are paid to) make faces like they want to poke her. It's embarrassing. I think most fans want to be able to say they like Mariah Carey's music in public without having to lower their voices. She's done nothing to help that recently.

I'm hopeful as we all are when new music is announced. But, it's always a guarded optimism. Christmas is Mariah's time so hopefully we'll get something good.

I'm excited Mariah's releasing a new single for Christmas. Judging by the fact that the song is associated with a reputable company, I think Mariah's going to push herself to deliver something great. She did it with "Almost Home". I think that "Almost Home" is the only track after 2008 in which Mariah actually sounds as she did in her glory days. Since I've never heard any Christmas songs with the words: "Doritos", "Fritos", "Snickers" and "Cornflakes" in the lyrics, I think everything will be ok. What do you guys think?

"[She] is too lazy or self-indulgent to lose weight." There are two ways to lose weight: diet and/or exercise. If you are overweight and will not exercise you are lazy. If you are overweight and will not diet you are self-indulgent. Call it "struggling with weight issues" if it makes you feel better. But these "issues" are laziness and self-indulgence. Call me whatever you like, but what I said is a simple truth and no amount of you nor anyone else attacking me changes that.

Fat shaming (77,576)
by Lee from UK

We do not know Mariah's circumstances at the moment. Her weight gain may not be a consequence of her lifestyle. Certain medications are likely to induce extreme weight gain. Anyone who has ever been on steroids for medical reasons will tell you "moon face" is an unfortunate side effect of this medication. It wouldn't surprise me if Mariah was receiving treatment for an ailment we (quite rightly) are unaware of. Mariah's diva image should not be connected to the amount of fat shaming she receives in the press (and on this board apparently). I am all about the press calling out her diva antics, and I have been over them since 1998, but surely they can do it without picking on her weight? If you have to sink so low as to insult someone about their weight, then you have to rethink what your actual argument is. Are you mad because she's a diva and has a bad attitude, or are you mad because she does not look the way you think she should?

You have no idea how Mariah feels about her weight gain and to assume that she is too lazy to loose the weight is absurd. As vain as Mariah is trust, she is working on loosing the weight. Last I checked Mariah is a human being. We humans occasionally become imperfect from time to time. Even those humans who are in the public eye. I'm sure Mariah feels personal "shame" in gaining weight but we as fans shouldn't be shaming her about that issue in my opinion. The general public will take care of that. Yes, shame Mariah when she is notoriously late to a concert or some fan meet and greet. Shame Mariah when she is acting like an entitled diva or does some half ass horrific lipped synch performance. Shame, shame, shame for those behaviors, however in my humble opionion to shame any person because they are struggling with weight issues and too assume they are "too lazy" to loose the weight is rude, obnoxious and shameful.

Fat shaming (77,574)
by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)

This message board is in uproar once again over a topic that can be very offensive. In my opinion fat shaming is not cool on any level no matter who it is. Just because Mariah is a celebrity of means does not make alright for anyone to fat shame her. While I have to agree she can stand to pick better clothes at times that are more flattering to her body, on another note the diva antics are not a good look either. But it does not mean that she have to endure people making rude and disrespectful comments about her or her weight, it is not going to help by any means, until MC herself decides she wants to do something about it. I mean it's sad that some people are complaining about her weight when there are things on planet Mariah that are going great right now such as her being well received on The All The Hits tour with Lionel Ritchie. With everything that has happened lately with MC this comes as a nice surprise. I understand as a family we are not going to always agree with each other when it comes to things regarding MC but trading insults and disrespecting one another is definitely not the direction we should be heading in. Be blessed and be well my Archives family.

"She's been touching her nipples on music videos for as long as I can remember." Edward get out of here, haha. "She definitely needs to work on her choice in clothing and her diva attitude", this is also my line of thinking. Dressing appropriately would do wonders. Also her diva "untouchable" attitude, makes people go against her and that's why they love tearing her down. Her image in general needs a major overhaul. I don't see that happening with her current team though. They'll bubble wrap the bubble that she is already in.

Fat Oprah (77,572)

Clearly "beauty is in the eyes of the beer holder". I don't necessarily think being overweight, not obese, is ugly, there are many overweight people who I consider to be beautiful and attractive. Mariah has been in shape most of her life, that's what we've seen from her. She didn't come out to the music scene being chubby like Adele or Oprah. People have loved Oprah through all her weight stages because Oprah doesn't have a shady, arrogant, stinky attitude, and that's the main key, and besides I don't remember the last time Oprah was selling sex as part of her show. Mariah has sold sex as part of her act for a long time now, she's been touching her nipples on music videos for as long as I can remember, those magic push-up bras she one wore in the late 90's gave her boobs twice the size, so she's going to be called out when her weight goes up. The thing is that she makes things worse with her choice of clothing, and nobody seems to be telling her when she looks like a blowup doll. As a regular person, people wouldn't give an effing damn about her weight, but she's a celebrity and that's what some people don't understand, and everything has to do with the attitude. Oprah, Gabourey Sidibe and Adele are all overweight ladies, but loved by the most people, but why, well, their attitudes. Then we have Kirstie Alley, a woman with a stinky attitude, whom many people love to hate. Mariah can be as fat as Gabourey if she wants to be, is her body and her choice, but she definitely needs to work on her choice in clothing and her diva attitude. Minimizing her intake of Doritos, Big Macs and alcohol would also help. And Licia, I think you're beautiful.

Andrew you are one [censored]. It is all so disturbing. Since we are all here to be "onest" and not "deluded", that's what I think of you. And yes I do not post alot, but still have the right to when I feel like it. So don't even start with the "you are just on this board crap". You are a very confused boy, yes boy. Talk with some respect, than people will listen to what you have to say. [Webmaster: It's funny that you advise Andrew to talk with some respect, but that don't do it yourself.]

Try harder for what? Please explain. I only repeated the points that have been made in several posts not only by you, but by several other people as well. You don't like fat Mariah. I didn't make it bigger than what it is. I just repeated what you said. By the way I didn't miss the original point that you and Edward made about her diva behavior making her unlikable therefore making her an easy target for ridicule. I actually agree with that, but if that was the main point that y'all wanted people to get why all the extra jabs about her weight?

You should have tried harder. It's a bit argumentum ad absurdum: extrapolate the points to the extreme and then ridicule them. Lots of people who find the truth difficult on here do that. But, if you wish to go there: as soon as there is a LiciaArchives I'll comment on whether you should go run some laps or not. In terms of Mariah: yes, she could do with running a few laps. Of New England, perhaps.

Chelsea hates Mariah more than she hates Nick. That interview will never happen. I'd love to see it though. This is the one person Mariah needs to stand up to. Chelsea can be a bully. Hoodriah or Bitchriah would need to come out. Sometimes you just have to let a person know you aren't to be fooled with. Lol.

OK Andrew we get it. Fat = unattractive. Skinny = beautiful. Got it. Noone will love you if you're a fatty. Got it. That's your main point right? Mariah stop being a fat ass so the world can love you again. Now my lazy big ass needs to go run a few laps so the world can love me. I tried so hard to stay away from this. Lol.
